Problems with sound after installing Vista Ultimate SP1 on HP Pavilion Dv4 I lost sound after installing Vista SP1 Ultimate on my HP Pavilion Dv4... everything was fine before. Help, please. Go to the HP support website and search for Windows Vista drivers for your specific model number. Also look for recent updates, even if your PC comes with Windows Vista preinstalled. If there are Vista drivers then download to a folder on your hard drive and install all of them, starting with the installation card mother/chipset drivers, then the SATA, LAN, Audio, drivers and other device drivers. J W Stuart: http://www.pagestart.com Re: No sound after install Vista - Tecra M7 I improved my Tecra M7 to Vista (and then upgraded to Vista SP1) but the computer is no longer plays sounds (no music, no sound system - nothing) I installed the latest Realtek HD driver, I have the latest version of the Bios. Device Manager indicates that everything is working. "Speaker" icon tells me that his work (the green bar follows the beat of the music) The volume & button Mute works - I can't get the "speaker" modifying, turning to the top/bottom/inhibition icon. I tried the headphones in and out. I checked the bios if the sound card has been disabled it - but it seems that there is no possibility to change the settings of the sound card in the bios. Does anyone have an idea on what I'm doing wrong here? Maybe I can help you; I read on a sound problem after installation of Vista it happened if XP was preinstalled on your laptop and the mute box was accidentally activated. Satellite U300 - no sound after installing Win XP Hello I just reinstalled windows xp Prof today and upgraded to service pack 3. Sound has worked well in the first until a reboot, no more noise. In both cases there is no sound... Im hoping someone can help me with this problem cos Im leaving on vacation tomorrow and really need my sound ;) Thanks in advance! Hello You should on Windows XP two audio patches if you have a card high definition audio: These updates are in integrated SP3, you must install Service Pack 3 or the updates first, then the audio driver. So in your case, I would like to delete the sound driver, use CCleaner and then install the latest version from the Toshiba site. Good luck! Satellite A30 - no sound after installing the audio driver I've updated the audio driver on my laptop A30 today on the Toshiba site with download of Realtek Semiconductor Corporation, and now the sound does not work. It's my single stereo so I feel really bad. The original driver discs are stored and I'm not very techie so help please... Thanks a lot for your time, Phill Hi Phill, First of all, I would like to check the sound settings in the control panel to make sure that none of them are extinguished, and that "dumb" is not checked. Also check that the volume on the side of your A30 control is enough at full volume. In the case where everything is set correctly, I would then reload the driver Realtek of the utility CD and tools of Toshiba. If you do not have access to the CD then you can restore the driver to its original state by selecting the audio device in Device Manager"and roll back driver it. If all else fails you should be able to 'restore' your system from the last point before your installation of the new driver restore. Did you start your laptop with F8?
What happens when you click Repair option?
A few reinstalls the drivers now, sometimes he says its all installed fine, other times it says no audio devices installed.
Sometime on a restart (many reboots today) the sound suddenly came back to life, to die again at the next reboot...
