Satellite A100-178 hangs at the STATION after the BIOS update

Hello

Recived my Windows Vista upgrade Moduslink yesterday. I followed the book on how to upgrade to Vista, and the first step was to update the BIOS to 5.10. The BIOS code was provided on a CD and I applied it by the book. Now my A100 will not boot. It s hangning to the beautiful red-logo Toshiba to the POST screen. The only button on the keyboard that responds is the ESC key. When you press the switches of the screen to the screen of detailed JOB. Just under the CPU information, he says that he has "no TPM or TPM has problem", there are information memory and "Press F2 to enter setup".
Nothing happens more...
Is there a smart way to reset or rollback BIOS? Please?

Please excuse me if the English is bad...

/ Fredrik

You are 100% sure that you used the good BIOS?
Seems that you have used a wrong!

Please check if your number of Satellite A100-178.
That I remember that the laptop is a part of the PSAA9E series.

  • Satellite A100 PSAA8K stuck in the BIOS after that the BIOS is flashed

    Hi all

I used the utility to update the BIOS of Toshiba on this machine. It was working fine before, now it is blocked with the Toshiba Startup logo. Pressing F2 or F12 don't work. Pressing ESC. Gives the following error. No TPM or TPM has problem. Everything else seems as usual. It shows the BIOS 6.00, which is what I had in theory flashed to.

I guess the flash gone bad. Is there a disaster for this recovery procedure?

    Hi guys

It seems really turned something went wrong during the BIOS update process.
Perhaps a new module ROM BIOS flashing could solve this problem.

The point is that you need a BIOS version of special rescue and the drive to reflash the module ROM.
But only the authorized service provider has such special rescue tool and only the ASP technician can reflash the BIOS.

So maybe it's not a real solution but a tip how to get a solution
I would recommend so contact the ASP in your country for the control of the laptop and a reflash BIOS.

    Best regards & good luck

  • Satellite Pro A200 - question on the BIOS update

I have a Satellite Pro A200 (PSAE7E) with Windows Vista and XP that have been installed recently.
In the driver of Toshiba page (BIOS update) says:

"This Bios is only compatible for portable computers with Windows Vista!"

    (1) should I update my BIOS (1.4) or it'll be a problem for my windows XP?

    (2) anyone has try?

    (3) is there documentation on the BIOS updates (bug fixes, etc.)?

    Hello

I will try to be very short with answers:
    1. If you use Windows XP Home edition on your laptop have BIOS update with the version 5.30
2 this version of BIOS is available for days and it is possible that many people already tried. By the way: until Toshiba out something that is tested and verified.
    3. Unfortunately there is documentation about bugs and patches, but the fact is that Toshiba has designed the 5.30 version to support the features of Windows XP Home edition on the models of laptops designed Vista

    Hello

I would not recommend to download and install the BIOS on Toshiba Canada website!
As far as I know your laptop was designed for the European market and you should always use the driver, BIOS of the Toshiba site European and tools!

But I agree with dnf666. If the laptop works properly it s not necessary to update the BIOS!
And note: the bad BIOS or bad BIOS can damage the module ROM!

On the Toshiba page, you will find a teaching how BIOS should be updated on several models of laptops!

Using the Toshiba Service Station, he warned me an update. The update is called "Satellite L670/L675, Satellite Pro L670, update BIOS Version 1.50". When I install the update, it gives me this error: "there was an error, please check below the elements.ยป More than 150 BIOS version. Battery capacity more than 10%. AC is attached.

I tried the update when my battery was 100% and the captain was connected, and yet I still get the error.

    Hello

Firstly I have to say if you don t have any problems with your computer forget this update. BIOS update is required only if you really have problems, otherwise I don't such updated risky.

Anyway, if you download the update of the BIOS, you will need to extract all files of archive zip first before start you. Also, make sure that you are logged on as administrator.

  • Satellite L450D PSLY5E freeze during the BIOS update - now does not turn on

    Hi guys,.

