Satellite A100-1011E - how to extend the battery life

Hello world

I would like to ask you for advice. Given that I just bought this laptop, I would not my battery life shorten as soon as my old laptop. You plug the power cable when the battery is fully charged? Since I'm on cell regularly, 3 h battery is not enough for me. All do you advise me to take the battery out and use that? We hope to get all the valuable tips here. Thank you!

Hi jimmytee,
After the available studies, newsletters and my experience, there is no need to remove the battery if fully charged when working with AC plugged in. It is recommended only to tell - and recharge the battery once a month, not more. You should not work with AC plugged on and removed the battery.
Furthermore, I'm fighting currently with the battery in a new unit. The battery itself was very fast discharge with the unit is turned off and removed ca connection. Now, the Toshiba service changed the battery. Will see how the situation will be after a few days.

    You could:

Looking out the window or talk to your neighbor instead of using the computer in the bus.

    Leave your computer at home.

    Buy a new battery.

Take the power supply with you in case the bus has power ports for each or a few pairs of seats.

  • Satellite A100-386 - how to upgrade the BIOS?

    Hello

I wanted just to update my old Satellite A100-386 with 4 GB of RAM (2x2gb Crucial) instead of 1 GB, as I am now running Windows7 Pro 64 bit instead of the original XP 32.

I read that I had to upgrade the BIOS as mine is v2.00. So, I downloaded the last of them.
It seems to be an automatic upgrade of BIOS (S10V600.exe) as mentioned on the site Web of Toshiba.
But when hit the .exe, I have a box of error message saying:
"LOADPEDRV. "EXE: could not start the service.

My question is: do I have to be 32-bit OS to run the upgrade of the automatic BIOS or is it possible to Flash the BIOS with a Windows7 64 bit OS run?

Thanks a lot for all answer as I found no 'how to' in search on this forum.

    Best regards
    François

    Hi FPSim,

Who said that you need to update the BIOS to upgrade RAM? The maximum RAM capacity depends on the motherboard and chipset and not BIOS.

Official website of Toshiba, I have seen that the model supports 4 GB of RAM so the BIOS update is not necessary. Increase the RAM and everything is ok.

    Hello

I m not very good if you want to be able to order the recovery for this unit disc, because in very rare cases, the recovery disc may be pronounced if the laptop model is too old.

So I hope that you can order it here:

  • Satellite A100 PSAA8: How to order the Toshiba XP-> Vista upgrade CD

    Hello

    I just bought a Satellite A100 (psaa8)
I found that a document indicates that I can move on to Vista and a link but it does not work.

So can you please help me with this, I got bored of XP.

I read that some members ordered a free vista CD.
Can you tell me how to order and it is good or bad?

    Hello

Remember that this offer is limited by the date! I think you're too late dude!
But why you're bored? The XP is the OS really friendly and fully compatible with all 3rd party devices!
Vista needs a lot more use as XP and runs slower than XP. If you want to play games on your laptop, I would recommend staying with XP! All games run faster under OS XP!

You know the Vista Customization Pack? This allows you to use XP but it looks like a Vista.
You know, the whole images, icons, etc. will transform the look of Vista.

It s nice and for people who wants to change the old XP style new style Vista ;)

  • Re: Satellite A100-692 - how to replace the CD/DVD drive?

    Hello

the device DVD/combined my A100-692 is damaged and I want to replace it.
I found no still no guide how to replace the unit.

    Is there something available?

    Thanks in advance!

    Hello!

AFAIK, you must remove the keyboard first, before you can replace the CD/DVD drive. Remove the screws on the lower side, and then you can push the disc if you have replaced the keyboard.
It seems to be a bit tricky

Maybe you should ask a technician for laptop to help. They can replace the CD/DVD drive for you.

    Good bye

  • Satellite A100 (PSAA9) is not charging the battery

I have the original (10.8 v, 4000mA/h) who suddenly died battery, the laptop don't see (energy saving does not detect the battery), but when it is connected to the charging LED is on and it stays on for 8-12 hours.

I bought a new battery, the laptop he detected (see energy saving), after completely discharging the battery I have pluged in the AC adapter (laptop off) and waited for 12 hours, when I turned on the laptop, the battery was at 0% cost in energy savings, the reading is correct because the laptop does not start without AC pluged, the new batt is dead too.

    -bios version v6
-Repeat the process charing time and time again (12 times with the laptop off & on)
m ' help to restore the bios? (If so, how to get an older version of the bios?)

All tips that might solve the problem are WELCOMED.

If you have the original Toshiba battery and the problem persists, I fear there is a problem with electronic power supply on the motherboard.
Contact the nearest authorized maintainer to check the electronic card.
They use diagnostic tests and special tools and they can for sure what is wrong there.

Forget the BIOS and these solutions. He won't help at all.

  • Satellite 5205-S505 - how to remove the battery with the damaged battery latch?

I try to set aside my laptop (satellite 5205-s505) today. But I found that the release latch was damaged somehow. What can I do?

My seriously damaged lcd. I have method to close the LCD to save energy (just use external moniter)?

This battery is a very good question. I think you're the first person who asked it.
If you cannot remove the only way is, I think, to disassemble the entire laptop and somehow free battery.

When you use the external monitor, you have to use the FN + F5 key combination and switch to an external monitor only. Portable computer's LCD will be OFF.
You can also check the Advanced display settings. Usually, you can also find settings to define where should be the office.
    Check it out!
