Satellite A100 and memory upgrade

Satellite A100-523. Why only increase my memory to 1536 MB and 2048MB not as shown in the analysis of the product?
The laptop won't shoot upward on 2048MB.

Has your laptop memory graphics card shared?

I want to be as sure as I can be, I already bought memory from Crucial - it does not work... so I want to be sure that I understand the next time.

Satellite A100-232, currently has 512 MB - I believe that I can go up to 2 GB and understand that 2 x 1 GB is better than 1 x 2 GB - is this true?

Next - WHO? memory - based on a search on their site, I bought 2 x 1 GB sticks of Crucial, they advised DDR2 PC2 5300 and it did not work. Despite repeated emails, they insist that these sticks are the 'replacement' for DDR2 PC2 4200 (who is now strongly indicated to me according to my recent research such as correct memory - part # PA3411U-1M1G).

If I buy now 2 x 1 GB - DDR2 PC2 4200 (from a different supplier of course) will I do the right thing? Assuming that the new work of memory, I get in touch with Crucial for money (of course).

You can upgrade the RAM to 2 GB and generally, you must use 2 x 1 GB RAM 533 Mhz.
In my case, a big module was not recognized. I had to use 2 x 1 GB of RAM, but I put t have this template.

I recommend using brand modules; Kingston is good and provides good quality modules.
Different manufacturers provide less expensive modules but the performance and the quality is not really good.

  • Satellite A100 stops after upgrade memory

Consider me the thickie Pack 1... Not sure wot im talkin end but n e way...
    Have a Satellite A100 570 (PSAA2E)...

Tried several websites online lookin for memory upgrade. Did not have the witt to use the toshiba site... Eventually get to the point...
Ran the Diagnostics on laptop and sent module one needed.or so I thought... wrong 1 or 1 s I bought 2 x 1 G modules in order to 'double '...

Got my money because they were not compatible with my system... something to do with the problems of density...
Tried company called OFFTEK... they seemed to know what they were talkin' about... I'm Offtek. at present one...

    200-pin 1.8V SoDimm PC2 - 4200 DDR2... but Toshiba recommended below...

    1 GB memory DDR2 PC2-4300 (533 MHz)
    Part number: PA3411U-2M1G
    1024 MB (1 GB) memory PC2 - 4300 DDR2 (533 MHz)

Theres an obvious difference... 4200 and 4300. But I'm not sure if there is a significant difference... or what it means
Update the bios to the version latest and basically put all that toshiba had to offer for this model...

EVEREST ran and it recognizes the module 1 G but when I pull out the original 512 MB module, the laptop starts for about 3 seconds then stops...
This repeats about 5 times then fill stop...

I don't like open the back cover too often but it's the 3rd module...
Don't know what is supposed to happen if the module works... IE launch message... dunno if windows recognizes module 1 G...
Would be - this bet safer to send Offtek module and stick with option of toshiba...

    Hey Buddy

    Have a look here:
    Memory for Toshiba Satellite A100-570
    http://www.orcalogic.co.UK/ASP/ProdType.asp?ProdType=23658&ft=m&St=3

You can use the DDR2 533 MHz (PC2-4200) 200 - PIN SODIMM bars!

The pc2-4300 Rams are the same as PC2-4200. It s just a marketing gag PC2-4300 are PC2-4200 modules that can be overclocked by some versions of BIOS PC desktop

However, you must take the PC2-4200.

  • Satellite A100-011 - RAM upgrade

    Hello

    I have laptop Satellite A100-011. And I want to improve his memory. It has 1 GB of ram DDR2 533 hz. My questions are the following;
    1. how many ram slots have?
2-can we add 2 GB of ram DDR2 533 hz more, if so, will total 3GB? Or shoud I replace 2 GB 1 GB?
3 - ? It s possible to use DDR3 Rams or different frequency as 800 Hz?
4 - What brand should I use to upgrade? Kingston etc?
5 - ? f I upgrade the memory of my laptop, can I install windows7 32 bit (I have windows vista at the moment)

    Thanks in advance

    Hello

I'll try to give you some answers:

    # According to specification of laptop there two RAM slots
    # Your laptop can handle with 4 GB max, then you can do whatever you want and it depends on how much RAM you want to have inside. You can buy a module of RAM of 2 GB and 3 GB of RAM. That should be enough to work with Vista or Win7 even. Of course, you can upgrade to maximum and buy 2 X 2 GB.
    # It has no meaning at all. If the speed of the FSB of your motherboard is 53 MHz why use 800 MHZ modules. Your laptop will not be faster because of Rams with more MHz.
    # Yes, Kingston product high quality and using Kingston modules, you should not have compatibility problems.
    # I put t see any reason why you shouldn't be able to install Win7, but before this visit Toshiba support page and check if your phone model is supported for Win7.

