Satellite A100 - does not read CD

Hello!

My drive doesn't read any CD or does not install any software, but it reads a DVD when played. For the normal software or CD CD he says - 'Insert the CD' and even if reinserted it does not read.

I tried the support Microsoft-difficulty your CD and DVD player can't read, but it has not fixed the problem.

Can anyone help?

Hey Buddy,

What Microsoft support fix tried exactly?
Do you mean that? http://support.Microsoft.com/kb/314060

You can also try to remove the drive from Device Manager and then restart the laptop. After that the drive will be recognized automatically.

Also try to clean the lens of the CD/DVD drive. Therefore, you can use a microfibre cloth.

    Hello

My Satellite A100 can't stand my sandisk 4 GB SDHC.
'normal' SD cards are not a problem with the internal card reader, and there is no problem with the 4 GB sandisk SDHC card using an external card reader.

    is there a software solution?

    regrads,
    Itock

I don't have the time to read the manuals for your model of laptop users, but can be registered to all supported cards. I guess SDHC not registered and not supported.

I don't know what you mean with the software solution, but as far as I know, update for multimedia card reader is not available.

  • Satellite A100 does not recognize the new CD/DVD drive

I bought a new CD/DVD drive for my A-100 of Toshiba Satellite age of four year old went crazy and wouldn't work.

Unfortunately, I bought a DVD of Toshiba Portege A100 / reader Combo CD - RW that is not exactly what I had before the jump that it will still work.

Unfortunately, I'm surprised because it does not recognize the CD/DVD drive at all: /...
It seems to work, and the light blinks I think that it is not broken.

I just plugged it because that's the way I was told to do.
I need to download the drivers to operate?
It will work on my laptop, or is it a "most recent" CD player that will not work with my laptop?

    I'd appreciate any help. THX

The BIOS does not recognize this new CURIOUS because the player seems not to be fully compatible.
I think there bad master/slave/c-salt settings

As you know these settings can be changed on the external CD/DVD drive for desktop switching jumper. But it is not possible for computers portable CD/DVD players.

You can solve it only purchase a new compatible disc.

Usually the ASP in your country could help you buy this disc of these guys here
However, you can consult the user manual if there are a few details on the compatible sides.
My user manual provides this information.

    Hello

The Satellite C650 card reader supports SD card, SDHC, MultiMediaCard card and mini SD card in the SD adapter.

    microSD card are not supported.

  • Satellite A100: Does not start a recovery DVDs

    Hi guys.
    First timer here.
I have read some of the Q & A on reboot problems the A100 since the recovery DVDs.
It seems I have the same problems as keith.

I want to start all over again the OS and my laptop does not start from the DVD.
Tried the standard f12 boot from cd option. tried her "hold C on the boot option.
Both options end with no joy.

The screen that says "loading ramdisk image", loads the machine breaks, asks me to wait, then every time the same thing.
The screen goes black, flashes very quickly and white and then loads from the hard disk as normal.

Now try to hold my frustration and do something radical.
I know that in the Q & A previous, the subject is considered as replied...
    other options?

My following thoughts are to delete/uninstall almost every thing and try and force the thing to boot from the DVD.
have also copied the dvd and tried to boot from the copy, always with no joy.

    Are there any other suggestions?

Is it possible to put a partition in the existing drive and start the recovery dvd in there, then delete the junk of the original section of the drive, and then delete the partition?

is it possible to close all essential processes and format the HARD drive?

is it possible to reset the HARD drive somehow?

    see you soon,
    Martin

    Hello Martin

To be honest, it's pretty strange question. There is one thing I am interesting for:
Is - this first time, you try to use a recovery media for the installation of the OS?

If possible, try to get the Microsoft CD/DVD facilities to see if the same thing will happen.

In any case, I will try to give you answers to your questions.
    > Is it possible to put a partition in the existing drive and to start the recovery dvd in there, then delete the junk of the original section of the drive, and then delete the partition?
It will not work. On the recovery of the media it is recovery image and this image must be installed correctly. You cannot "recover DVD in there. Not question

    > is it possible to close all essential processes and format the HARD drive?
I would like to know what you understand under the 'essential processes?

