Satellite A100-014 can't module of RAM PC2-4200 or PC2-4300

Hello guys and girls,

I have two modules of RAM memory installed on my toshiba a100-014. They are the two PC2-4200. However, CPU - Z which is a small software that helps out to discover what are the specifications of the hardware on your computer, says I have two PC2-4300. Isn't it funny?

Why you think that CPU - Z does not recognize the RAM modules I have installed? Moreover, the machine works perfectly!

Hello

This software is not for me. I use Everest professional. It s also a hardware diagnostic application.
But you the modules of RAM. Satellite A100-014 has been delivered with a module of 1 GB DDR2-533 (PA3411U-2M1G) and it s definitely a PC2-4300

    Hi pierfrancesco,.

I see that my clue has been useful for you with this screwdriver and etc...
So, I can give you a second suggestion? :)
It would be preferable to use a similar memorymodule due to compatibility issues. OK, no one said it wouldn't work, but it is possible that the different timings are some question about the stability of your system. So, try if it works. If Yes, then try for a few days, and if you haven´t then after these days of problems with the stability of your system, then you know everythings fine.

Just one more time: Don t worry, your machine won´t get broken if you insert the second module. If it works, doesn´t, then the module would not be recognized ot some...

  • Satellite A100 - ODD can't read Win7 installation CD

I have a pro satellite and the satellite a100. I bought a disc of microsoft to replace XP with windows 7 on the a100.

The a100 dvd player will not recognize the drive of w7 but he reads audio and video discs very well.

The satellite pro recognizes the drive of w7 so I think there may be a problem with the dvd-a100 player or its parameters. Can anyone help please?

    Hello

There is nothing wrong with the settings because there is no special parameters to read a disc.
If the optical drive does not read the disc, then the disc or the CD/DVD drive isn't OK.

As the disc works in relation to another optical disc drive, I suppose that the s drive laser lens can not handle support for Windows 7.

According to my experience of the issues may appear due to the dirty laser lens.
I recommend you to clean the laser lens using cotton tip and liquid alcohol.

In many cases, this work around simply helped to get the drive recognized again.

  • Satellite A100-847 does support 667 MHz RAM

The A100-PSAA9 (A100-847) supports the 667 MHz RAM? The FSB is 667 MHz, but the laptop comes with 533 MHz RAM and everywhere that I looked for upgrades of RAM I've seen 533 MHz for this model.

    memory Finder: http://www.orcalogic.co.uk/asp/prodtype.asp?prodtype=25716&ft=m&st=3

    Hello

It should be able to use the Ram 667 MHz module, but the difference between the 533 MHz and 667 MHz is not noticeable.
I think the 533 MHz module is great and you are on the good side, if you use the modules to recommend Toshiba.

  • Satellite A100-233: can I use the WiFi for the Peer to Peer network?

    Hello
Me & my friend have Satellite A100-233, we cannot have network even see ourselves at the TOP unless we are in place contain the wireless Internet Modem.
If we cannot make network peer-to-peer between us using WiFi?

    I hope you can help!
    Thank you

    Hello

I don't know if I understand your question, but you want to connect two laptops via the WLan. Am I wrong?
Well, this type of network connection is called Ad hoc.

Choose Start-> settings-> network connections, and then click the local network connection you want to share. On the left side of the screen under the management of the network, click on "change settings of this connection. Under the Advanced tab, under Internet connection sharing, check the box "allow other users of the network to connect through this computer's Internet connection".
There is also a check box to allow other users to enable or disable the Internet connection, if you are so inclined. If your network doesn? t need to access to the Internet, you can skip this paragraph.

The host system must also be configured with an Ad Hoc network connection and a Set Service identify (SSID). Right-click on the wireless icon in the system tray and choose "view wireless networks". Do NOT yet connect to any wireless network that could appear in the box. Click the Advanced button. This will bring up the Properties window of wireless with the wireless networks tab at the front. Click the Advanced Options button at the bottom right of this tab, select the option "networks from computer to computer (ad hoc) only". Make sure that the box "Auto connects to the non preferred networks" is NOT checked. Click the close (once) button to return to the wireless network tab.
Under preferred network, click Add. You now need a SSID for this machine, which is actually the name it will use to announce themselves to the other members of the ad hoc wireless network.

