Here's an email from BT, I just can't get their mobile broadband services working with my Satellite A100

Hi Mr J Cairns,.

further to our conversation regarding your problem with Broadband BT's Mobile on Windows 7, we have concluded that the fault is caused by its windows 7 autonomous, there seems to be a problem with Dial-up networking on the computer, our software indicates that there is a problem with the "Remote Access Connection Manager service" and try to manually start the Service generates an error about its dependencies.

My only suggestions to solve the problem is to contact your PC vendor for diagnosis or to perfom a factory restore on the computer, the provider of your PC will be able to help with this, we will contact you in a few days to see how you have progressed with the question and if the advice I gave helped resolve the issue.

LOL :) such emails are very usual for service people who don t know what the problem could be it of very simple for someone point to the manufacturer of the computer and computer question s say.

Can I ask you what problem do you have?

I assume you are using a 3rd party Bluetooth modem and are not able to install Win 7 usign?
Am I wrong?

Why this should be a laptop problem?

As mentioned in your message, the question could be between BT and Win 7 modem.
In my opinion the BT modem manufacturer should provide you with assistance.
There may be some problems between BT and Win 7 modem configuration?
Who knows.

Are you able to connect other devices BT the A100? Yes? Well in this case, the battery of BT is installed correctly.
Otherwise I would recommend reinstalling the BT stack and set it up again.

    In Manager devices, Modems, the GXmdm4_Bluetooth modem is disabled but the Toshiba Software is enabled. Don't know where to go from here.

    Are you sure that the Bluetooth module is installed on your laptop computer at 100%?
    I ask because I found some information on this unit in the net and it seems that this laptop has been delivered without Bluetooth.

    All laptops with Bluetooth must have a Bluetooth label at the bottom of the unit.
    Please check whether your device has such tag.

    PS: I think that the software can be installed because the A100 was delivered with a different hardware configuration. But the image was made for all cell phones - with and without the BT module.

  • Satellite A100-998 - O2 broadband router wireless number

    I have the laptop above. It connects fine to the Netgear routers and other but won't connect wirelessly to a router from O2. I am using the WEP key OK but after that the network is acquired nuer automatic DHCP and DNS assignment etc, I have limited or no connectivity message.

    I uninstalled the wireless network card, reinstalled, updated the driver (Intel 3945) and does not different.

    I know the default gateway, the DNS Server data and the subnet and have tried to enter this as fixed information in the area of adequate properties for the wireless card, give my portable IP apropriate to be agreed. I also deleted all the networks without wire already connected. No change.

    It is not a firewall issue as I stopped the firewall still no effective connection.

    I can connect via LAN to the router of the O2 using the same fixed data, by the way.

I never no problem elsewhere, so I think it's a problem of router-side. Toshiba is aware of this problem? If so, is there a solution, apart to change the router, I prefer not to do what he's going to disturb others in the House and cost me money.

    Toshiba or any other manufacturer of the laptop / desktop has nothing to do with the router you use for LAN or WLAN connection. If you are 100% sure that the network card wireless on your Toshiba laptop works properly it is the end of history.

    It is well known that laptop to the manufacturer is responsible for the support of driver on laptop computers. You're not the first person is facing this problem. To be honest, it is not the problem. The fact is that the laptop manufacturers use updated drivers to protect the equipment.

    Because of this I recommend you to use the Toshiba drivers only.

    It is not possible.
    As far as I know, you cannot change this value manually.
    The graphics card controls the HyperMemory and assigns this value automatically.

    If you want to have more RAM (main memory) and then update the modules of memory on your laptop
    2 GB (2 x 1024MB) are recommended.

  • Satellite A100-147: problem of Bluetooth with BT dongle for mobile devices

    Hi guys, take it easy because this is my 1st post.

    I see there are some problems with BT and yes I am here with problems too!
    I recently had to reinstall XP PRO due to a virus, I ve installed all my drivers and even tried the recommended download links but nothing.
    When I load a BT2stack (tried different install x 64 etc.) installation driver, it came with small BT symbol in the taskbar, but when I clicked to toggle the box was just 'grey' and cannot be enabled.

    I noticed the code BW on the underside of my lappy is slightly different, but the a, just do not know if it s compatible with its location in the code.

    Code ends with 15WBT/DS2/LM/W... This seems ok or am I Bluetooth less!

    Whatever it is, the strange thing is I ve it works ok in the past by a BT toggle was having taken in the usb port, no probs in the past using this with my cell phone, but on the purchase of a new (old we had stood on) one mini disc 'pilot', it came with comes up with "E:\ is not accessible" and my disc drive is ok! weird but my 1st rocking didn't come with a disk and the other the box "found the new device" came it was straight forward.

    Axious even now I need this facility to work.

    Please, if anyone has a simple step-by-step tutorial for me to follow then that would be great. I m obviously missing something, but all leads come to a dying.

    So you can not activate because there is NO BT!

    Later, while trying to set the resolution of the screen, I realized that I could only choose between 1024 x 768 or 800 x 600, but I don't know that before the operation I could put also the resolution of 1280 x 800 (maximum display resolution). In fact, the display resolution was much better than now.

    Once more here to add some details: I tried to install the ATI mob. rad + Nvidia drivers, which can be downloaded from this site for Satellite A100-683 + windows 7 display.
    The second (Nvidia) seems to be the right one, as stated in the description (improves the features of the screen and allows different settings, etc.), but it doesn't seem to work.

    And what about CPU? The laptop comes with an Intel Mobile Core 2 Duo T5500 1.66 GHz on Intel i945PM chipset.

    I think that you should also check your RAM upgrades for user manuals. As far as I know that you can upgrade your laptop with 4 GB of RAM. Therefore, you can use DDR2-533 modules. You buy from an authorized service provider or Kingston modules also recommendable.

    Upgrading the CPU is not supported. BIOS and motherboard are tested only with the preinstalled CPU.

    I downloaded the official Toshiba mobility driver for Windows Vista 32-bit (I had a Satellite A100 (PSAA9) for construction in mobility x 1400.

    Once I run the Setup, it will install the ccc, but the real driver, no matter what I do! If I try to install the driver manually, Windows says

    "Unable to read from the device (ATI Mobility X 1400).

    As an error during the installation. It will not work in safe mode, either.

    The Toshiba driver page provides 2 different graphics drivers for A100 PSAA9E series; nVidia and ATI.

I have 4 GB of RAM, but it is really slow at the opening of some app (CS4, video editing, internet, office...) and I tried to install win 64 bit for faster work experience. First that I can't know which chipset I am running. In Device Manager it says this:

    Mobile Intel (r) 955XM/945GM/PM/GMS/940MGL express processor to dram - 270a controller. This chipset supports 64 bit OS?

    BIOS is later and also the Core Duo T2400 1.8 Ghz CPU and I guess CPU can also handle the 64 bit OS.

    I have a laptop Satellite A100-570. I bought this in July antiques.

    Just open the laptop, not even connect to the internet it manages reduce my speed on broadband.

    Recently, my laptop 2 GB memory @ 533 mhz were bad and I decided at this level to 4 GB and carried 2 x 2 GB @ 633 mhz.
    Though according to the instructions in the manual, it supports 4 GB maximum, but my bios shows/3 gb.

    My Windows 7 64 bit, shows 4 gb, but with 3 GB usable.