    > Is it possible to reset the HARD drive somehow?
You can't do this somehow. If you want to 'reset' HARD drive, you must delete the existing partition or delete any OS installation. After having done that, you need to install new OS. All this will be done at the beginning of the recovery procedure.

I really don't understand what's wrong there. Please answer to my first question, and we will continue this discussion. ;)

  • Satellite A100 does not start - no action

    Hello

I have a Toshiba Satellite A100, which does nothing. He went flat when he was asleep, and a few minutes later I plugged it and when I press the power button / nothing happens. I do not show that the battery recharges in illuminating the charging light. The power button does not illuminate.

If I hold the power button for a long period of time, a few lights.
The caps lock light. Light under F10 and F11 and wireless internet light keeps coming back even if it is disabled.
Battery light comes on a few times, but it is wider than on.

My thoughts are that power don't is not computer (I think than lights that come on are those who come usually on after you press the power button) I'll try and the hand to get on another charger to try but snacks that don't work there at - it suggestions?

    DESPERATE isn't my computer!

Hmm can be a motherboard problem.

Try reinstalling the memory and battery and see how it goes. If not, send it to an ASP for a quote.

  • Satellite A100 does not supply power to the top

I have a client who has the Satellite A100 (PSAA2C-LE100E) and its not turn on the power. He bought a new AC adapter and tried the battery in and out and still not solve.

Should there be a light at the front of the laptop when it is plugged in and turned off?

Is it hard by exchanging the DC IN 19V on the phone jack?

    Thanks :)

Is this a Toshiba adapter? If the tension or the polarity is wrong, it can damage the motherboard.

DC IN (power cable icon) light should illuminate when the AC adapter is plugged in, if the adapter does not work. You can use a multimeter to check the volts and amps of the adapter.

If not, then a new Mainboard.

  • Satellite A100 does not display an image at boot

    Hey all.

I'm having a problem with my laptop (A100), which is a little perculiar. I keep my PC the other day to restart. But when it restarts, it does not display an image. I saw any activity usual boot sequence, as HD-activity and other. But no picture.

I tried to remove the believer battery which would solve the problem... but it didn't, and I simply dropped.

The next day I started the machine, and it returned to the top and ran exactly as usual. So today I rebooted the machine, and he did the same thing. No image... but the normal boot sequence. I noticed that the battery - led is lit constantly, which is NOT normal. And when I remove the AC power the machine dies simply indicating that the battery is completely dead. But what is odd, behold, the machine will actually start (although without a picture) when I remove the battery and just plug in the AC power.

Of course, I tried the usual things, want to do a test of the fool to make sure that the power is really and I've been busy pressing FN + screen-switch-button, but nothing seems to help.

Now my question really comes in two parts:

    1. what may be the cause of this problem? I guess the battery is dead - and past 1.5 years is probably what I read. But why it works when I remove the battery and just use the normal power cable? Clues as to what I can do here?

    2. How can I retrieve my data from my hard drive? The data are quite valuable, and even though I have backups of it, I always lose hourse valuable work if I'm not activate somehow of the transfer to another machine. I have a Dell laptop, but I don't know there that a hard drive from a Toshiba will go in a Dell. Maybe you can me if they work together?

Look forward to hearing from you and thanks in advance for your help!

Looks like there is a bad connection between the video card and display, or the VGA or LCD card have an intermittent fault.

To back up your data, you can attach the HARD drive to another PC using a USB SATA 2.5 "HDD adapter.

  • Satellite A100 does not power up - LED orange flashing but nothing else

My Satellite A100 laptop fell on the couch and now wont power up,

I get a flashing orange LED but nothing else.
This only happens with the AC adapter is plugged and not with the battery.

What can I do to solve this problem and what should I watch?

    Hello

Try to remove the battery and unplug the AC adapter.
Wait a while (> 2 hours) and then reconnect the two parts.
If the laptop still not, will fuel even using a good power adapter and the battery in good condition, the problem could be related to the problem RAM or the motherboard.

