Satellite A100 - 237 (PSAA9E) - can I improve it with a new 320 GB HARD drive?

Hello!

I want to switch the hard disk of my Satellite A100-237. It is equipped with 80 GB Fujitsu, 5200 rpm, SATA. I want to install a new one - 320 GB, 7200 rpm, SATA. But I don't know is it supported.

I tried to find information about the possibilities for this upgrade, I could not find anything.

Thank you in advance!

Don't worry, buddy... I don't see any serious reason why would be supported not the 320 GB SATA HARD drive.
The SATA controller must handle the tough without major problems.

It is important that you use a HARD SATA 2.5 ". The size and speed of the HARD drive should not affect compatibility.

  • Satellite A100-237 / PSAA9 - how to enable AHCI (SATA Native mode)?

    Hello

I have the Satellite A100 - 237 (PSAA9) and I would like to activate the AHCI (SATA Native mode). But in the BIOS there is no settings as AHCI or SATA mode.

Is it possible to enable it in any other way (hidden fixing, utility sw)? Or only new special BIOS for this update (I have the latest 5.90) can solve this problem?

    Thank you for the answers.

No response for the last 5 days. Of course, there is no special hidden parameter or BIOS. ;)

As far as I know that there is no hidden settings and also no special BIOS. If something like that exists perhaps for technicians and non-public use.

  • Can I use CC with pictures on an external hard drive?

I bought Adobe CC and my images are just now in the photos on a Mac. I've never used photo (used opening), but when the upgrade to Yosemite to El Capitan Aperture was more consistent. I have a lot of images, I should Adobe CC a link to the images that I copy on an external hard drive or keep them on the Mac. Totally confused.

You can put your photos in any folder... just you know that you can "confuse" the program if you disconnect the external hard drive

  • Satellite A100-237 (PSAA9) crashes after update BIOS 5.10

There was an update of the available BIOS, I had version 2 before I updated to 5.10.

Now everything has gone well, but the laptop is restarted, it blocks every time on the start screen where the toshiba logo is displayed.
I can't log into BIOS, boot from the CD or anything.
When I press ESC black screen just showing bios version 5.10 memory pass and things, also written there is error TRM (TPM?) or not found.

I used the method of updating the bios windows and followed all the directions, wts the problem?

    Hello

May I ask why you updated the BIOS?
You are 100% sure that you have updated the BIOS with the correct procedure and used the good BIOS?
Have you read the Description of the Toshiba BIOS update before continuing?

As far as I know the BIOS 5.1 has been released to use and install Vista on this laptop!
Hmm, maybe something goes wrong during the update procedure and, therefore, the laptop cannot load and start correctly.

  • Satellite A100 - 065 (PSAANA) - can I spend it with a SATA2 HARD drive?

    Hello Forum!

I want to upgrade to a hard disk of 120 GB (Hitachi) to a 500 GB (Western Digital). I don't know if this A100 supports SATA2.

I think it's to do with the hard disk controllers that are on the motherboard. This is information I don't think (using the pc Wizard). I am very happy to use a SATA drive, if it is the one which is compatible, but if it supports SATA 2, then obviously I would install a because they are 3GB of bandwidth instead of 1.5 GB as SATA.

Any help would be greatly appreciated that my hard drive is full.

    Thanks in advance.

    Hello

You can use a SATA2 HDD without problems. These discs hard are compatible downgrade to the old SATA1 standard, so you can use 500 GB HARD drive, as you suggested.
But don t forget it will not work with SATA1 speeds, but this should not be a problem normally.

So have fun with the new HARD drive! ;)

    Good bye

    Hello

Which driver are you trying to install and why?
I assume you mean the uninstall.exe file... Well, you know that this begins the uninstall process? You should run the file setup.exe or install.exe to install the driver or use the Device Manager installation wizard.

In addition, it would be interesting to know where you downloaded all the drivers

  • No recovery expert on Satellite A100-237 option?

    Hello

I own a laptop Satellite A100-237 which, after a long struggle with attacks from viruses and Trojans, needs a system recovery. I have a package of product recovery 2-CD with Windows XP Home edition with SP2 and all of the drivers/tools etc and the process is supposed to be pretty simple - but I have a serious issue at hand: Partitions.

My 80 GB HD is divided into two partitions: A 60 GB c: the operating system and general purpose and a 20 GB D: for backups of EXTREME IMPORTANCE. Now that I know I can use a 'expert recovery mode"to recover my system while maintaining the back-ups. Now, it's actually where the problem comes in.

When I boot from the restore CD there is absolutely NO OPTION for the 'EXPERT' YEAR RECOVERY MODE!