I have a Satellite L450D. I recently tried (unfortunately) update the BIOS after a clean installation, because the FN key no longer working to bring up the toolbar.

Winphlash program froze near the end and the system remained frozen for a good half-hour. The only way out was to remove the battery (as I know in any case).

Now, the system will light with battery in or out and plugged in. I guess I've damaged the hard drive or the card mother or something.

Is it possible to fix? Or is it?

Thank you very much for your help.

BTW - I know now not to update the BIOS unless it is ABSOLUTELY necessary and well advised.

    Joey

    > I guess I've damaged the hard drive or the card mother or something.

The disk HARD isn t damage but the Rom module where the BIOS is stored was not flashed properly.
I guess that this happened because the flash procedure was interrupted.

I'm not sure if this can be fixed perhaps the service guy could flash the ROM module with special disc of crisis of the BIOS.

    I keep fingers crossed

TEMPRO caught my eye on an update of the BIOS which "increases the features.
So far I did not worth to install updates TEMPRO as none of them seem to be important.

For example, what features the following update increases.

    Hello!

I put t know what Satellite phone you have exactly, but you must download and install all updates that says TEMRPO.
To be honest I would only update the BIOS if it s necessary or leave if I have I have problems with the computer.

Normally, you will find a description on the site of Toshiba on new updates to the BIOS but it is possible that there are none available.

  • Shortcut keys no longer work after reinstallation of the System - Satellite A100-178

I reinstalled everything and return to my laptop as it was when I got it. As always, I have installed and uninstalled the software as I always do.
But my shortcut keys do not WORK. I tried everything, they don't work. They have worked before, but they are no more. I got the computer 2 days ago, and it's a Satellite A100-178.
    Help, please!

    Hi Bob

I put t really know what you are doing with your device. If you want to have the factory settings still it can only work with a recovery facility and I don t understand what you mean with I have installed and uninstalled the software as I always do

If you use recovery media there is nothing to install and more.

Can you please tell us what features you need exactly? This will help us identify the problem much better.

  • Satellite A100-TA7 hangs at POST after BIOS update

Kind of tech swavy, I know that my chances are very low to solve this but this is.

I decided to update the BIOS on my laptop Toshiba Satellite A100-TA7(PSAA8C-TA702C) to the latest version available (6.00).

I did it because I've heard of people have better luck doing their job of FN keys on linux with the latest BIOS.
The installation is completed normally (went through all the steps, wrote to all 21 blocks) without any error, but after the reboot, I noticed that it is now displayed at the Toshiba logo screen.

The blue progress bar moves twice but got caught then about 1/3 of the way through.
To see how bad the damage was, I Press esc at the beginning of the POST and saw that it gives me the right Version of the BIOS (6.00).

He also told me that "no TPM or TPM has problem" and "2039 M RAM Passed system."
It then displays the message "Press to enter SETUP" (which makes the message disappears, but otherwise doesn't do anything.

If I press f2 during the Toshiba logo screen, it replaces the message at the bottom with "Please wait" and nothing happens even after an hour of waiting.
(Which makes sense, because before the bar blue everything would load before entering the CMOS settings). The thing is that the BIOS is not really "freeze", it gets stuck just at a specific place (I know because I can press F2 even after an hour of waiting and the laptop meets it by displaying "Please Wait".)

Someone at - it no more things I could try? Thank you

PS. I tried clearing CMOS too. It of very long history and it does not sound good

    > I decided to update the BIOS on my laptop Toshiba Satellite A100-TA7 (PSAA8C-TA702C) to the latest version available (6.00).
I wonder about your BIOS version that I know, that the laptop series is designed for the Canadian market. It s a Canadian series and the BIOS or drivers should be downloaded from the Canadian site of Toshiba!
Bad BIOS could cause issues like this it describes your message above!

