  (1) you can install the new Vista easily. When installing new Vista installation program should create a new WinRE partition too. If don t be worried. But I recommend creating a backup of your important files such as mp3, photos, etc...

  (2) you can do the installation should be possible and should go smoothly. But don t forget to include the SATA drivers that are necessary to recognize the HARD drive. On the Toshiba page, you might find the Intel Storage Manager that contains the SATA driver. Include the driver during the installation procedure using the F6 key.

  (3) Yes, Vista drivers should appear on the page of the European driver Toshiba.

  (5) the product recovery DVD will format the whole HARD drive. It will delete the partitions and all will remove the HARD drive. And it will also create the new WinRE partition. Simply said; the Toshiba Vista recovery DVDs will fix the laptop back to factory settings

  I installed the MS MSKLC 1.4 tool. on Toshiba Satellite L300 and Vista32. This tool is to generate a clean keyboard layout.

  I wanted to implement Gujarati signs for a friend. To do this, we put signs and letters on three 'levels' in this keyboard layout:

  2. pass the speeds as "A B"
  3 Altgr + key

  The first two levels with letters not run very well, but the last of them.

  We have tested in Open Office 3.1 and MS Works Word. The two programs do not accept Altgr + key letter.

  To be honest I never tried to MSKLC1.4 keyboard layout creator but I n t think that it s a question of Toshiba.
  I think that it s related to the UK keyboard layout because he of working with available German (as you suggested).

  My personal suggestion could change the layout of the UK keyboard for the German language in Control Panel-> regional options & language control

  It is anyway they would update the program or y at - it a way to specifically tell the application to use the numeric keypad as how Microsoft Office uses special characters to search & replace "Enter/Return".

  Follow these steps and check if that helps.

  (a) click Start and type area and the language in the search bar and press to enter.

  (b) go to keyboards and languages tab.

  (c) click on change keyboards.

  (d) now, click Add.

  (e) now under any input language, you have chosen who find and choose keyboard.

  (f) ensure that all options are listed.

  (g) if there is a check mark in the United States remove it and place a check next to the language and click Ok.

  (h) now you can check cross if the preview shows you the correct layout.

  If you want to test the Vista on your laptop, I recommend you to create a second partition and install Vista on this partition.
  In this case, you will be able to use the XP and Vista together.

  The Vista delete shouldn't t be problem you might just format the Vista partition to remove HARD drive

  In fact, vista is not 100% bug free and I would wait until Microsoft will publish the first SP for Vista

  Go to the website of toshiba driver

  and download all THE drivers, including the update of the bios and put it on CD or USB key.

  Before installing XP, do a biosupdate and so feel free to install Windows XP. Be careful AND READ THE installation INSTRUCTIONS that can be downloaded on the site driver before installing the drivers. IT IS REALLY IMPORTANT.

  Otherwise, have fun with XP on your machine, it s absolutely fast on an A100. :)

  Hey Buddy,

  the machine is vista ready, then it shouldn´t be a problem to install vista on it. With regard to the ultimate edition: I do not know how the performance will be because things like aero or some other 'system tools' slow the machine down really low. It might be better to stay in XP until they release the first servicepack for Vista (no matter what edition, global it s for all versions ;)).

  So if you want to REALLY do, so I give you here a link (http://pc-support.toshiba-europe.com/vista/) where you can search for drivers for your machine, and you should do something like downloading all the drivers, burn them on CD or put on a USB key, back up all your data and then install vista after you have formatted the hard drive.

  I installed Vista Beta 2 and you have downloaded the latest driver ATI Vista Beta 2 with the support of X 1600. But with the ATI X 1600 on the A100-188 the driver won't work. The pilot did not find my X 1600. What can I do?

  Thanks for the comments. But please note that this OS is not official on the market and Toshiba recommend to use only the graphics drivers from Toshiba.
  You can use the other drivers but only at your own risk.

• Satellite A100-095: problem of graphics - Vista OS but says driver is not

  I have a toshiba A100-095 with nvidia geforce go7300. I use my pc for developing .net applications, today after a few hours, I put the laptop in standbymode, when I reboot the system, vista windows told me that video drivers caused problems and had returned to the original version. I don't really know what happened, so I went to the toshiba site, download the latest driver for my laptop, but when I try to install I get an error saying

  "Your system is not windows vista, this version of the driver is made to work only with Grand vista, etc etc etc."

  I try for a copula of time, the same error, I restart the system and now install the driver very well, but my system is unstable, sometimes after only a few hours of work when I right click on the folder, I do not copy / paste option and shortly after the explorer.exe chrashes. I ve operationg Italian system because I bought my laptop in Italy.

  Any idea on what is happening?

  You are right. It is really strange and I m also not 100% sure what might happen.
  I think there might be something wrong with the system files or registry entries
  I put t know how difficult is to reinstall the operating system on your laptop (because of the backup) but he of really, really interesting if the same thing would happen after the clean install of Vista