  • Satellite A100-216: can I move Windows.old for drive external HARD

    Hello

I got my satellite A100-216 almost 12 months, (and I'm pleassed with it, incidentally), and bought with XP, but she has the option (taken) to get the upgrade to Vista Home Premium.

I have finally plucked courage to Vista and have a question.

In the book, it says that the hard drive will be completely erased, and all must be safeguarded. OK - did this.
It lights up during loading to say that only a full upgrade is possible and that the old windows will be stored in a folder called "Windows.old" even if the operating system will be unusable.
There seemed no option but to agree with what is happening and lo and here is the record + Windows.old + is here, and it's * Gb * 6 in size!

After saving everything, can I really keep this large amount of things on my HARD drive. I can move it on my external hard drive?

The capacity of the HARD drive, (nominally 100 GB) but showing 93Gb shows 24,6 now used by Vista without other programs or drivers installed.

If I remove this 6 GB, I'll have a more reasonable 75 GB to play with.

The other option would have been to start on an OEM XP disk, opt for delete and re-create a primary partition and load Vista from there after the format. Would it be: r: work and B: use less space.

If the 6 GB file is all that it would save, I'll just save it on my external HARD drive.

    Thanks :)

    Hi Dave,.

The Windows.old folder is a backup of your files/folders/settings of your XP system etc.

It is automatically created during the process of update for Vista and is designed as a quick way to return to the earlier version of the operating system if you need to do. \obviously its value will decrease over time, once you start using Vista, because different files will become obsolete with the use.

The normal procedure is to remove these backup files "shadow", once you are happy that Vista is not working properly and there is an option to do it for you in the utiliy Vista disk cleanup.

  • Satellite A100 683: can I upgrade the internal card?

    Hello

can someone tell me if it is possible to replace the original map (3945ABG) of the Satellite A100 683 by a new, n support card (4965AGN)?

I would say that it should be possible since both are mini pci cards and I use Windows Vista (which is a system for the 4965AGN requirement), but it would be nice to have a confirmation before buying this card.

    Thanks in advance.

    Wouter

    Hello

What card do you mean exactly?
Do you mean the LAN or WLan?

I ask because I m not 100% sure what car say you, but to my knowledge only the WLan card is removable!
As you say it s card miniPCI and especially two wires connect the card with the motherboard
Both Brown and white cables connect the WLan antenna.

However, theoretically, it should be possible to use another wireless network card but I see really no reason that these updates.
If you have a Vista compatible driver for your card, then everything should work great.

    Good bye

  • Satellite A100 - where can I get new display driver?

    Hello

I have a laptop Satellite A100-153 and I also use it for games. It is, drivers that are available on this site are DEFINITELY outdated (they are of type.. 2007) and I can't install official drivers of mobility on the ATI site.

So my question is: is there a chance that I can get my hands on some new drivers for my laptop or friend stuck with pipe drivers up to eternity, or is there another possibility to get new drivers?

    hope you can help me.

    Hello

It seems that this phone has been equipped with an ATI Mobility Radeon X 1600 graphics card.
As suggested by the previous user, you can try to install an ATI driver for different laptops models that would encourage the same graphics card, or check you some pages 3rd of group for a compatible driver.

But as far as I know Toshiba recommends the use of own graphics drivers because these drivers were tested and certified.
3rd party drivers are not tested and could lead to different problems

  • Satellite A100 - where can I get new display drivers?

    Hello

I reinstalled my Windows to my Satellite A100 and I installed the drivers for my graphics card in this from Toshiba Web site. Unfortunately, they are not the most current. I noticed that my games does not work properly. The surfaces look like shards of glass and flashing in and out...

Before reinstalling my Windows I had the same problem and I have a few more recent drivers and my games worked well but I don't remember it who or where I have been.
Can I get some suggestions where I would get the best players to do this, even if their is not made by ATI?

    best regards Mrs

For better graphics performance, you can simply use the drivers changed and unsupported.
Of course, on your own risk.
For drivers you can visit omegadrivers.net

  • Satellite A100-02 can b - I get a new graphics card?

