Satellite A110 - 180 PSABOE - Bios update failure

Hello.

I've updated the bios with an update from the center of toshiba, but the process is unresponsive and I had to restart the computer. The result is the laptop does not start because I think I lost the bios of programming. I test this http://laptopforums.toshiba.com/t5/General-Technology/Satellite-A215-S4747-Bios-update-failure/m-p method but the laptop will beep 3 times every 2 seconds without stopping and with black screen only. The CD-ROM unit tries to start but that's all.

If anyone knows a separate solution that replace the motherboard, please tell me to probe it.

Thanks for your help.

To me, it looks like the BIOS update procedure has no
I'm afraid you have no other alternative besides contacting an ASP using m.

It seems that the ROM module is not flashed on the correct order and the technician could try to relash Rom module with a BIOS version of crisis

I would recommend contacting the local ASP in order to solve this problem

  • Satellite A110-180 - update of the Bios for Windows 7 and Linux

    Hello

I want to change the following settings in my bios on my laptop satellite A110-180
    * AHCI for SATA
    Disable the IDE

    But none of these options.
So I thought that maybe I should update my bios.
I found the download page, but there are 2 options: Windows Vista or NO vista, but I want to dual boot windows 7 and linux.

Which one should I download, or is there another option to change the settings?

    Thank you!
    Bart

    Hello

Satellite A110 does not support these options (SATA AHCI).
The update of the BIOS will not help you!

Linux is not supported and therefore, you will not find any special BIOS for Linux OS!

The two BIOS updates are for Win Vista or OS independent.
Therefore, if you use other than Vista OS then you should throw the update of the independent BIOS to the BONE!

But as mentioned above; both options will not appear after the BIOS update!

  • Satellite A110-180 - fan starts but stops after a few seconds

    Hello

I have a Toshiba Satellite A110-180 and when I turn on the computer, the fan turns on but it stops in a few seconds and starts again in a while and stops again and starts... Then the laptop gets heat quickly.

I bought the laptop about 5 years ago, so I think the problem is the fan or the circuit that controls the fan. Can someone who has had the same problem make sure that the fan is the problem?

The fan part number is ATZHG000500. Does anyone know if a fan with P/N ATZHG000100 is compatible with my laptop, or if I can use another fan?

    Thanks for your help,

    Hey Wiley,

First of all it of normal that the fan starts and after a few seconds, or 1 minute stops. Depending on the programs you run again the departure of fan after a few seconds or minutes. So, theoretically, it of normal what is happening.

But if your laptop is almost 5 years old, you should try to clean. So I can recommend jet of compressed air. This could blow out the dust from the cooling fans. It is very cheap but very useful.
    Check it!

In addition, I think that the thermal paste should be renewed a technicians authorized laptop can help you and answer if the other fan part number fits in your laptop. :)

  • Satellite L40 - 12K - BIOS update failure

    Hi people,

It is the second Toshiba laptop, I've managed to screw up. I don't know why, but it seems that Toshiba is especially prone to spectacular failure of BIOS.

This laptop (Satellite L40 - 12K, short model PSL40E) has a bios made by FRIEND and Toshiba has an update on its Web site for windows that uses the tool of WinFlash.exe made by ASUS.

The tool only works for 32-bit operating systems, and I had installed a 64-bit version of Windows, I could not pass the laptop.

Then I thought: we will try to update the bios from MS-DOS, using a bootable flash drive!

I went to the ASUS ftp site and downloaded the latest AFUDOS (2.41). This is a special version of the afudos FRIEND tool, specially designed for ASUS.

I ran the tool under MS-DOS, and it will make sure the BIOS automatically confirmed that the binary file was compatible with the laptop model and automatically starts the process of flashing.

But it crash in the phase of "flash erase". He was stuck there for HOURS, so I turned off the computer and tried to turn it back on.

Not at all, the laptop won't turn. It does not even ANY SOUND. NO LIGHTS, NO NOISE, NO FAN, NOTHING.

    ABSOLUTELY AND COMPLETELY DEAD.

So, there you have it. I have flashed dozens of computers (servers, laptops, workstations, etc.) in my life, and I've only had TWO failures.

TWO of them were with Toshiba laptops. Geez, Toshiba is really the King of the failures of BIOS flashing!

