Satellite A100-583 keeps closing

Hello

I have an A100 and it is less than 12 months old and began to close, though. It does not actually close down the screen turns off but is still. All power indicators are on, but it won t do anything.

The only thing I can do is to remove the battery and restart. It seems not to count how many time I've used it as he has done after 20 minutes or much longer.

Hello

Mhhh. According to this description the Satellite A100 begins after several time freezing. That sounds like an overheating problem! Especially, the temperature rises to a higher level because the module cooling fans could not turn and could not cool the laptop with a maximum performance parts.

Well, you could try to clean the fans with the hose of the vacuum cleaner against the vents. For most this very simple process helps.
But look, man. This can be done at your own risk! I see that you laptop isn't old and maybe the guarantee could be valid!

So in your case, it s advisable to contact the guys from services in your country.
They could professionally cleaned the laptop!

    Hi all

I have a Satellite A100-225 with a 100 GB SATA Hitachi drive I int it that recently started showing bad sectors. Then I bought a Hitachi 320 GB SATA II drive to replace it. I tried the drive and it was recognized right away, so I didn't need to change the SATA speed. I ran the restore a disk installed newest. The problem I have is that the computer keeps freezing and crashing with the new drive. It takes a lot of time to load up when turned on and there is a noticeable to untermittant delay when you drag the cards around solo.

I tried to run the Hitachi drive test and it comes back fine. I also tried to turn the SATA speed of the drive down from 300 to 150 via the firmware, and although I saw a slight improvement, it is still not right.

I talked to Hitachi and they say that he could not be 100% compatible, so the problems. Someone at - it else sucessfully set up a replacement for this notebook drive and if so what make and model. Has anyone else had simular problems?

    Thank you

Years ago, I've updated yet more former Satellite M70 with SATA HDD (270 GB if I m remembering well) and everything was fine.
In my view upgrade with SATA HDD normal shouldn't be a problem. Do not SATA II because it will not work faster.

I can't say for sure, but there must be a compatibility problem.

Let's see if someone else had better luck with the upgrade of the disk on the Satellite A100.

Have you checked this forum with advanced search option? Maybe you can find some old NET on upgrade the HDD on A100.

I have a series of satellite Pro L300 running Windows Vista Business and have problems with him closing by itself without known reason, then it restarts only sometimes.

    The startup repair does nothing.

    Hello

I think it might be related to high temperatures.

Have you noticed a hot air coming from vents?

Usually the laptop stops automatically to avoid that the pieces of equipment against damage.

So you need to check if the vents are clogged with dust and debris in most cases you can remove it using a jet of compressed air.

  • Satellite A60-302 keeps closing

    Hello

Recently, I noticed that our a60 started running slower and slower. It has been upgraded to 1.25 GB of memory without a lot of speed increase. I checked for viruses and malware and it's clean, I tried to clean the fan aswell (it is not so easy to get in) without much success. It seems very quickly throw the hot air and the fan is constantly ramp up full in an attempt to cool. In the last two weeks, it turns itself just to the, which I guess means now that it is overheating.

No idea what to try next? It executes the BIOS 1.9, but I also noticed that things like Firefox or IE can sometimes take 90% of the time CPU for some time, which I guess also puts strain on the CPU. I would go to the bottom of why it is overheating so fast today, and if that's the cause of it works more slowly and more slowly, or if the idle is causes the load on the CPU and it overheats.

    Hello

a reason may be that the cooling system of your machine is clobbed with dust. I suggest you to buy compressed air in a box (available in the electronic markets (is)
and clean your cooling system (fans, etc...). If the problem persists, it would be preferable for you to contact a technician for laptop computers and let them clean out
    the cooling system.

Should help, I got the same thing with the mother Satellite 2430, so after cleaning, the technician has applied new cooling grease for the CPU.
After that the machine runs smoothly and well.

    Try it :)

  • Satellite A100-583: Question of precision mouse

I have two of these PCs and both have what I would descibe as an irritaing.
When you rest the mouse on the reduction, enlarge, close window boxes is not always accurate. It also applies when the selection OK boxes etc. If you are not good in the Middle, it doesn't work, makes a 'ping' annoyong and you have to move the mouse somewhere else, click on an empty space or something, then come back and try again.

Also by selecting the bar on the right for slide down can lead to the reduction in the window and sometimes I had to enarge the screen several times after trying. I've never had this problem with another laptop or desktop.

He made slecting the items in the drop-down boxes difficult and uncertain, especially passwords!

I've noticed it seems to happen when selecting with one tap instead of using the button on the left which seems more accurate.

Sometimes by tapping a small box appears which in itself has a button down with a high and arrow. It would seem that there is no use for this little box is?

I know there is a pointer precision option, but it does not help in this case.

    Hello

Sometimes using the touchpad, or only with a USB mouse?
To me, it sounds like a problem of Windows operating system and not a hardware problem.