    > I did it because I've heard of people have better luck doing their job of FN keys on Linux with the latest BIOS.
Keys FN Toshiba need driver Toshiba and it turns out that Toshiba driver pages don t offer the drivers for Linux distributions, so I put t believe in the story spread by any people.

    I don t want to write a long story, so I would cut this now;
Is that something was happening during the BIOS update process.
Either you have used a procedure to update the BIOS or wring wrong and so the laptop can not pass the MESSAGE

You will need to contact the local ASP to solve this problem, maybe you're a lucky guy and the technician should Flash the ROM module but in the worst cases, your motherboard is damage and must be replaced. :(

    Good luck

  • Satellite A100-811 - sound no longer work after reinstallation of the system

I recently bought this type of laptop. After about 2 installations of windows from the recovery cd unit... I keep having the same problem:
I encounter problems or difficulties with some audio applications... especially mp3 running for example in winamp (all versions of winamp). I also tried to reinstall the audio driver to install a newer version... the same problem: I have heard a few small glitches while listening to the song... I should also mention that all this happened independently of the CPU usage... my last solution in my head is to change my antivirus. I use a version of ZONE ALARM antivirus... someone heard something about this antivirus to give the same problems... Thanks for giving me a notice. Thank you

    Hello

No, I don't think that the noise issue relates to all Anti Viurus applications.
I read on an audio glitch similar problem on a Satellite P100.
The BIOS update and an update driver sound has solved these problems

I put t know if it will help you but you can check for this possibility
A question: is the laptop uses a Realteck sound card chip?

If Yes, visit the Web to Realtek website and install the latest driver from this site. Eventually, it helps.

  • Satellite A100-178: I can reinstall the older version of Bios?

I updated my Bios as it was available (5.10). The update went well and I had no problem for it. Since then, I started to get a daily error messsage on digital USB card from Pinnacle. The error is something about the limitations of outdated peak current. The card still works OK after that I have reinstall. I would like to try it with the old version of the Bios and see if that also produced the error, but that is downloadable somewhere?

I noticed the update made a program to copy backup, but where? I also tried to run the update process twice, so it may be that the backup copy has been crushed with the new version anyway.

    Thank you
    Petri

    Hello Petri

With your laptop you can do what you want, but if I were you I won't play with BIOS if not necessary. I hope that you know very well that if you make a mistake, you can destroy the BIOS chip and in this case you have big problem because the repair will be very, very expensive.

I'm sure that the BIOS updates are tested before you can download them and are perhaps better to look for other solutions as described in the previous announcement.

    Good luck and be careful!

  • Satellite A100 - will not charge the battery

    Hello

I have ned to help. My Satellite A100 will not charge the battery. He works the power adaptor for the led indicates charging status, battery shows 1% of loading tatus information, but none does change - no loading any time. When disconnected everything just stops off like normal desktop.

I've already put battery in and out, made upgrades to the antivir software, makes Toshiba controls, tests, but what ever he did did not any change. If there is no way for restoration of battery how to check what the problem is I have no second battery or AC I can always buy new batttery but I don't know if the old one is broken and weather new would work properly?

    Best regards
    pawelg

    Hi pawelg,

I agree with the user above. The battery can be charged only up to 500 times, and after that, it must be replaced. I think it's the case now, I mean that everything works correctly on the AC adapter so I think that the battery must be the reason for this.

By the way: you can buy a new battery to an authorized service provider. ;)

And when I tried the BIOS update and load the new BIOS: ok
Analyze the compatibility of old and new BIOS: ok
    Read old BIOSES: ok
Save the old BIOS to the backup file: ok
New Flash start cant BIOS and 1-2 min after the gel cell

    I solved.

    Hello

I think that in this case you must go to an authorized service provider. If the laptop freeze during the BIOS update module ROM needs to be reflashed.

On the Toshiba site, you can search nearest ASP and download all the drivers. Check this box:
    http://EU.computers.Toshiba-Europe.com > support & downloads

    Welcome them