  • Satellite A100 - 521 RAM upgrade only works with original RAM in place

I am trying to upgrade the memory to 2 GB, as described in the user manual.

The computer does not start with the two new modules inserted. It will start with 1 GB installed in each slot until the original 256 MB module is inserted in the drive on the right, but does not work when the two 1 GB modules are inserted. There are 2 slots and the maximum is 2 GB for this computer. It told me to update the BIOS that I have on this site, but did not work.

I am currently using 1 modules of 1 GB and 256 MB provided with the computer module. I have a Toshiba Satellite A100-521.

    Concerning

    Hello!

The two new modules have the same specifications as the old module?

In my opinion, the new modules are perhaps not fully compatible with your laptop or are not compatible in Dual Channel mode.
What is the exact label of the two modules?

For the upgrade, you need DDR2-533 modules. I searched a bit using Google and the reference is PA3411U-1M1G.

  • Satellite Pro 4300 - memory upgrade problem

    Hello

I know that the issue has been already discussed several times, but it seems that none of the solutions or suggestions posted earlier apply to my situation.
I recently bought an old Toshiba Satellite Pro 4300. The laptop has a slot filled memory of 64 MB module of the system's total memory was 128 MB.
Because in my opinion, the system has worked to slow down, I decided to buy an additional memory module. I bought 128 MB - module TOSHIBA PA3005U k and placed in the slot B

I was very surprised when I found that, after the upgrade, Windows showed that the total memory is 192 MB.
When I put the 128 MB in the slot module is and the old module of 64 MB in the slot B - the surprise was even bigger, given that windows showed only 128 MB.

I first thought that the slot B is defective, but in this case, it would be impossible to get in the first place the 192 MB. Then I thought that the new module of memory was either defective or it was 64 MB instead of 128 MB, but this option is also likely, according to my observations. Furthermore, I checked with EVEREST software system and it recognizes the new module as 128 MB module, but does not see the old 64 MB module.

The situation is quite strange. Does anyone has an idea whay happens?

    Kind regards

    Sebastian

To my knowledge, the 4300 Satellite Pro can be upgraded to 320 MB max.
    http://www.orcalogic.co.UK/ASP/ProdType.asp?ProdType=5769&ft=m&St=3

64 MB module which was fitted with your laptop should not be removable.
So in this slot ONLY this 64 MB module could work properly.

I know it's strange but the computer world is sometimes strange ;) you know :D

  • Satellite S1800-204: memory upgrade

    Hi all

I have a Toshiba Satellite S1800-204 memory which I just try to improve, two sticks of Kingston, 64 MB PC100 144pin SODIMM (like the one provided with the laptop) to two sticks of Crucial 256 MB PC100 144pin SODIMM. The laptop will post more, and even if the power light is on it will not start. The screen remains black. The manual of user leads me to believe that it is capable of supporting up to 512 MB and I can not find all the features that say the new memory should not be working.

Can someone help to solve my problem or tell me where I have gone wrong? I hope we have not bombed just from all this money for nothing.

    Spanky

    Hello

Yes. I also think that you should check if your modules are compatible.
I found in the official document that this device supports these modules:

    PC100 256 MB (PA3069U - 1 M 25)
    PC100 128 MB (PA3005U)
    PC100 64 MB (PA3004U)

As far as I know that you can upgrade this laptop up. 512 MB memory SDRAM (2x256MB).

    Good bye

  • Re: Satellite A100 and Win7 - screen is not appropriate in all of the screen

    Nice day

I upgraded my Satellite A100-232 yesterday to Windows 7 32 bit. The installation went according to plan and installed everything perfectly. My problem I encounter is that the screen only covers 75% of the screen. The resolution is 800 x 600 and I changed it to 1024 x 768. Does the screen a little bigger, but still no connection in the entire screen.

Can someone please help with this problem?

    Thanks in advance

This model of laptop is supported for Win7?
You have downloaded and installed the right driver?

