  This error message usually appears because the non compatible CD or DVD.
  I think you should first check if there is an ODD firmware update.
  On the Toshiba European page driver you might find updates firmware for different CD/DVD drives.

  You should check your CD/DVD drive and a compatible firmware is available, then you need to update this

  I own a Satellite A100 with XP that I want to format my HD and reinstall everything from the original recovery disc supplied with my pc. When I inserted the recovery disk and restart, press F12 and boot from the CD/DVD, it load ramdrive and then the screen turns white and he finally boot from the HD. So I changed the boot sequence in the Bios so that it boot first from CD/DVD and second HD thinking that way he will have no choice but to boot from the recovery disc. Now what is happening, is it load Ramdrive, the screen shuts off and restarts the boot sequence. Loop on this sequence: ramdrive, virgins and restart... and never stops!

  It seems to me that if the hard drive itself is defective. Error code 0 x 3 occurs when a device or drive is disconnected or damaged. A hard drive damaged, does not accept the files because the system cannot locate the reader, or a fault it prevents! Basically, it cannot find the path that is needed, probably because the hard drive failed!

  Replace the hard drive and reinstall Windows from the recovery discs all should be well.
