Satellite A100 - Wi - Fi connection times out
Whenever I connect to the internet via my modem WiFi (Gateway 2701HGV-W) at home, the connection will end after 3-7 minutes and wireless turns off automatically.
Wireless stoped working so I decided to re - install Windows XP Pro to see if that would fix it upward, it did it not. I sent BigPond thinking it was a problem with the modem but it's not that I can easly connect to Internet via wifi with the iPhone. So I'm guessing its a hardware problem or a problem of setting.
I also tried to connect wireless to my sisteres modem and computer connect directly to the Internet (and she has the same modem and configure it as I have)
I uninstalled connections wireless network connection and added it but still the same problem.
My specs are:
Toshiba Satellite A100 PSAA9A (with built in Intel Pro Wireless 3945ABG Network Connection.)
Windows XP Pro Service Pack 3
I already have a totally clean antivirus and antispyware, scan.
I've already updated my drivers to the latest version.
I saw the problem that is mentioned in other forums, I already googled and I tried all the solutions given on google without success. I'm desperate for help, please help me
Thank you in advance, I really need help
> I decided to re - install Windows XP Pro
Have you done this using original Toshiba recovery media you got with your laptop?
I assume that you have installed the operating system and all the Microsoft updates available and then noticed problems with WLAN. Am I right about that?
Please post us some more info on the installation of the OS and installed updates.
I'm still on dial-up. When I try to download a game, the download is so slow that my connection times out before it can complete the download. What can I do to speed to the top of my download?
Change your broadband connection. You can't wait to download a game on DIALUP! Or use a download manager for the moment.

I have always problems, and what was recommended only it solves so here it is again. I can go to this site ==> http://www.themonastery.org. I can in fact without any problems. In this program, The Unvcersal Life of the monastery church, is a link called network of ULC ministers who, when I click on it, should be to bring me here. ===> http://ministers.themonastery.org.<== when="" i="" attempt="" to="" try="" and="" logon="" to="" this="" url,="" the="" connection="" times="" out,="" without="" connecting.="" i="" went="" to="" my="" local="" library,="" and="" logged="" on="" to="" the="" universal="" life="" church="" monastery,="" and="" ulc="" ministers="" network="" with="" the="" greatest="" of="" ease.="" i="" did="" as="" suggested,="" and="" went="" to="" "internet="" options"="" and="" did="" exactly="" what="" i="" was="" told,="" hoping="" to="" fix="" the="" problem,="" but="" unfortunately,="" i="" still="" have="" the="" problem.="" does="" anyone="" think="" my="" reinstalling="" my="" windows="" 7="" would="" make="" my="" problem="" go="" away?="" help!="" does="" anyone="" have="" an="" answer="" to="" my="">==>
I hope that you are using Internet Explorer 11, this advice applies to that.
You need to reset IE. Launch IE
- Internet Options
- Check the other box
- Close IE
- Open IE
I can't connect to the internet via a wireless connection, it is my laptop is in charge. If it uses no batteries, it connects fine. In addition, the cable connection to the modem works when the computer is using the battery or AC.
The machine is a Satellite A100 Configfree running. I think that maybe that's the problem. A few times when I connect I get an error message on the cfserv.exe stop which is the executable Configfree. I tried to download a new version of configfree but I'm not sure that I need (there are 5 registered on the Web site for the A-100).
You simply check the details of the laptop. There are various laptop A100 but there must also be a serial number on the label at the bottom of the unit.
Then select the good laptop in the shape of pilot page.
You select the operating system and download the new version of ConfigFree
I use a Satellite A100-784 with Vista Home Basic and a US Robotics router. My question/problem is that when I discover the network connection, it shows I am connected to the router, but not to the internet even though I am.
It is a quirk of the Vista operating system or is it normal if you use a router? Should I worry or not?
Thank you all in advance and my apologies for the newbie question.
Each router must be configured and the right data ISP (internet service provider) must be inserted.
-Don't configure you the router?
-How about the TCP/IP settings? All the settings are set to automatic?
-How about firewalls? Have you used one or you turn it?
-Have you tested different browsers?
Please check the points above.
I am a user of portable Virgin and will take my Toshiba Satellite A100 when I go to Portugal for 1 year.
Please can someone advise how I can get internet connection Wi - Fi while I'm away.
To connect the laptop to the wireless LAN, you need to first configure the WLan router.
Each WLan router manufacturing provides a statement of installation and configuration.
After configuring the WLan router, you must activate the WiFi card on laptop you.
Turn on the WLan switch and use the FN + F8 key combination.
Then, you must use either software 3rd party WLAN client configuration like the Intel Proset utility or you will use the own Windows OS option for the WLan connection.