    Hello

I would never try update the Toshiba BIOS with a BIOS from other support pages for computer laptop manufacturer
What to say; I found one from Toshiba victory of the BIOS and traditional BIOS Toshiba U.S. driver page:

    http://www.CSD.Toshiba.com

Maybe you could try to Flash the BIOS using this version of BIOS
If this is not possible, then only a service provider authorized Toshiba would be able to help you.

By the way: I've had three different Toshiba notebooks: A210, U400, and now Tecra A11.
The BIOS update has worked perfect for all series...

  • Satellite P200D-137 - suspected of BIOS update failure

    Hello

My friend asked me to watch his old Satellite P200D of 2 days. He decides to perform the recommended Toshiba updates, after leaving the machine (plugged) and return after about an hour, he was off.

Now switch on the machine causes a black screen with just the hard drive, fans and dvd burner, turning the power on. This being the case, I feel, it was a BIOS update he did this failed. Is it possible to recover from this at all?

    Thank you

You know with certainty that it was done. If the BIOS update is screwed up, it can be problematic, and I'm afraid there is nothing you can do alone and without service.

How does something like this happen?
After RAM upgrade boot is actually not different as before. Portable operations are faster.

Can you please tell us which module RAM do you have used for the upgrade?
I checked the laptop computer's specification and memory modules compatible RAM for your Satellite A110 are:
    1 GB-PA3411U-1M1G
    2GB - PA3513U-1M2G

version 1.70 (for XP), but the laptop continues to show only 1 GB.

    I tested the RAM separately:
-inserted only 1 stick in the drive and the pc started ok showing 1 GB of RAM
-then I inserted the same stick in another location and it also worked well showing 1 GB of RAM
    - then I checked another unit of the RAM in the same way and worked well
-When I try to put 1 GB of Ram and the old 512 MB RAm the BIOS correctly showed the new value of 1.5 GB
-i also checked the other 1 GB of ram and the old 512 MB of ram and showed good again in the Bios with the value of 1.5 GB
    - but when I tried to put the 2 ram set units to obtain the BIOS only detected 1 GB 2 GB.

I think the problem is that the two s of RAM are not compatible, but it is not explained to me because use you two identical modules.

In your case I return the RAM to the computer dealer and say the modules work together in your notebook, but your laptop definitely supports 2 GB of RAM.

I think that there is no other way because you have updated your BIOS to the latest version.
Here is the part number for RAM Toshiba compatible:

    Help, please. WHICH IS: ACPI\TOS1901 * TOS1901

    Hello

ACPI-> Advanced Configuration and Power Interface
ACPI defines hardware and software interfaces that allow focus on the OS configuration and power management to enumerate and configure motherboard devices.
For example: ACPI is necessary for the standby and hibernation mode.

Now your question; the new BIOS has been updated and configured to using VISTA.
It seems that VISTA was not compatible with the previous version of BIOS because the ACPI interface. Now you can install Vista on the laptop, but it seems that you need a driver. Possibly new chipset driver version might help. But as you probably know, the drivers are not available at this time. Unfortunately

    His big problem to work

Thank you and I hope you can help me...

    Hello

The version of the BIOS should be mentioned in the BIOS settings.
Turn on the device, press F2 and verify the version here.

Also I recommend the settings of the BIOS back to default settings.
In the BIOS settings, you will need to press F9 to get the default value. Then save the changes and exit the BIOS.
Restart the machine and check how many processes are running in the context of the BONE.

I recommend disabling of certain non-essential processes in msconfig.
There, you can go to the Startup tab and could uncheck the unnecessary process.

  • Satellite C855 - 19 X - BIOS update problem

    Hi all

I have a Satellite phone C855 - 19 X and the alert tempo TOSHIBA utility prompts me to update my BIOS. However when I am doing so I get the following message

    "Error".
    Flash process will end!

Please contact BIOS OEM Engineer to add the feature.
Without this IHISI interface, variables to authenticate will be modified or erased by flash process.

You can add the following parameter in platform.ini to ignore the error.

Does anyone have any experience with this kind of problem? Should I add this parameter, or is otherwise around it? Because the BIOS will be affected I hesitate to do so.

    Thank you in advance.

    Hello

First of all, you should know that the update of the BIOS is a sensitive technique and using wrongly you can damage the motherboard. So be sure to always update the BIOS.

Second, the update of the BIOS is not quite necessary in case your laptop runs correctly.
You have problems using the laptop? Isn't it? Well, in this case I wouldn't touch the BIOS.

