Satellite A100-784: fact partition system restore DVD formats

Hi guys,.

I would ask you for help :)

I have a Toshiba Satellite A100-784 with Windows Vista Home Basic OEM.
I have this Toshiba system recovery DVD. If I press F8 during start up I get to the screen where are some options (repair at startup etc.) but I'm interesting in 'Exploitation Windows System Restore'.
I have two partitions (C:, D :), the system partition is C: :)
So, I would ask if I use this "Exploitation Windows System Restore" there he reformatted data on the D: partition as well?

If I press F8 when booting I get to the menu, I chose this computer repair and after that there are options:

1 startup repair.)
2 system restore.)
Restoration complete 3 PC.) Windows
Memory 4 Diagnostic tool.) Windows
5. command prompt)
6 operating system restore.) Windows

Is it possible to use one of these function just to reinstal C: partition without losing data on the D: partition?

Thanks for the reply :)

Hi friend

usually the system restore the c: partition fair DVD formats, so if you have two separate partitions, the restore DVD should leave the D: partition intact.
In your case I would choose point 6. (Operating system restore) that supposedly only restores the operating system, which means that it scratches the C: drive...

    Hi all

I have the Satellite A100-784, which comes with Vista Home...
How could I make another copy of the DVD from my recovery disc?

Also, I don't have the Toshiba Recovery Disc Creator... is downloadable?

    Hello

You n t have the Toshiba Recovery Disc Creator, because this Toshiba Software is preinstalled on laptops equipped with HARD drive recovery option.
I presume that you have received a Toshiba Recovery disk this laptop doesn t allow HARD drive recovery.
Therefore, you cannot create a new DVD of recovery using the Toshiba Recovery Disc Creator.

What you could do is to copy the supplied recovery disk.

  • Satellite A100-784 (PSAANE) - CPU is 100% most of the time

    Hello

I have this Toshiba Satellite A100-784 and it has Vista Home Basic as the operating system. The CPU is at 100% most of the time, and I don't know what to do more (I've eliminated all unnecessary programs that might have a background process). Sill, form 100% of the CPU, the core load takes 40 to 60% most of the time.
I thought to install XP to make it work, but after reading the forum is not that simple, due to the fact that the HARD drive can be SATA.

Can you help me with this situation? I can hardly work on this laptop and I think to change the brand if I don't find a solution to this, even Toshiba is my favorite.
Thanks for your time answering this problem.

    Kind regards!

All you have done is just, but you must understand that no one knows here Setup OS and what you've done in the past.
If you are not satisfied with the way in which your laptop is now running the best thing you can do is to back up all your important data and install Vista using delivered Toshiba Recovery CD/DVDs.

After doing this you will own preinstalled OS and everything should be OK again.

  • Satellite A100 - 784 PSAANE - screen turns off automatically

    Hi friends,

I have a Toshiba Satellite A100 - 784 PSAANE with windows visa Home Basic edition.
Now for 15-20 days I am facing a strange problem. The screen of the laptop emits a sometimes (not necessarily every time) and then when the frequency increases the display turns off automatically!
Then I must Hibernate or he put laptop to sleep to find again the screen... Seriously, I don't understand the problem.

    Please help me.
    Thanks in advance

    Hi Julie,.

It sounds as if something is harming your graphics driver causing the display to turn off. If the problem occurs only when you use certain applications or only started after installing a new application you may need to restore your system to a restore point before new applications have been installed. As a test, you can try to start your system in safe mode and see if the problem persists.

I also recommend that you re-install your graphics drivers to see if it improves the problem.

Other possibilities are that your graphics chip is a failure or overheating causing this problem in which case you have to return your laptop to a Service approved for the additional diagnostic agent.

My last thought is that you may have a problem with the inverter FL (the component that provides the lighting of your LCD screen). Check, when the screen turns off, if you can still see a residual image on the screen. If yes then the FL inverter is definitely at fault.