Detailed advice, you will find in this category of the forum or the internet. Google simply
I'm * tent * to connect my laptop to my TV via the s-video on my A100-237 output, unfortunately the (PAL) TV is old enough and the only entrance is RCA so I got a RCA s-video cable. The picture comes out in black and white, and I changed the settings on the TV and PAL video card settings. I heard that you need to activate "composite synch" in the properties of the monitor/TV connected in order to get color on s-video/RCA output, however I can't this setting in the properties of the TV in the ATI Control Panel.
I looked everywhere for info with this particular problem and spent hours playing with the settings of ATI but cannot get color output.
If someone else has had a similar problem or know of a fix that I have not been able to find? Or is it maybe the ATI drivers?
The vga adapter is an ATI Mobility X 1600 512 MB hypermemory, linking the reverend newer drivers from the toshiba site (188.8.131.52).
I have never tested S-video to RCA connection yet, but as far as I know the problem is the TV and no cell phone. The same situation can occur with standard S-video cable and S-video port on the TV must be activated. In this case, the color will be ok.
Sorry, but on this path, it is not easy to write something concrete.
I have a Compaq 8510w running Windows XP. He has trouble establishing a connection wifi to my router. I get a message that it has limited connectivity because the network has not assigned an address. I have run the routine repair several times without success. However, if I simply leave it for 10 minutes, XP manages finally to make the connection.
I already had another Compaq 8510w presenting the same symptoms. I have a dozen of the devices that use the router: none of them have no problem with the wifi connection.
Any ideas how to avoid the delay in establishing the connections please? TIA... Greg
You could try to update your wireless drivers and pass Windows Zero Configuration (WZC) to IntelProset configuration. The Proset software can take advantage of the features built into your wireless chipset and it works better. HP has a very good website of the Compaq and HP computer drivers update. Just go to
and follow the links to drivers and support. Enter your computer and operating system model number and it will take you to a list of the most recent drivers for your computer. In the section 'Drivers-Network', the latest driver for the Intel Pro Wireless is dated April 10, 2009. After downloading/installing this driver, see the "Software - Solutions" section at the bottom of the page and download "Intel Proset Software. as of December 3, 2010. That spend you WZC configuration of Intel and give you a chance to better performance.
My PCP 202O status LED will blink twice - which indicates that there is an error in the firmware (according to the user manual). I have already installed the latest firmware downloaded from the Web site of NOR and it says that I'm supposed to update the operating system of the remote system in MAX. When you try to update the system BIOS, it happens.
Version on the target distance: 10.1
Available on the host version: 10.4
I'm a little confused as to which is the remote target and that is the system that hosts? He also says that the previously installed software will be removed if editing continues and it could damage the material so started or off so I'm a bit skeptical to proceed manually.
I have error alsoreceiving messages in maximum errors in MAX are 'connected - no software installed' and connection to a remote device has expired. I wonder if this error occurs due to the firmware issue, or is it because of the timeout settings? What is the best? A period more or less?
I'm new with this. Any info is greatly appreciated! Thank you!!!
The target is your compact Fieldpoint. The host is your PC that you are. Given that the PC has a newer version, you will want to have the software downloaded to the CFP by MAX. Of course, there is a small chance that you could lose power to the PCP if your luck is bad and that the power is off in the middle of the upgrade. It would be better to have your diet for the CFP running off a battery backup UPS for safety.
I'm guessing that the error is due to your firmware issue.
If you are really unsure on how to proceed, it may be best if you contact DIRECTLY, they can help guide you through the update process.
Windows XP Pro SP3. Dell Latitude D600; NetGear WNA1100 USB adapter
I connect WiFi to one of the two cafes the. In two places, I get about an hour of connection, and then he falls. I use IE7 both FFox.
In a store, I lost the connection with the error message: "this problem occurred because the network has not assigned a network address of the computer." To another, I actually get a blue screen with the error caused by the .sys associated with my NetGear app (I forget the real name until I see the BSOD - athuw.sys or something like that?).
To reconnect, I gotta make a stop full and energized. REPAIR don't reconnect - "could not renew IP address". Even REBOOTING won't let me no reconnect - there must be a full stop and repower.
Windows Firewall is disabled; I use ZoneAlarm free instead. Could there be a conflict? I know that ZA never remember the profiles that I put in place, although the NetGear app not.
According to a post in the forum of NetGear, the automatic configuration service is disabled. (http://forum1.netgear.com/showthread.php?t=1133) (Yes, I have posted this question directly on the NetGear forum - no one has picked up on it.)
If anyone has any ideas I can try (possibly some detailed instructions as I am not very savvy system), I'd be very grateful!