However, the error message is telling as secure boot
Secure boot is an available option in the BIOS settings. You should probably disable secure boot before running the BIOS update file.

    Hello
    I'm actually having a satellite M40-307 with a BIOS version 1.2.

If someone is having a 1.3 or a higher version of BIOS, I want to send him a Toshiba util to send me its firmware.

    Concerning

    Hi Etienne

Don t think that a series of Satellite M40 PSM44E were shipped with the BIOS 1.3 or higher.
Series only the BIOS 1.2 is available for the PSM44E. It s on the page of the Toshiba driver.

Of course, you will also find an other BIOS updates; v1.7 and v2.0

  • Satellite A500 emit after bios update 1.50

    Hey guys and girls,

I have some problems after the update of the bios. Before the update my laptop has been the scene of much smoother and everything was fine and dandy until Tempro told me to update my bios. The problem is that after the update, the temperature seems to be considerably higher as usual when I play the game (I am a gamer) and also all the games I play seems to be much slower than before (lower, gal frame rate). Before the update I could play Dragon Age Origins with 1366 x 768 with 4 x anti-aliasing and the only one that I could get the same performance with the graphic parameter above is on 800 x 600. Now, it is certainly a big problem for someone who is a graphics junkie when it comes to games.

    * What do you think I should do? *

    A. downgrade my bios for when I bought everything first? (I don't know what version of bios is if anyone knows the stock bios?)
    B. perform HARD drive recovery?
    C. clean install of Windows 7 64-bit?

    My laptop computer spec:

    Model name: Satellite A500
    Part number: PSAR3E-00N005EN
    Serial number: X9206227K
OS version: Windows 7 64-bit Home Premium edition
    BIOS version: 1.50
    Physical memory: 4096MB RAM
Graphics card: NVIDIA Geforce GT 230 M

Any help with this is greatly appreciated.

    Hi mate

I think you had a version of BIOS 1.30
In older versions of the BIOS update are not available on the Toshiba driver download page. Only ASP (partner) has access to these early BIOS versions

In any case, I found an interesting thread:
    http://forums.computers.Toshiba-Europe.com/forums/thread.jspa?threadID=50577

Not sure if it could be useful but check

PS; the graphics card driver update is a good idea it too check

  • Re: Satellite C660 - after cooler BIOS update speed is increased and troubling

    Good evening
Five hours ago, I did update the BIOS and restart the computer after that I noticed that the speed of the cooler is increased and worrying. Mention that they bought a Toshiba Satellite C660 last month.
Please, if you can help me how to set the correct rotation!

    Thank you!

PS: Sorry for my English I'm not from England!

I think several people have posted about it here on this forum so it's a shame you don't l l check this forum before you took the decision to put the BIOS updated. If you have some time check other assignments in category C satellite.

In any case, I can say, it's that you can try to reduce the speed of the cooling fan with cooling method option in the advanced power settings.

This should reduce the speed of the cooling fan and your laptop will work a lot quieter. Put simply to option in battery mode.

  • Satellite A300 - after the BIOS update I can not install two OS

    Hello everyone:

I bought a laptop Toshiba Satellite A300-247 with Windows Vista Home Premium.

Then I formatted it and divided the hard (320 GB) into 6 partitions and installed Windows Vista and Windows XP on drive C to drive D after having changed the SATA controller mode in the BIOS for compatibility. The computer worked well with 2 operating systems. However, when I updated the BIOS to version 1.9, two operating systems stop working and one of them can be installed: XP can be installed when SATA controller mode is placed on compatibility and Vista can be installed only when the SATA is changed to AHCI.

Is there is no explanation of what past? And can I install operating systems 2 together again?

    Thank you

    Hello

First of all, I doubt that this has something to do with the BIOS update. I think that after the BIOS update HARD drive mode has been changed from AHCI to compatibility and therefore the OS didn't start.

Anyway, in compatibility mode you can install Vista and XP without the SATA drivers. This should t be a problem.

But do you know the difference between compatibility and AHCI? AHCI mode is faster and therefore I would recommend this mode.
Like you said Vista you can already install in AHCI mode and for XP, you need Intel Storage Manager. This package includes the SATA drivers you need and here is a step by step guide to use these drivers:
    http://APS2.toshiba-tro.de/KB0/HTD9401AN0000R01.htm

Last but not least, you can install 2 OS. You can do what you want! ;)
