So if you start from the Toshiba Recovery disk you also get a black screen?

What happens if you start from a normal Microsoft Windows disk? Just to make sure that it of hardware related problem or not

    Hi all

There is a problem with my Satellite A100-906:

After having lit - Toshiba page appears - that the loading Windows XP page - more than a black screen with a cursor (the touchpad moveable)... and nothing more.

That's what I tried without success:

Detach the battery for over an hour
Start the computer with battery detached
    Change the default BIOS settings
Start in Safe Mode - the same black screen with 'safe mode' legends in the 4 corners of the screen.

    Please help with this.

According to your message, the screen of the laptop BIOS is visible and also the Windows screen.
I think that it s not a hardware problem but a software problem.
Maybe your operating system is confusing until you think about using the Toshiba Recovery disk and to restore the system?
I mean you already tried the passage without danger and she didn't so in my opinion, the next step should be the new installation of the OS

  • Black screen with blinking cursor after the passage in MSC mode

I followed the recommendation to disable startup secure in the Bios then move the UEFI Bios to the CSM. But when I go to set up what I see is a black screen with a stable cursor in it. And it doesn t go in the Bios.

    The black screen remains.
I turn off the laptop and once again now, but I still have a black screen with a cursor that is stable and that s it.

It's like that and it doesn t go to windows even go into the Bios, I can t.
    What should I do?

    Help, please...

After the passage of the CSM and disabling secure boot UEFI mode, you will not be able to boot from the HARD disk as the installation of Windows 8 requires secure boot and the mode of the UEFI.

Now you can boot from the disc or other media bootable (USB flash key) to install the Windows 7 system.

I guess you've made these changes installed Windows 7. Right?

By the way: what model of laptop you have exactly?

  • Black screen with flashing '_' in the upper left corner.

Im running Vista 64-bit Home Premium and recently ran chckdisk because the computer found some "bad sectors" and prompted me to run. After reboot, the computer loads the image in which I can press "delete" to enter the bios (which I do), then press "tab" to go to the post OFFICE (which has no effect and always load the black screen with a '_' blinking at the top left. If I do nothing, the black screen with the '_' blinking always appears after the image. I can't start in safe mode or access the "Advanced Boot Options". The only thing I can do after the black screen is press "ctrl alt del" in which the same process begins.

I bought my computer from online retailer so it did not come with any CD to restore/recover...

    1. did you of recent changes to the system?

Check her unplug all devices external (except keyboard and mouse) and if you are able to boot.

If this isn't the case, I suggest you contact the manufacturer or retailer for a Windows Vista Installation DVD.

Once you have the DVD you can try to perform the Startup Repair.

Method 1: Run a startup repair.

    (a) Insert the disc.

    (b) restart your computer using the power button on the computer.

    (c) If you are prompted, press any key to start Windows from the installation disc.

    (d) If your computer is not configured to boot from a CD/DVD, check the documentation that came with your computer. You may need to change your computer's BIOS settings.

    (e) choose your language settings, and then click Next.

    (f) If you are using the Windows installation disc, click Startup Repair. (g) click ok when you are prompted.   Follow the steps in the link to perform a startup repair.

    Hope his helps.

  • HP Pavilion dv6000 (Vista) starts with a blank screen with a cursor after the original hp logo screen.

HP Pavilion dv6000 (Vista) starts with a blank screen with a cursor after the original hp logo screen.  Cannot get it to boot Windows.  Any thoughts on next steps?

I remove the hard drive and attach it to your desktop and use the host operating system to run a check disk on your drive.  The laptop goes hard disk looking for instructions to start and he does not see the correct code.  This is probably due to a damaged boot sector.  Another idea is that your bios has changed and you have changed the SATA from AHCI to IDE type somehow or vice versa. You also left a non bootable disk in the DVD/CD drive.  Remove all disks from your DVD.

  • Satellite Pro A200 - black screen with a blinking cursor

I'm new to the forum and have a big problem.
So, any help is welcome and appreciated.

My Satellite Pro A200 turns black after the BIOS screen and a black screen with a blinking cursor.
Also just as the screen goes black a beep can be heard which shows windows boot.

I can access the toshiba Setup screen but not the installation of security mode.

    Kind regards

Please go into the BIOS settings and check if the HARD drive is listed there.
The blinking cursor is a typical sign of a malfunction of the HARD drive.
Eventually the HARD drive is dead and you need to replace it and reinstall the operating system.

    Good luck

  • HP Jet 7: Black screen with white lines on the HP 7 stream

I bought my HP 7 stream about 2 years ago and I'm now a black screen with white lines whenever I turn on the tablet.

    Can you kindly help.

If that's what you see immediately when you turn on, the graphics have not to the Board of Directors.

These tablets were dropped after the first year of release, and it would not be worth the cost if it could be repaired.

    I'm sorry.

