  Hi all

  I have a Satellite A100-225 with a 100 GB SATA Hitachi drive I int it that recently started showing bad sectors. Then I bought a Hitachi 320 GB SATA II drive to replace it. I tried the drive and it was recognized right away, so I didn't need to change the SATA speed. I ran the restore a disk installed newest. The problem I have is that the computer keeps freezing and crashing with the new drive. It takes a lot of time to load up when turned on and there is a noticeable to untermittant delay when you drag the cards around solo.

  I tried to run the Hitachi drive test and it comes back fine. I also tried to turn the SATA speed of the drive down from 300 to 150 via the firmware, and although I saw a slight improvement, it is still not right.

  I talked to Hitachi and they say that he could not be 100% compatible, so the problems. Someone at - it else sucessfully set up a replacement for this notebook drive and if so what make and model. Has anyone else had simular problems?

  Years ago, I've updated yet more former Satellite M70 with SATA HDD (270 GB if I m remembering well) and everything was fine.
  In my view upgrade with SATA HDD normal shouldn't be a problem. Do not SATA II because it will not work faster.

  I can't say for sure, but there must be a compatibility problem.

  Let's see if someone else had better luck with the upgrade of the disk on the Satellite A100.

  Have you checked this forum with advanced search option? Maybe you can find some old NET on upgrade the HDD on A100.

  Hi, I have a problem with the compatibility between the internal (1 terabyte) hard drive and installing windows 7 pro.
  I broke my old internal hard drive (320 GB) and I bought the new hd (1 tb), but during the installation it says that w7 cannot be installed on this new hard drive.

  Can my pc motherboard (serial number: 3B071014k) support the new hard drive (serial number: wd10jpvx)?

  First of all the question has nothing to do with the motherboard and HARD drive compatibility.
  If the HARD drive is visible in the BIOS (first page), the HARD drive is supported by the BIOS and HARD disk controller.
  In the case where the drive HARD isn't recognized, you will need to replace this HARD drive with another. I guess the smaller size of the 2.5 SATA HDD THAT would be taken in charge (500 GB)

  However, in case the HARD disk is visible in the BIOS, you should be able to install Windows 7.
  Before starting the installation, you must format the HARD drive and should create the system partition.
  For this procedure, I recommend to use some tools such as partitions for example: GParted
  GParted is a freeware Linux tool.
  You can create a bootable USB key in order to start the device using GParted:
  http://gparted.sourceforge.NET/LiveCD.php

  Then, you should be able to format the HARD disk and create partitions.

  Unfortunately it's probably :-(. You can try to remove the optical drive and then reinsert it into Notepad, and then marketing and see if it is recognized as a new device.

  Check also that it is not displayed in Device Manager and if it is remove before trying the above.

  This laptop is only 80 GB, but each drive C and E, has 40 GB on each partition.
  C drive is full and I get messages saying that. So, how do I enter now drive E? It seems stupid to sell a laptop 80 GB when only 40 seems to be available. I hope someone knows and it of easy as I m COMP not literate in what does this kind of things.

  Please don't be crazy about me, but your ad is quite confusing. If the HARD disk has two partitions of two of them should be visible in Windows Explorer when you click on 'My computer' on the left side.

  Can you please tell us what you see in Windows Explorer? HARD disk with two partitions generally followed order of partitions:
  -first partition is indicated as C
  -second partition appears as D
  -the CD/DVD drive appears in the form E

  If you do not see the second partition, it must be activated first. You can do this in "Computer management" in the "Disk management" option Please describe the exact situation in Windows Explorer and that we can help you to optimize the HARD drive and use the entire capacity.

  I didn t find Win 7 driver for this device, but I recommend you to install the Vista driver because many Vista drivers can be installed on the Windows 7 operating system.

  Go page European driver Toshiba and choose your model of laptop and Vista.
  Then, you should find the Flash Media Driver for Texas Instruments.
  This is the driver for your bridge Media Slot. This slot allows you to insert an SD card, Memory Stick (Pro) or xD picture cards.

  I have problems with the CD/DVD-RW drive on my Satellite A100-1VG. In fact, from time to time he disappears. It will not work to CDs or DVDs and it does not appear on my computer.   Satellite A100-02 b is a part of the PSAARE series.
  I checked the page of the Toshiba driver and found only the audio Realtek XP driver.

  So what to do? In my view only the audio driver was published because other XP drivers are and use another A100 series.

  So I recommend you to check the other Satellite A100 Equium A100 series and try to install only XP drivers.

  If you can t find a Windows 7 driver, you can use the Vista driver. Most Vista drivers work also on Windows 7.

  I downloaded the official Toshiba mobility driver for Windows Vista 32-bit (I had a Satellite A100 (PSAA9) for construction in mobility x 1400.

  Once I run the Setup, it will install the ccc, but the real driver, no matter what I do! If I try to install the driver manually, Windows says

  "Unable to read from the device (ATI Mobility X 1400).

  As an error during the installation. It will not work in safe mode, either.

  I'm having a problem with audio driver. I can't seem to find one that works anywhere, I looked at several forums and the Toshiba site for drivers without success. I basically hit a wall, so I hope someone can provide a working solution. :)

  On the European driver Toshiba page, you will find the Realtek Lan driver and driver Intel Lan.
  If Realtek doesn t work, then you need the Intel Lan driver.
