Satellite A100 (PSAA8A) - replacement AC/DC adapter

I need some info on the adapter for my laptop for girls. She has a Satellite A100 model No. PSAA8A-1COO3Q 15v 5amps and and she has lost the power adapter. I need to know plug size (in the laptop), so I can order a new power adapter (not true). Any help would be appreciated.

Fine.

PS. If anyone has an adapter used that they want to sell, I'd be happy to buy too!

Salvation Will Grant,

Why you want to buy an AC/DC adapter not authentic? Friend bought also an of making another AC adapter and the laptop couldn't t start with this adapter. I put t know why with an original adapter everything has worked correctly.

You need to contact a service provider authorized in your country. Guys can order a new adapter. I believe that these adapters are not that expensive so just ask for it:

  • Re: How to run the update to the BIOS of the DOS - Satellite A100 PSAA8A command prompt?

I'm having some trouble with my GF Satellite A100 (PSAA8A). When installing a new HARD drive with a clean install of XP, I flashed by chance, one of the BIOS when installing drivers. Its kind of bricks now.

Using a floppy disk CD boot, combined with the update of the V6.00 BIOS, I goes to a DOS command prompt, but not sure where to go now.

Under * Tradional BIOS update *.
    See the link: [http://eu.computers.toshiba-europe.com/cgi-bin/ToshibaCSG/faq.jsp?z=234&service=EU&from=faq_selection&CFID=B IOS & FID = TRO0000000b07]

    It is said:
+ 1. Extract the zip file containing the BIOS upgrade to a temporary folder. +
+ 2. Three subfolders will be generated in the temporary folder. "docs", "update - 3.5' disc', 'Update - CD - R or CD - RW +.
+ 3. Insert a 1.44 MB diskette formatted in the floppy disk drive. +
+ 4. Run the *.exe file in the folder "" Update - 3.5 disk ". Follow the instructions on the screen. A BIOS update diskette will be generated. +

But there is no 3 folder. There is only a single called S10VWF that contains Winphlash etc. (see photo url). As far as I know, I can only run Winphlash Windows environment due to its GUI. Then what should I do? Help!

    Hi Brett

There is a little thing that you have forgotten or supervised.

The BIOS you downloaded is a version of BIOS to WIN. It s not traditional BIOS update!

The description published in your ad describes the update using the traditional BIOS.
But the Toshiba driver page only provides updates of BIOS based VICTORY. The BIOS can be upgraded only from Windows operating system running.

Please don't mix these two possibilities of updates!

  • Satellite A100 PSAA8: I can type uppercase when caps lock is disabled

    Hello

(First: I am not good in English because I'm from Holland.)

I own a Satellite A100 PSAA8, it used to work very well :)
But in recent weeks, I have a weird keyboard problem.
I can type only uppercase when caps lock is off and I can't type all numbers at all, and a full stop is a: > and a comma is:
I thought it was a software problem, so I formatted the hard drive, then I tried the Toshiba recovery disc.

But it did not work I get some errors with symbol of missing files (or something like that) then in the window appears: 0:000 and all that I type it does not work. Then I got the Windows XP Pro. CD, but when I get to the chapter when I fill out my serial number, I still can't type any number and only uppercase letters with the caps to the large lock.

Then I (tried) to install Windows 2000 and still I can't type any number, etc. (but the drive is empty: S) then I insert a live CD of Ubuntu and Ubuntu keys work perfect (?). I just isn't getting it. Help, please!

    Hello Ikke

Believe me it is not easy to say with certainty what can be the problem?
Please check if the keyboard is recognized correctly in the Device Manager. Also, be sure that the language settings are right. So many reasons for possible software for not functional keyboard.

It is also possible that there is hardware problem. Maybe is the faulty keyboard cable or controller on the keyboard. It is also possible that the keyboard itself is defective.

In my opinion you should contact the service authorized in your country. They can test with brand new keyboard and see if the keyboard is defective.

  • Satellite A100 (PSAA8): need driver for video controller

    Hello

I bought a new Satellite A100 (PSAA8) and re-installed Windows XP Pro. I downloaded some drivers including Intel Display Driver and Flash Media Driver, etc. from the web and installed. But I can't find the driver for video controller, so I still have the questionmark beside the video controller in Device Manager. Do you know what kind of driver he is? Where I can download for the video controller & what driver?

    Thank you
    Rona

    Hello

HE = display driver or graphic driver video driver. All of this means the same thing.
The suggested site, you will find the driver. Please remember to use the correct driver, because there are different units A100.

  • Satellite A100 PSAA8: How to order the Toshiba XP-> Vista upgrade CD

    Hello

    I just bought a Satellite A100 (psaa8)
I found that a document indicates that I can move on to Vista and a link but it does not work.

So can you please help me with this, I got bored of XP.

I read that some members ordered a free vista CD.
Can you tell me how to order and it is good or bad?

    Hello

Remember that this offer is limited by the date! I think you're too late dude!
But why you're bored? The XP is the OS really friendly and fully compatible with all 3rd party devices!
Vista needs a lot more use as XP and runs slower than XP. If you want to play games on your laptop, I would recommend staying with XP! All games run faster under OS XP!

You know the Vista Customization Pack? This allows you to use XP but it looks like a Vista.
You know, the whole images, icons, etc. will transform the look of Vista.

It s nice and for people who wants to change the old XP style new style Vista ;)

  • Satellite A100 (PSAA8) - Cannot play most of the games

    Hello

my laptop Satellite A100 (PSAA8) cannot run most games like call of duty... I wonder if I can get a more powerful vga card and install it. Is this possible? And what I can get to the Middle East (Egypt).

Other improvements I need to increase its performance?

