  Its been 10 days since I brought my Satellite C660 - series laptop.

  Fn + F6 or Fn + F7 keys for brightness control do not work. I see no change in brightness. There is no information or indication of the setting shown on the display.

  Can anyone suggest an alternative to set the brightness of the screen?

  Other keys FN + Fx work correctly?
  You can change the display brightness by using the power management option?

  On my Satellite Pro S500 (preinstalled Windows 7 64-bit) change the brightness by pressing FN - F6 or FN + F7 does not work. The other NF - f... combinations seem to work correctly.

  When I press FN - F6 (or F7) a control box to change the brightness to poster (as expected), but the level is still displayed as "1" independent of the current value (for example changed from Control Panel or with the eco utility) and it is not possible to change it with FN - F6 or F7. I just reinstalled vap and restarted the computer, but nothing has changed.

  In my opinion, you should try a system restore to an earlier point. Maybe something messed up the registry, you can start System Restore in Windows Advanced Boot menu.

  From my own experience, I can say that all the FN buttons work perfectly after hibernation, standby, restart, etc.. No problem at all!

  I put t know what is the problem, but in your case would be to reinstall the package of added value and utility to Support Flash Cards. Two tools to control the FN key functions and can be downloaded from the official page of Toshiba.

  But before you reinstall it, remove older versions first. Then install VAP, restart and finally Flash Cards Support utility.

  I have a Toshiba C650 - model I5011 with Ubuntu 10.3. I have a problem that, even after having pressed the Fn + F6 key, the brightness of my change of does'nt LCD.

  As you probably know Toshiba doesn't support Linux and you will be lucky if someone here would be able to offer assistance.
  I recommend to visit some Linux forum and ask there. The Forum of Linux you have better chance of assistance with that.

  When I try to adjust the brightness of the screen by pressing the Fn key and pressing the up/down arrows, nothing happens. I finally found it to work several months ago.   I just tried this and IT WORKED! I don't know how much luck you'll have, but try the Fn key and pressing the up and down arrows while your computer starts. It worked for me. For my Inspiron 1420, I adjusted the brightness, while he was when the screen went black and the words "Microsoft Corporation" above and the Green loading bar going across the screen. That's what I did and I hope it works for you! :)

I even it was replaced by another one thinking that there could be some problems with the drivers, but it still does not work. whenever I plug in a device such as an mp3 player, a digital camera or a usb storage device, windows locks all of a sudden upward, won't move the cursor, the function ctrl-alt-del does not work and the worst of it, I can't turn off the machine!

  Have you checked the Bios? I guess that the Bios Toshiba was preinstalled on your laptop. Am I wrong? There should be an option to change the PC Card controller mode.

  Here, you can change the mode of the automatic selection, CCIP compatible controller or card bus/16-bit.
  If the card supports 32-bit so you should use the 16-bit option.

  I think you should play a little with this option and possibly that the card will work.

  Keep in mind that WordPerfect 7 is a very old version - eight versions. Usually very old versions of almost any program do not work on newer versions of Windows. I don't know about you, but I suspect that you must upgrade to a newer version of WordPerfect.