Welcome & thank you for your comments.
Afraid we're drifting still rained off topic here, let me encourage you to start a new thread in the forum on the security of Windows XP in order to discuss the advantages & disadvantages of third-party firewall (e.g., ZA;) Comodo; (Sunbelt): http://social.answers.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/xpsecurity/threads ~ Robear Dyer (PA Bear) ~ MS MVP (that is to say, mail, security, Windows & Update Services) since 2002 ~ WARNING: MS MVPs represent or work for Microsoft
This seems to come up recently, perhaps with a recent Windows automatic update.
I have FTP server running on Windows Server 2003 R2.
The NIC has the firewall Windows is activated, which allows port 21 (FTP) through.
When you use an FTP client from a workstation, the FTP client expires when you navigate to a folder with many files, say the folder/images of a website with 10 + MB in total (which isn't really that much). Navigate to other folders with smaller files seems fine.
Now, when I turn off the firewall of the server, then I can use a FTP client on a workstation to access any FTP folder regardless of the number of files or the size of files and everything is fast fast.
This brings me to the conclusion that the problem lies in the Windows Server 2003 firewall, and we must have this option disabled for FTP clients do not expire.
Hi Scott a. Keen,.
Your question of Windows 7 is more complex than what is generally answered in the Microsoft Answers forums. It is better suited for the IT Pro TechNet public. Please post your question in the TechNet Windows 7 networking forum.
Hi all I'm new here and even though I think I know a little about PC I seem to forget that I have learned.
I have a lappy Satellite A100, which was connected to a home network wireless and worked very well. After travel further using another wireless USB device, I would return home put on wireless and connection obtained immediately.
On a recent trip to Bali, I discovered that there are free hot spots wireless everywhere, however I had problems with the connection on trying to connect and could hang, past my expertise so went to a guy who has tinkered with Lappy I wss then you connect wherever I went, great, until the return to the House.
Put on wireless and cannot connect, I tried everything and had to resort to a cable connection.
I noticed when you use Toshiba cordless tool it is to see the connection to the router, but stops to Lappy with!
It has been considered a clean install, but this seems drastic.
* Help please *.
Using XP or Vista?
(1) what a reception/interference problem? Try moving the laptop or a Wifi access Point
(2) download and install the latest wireless drivers from the Web from Toshiba site
(3) try to disable the Windows Firewall or your 3rd party firewall
(4) use static IP addresses, instead of using the DHCP (dynamic IP address)
(5) update the Firmware of your Wifi access Point. (download from the manufacturer's website)
I am the owner of a satellite * A100-646 * and every time I turn on I have to press several times on * Fn + F5 * for the screen to open but it loads windows vista all ok.
Sometimes, the screen goes black 2 or 3 times but only sometimes.
Someone at - it an ideea about how to solve this problem? anyone had similar problems
This could be the beginning of the end for the my toshiba graphix good?
TYVM. OPERATING SYSTEM
Switches of combination between the internal display and the external video output of keys FN + F5.
So if you want by pressing the FN + F5 buttons, you can switch to external monitor, TV, or monitor external and internal display.
In my opinion you should first update the display driver after the laptop has loaded the Vista.
In addition, go to BIOS and set it to the default settings as well.
Check also if the external monitor has not been defined as a main display...
Last but not least, you could try to reinstall the whole OS in order to check if the problem still persists
I have a Satellite A100-496, and it sets out
Memory type: DDR2 533 MHz (PC2-4200) 200 - PIN SODIMM
Straight forward question - WILL DDR2 667 MHz (PC2-5300) 200 - PIN SODIMM
work in this machine
I'm sure it will work, but I wonder why use RAM with different FSB. If possible, try to get the recommended and tested RAM module:
512 MB DDR2-533 PA3412U - 2 M (51)
1 GB OF DDR2-533 (PA3411U-2M1G)
I have an A100 and it is less than 12 months old and began to close, though. It does not actually close down the screen turns off but is still. All power indicators are on, but it won t do anything.
The only thing I can do is to remove the battery and restart. It seems not to count how many time I've used it as he has done after 20 minutes or much longer.
Mhhh. According to this description the Satellite A100 begins after several time freezing. That sounds like an overheating problem! Especially, the temperature rises to a higher level because the module cooling fans could not turn and could not cool the laptop with a maximum performance parts.
Well, you could try to clean the fans with the hose of the vacuum cleaner against the vents. For most this very simple process helps.
But look, man. This can be done at your own risk! I see that you laptop isn't old and maybe the guarantee could be valid!
So in your case, it s advisable to contact the guys from services in your country.
They could professionally cleaned the laptop!