  • Computer won't turn on completely (black screen with blinking cursor) after installing windows updates

8/7, the following updates have been installed correctly:

Microsoft .NET Framework 3.5 Service Pack 1 and the .NET Framework 3.5 Family Update (KB951847) x 86

Update definition for Windows Defender - KB915597 (definition 1.63.1021.0)

Following this installation, the display resolution has been reset to be very low.  When you try to reset the resolution, I was alerted to a driver problem, so tried installing this in vain (below error code)

Intel Corporation - display - Intel (r) G33/G31 Express Chipset Family

    Error details: Code 800703E3

After that, he went to sleep the computer, but was unable to select 'sleep' (it is grayed out) but the stop keys option indicates that the updates were ready to install so I stop thinking which may help.  It was last night.  This morning, the computer was on, seen the screen DELL, then a black screen with flashing white cursor in the upper left corner.  I tried ctrl-alt-del, got the dell screen appears again, then black screen.  I tried ctrl-alt-del, thinking I could try one of the options key F at this time, but he won't even go to this point, the dell blank screen just screen.

Any ideas would be very appreciated!  It is the second major problem that I had recently after updates vista install (the last time I temporarily lost access to all my files, because they were placed under a temporary user account that had been created!)

    Thank you!

You try to borrow the Vista DVD to any of your friends and do a repair (inplace upgrade) it might help you solve the problem.

  • I have the virus of file recovery, now I have a black screen with cursor blinking in the upper left corner.

I have a Pavilion Notebook and recently caught the virus from file recovery.  I bought and ran the disc of Trend Micro Titanium Maximum Security.  Now, I get a black screen with a flashing cursor in the upper left corner of the screen.  All tests ran for memory, hard disk, etc. are OK.  Now I have a recovery disk, but have not backed up my files.  Any suggestions?

Download your backed up files, then you can boot from your recovery disks to reinstall Windows.Several options to do so.

Remove the hard drive and attach it to one > USB adapter . Plug it into another computer via usb port and copy files off the power.

You can use > Ubuntu Live CD to boot from and backup files.

OR ->Kaspersky CD has the ability to back up files.

  • Black screen with white cursor at the end of the New Installation

I try to perform a new installation of Windows Vista Home Premium (64 bit) on a Dell Inspiron 1545. The hard drive was completely wiped out and I don't have the original disks (I use a Vista CD from another computer Dell). Installation is proceeding normally up to the phase of "Complete installation" where it crashes for almost an hour and then goes to a black screen with a white cursor.

I have tried all the following suggestions (found here and on other sites online):

Reset the BIOS has no effect.

By pressing SHIFT 5 times has no effect.

CTRL + Alt + Delete has no effect.

Rename to the event log file has no effect.

Remove one of the memory modules if the computer has only 2 GB installed has no effect.

Running CHKDSK finds no error, and has no effect.

The attempt to start safe mode causes hang crcdisk.sys.

Try a normal boot hangs at the screen loading w / loading scroll bar "stuttering".

Startup Repair runs for hours with no results (I said to cancel after you let it run overnight only to find it still 'work' in the morning)

    Does anyone have suggestions more?

    Thanks in advance! : D

Dell Media you are currently using may not have drivers appropriate for your PC.

Contact Dell technical support (have your number of ready service if they ask for it) and ask for the "recovery media" to your specific model number. There may be a small fee involved.

We recently bought 2 portable Satellite Pro L550-17R for use as machines to show that the production of projectors at conferences and live events.

Both machines are identical in spec, and the intention is to run them both at a resolution of 1024 x 768 @ 50 Hz.

The problem I have is that the portable media this refresh rate with no problems, while the other is not (the screen turns off when applying this refresh rate).

They all have two cards of Mobility Radeon HD 5165 GFX, Win 7 and the same standard drivers that are preinstalled.

Any ideas as to why what happens and how can be fixed?

    Thank you

Do you mean that you used 1024 x 768 hz screen resolution of mobile @50 internal or did you put this resolution of external video output?

Please note that common books supports the display and use of the 60 Hz refresh rate and this should not be changed.

PS; Please check if you can update the display driver.

  • Satellite A100-495 - black screen after installing Windows XP Home edition recovery

After the recovery and download of updates and the XP operating system that the screen remains black, bios does not start, and XP does not start.

    What can I do?
    A I press a certain key combination?
How can I reset the laptop again?

    Who can help quickly?

    Hello Ralf

Stand by. If I understand you just your laptop does not work.

What happen exactly when you press the power button / stop? You don't see anything on the screen? You see Toshiba welcome screen.
    Power is ON?
    Is there a any reaction?

Remove the battery and leave the laptop for some time, connect the power supply only and try to start it again.
To be honest, this whole thing is strange. Recovery image installation is not responsible for this kind of behavior. Have you done something else that may be responsible for this?

  • I only see a black screen with cursor flashing in Windows 10 Boot Camp

Why Boot Camp is so hard!

I just reinstall Boot Camp for the second time on my MacBook Pro mid-2012 after I came across this problem the first time. Everything goes through until the drivers install and I restart my Mac after updates, that to have the screen go black.

Why can I not just have a clean install * sigh *.

Anyway, I contacted both Apple and Microsoft technical support, but they could not solve my problem. I know that other people seem to have this problem, but I have not seen a coherent solution for it.

    Any suggestion would be great!

If the screen is black, try to disconnect your power adapter and check if the screen lets connect you. The default brightness may be too low. There are two distinct settings, battery and AC adapter.

If the problem is related to the drivers, remove the current installation and re-install W10. On the first screen where you select the Bootcamp partition, physically disconnect the network connections and do not connect until Windows is completely installed, you have created an account and bootcamp drivers are fully installed. Once you test, create a Windows system restore point and disable the GPU driver updates.

See also present on how to control the driver for the specific hardware updates.