As described, try to update the driver for the touchpad. What happens if you disable the Touchpad with FN + F9 and use only the mouse?

  • Upgrade memory of Satellite A100

    Hi all
I have a satellite A100-583, which currently has 1 GB of ram and want to know which is the bigger it can be upgraded to and it is worth it, also need to be replaced with 533ddr2 or can it be replaced by 667 and who is a better upgrade?
Can you also tell me what is SODIMM and if that makes a difference?

    Hello

the machine can be upgraded to a maximum of 4 GB of main memory, and if it s worthy can per person answer, but only by yourself.

Do you really need it? I think would be best that go you to 2 GB from you´re not a graphic designer who has larger images (which can be a few gigabytes high :)).

As a normal vista/XP user, you need only 2 GB. You even won´t not recognize the jump of 1 GB, 2 GB of RAM or more.

Regarding the modules FSB frequency: it doesn´t matter how often you use, you really won´t winning performance when you use the 667 mhz modules, if just to get a nice pair of 2x2gb with 533 Mhz sticks and just enjoy the 'speed '.

    Here´s a little explanation for S0-DIMM:

  • Satellite P750 keeps closing

Hi guys, I am a newcomer.

My friend, but I have a Toshiba Satellite P750 (PSAY3A - 05S 001) and had trouble with her then she asked me if I could fix it and I accepted his favor.

According to her, the laptop cannot boot on the windows that display an error to the screen, and she added that the keyboard does not seem to work that gives me and it's just a hard drive error or should reformat.

I applied the solution to his problem, but it seems that it's not simple, because after formatting the laptop keeps closing and start on its own. I asked him about the closure, and she has no idea why so much. She added that the laptop can be tempered.

I tried to open up the laptop, but unfortunately I was scared and screwed back together.

    Hello

Unfortunately there is no specific information on this laptop, and that's what we have here is nothing more than speculation.
If the laptop was soaked that there are probably maonboard the troublemaker and should probably be replaced.

Error, the screen keyboard is not working, laptop guard stop and start on its own... all of this indicates that this model of laptop has a serious hardware problem and I sure it's m motherboard.
Please don't get me wrong, but your opportunities to do something about it are very limited and I think this laptop should be controlled by technicians. They have special diagnostic tools and they can check if there is a problem with the motherboard.

  • Satellite A100 keeps freezing after a short period

Hi, I wonder if anyone can help.

I have a Satellite A100 laptop. The laptop starts without any problem. However, after a short period of time the system crashes and I have to reboot the machine.

I am running Windows XP Home Edition. I tried to reinstall a new copy of windows XP Edition family. However, the laptop continues to freeze when I try to do something.

Although the real time, it takes before it freezes changes each time.

I have two 512 MB RAM chips, and I thought it was a fault memory. So I took each chip out, leaving the other chip in. It makes no difference, the machine hangs with either chip.

Help, please. I would like to hear from anyone who might suggest what's not here.

    Thanks in advance

Maybe the temperature inside the laptop could be the reason of this gel.
I had once similar there is question. My frizzy 6 specifications because the temperature affected the memory modules.
So I cleaned the cooling fans using a jet of compressed air and I replaced the thermal grease which is a space between the cooling module and CPU. This helped...

You can try to clean the cooling also fans. But be careful and if you have no experience, then a mobile technician should help you.

    Good luck

  • Satellite A100 - keeps freezing and crashing

    Hello
I've got a 2.5 years old Satellite A100. He was going well until recently, when I found that the pc freezes completely - this looks only happen when I move the cursor on the screen. The only thing I can do, it's a hard re-boot.
The problem has become more common, and I had to reinstall the operating system (using the disc that came with the laptop). After you have reinstalled everything worked well. But all of a sudden the same problem reappeared. I thought maybe it was different software clash between them and so I once again re-formatted the hard drive and reinstalled the operating system.
This time it froze once more as I move the mouse around the screen. But it's happened before that I had installed anything on the PC. It is an entirely new installation.

I also want to mention that this problem occurred first a year ago. At that time I had to wipe the hard drive and reinstall the OS and it worked fine until about 2 weeks ago, when I've updated my "spybot search & destroy ' software." It was after this the problem started again. The rest of the story is as above.

Just to mention that, after that the problem started 2 weeks ago, I reinstall the mouse driver using the touchpad driver that is available on the Web from Toshiba site.

Please help - I have been re - install the OS on / off power for 2 weeks now and I still have the problem. I am close to giong out and buy a new PC!

    Hello

It's strange, and I think it looks like a hardware issue because you used the disk recovery Toshiba and after that, the same problem occurs.

But it's not easy to say what causes this problem. You can check the RAM and HARD drive using Drive Fitness Test and Memtest86. Use Google to find the two programs. You can download an image bootable in these two programs. You must burn it to a CD and boot from it.
If the peut t-tests is a mistake your laptop should be checked by a technician for laptop.