    Kind regards

  • Satellite A100 - 784 PSAANE: Installation of Vista Edition Home Premium processor in a box

Hi guys, I would like to ask you a difficult question for me :)

I have Toshiba Satellite A100 - 784 PSAANE with Windows Vista Home Basic 32-bit OEM Czech and
DVD from Toshiba product recovery. I converted (boxed) Windows Vista Home Premium SP1 Eng as a gift
There are. And now to the point :) - I would like to install this new Vista Home Premium instead of
    Home base OEM.

1.) am I allowed to install Home Premium without any problem? (I'm worried the WinRE partition)

2.) if I can't do it because of the WinRE partition, can I save this partition and remove it?

(3.) if I do, I am able to download all the drivers from Toshiba site driver Toshiba (value
added package for the most part)?

4.) I am able to download all the utilities Toshiba?

5.) if I use the product Recovery DVD in the future (with this Home Basic OEM), it will work if WinRE partition
    is deleted?

    Thank you for your response.

    Hello

    (1) you can install the new Vista easily. When installing new Vista installation program should create a new WinRE partition too. If don t be worried. But I recommend creating a backup of your important files such as mp3, photos, etc...

    (2) you can do the installation should be possible and should go smoothly. But don t forget to include the SATA drivers that are necessary to recognize the HARD drive. On the Toshiba page, you might find the Intel Storage Manager that contains the SATA driver. Include the driver during the installation procedure using the F6 key.

    (3) Yes, Vista drivers should appear on the page of the European driver Toshiba.

    (4) see point 3 ;)

    (5) the product recovery DVD will format the whole HARD drive. It will delete the partitions and all will remove the HARD drive. And it will also create the new WinRE partition. Simply said; the Toshiba Vista recovery DVDs will fix the laptop back to factory settings

    Hello

The drivers are part of the image of Toshiba that is stored on the recovery disk.
So, you can use the Toshiba Recovery disk if you want to reinstall the Vista operating system and all the drivers and tools of Toshiba.

By the way; Only Toshiba drivers are also available on the European driver Toshiba page.

  • On the Satellite A100-784 Internet connection does not work

I use a Satellite A100-784 with Vista Home Basic and a US Robotics router. My question/problem is that when I discover the network connection, it shows I am connected to the router, but not to the internet even though I am.

It is a quirk of the Vista operating system or is it normal if you use a router? Should I worry or not?

Thank you all in advance and my apologies for the newbie question.

Each router must be configured and the right data ISP (internet service provider) must be inserted.

    -Don't configure you the router?
-How about the TCP/IP settings? All the settings are set to automatic?
-How about firewalls? Have you used one or you turn it?
    -Have you tested different browsers?

    Please check the points above.

  • Satellite A100-784 - Intel PRO Wireless 3945ABG off randomly

    Hello

I have Toshiba Satellite A100-784 with Intel PRO Wireless 3945ABG wireless adapter.
Today I was working with my friend on some project connected on his wifi sharing internet connection on Toshiba Satellite A100-510.
After a while I lose the internet connection and I see that this blue icon is no longer in the test system.

I try to use Toshiba ConfigFree but it was impossible to open, so I try to open the network connection of the control panel and after a period of time the network connection has been accessible and I saw that this network adapter is disabled. I try to activate three times but nothing.

After rebooting, everything was ok and wireless adapter is turned on and ready to use for the next 10 or 15 minutes.
First disable comes after two hours. I use Windows XP SP 2.

The problem is that I have to restart my computer everytime where I lose internet connection (WiFi is turned off automatically).
Everything is blocked its very hard to access the settings of network or toshiba configfree

    Thank you

    Try this:

Update the BIOS of the laptop
    Update driver Intel Wireless LAN
Use static IP addresses, instead of dynamic (DHCP)
    Temporarily disable your firewall software
Update the Firmware on your Access Point

    Hi guys,.