Simply, I am greeted by a language selection screen. Spent, the family Windows XP Setup option in English or localized version (Turkish, in my case), in both cases the HD everything is wiped out. Next there is a "Cancel" button and a button "settings". 'Abandonment', as well as the label says, shut down the computer. 'Settings', on the other hand, are more complicated. You are presented with a window with a nice slider which culminates at 76 GB - you are supposed to set a default size installation partition. However, in this case, the HD everything gets wiped out as well - you get only a partition of the installation and the remaining space becomes simply "unallocated". I tried each way for a cost of losing all my backups several times without success.

In both cases there is no option to install the operating system on a predefined partition.

There is no 'expert recovery option' accessible from any where inside the installation routine.

I contacted the local Toshiba customer service and Tech Services. and their response is identical and hilarious: "your hard drive is not intended to be used in partitions. You NEED to recover your system as a single partition. Otherwise you won't be eligible to warranty AND TECHNICAL ASSISTANCE! »

I'm pretty sure I'm missing something inside this installation routine, and there should be a way to preserve the back-ups and retrieve only the first partition. Any information would be helpful.

    Thanks in advance.

    Hello

    I understand that you're frustrated.
As much as I know expert recovery mode is not available on the recovery CD because it s a new generation of mobile phones.
As far as I know since 2006, Toshiba laptops come with the new version of the recovery CD. This CD contains the option instead of the normal or expert mode settings.
But in the settings, you should be able to change the size of the HARD disk as in expert mode.

My Satellite phone was delivered with a single partition and I guess that all laptops are delivered also with a single partition (instead of a few Qosmio that uses a Qosmio player on hidden partition). Generally, the recovery CD brings the laptop to factory settings.
I think that every computer made manufacturing only supported hardware issues and not the problems of software (partition is a software problem and does not appear as a factory setting). If you want to do something different on the laptop that you can do, but it s not supported by any computer manufacturing. So I can understand the service guy.

However, the issue of your partition. I think the option settings should allows you to create a new game or to select the partition where the OS is to be installed.
In disk management, you can activate the remaining space and the partition must be visible.
Try to make a backup of your second partition and play with these settings.

  • Satellite A100-237, which is the HARD drive more big, I can install?

    Hello!
Can you guys help me. I have the Satellite A100-237
I would like to buy a new HARD drive (250 GB or 320).
What is the largest HARD drive can I install in this laptop? I couldn't find any info about it.
    Thanks for your help.

    Hello

The point is that there are no details or info on HARD drive sizes compatible max.
    If we can only speculate.
Is the laptop seems to support SATA hard drives and in my opinion one 250 GB or more should work.
But this is only a personal opinion, and it would be very interesting to know if a HDD 320 would work too.

Please post some comments after you have upgraded the HARD drive.

    Hi all!

Once again, the same problem with the update of the BIOS...

    Quotting there
    http://forums.computers.Toshiba-Europe.com/forums/message.jspa?MessageID=121750#121750

"I decided to update the BIOS on my Toshiba laptop Satellite A100 - 712 PSAA9E to the latest version available (6.00).

The installation is completed normally (went through all the steps, wrote to all 21 blocks) without any error, but after the reboot, I noticed that it is now displayed at the Toshiba logo screen.

The blue progress bar moves twice but got caught then about 1/3 of the way through.
To see how bad the damage was, I Press esc at the beginning of the POST and saw that it gives me the right Version of the BIOS (6.00).

He also told me that "no TPM or TPM has problem" and "2039 M RAM Passed system."
It then displays the message "Press to enter SETUP" (which makes the message disappears, but otherwise doesn't do anything.

If I press F2 during the Toshiba logo screen, it replaces the bottom with "Please wait" message and nothing happens"

    Wayting for the answer!

    Hello

I posted this already in another view about a similar BIOS problem.

To me, it seems that something was wrong during the process of updating the BIOS, and if you're lucky, the flashing of the ROM BIOS might help you.

As far as I know that you would need a BIOS version of special rescue and the drive to reflash the module ROM that you do not and therefore, you will need to contact the ASP in your country for assistance.

This isn't a real solution that you expect, but it s an advice how to get a solution
This is why I would recommend contacting the ASP in your country for the control of the laptop

  • Satellite A100-912 (PSAA9E) a device is missing after installing Vista

    Dear,

I recently received a Satellite A100 - 912 (PSAA9E). Windows XP Home was preinstalled operating system. But when I installed Vista Ultimate, the Device Manager shows that a device is missing pilot. Its properties show that it is located on PCI, device 6 7 Bus and function 3.

I downloaded the drivers all listed for the toshiba site system. So, can someone tell me what device it is and where I can find the driver for it? All devices such as the display, sound, modem, lan/wlan, player card, fingerprint reader, buttons of media multi burner Super multi and touch to touch work well.

    Hey Buddy,

I Don t really know what device it is, but you can for example try a linux live cd. The live cd lists you start a list of pci devices so you can find that materials are in your machine.

Alternatively, you can perform a search in google for 'list of pci Vista' and you might find some pci list of tools that can help you get information about unknown material thjat.

    Welcome them