Maybe you can find the problem yourself, and to swap the RAM or HARD drive, it's pretty easy.

    Welcome them

  • Problem of closing on the Satellite A100-906

    Hello.
I use a Satellite A100-906. The problem is the thing began to close when starting hot (and NOT too hot, too, paying all in 35 minutes of play or so!)
    Can anyone help?

    Thanks in advance

    SARP

According to the description of your problem in short, there must be an overheating problem. For me, the first step is to make the laptop clean. It may be that the cooling fans are full of dust and dirt blocking the air flow. The result is material high temperature.

Or, you can try to do it alone by using vacuum or pay for professional cleaning.

  • Satellite A100-811 - maximum memory capacity

I have an old A100-811 Satellite with Windows XP SP3. It has 1 GB of memory (2 x 512). I want to improve the memory. What should I do?

    1. put another memory of 2 GB so the total is 2.5 GB (will I get in trouble for using two types of 512 MB and 2 GB memory?)

    2 put 2 x 1 GB total 2 GB (for better styling?)

    3. put 2 x 2 GB. But will I have the 4 GB memory full or only 3 GB because of the limitations of memory Win Xp?

Do I need a BIOS update for this?

Thanks in advance for any info!

    Hi skga100,

The maximum capacity of RAM in Satellite A100-811 is 4 GB. This means that you can install 2 GB in each slot.

Usually for Windows XP 2 GB is enough but I want to upgrade to Vista or Windows 7, you should think about 3 or 4 GB

In your case, I would buy a 2GB memory module. If you are on the safe side.
Why? If you want to install Vista or Windows 7 later, you can buy a second memory module and keep your 2 GB module. Who s the easiest way. :)

And no, upgrading the BIOS is not necessary.

  • Satellite A100-906 does not cool boot

    Hello
I'm new here on the forum, so hi to everyone.
I have this Toshiba Satellite A100-906, one I'm trying to fix and explain (because up to now, I tried a lot of things) the problem.
It has Windows XP Pack 2 and every time that I perfom a Toshiba start log on the collar, but stops loading Windows. This only happens to the cold start, I mean after two-three times closing down and start again from the power button, I can stop and start the laptop normally.
What I've tried (even have a tech): run the Test Mem, repair Windows registry, update bios, update drivers, reinstall OS form the recovery CD - NOTHING!

    Thanks in advance

    Hi marina_2,

Which is really strange and I m wondering have you always this strange behavior after using the Toshiba recovery disc. Normally with this disc, you get back factory settings where everything should work properly.

Well, I think that it s a hardware malfunction, but it is difficult to tell what it is exactly. You can try to check the disk with Drive Fitness Test or another tool (ask Google for it).

Contacting one ASP would also be an option I think

  • Error recovery on Satellite A100

    Hello people!

Well, I've had my Toshiba Satellite A100 for almost 1 year, and I have these non-removable spyware and ad-aware. But besides that, I want to reformat my pc but I can't. When I choose for the boot device cd-rom drive, loading RAMDisk image, it comes up with an instant message and then he disappears, but I noted to see F6 and so I rebooted the DVD again and I spammed F6. And this is what happens:

"Setup could not determine the type of computer you have, or you have chosen to manually specify the type of computer.
Select the type from the following list, or select "other" If you have a device support disk provided by the manufacturer of your computer.

    ACPI Multiprocessor PC
    ACPI Uniprocessor PC
Advanced Configuration and power interface (ACPI) PC
    NPS Uniprocessor PC
    NPS Multiprocessor PC
    Standard PC
    Others. "

I thought, if I use the mechanical system or something else, can I just reformat with that entirely and then I use the toshiba recovery cd and I think I have the windows xp cd. Can I install windows xp from there and then go down all of the toshiba utilities download site and install them? Or does install the drivers to display with the recovery cd or I see nothing and I will stuff my pc up to? Lol usually whenever I have try sumfin to help my pc I usually have the wreck it. So I've always guaranteed, so I might even go back to there. But I would appreciate if you guys can help.

    Thank you

    Adam

    Hello Adam

Honestly, your ad is so complicated and confusing for me I will just try to explain how you can install OS on your Satellite A100.

If you want to install the operating system, you can do on two tracks:
-Sent using recovery DVD set in ODD and turn off. Turn it back on and immediately press the C button. keep it down for a short period and the ODD is obliged first to start device. When the facility starts just follow the on-screen menu.
-You can use the Microsoft facilities (full version) CD. Install the OS and after that you need to install all the drivers, tools and utilities manually. All the stuff you can find on the download page of Toshiba under http://eu.computers.toshiba-europe.com support & downloads

Before you format drive HARD trying to create own Tools & Utilities CD. This option you will find Toshiba Assist Protect & Fix tab.

All that s! If I misunderstood something please post again.