I want to ask you. I started using the AdvancedCare system and the menu "update Driver" it showed me that I should download Intel INF Update Utility (http://downloadcenter.intel.com/Detail_Desc.aspx?agr=Y&DwnldId=16023&lang=eng).

But I'm confused now if I have to install it when Windows Update never showed me this update possible.

Is my laptop Toshiba A100 - 784 PSAANE and I use Windows Vista Ultimate 32-bit (No OEM base Vist I got when I bought this laptop).

    Thanks for your advice.

    Daniel

    Hello

Satellite A100 - 784 PSAANE works without problem?
If Yes, then why you want to update anything?

I have followed this recommendation; never change a running system.

And in addition only a hint: use always the Toshiba page tools and drivers. Don t install any driver tool from 3rd party page if it of not really necessary.

    Good bye

    Hello

You can't compare this computer models two laptops. Now we have time to Vista and many things have changed.
As far as I know Vista something like this is not possible. On my Satellite P200 Vista is the same. Just several, I assume that most importantly, drivers are stored on the HARD drive.

Anyway, if you need Vista drivers you can find all the on Toshiba page under http://eu.computers.toshiba-europe.com for assistance

looking forward for your reply because I need to address it quickly. It is for professional use.

    Thanks in advance...

    Hello

The Toshiba driver page offers drivers for Satellite A100 series and not for simple models like A100-784.
Satellite A100-784 seems to be a part of the series PSAANE.
Therefore, look for this number in the form of driver download!

However, I checked this page of the Toshiba driver and found only a driver of sound for this camera!
    But not don t worry!
The A100 series mainly come with the same hardware devices and drivers from other laptops A100 could be compatible and can run on your device.

Take my advice and try to install the unique drivers of different Satellite A100 and Equium A100 series. This can help

For the last 10 days or so I don't know, but I see a different type of shortcuts and the desktop.ini files all over the PC!

    I don't understant that...
There was some new files in existence to which I do not have access! Some shortcuts came over some of my hidden files are out!

I mean they are seen hidden at all and as recycler or something!
I don't know what happened... I find the file desktop.ini anywhere...

Please if anyone knows what happened please answer...

    Thank you very much..

I hope that my laptop is not crazy!
    Kind regards
    Perkins

Don t be angry with me, but who needs to know what you did on your laptop?

Maybe you have something has changed accidentally or installed any 3rd party applications that could have a bad influence on the settings of Vista (Yes, that is possible) or you get any Virus or malware.

You may be able to see the hidden files and system, because this option has been activated.
So, try to activate the hide option in the folder options.

Or you'll flip the BONE to the beginning!

  • System Restore DVD Vista vs Windows 7

I'm new here and I apologize if this has been asked before.  I looked around and tried to search but can't find my answer.

I just reveived my new HP Pavilion dv7t last night.  Notebook Essentials booklet says to create a set of DVD system restore, but This can only be done once.  I am in the process to register for the upgrade to Windows 7 snce is expected within a week.

Should I go ahead and create the restore DVD system with the Vista operating system, and if I do I then will be able to create another System Restore DVD for Windows 7?

I want to assure you that I have a restore of the system based on both operating systems, where I need to go back to Vista, but still have a system for Windows 7 restore, if it proves to be stable and I like the OS.

    I hope this makes sense...

Make your Vista recovery DVD. Two reasons...

    1. you will not be able to do a cover of 7 Win set, (unless, of course, HP offers a magic here).

    2. If you install Win 7 and you need to reinstall it later, you will have to start with the Vista installation and repeat the upgrade process (unless HP upgrade version works differently from the retail... version did not get a response on this one here).

Of course, you can always use an application of imaging to make an image of the newly installed Win 7 to use in the case of a reinstall. Acronis True Image or Macrium Reflect are 2 choices. Macrium is my preference.

    Hello

looks like a hardware failure. Maybe a faulty display ups or something similar. I suggest you:

Bring your machine to an authorized local ASP. They must correct this mistake and replace defective parts of your laptop.
Here´s a link to find a few ASP in your area:
