Satellite A100 - Questions about slow start, not in the DMA mode CD drivers
Hi all
as you can see I have 3 questions:
1. my Satellite A100-153 starts very slowly (current running avira antivir and sunbelt pfw only like on my other laptop which is older than this one, but not slow start)-anyone has any idea why (I would be very gratefull because I don't have reinstall win and all my stuff)?
2 Nero tells me that my CD is not running in DMA mode - where can I check and fix this?
3. drivers - am I forced the drivers supported on this site or can I use the drivers directly from the manufacturer (ATI for my graphics card, Intel for my chipset realtek for my sound and so on)?
Help is welcome!
Hello
For me, it will be interesting to know what operating system you are using. Anyway, I'll try to give my short opinion on your questions:
-many other factors may be responsible for slow start. It is usually the OS configuration. I'll try to find an interesting article, how to make faster starting and I will post it here for you.
--entrer enter in the device IDE ATA/ATAPI controllers Manager, enter the properties for secondary IDE chanel and open the Advanced Settings tab. Is under transfer mode DMA if available? If this isn't the case, set it to please and after reboot check if the problem persists. DMA if available is usually defined as a default value.
-In general, you can use it but it is well known that manufacturers of graphics card don't support mobile graphics cards and laptop manufacturers are responsible for.
I recommend you to use the Toshiba drivers only. All of these drivers are put to the test.
Good bye

Satellite A100 - 510 PSAA2E cannot start - nothing on the screen
Hello
I had Satellite A100-510 (PSAA2E) since May 2006.
2 weeks before, when I tried to switch the fans started spinning and the LED lit and after about 2 seconds, it restarts without showing anything on the screen. There is also no beeps or anything.
I tried almost everything: remove the hard drive, screen, wireless card, dvd player, change the RAM between the slots...
It makes no difference if.So I think it's a problem of memory or the motherboard is dead, what do you think?
> So I think it's a problem of memory or the motherboard is dead, what do you think?
Yes, the mentioned parts could cause this problemBut it would be the worst case and you must contact the Toshiba ASP for more details
Before that you would get in contact with ASP, I recommend you try this:
-Remove the battery, disconnect the adapter.
-Wait 30-60 minutes
-Bring the two parties together and try to turn on the laptopMaybe if this work around short help

Satellite A100 - questions about the keys to the left hand and added value package
Hello:
The work of doesn´t special keys on left hand. I mean, the keys under the power on button which usually starts the web browser and works with the DVD.
Another question. The value-added package that was installed on my laptop has got a call from the Toshiba Fash utility maps. When I upgraded to the latest version (previosly I had to uninstall it) this SW is not installed. How can I get it back?
Thanks in advance.
Hello
Value added contains several applications:
-Toshiba components pilot common
-Toshiba Utilities
-Toshiba PC Diagnostic tool
-Toshiba Power Saver
-Toshiba Button support
-Toshiba zooming utility
-Toshiba Flash cardsSo as you can see, the button support is included in this package. I don't know what the problem is on your laptop, but when the VAP is installed correctly the multimedia buttons and Flash cards should work correctly.
Try again please remove VAP system, restart the computer and install the latest version available. This latest version works well on the different laptop models (on my Satellite P200D too) and it should work on your too.

When I bought my Toshiba laptop, I received a product with her recovery disk.
At first, I thought it was the recovery of the whole Windows XP (OS which was preinstalled) but on the back cover of the case, he said only "Windows Office One Note"So this product for a recovery notes only?
Yes, it looks like a recovery disk from Toshiba which would format the whole HARD drive and reinstall the operating system preinstalled together.

Satellite A100 - Internet becomes slower after 10 minutes
Hello
the Satellite A100 worked well for a few years, the internet has become suddenly too slow after 10 minutes of the start.
The laptop switched on the first time that the internet works very well the 10 first minutes then becomes slower and slower until almost no packets are received but the connection does not completely down.Suspected spyware, rootkit, is cleaning up, and then installed from the disk recovery
Then I tried the same thing. Uninstalled the connection to the local network and then reinstalled from the Device Manager, nothing.
I figured that the Ethernet port is a failure. Then I used an adapter usb-to-Ethernet D - Link is completely independent of the integrated Ethernet hardware. Nothing, same behavior, working, first fine then Firefox displays a downtimeThe modem, cable, internet are all very well since I have tested with a PC and a laptop Fujitsu (5 years) and they all work very well. Even the D-Link works fine.
The Toshiba pc diagnostic tool specifically says "Network Fail", but it crashes exactly? An idea or a similar experience?
Hello
Hmmmmm... It sounds quite complicated.
What is with WLAN? Have you noticed the same behavior using the WIFI connection? -
About a month ago I posted a question about iMovie and not being able to "share". I solved the problem thanks, so no more emails!

Original title: Windowscodecs.dll missing
IM using a windows machine 7 and one day, he said that the DWM.exe could start not due the windowscodecs.dll file is missing.
I don't have to go back, any system restore points
I ran the/scannow sf in command prompt and it says that the file is corrupted.
I tried to put the machine in safe mode,
I tried troubleshooting and software update
and I tried to download external software to replace the file.
It also affects the Aero theme, so my background is just a black screen!
What else can I try that actually work?
Why we just know it is a virtual machine? Well...
Have you looked on your system here to check that the file is actually missing (of course that mine has been replaced):
I downloaded a file called on my OneDrive:
64bitcodecs.dll (64-bit version)
The link to my a drive is:
https://onedrive.live.com/?ID=EC673DF6F8DFEE84%212368&CID=EC673DF6F8DFEE84
You must visit my OneDrive, upload this file to a place, you can find, rename it to WindowsCodecs.dll and then copy and paste in your c:\windows\system32 folder (assuming that Windows is installed on your C drive).
When you have done so, check again with Explorer that the file is really there (if it was missing before) and if everything looks good, reboot your system and see what things look like.

Satellite A100 - BIOS and Windows does not start after the BIOS update
Hello, I extend my Satellite A100 laptop BIOS.
After update, I can't start my laptop and the BIOS will not start.
You see the Toshiba logo?
Was there a power failure when you updated the BIOS?
Try to remove the battery and the adapter and leave for a few hours. You can also try reinstalling the RAM.
If this does not help, you will need to send it to a Service Center for repair.

Satellite A100 - weird way to start up!
Have just inherited a Toshiba Satellite A100, which is very well apart from a strange fact. When I received it the battery was flat and so I rebooted it, although it was not brimming with ability it hold a charge for about an hour. However, what I find is that I can't boot the pc, unless the charge lead is inserted in the back, even when the battery is fully charged.
The lead has not to be connected to the power outlet, just inserted in the back. So I plug the wire into the rear load switch on and bingo that it starts up, I then remove the wire on the back and all is well. I'm sure it's not as it should be, but cannot find a way of simply by pressing the switch so he can start without inserting the wire in the back. Strange huh!
Cheers from
Mel JonesI never heard of something like that. It's really strange question.
Purchased new, compatible and original battery Toshiba?
What happens when you press the button walk / stop? Is there a any reaction? But you can use laptop when you remove the battery, and you use only the AC adapter?

How can I get the previous update back?
This new update absolutely sucks. No single click to get the bookmarks bar. No button reload of the toolbar. Can't add empty spaces in the toolbar. A huge step backwards.