    Hello

Unfortunately the video card cannot be improved. Only you can do is upgrade RAM, optimize the preinstalled operating system and play games that need power of video not so much.

Also try to play games with video settings below. Sorry, but that's all I can say about it.

  • Satellite A100 PSAA8E: Cannot boot from USB after Bios Update

    Hello

I downloaded the latest bios (v6) for my satellite a100 (psaa8e) and after the update of the old bios, I noticed that I can not boot from USB. Is there a way to restore the old bios or will this problem solved?

    See you soon
    MB

And before you can update the BIOS you were able to start the bootable CD from the external optical drive USB drive facilities?

To be honest I really don't believe it. Try to connect USB FDD and you will see that the FDD is recognized and you will be able to use it as first boot device.

    * and what about x 86 and x 64!

    _Thank you in advance. _

Download page for Toshiba from your laptop is supported for Vista 32 bit. There you can find all the drivers, tools and utilities designed for Vista.
There are also the Instructions facilities document. Use it to order good facilities.

So what you need to do is to get the facilities of Microsoft Vista DVD.

  • Satellite A100-773 - replacement for Matsu * a UJ841S

    Hello!

I really like my Satellite A100-773, but I hated his DVD player from the beginning. There are some 100,000 messages in the Forums, where people list problems, Matsu * malware brings. I want to replace mine, it reads the CD occasionally and still more rarely Burns DVD or CD.

Because I don't want Toshiba to replace this piece of malware by other Matsu * with the same UN-compatibility regarding the media which will give up after a few months, I would buy a unit of DVD-nurning on mine. Someone at - it ideas, what models of which manufacturer will be adapted my Satellite? I already found the srew unlock Matsu *, and I just need to know, what model to buy, and what I should consider regarding the "horsemen", which seem to be somehow almost.

    Thx for every answer

  • Satellite A100-784: Replacement of RAM 533 =>> 677 MHZ

    Hello

    IM wondering if I can replace my old ram (2 x 512 533 MHZ) a 2 x 1024 but with 677 frequency?
And here is my question. 677 MHZ is supported on my SATELLITE A100 784 or not?

    -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
    Best regards
    marin_s

    Hello

Please use the search function because this topic has already been discussed.

What CPU do you have? If your processor supports a FSB up to 667 Mhz and the RAM should be able to do the same. So if you install RAM with a 667 Mhz front bus and you have a processor that can handle this then you will get some benefits of upgrading memory 667 MHz.

I recommend you to download * "CPU - Z" * and check your FSB. Then install the new memory and check again. If the FSB RAM then triggers your CPU supports the new FSB.

A good choice for the RAM would be Kingston... ;)

    Welcome them

  • Satellite A100-847 - replacing a WLan card

    Hello

I have Toshiba Satellite A100-847. I would change as WIFI card for new with "n" standard.
I found some tutorials how to proceed, but it was for Toshiba A105, very similar to my only.

I opened the bottom cover where is memory and modem, but I couldn't see all the PCI ports.
    Is it possible to do?
Does work through mini-PCI or is integrated on the motherboard?

    Hello

The A100 PSAA9E supports a minPCI WLan card that supports the IEEE 802 standard. 11a / g WLan standards.
I m not 100% sure if it would be possible to upgrade the WiFi network with a WLan card 802.11 minPCI n because the two antenna cables.
You should first clarify if the antenna is compatible with the 802.11 standard new * WLan N standard *.

The minPCI wireless network card must be hidden under the keyboard. So you'd have to remove the keyboard first to get access to the wireless network card.
The wireless network card is also connected to two antenna cables. The cables must be removed carefully using a pair of tweezers. Then spread plugs securing the wireless LAN card until the card appears.

Usually it of not difficult to replace this WLan card but if you have no experience I wouldn t recommend doing this.
This replacement must be done by a qualified technician!
In addition you guarantee the validity could be cancelled after these updates.

  • Cannot install virtual surround on my Satellite A100 (PSAA8)

I tried to install the update virtual sound vista on the download site, but when I try to install it, it gives me a massage that my computer does not support the virtual sound. Even I checked the site and it is in the supported list.

    That s strange!
I also checked the European driver from Toshiba site and the A100 (PSAA8) unit is listed as a support.
I think you should be able to install this virtual sound utility

How did you install Vista drivers? Have you followed the recommendation of the installation instruction document?

The proper installation order is important and necessary. If you will install the drivers and tools in the wrong order, another application could not work.

My Toshiba A100 (PSAA8E) initially provided with Windows XP

However, I am still a yellow question mark on my sound and SM Bus controller still does not work.
SM Bus controller doesn't bother me (what it is, I don't know yet), but its not working not not is a big setback.

I tried to download the drivers from toshiba site soundxp5... (something like that) and others, but nothing worked.

Can any one guide me through the steps one by one, that will help get to get the sound back?

PS: I have a system restore DVD, but it will take a full format and I lose all my data.
Never again, he will restore vista while I need XP.

    Hello

It is a known issue and it always seems if two important fixes from Microsoft were not installed.
You will need to install the fixes KB888111 and KB835221 first before installing the audio driver.

    Check this thread:
    http://forums.computers.Toshiba-Europe.com/forums/thread.jspa?threadID=31967

If after installation of hotfixes mentioned in XP you should restart the notebook and then need to install the driver of his newest site Web of Realtek.

See you soon and I would like to know if the sound is working again.

In your Satellite A100 HDD is SATA 1 and it was delivered with 120 GB max.
I tested my old Satellite M70 260 GB SATA HARD drive and it works perfectly, so I think that you can now pass HDD with up to 300 GB for example.
Attention to not only Toshiba HDD but high quality product from any other HARD drive manufacturer.