By the way: what A100 exactly do you have?

  • Satellite A100-768: processor upgrade?

    Hello

    I have a Toshiba Satellite a100-768
is it possible to upgrade the processor?
I would buy a cpu merom and install this one...
or is the processor soldered to the motherboard?

    Kind regards
    brechtvm

    Hello

The answer is no, it is not possible to replace the processor in a Toshiba laptop. The processors used in laptops are connected to the motherboard using a process called TCP (tape carrier package). It is a method of permanent connection and is used in the interest of miniaturization and heat dissipation.

By the way: A100 is one of the latest devices and I don t understand why you want to swap the CPU. Why you didn t buy best camera has better CPU performance?

  • Tecra M3 and memory upgrade

I have a Tecra M3 (PTM30U - 6017 0c) and I upgrade to 2 GB of memory, but one of the slots will not read... only reads 512 stick... I was wondering if there is a fix for this.
The laptop says it can do 2 GB. Do I need to Flash the BIOS or y at - it another way to get it to pick it up?

    Thanks Lauri

    Hello lauri

At first, I must say that you are right about upgrade memory. Your laptop can handle with 2 GB of RAM.
Your description is a bit confusing for me. If you have upgraded to 2 GB, you have probably used 2 x 1 GB RAM.
So, I don't understand what you mean with * only reads 512 MB stick. *

Do you use compatible Rams? Can you test the two slots and confirm that they are not defective?

  • Satellite A100-386 - HDD upgrade question

Hello everyone and happy new year.

First of all, sorry for my bad English.

I bought a Satellite A100-386 a few years and I'm really happy, but my hard drive has failed.
So, I wanted to know if I could put a 2.5 "SATA II disk, like this.

    http://www.materiel.NET/Disque-Dur/Hitachi-Travelstar-5k500-b-s-ATA-II-250-go-8-mo-48900.html

because when I see the characteristics of the satellite, they mention a hard drive with only S - ATA.
    Y at - it compatibility?

    Thank you answer :)

    Bye bye

    Hello

Yes, I think that this should be possible.
The A100 supports hard drives SATA controller, and theoretically, you can use any HARD SATA 2.5 drive.

    Welcome them

  • Satellite A100 and WXP - some drivers are missing

I received a SatPro A100 and I have Windows XP installed and most of the drivers are installed and working but it is four points of question mark in Device Manager.
    Can anyone help.

    Ethernet controller
    Network controller
    Unknown device
    USB device

Can someone tell me what drivers to use and where to find them?

    Hello

Please don't get me wrong, but I really wonder how you want to install correctly on your Satellite Pro A100 WXP.
Last question confuses me completely. I thought that you got all the drivers of Toshiba, support and download page or maybe I misunderstood something.

In any case, your laptop is fully supported for operating system Windows XP Home edition and all necessary drivers, tools and utilities that you can find on http://eu.computers.toshiba-europe.com > support & download
Choose your laptop model and operating system and you will all ready to download stuff.
A tip for you: if I well remember Toshiba also offers document Instructions of facilities with the exact order of installations.
So please download and check this list and install all the stuff in this order.

I assume that you lack driver chipset, LAN driver, driver WLAN and obviously more than that, but I don't know what unknown device is in the list. Can you please send device ID?

  • Re: Satellite A100-803 - CPU Upgrade question

I have a laptop Toshiba Satellite A100-803 at the moment. There is an Intel Core 2 Duo T5200 inside and it is a bit slow. Also, it does not support VT - x extensions.

My idea is to build a simple hobby-server which should run Gentoo with Xen on it. I can buy an Intel Core 2 Duo T7600, but there are two things I'd like to know.

1 the bios does support the Intel Core 2 Duo T7600?
    2. If she supports the Intel Core 2 Duo T7600, is it possible to use VT - x extensions?

    > 1. The bios supports the Intel Core 2 Duo T7600?
It is not known to me, but you should check if the chipset supports the Intel Core 2 Duo T7600. If the chipset does not support this CPU you can not use this CPU in your A100. But if the chipset would support the new CPU then you ve good chances to use this component.

    > 2. If she supports the Intel Core 2 Duo T7600, is it possible to use VT - x extensions?
Hmm, that's a good question; as far as I know the BIOS must support the feature VT - x to use it of course the CPU must support this too so I think that VT - x should be available if the update for Intel Core 2 Duo T7600 would be successful