You should also try to delete one (or two modules if you have some spare parts) module of RAM and should try to turn on the laptop.

    Good luck

He stopped to work. I mean, he's not reading CD but not DVD discs.

I went on the internet and found no solution.

    Please help me.
It is not a software problem, because my laptop does not start the DVD, but due to the CD...

    Hello

The issue could be linked to the anomaly of the player's laser lens.
Maybe the lens can not handle the DVD because of a physical constraint.
In most cases, the lens can not calibrate properly and therefore different media would not work.
In this case there is not much to do in most of the cases that the drive needs to be replaced.

But maybe you could try to clean the drive s laser lens using a cleaning professional who could be bought from the other computer dealers.
I don't very well if this will help but it s worth to try m

    PS: Try this:

  • Satellite A100 does not recognize Epson printer sx125

    Hello

    Hoping someone can enlighten us.

You install a new printer Epson sx125 but having sentencing... My computer laptop (Satellite A100) won't recognize when I insert USB.
I've updated the drivers etc, but nothing... I tried the printer on the computer upstairs and he recognized no problem.

    Any ideas?
    Thank you

    Julie

I guess this new printer is designed to run on Vista or Win7, so it will be interesting to know what operating system is installed on your Satellite A100 and you have good drivers (if necessary) you got with your printer.

  • Satellite A500 does not read DVD

Not sure about the specific problem of original posters but I cant get DVD's to play on my A500 either. I only had the unit for a few weeks, but don't think I've tried far movies (movies on my USB stick work fine, just can't get the DVD player to work). I had no problem initial installation Norton / MSoffice and others so I guess that the hardware is working fine just do not speak for the rest of the computer regarding Watch DVD
    The hard drive does not appear when I 'explorer' the computer so I can not yet use Media Player to find the disc and see the movie like this. If I try to use the toshiba dvd player, I get the following message;

"The specified drive is not found. Check the settings by going in "parameters - parameters-source of the Action, or otherwise make sure that disk has been correctly connected to the PC.

When I explore drivers, the computer says that I have the good. Ideas for a jerk of techie nearly to repair it? My EX so used to do all those things... I would rather not go crawling back to him for help! Laughing out loud

    Hello

If I understand your question correctly; the CD/DVD drive does not appear in windows Explorer. Is this right?

    Check this box:
Go to Device Manager and remove the CD/DVD drive on listThen device register access and delete the Upperfilters and Lowerfilters completely from the following registry key values:

    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Contro l\Class\ {4D36E965-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318}

. Restart the device and retest the drive

  • Built at the microphone of the Satellite A100 does not work

According to the specifications of this laptop is supposed to have a built-in microphone.
Impossible to get this working, tried test through Control Panel of configuration/sounds but nothing does.

The voice said test not detected. All ideas, where is the mic, or should get just the external microphone
    Thank you
    Carlos

    Hello

I agree with the JohnnyS. As far as I know that others of the A100 don t supported an internal microphone.
If you want to use the microphone, you will need to connect an external to the mic socket.

  • Satellite A100 does not recognize the adapter

    Hey guys,.

I looked around this forum and others have not found something that's quite like that. Basically, laptop of my wife (toshiba a100) was working fine and then one day it stops suddenly while recognizing that the power adapter is plugged. The ac adapter light ignition stopped and it will stop charging the battery.

I did not notice that he was not in charge until it was basically empty, so now that the battery is dead and the laptop cannot say certainly not that the power adapter is plugged. I thought the itsellf adapter screwed up, but I tested it with a voltmeter, and it seems to work very well.

Basically, I just want to know if you have tips or tricks to make it work. I guess I'll have to take in for repair, but I wonder what is the real problem, and if it will involve the replacement of the motherboard or something like that?

Thanks for any advice or info, you can give!

    -Matt

What happens if you remove the battery and try to power the laptop connected ONLY to adapter? Is this possible?

    Otherwise there are two possibilities;
The power adapter is faulty or there is something wrong on the motherboard
In both cases, the defective parts must be replaced

I think in this case that only a technician of the laptop might know what's exactly wrong with your machine