    Hello people,

A few weeks ago my, unfortunately 2 years and 2 months old, Toshiba Satellite A100-02 b surrenders completely.
The graphics card (I hope its called like that in English) and the display crashed...

My question now is: is it possible to get a new card?
I can't find a fitting Geforce GO 7600 grafic cards...
    That's why I'm asking here:

where can I buy such a grafic card - or: is there another (better) available grafic card which correspond to this laptop?

I hope you people can help me with my disaster :(

    your welcome
    Germany :) Cornell

    Hi mate.

Unfortunately, you can not replace the graphics card.
If the graphics card is dead, then the whole motherboard must be replaced.

It s is no more possible to upgrade the GPU chip. It s simply welded on the map and there is no chance to remove it.

If you are sure that your graphics card is dead, then you'll need for the new motherboard which is not good cheap 100%

  • Satellite A100 PSAA9A - can read DVD BUT not CD with Windows XP

I use a satellite A100 PSAA9A computer laptop and I started having trouble with the CD/DVD drive. It was working fine until yesterday when he decided not read no matter what CD I get the message asking me to insert a disc, when there is a CD in the drive. It still reads DVD good.
I don't know if he has anything to do with the download of the updates of Windows XP because the troubl seems to start after I did.
Is there somewhere in the creation for the player who controls this? Also when I run the troubleshooting test it always ignores the test of this drive.
    I'd appreciate any help.
    See you soon

Optical drives, DVDS, has some different faces to work with CD and DVD, but objective and optics are the same. He had arrived, when in one two heads become a dust or something else. I thing that you must visit the Service and your disk cleanup. But do not use a cleaning disc!
PS. Windows updates, as and OS, are not issues.
Make sure it's easy - attempt to start bootCD (not BootDVD) with anyone by pressing F12 at startup. If the running machine - it's Windows, if not - DVD player.

  • Satellite L50D-C-18J - two modules of RAM but single track only

    Hi all

A few days ago I got the Toshiba Satellite L50D-C-18J with A10 - 8700P AMD processor.

Factory 1 with 8 GB (DDR3L 1600 MHz) memory module are installed. According to various tools (AIDA64, HWInfo64, CPU - Z), the memory will operate at 668 MHz, that is to say 1333 MHz mode.

The free memory slot I have with another 8 GB DDR3L held at 1600 MHz (with the same memory timings, but other manufacturers). The Bank will continue to operate only in single channel mode and not in dual channel mode. The A10 CPU should support.

I have installed the latest version of the BIOS.

We have an idea of how I have the dual-channel mode and can set the frequency of the memory? In the BIOS, there is unfortunately almost no parameter or someone has the same laptop model and with it dual-channel mode is running?

    Thanks and greetings

    Mario

Hello. Another manufacturer is not a problem.
    You should check the following:
    (1) make sure that the two RAM modules operating at 1.35v. Search the Internet, what should be the supply voltage of the RAM you have installed. If this does not work at 1.35v then that's the problem.
    (2) whether these RAM modules supports ECC. If one of your RAM supports ECC and the other is not, that's the problem.

I was just curious and exchanging modules and put them separately or together in different locations, but it doesn´t find 1 024 MB module if both are put in place or module 512 if I do not put one inside.
I updated my bios 2.10 BU he doesn´t solve the problem. Can please help me because now I have a 512 MB module which is useless.

    Hello

Are you sure you bought a 1 024 MB module at 100%?
Because it sounds like the new module of memory has only 512 MB.

  • Satellite Pro P - can I put the RAM?

    Hello.

I have model No. PSE45E, I know it is an old laptop, but can someone tell me if I can upgrade the RAM? There 1 or 2 slots available for this or do you need to buy a RAM?

I hope someone can clarify this point...

    Thank you

    Hello

I tried a bit with Google and the model No. PSE45E is unclear to me.
As Akuma said what is the exact model number and Satellite Pro P you have exactly?

Normally, most laptops are equipped with 2 RAM slots. In addition, I can recommend consulted the user manual. You will find some instructions for upgrading RAM.
