  I constantly have sound with my Satellite A100 (PSAA8) computer laptop problems. While I hear the windows starting noise and beeps (most of the time), I hear no sound of things like Media Player, CD, DVD and iTunes.   I have the standard pre-installed Realtek sound thing on my laptop that could be the problem, well in control panels, sounds, he says it works well. Also in Control Panel, sounds, most of the things are greyed out, so that I can t adjust the volume levels or even play sound noises.

  I'm having some trouble with my GF Satellite A100 (PSAA8A). When installing a new HARD drive with a clean install of XP, I flashed by chance, one of the BIOS when installing drivers. Its kind of bricks now.

  But there is no 3 folder. There is only a single called S10VWF that contains Winphlash etc. (see photo url). As far as I know, I can only run Winphlash Windows environment due to its GUI. Then what should I do? Help!

  There is a little thing that you have forgotten or supervised.

  The BIOS you downloaded is a version of BIOS to WIN. It s not traditional BIOS update!

  The description published in your ad describes the update using the traditional BIOS.
  But the Toshiba driver page only provides updates of BIOS based VICTORY. The BIOS can be upgraded only from Windows operating system running.

  Please don't mix these two possibilities of updates!

  I thought it was a software problem, so I formatted the hard drive, then I tried the Toshiba recovery disc.

  But it did not work I get some errors with symbol of missing files (or something like that) then in the window appears: 0:000 and all that I type it does not work. Then I got the Windows XP Pro. CD, but when I get to the chapter when I fill out my serial number, I still can't type any number and only uppercase letters with the caps to the large lock.

  Please check if the keyboard is recognized correctly in the Device Manager. Also, be sure that the language settings are right. So many reasons for possible software for not functional keyboard.

  To be honest I really don't believe it. Try to connect USB FDD and you will see that the FDD is recognized and you will be able to use it as first boot device.

  Download page for Toshiba from your laptop is supported for Vista 32 bit. There you can find all the drivers, tools and utilities designed for Vista.

• Satellite A100-495: strange starting problems & freezes

  I recently got my Satellite A100-495 back from repair - it had a power problem (no led was flashing and it does not start of course). They told me that the motherboard has been renewed.

  Now, I have the following two issues:

  (1) it freezes suddenly sometimes in windows after 1-2 hours of operation without problems and I have to hold the power button for a few seconds restart

  (2) I press the power on button, LEDS are underway but the screen remains black, sometimes becomes gray, hard drive makes noise, fans going on but it just does not start, do not show anything. After some tests, I have to start but once again crashes after a couple hours of functioning properly.

  Can someone tell me what is the problem here?

  Hi there guys!
  I bought this laptop A100-011 Satellite with MS Vista included. Anyway... I decided to remove the vista (reason of incompatibility with some software) and I installed XP. And that is the problem... I don't know if it's regarding the OS, but when I run a game (Commandos 3 for example) or leave the laptop to work for more than 1 day - overheating. In the 1st case that Ms. famous blue screen appears with some technical data and the laptop restarts itself and in the 2nd case (when I leave work for laptop) even the keyboard gets hot enough.
  And my question is - is there a way to decrease this overheating? And is it a hardware problem or software?

  Man, your time are absolutely OK. I would like to have these times well (and low) on my Satellite A200 :)
