Satellite A135-S4417 - boot failure

Hello

Recently, what action it has been generating a beep and if it stays on he will repeat this beep every 15 to 20 seconds.
However, it is now a boot failure beyond the Vista login screen and everything stops instantly.

Several attempts to start with or without battery or only connected to a power outlet and it is beyond the 'press or ... '. "screen and then stops. No beep.

If it remains beyond this screen, I get the beep as described above.
If I remove the RAM it does not show anything on the screen or beep somehow.

In all cases, that the upward light cooling fan, stay on for a few seconds, then stop, then the laptop dies or keep trying to load Windows and then shuts down immediately. If it becomes quite far as it beeps again in the same range as described above.

The wind side allows me to see the heat sink and it seems clear of debris and I had no cases of overheating.
Without no beeps error or other symptoms I don't see what is really bad or anything to verify.

Any ideas?

Thank you

Are you using the original Toshiba AC adapter? Maybe its defective or may not provide enough amps.

  • Satellite Pro 2100 Boot Failure

    Hello

I have a MS PRO 2100 who * was * running Win XP Pro SP1 with Celeron 2 GHz, 512 MB of Ram and 30 GB HARD drive. Bought in early 2003, so out of warranty. I tried to install SP2 on a CD of MS, but got bored after a while and leave the machine unattended. I returned about half an hour later to find the machine apparently tried to start in SP2. 10 minutes later the start screen was still, but the machine would not start. (The HARD drive light was active overall, as it has been in the following scenarios).

To cut a long story short, I tried Safe Mode and fix Installation without joy, before giving up in the belief that SP2 has been the problem. Data has been backed up and I have a full copy of XP Pro SP2, spare, so I thought I would do a clean install. Booted from the XPSP2 CD and tried to format HARD drive. Hung at 0% formatted for 20 minutes before I stopped.

Subsequently tried recovery CD product, which seemed installs correctly, including the replacement of the partition, that I had to destroy when I tried to format the HARD drive. Little difference in the startup problem - now it slowly boots as much as the start screen for XP SP1 and does not move for several minutes, until a BSOD pops up with the technical element of the message (all on one line) STOP: 0x0000007E (0xC0000006, 0x80658CAA, 0xF8954704, 0xF8954404)

'Start-up' safe mode now consists of a scrolling list intermittently from drivers who stop on agp440.sys for awhile before the BSOD appears, as indicated above.

My apologies for the length of the post. I think that sounds pretty terminal but if anyone can shed any light on it I would appreciate it greatly.

    Merry Christmas!

    Hello

Sounds strange! I would try to start the computer with a startup disk (which can be downloaded at www.bootdisk.info) and run fdisk and chkdsk.exe to scan the HARD drive!

Also, you should check the settings of the BIOS and new st failing!

    Try and keep me posted!

  • Satellite U920T - Ubuntu Boot Failure

    Hello

I installed Ubuntu on my U920t. Everything works well except the boot.

    * Boot from USB for installation succeeded
    * Boot from USB with rEFInd (http://www.rodsbooks.com/refind/) works like a charm
    * Directly boot from SSD does not, demand for the system disk.

I tried several settings in the BIOS/EFI, but always without success. Any idea what goes wrong?

    Kind regards

    Frank

You have disabled the secure boot and you used the CSM boot mode?

This is the biggest change to use and launch systems other than Win 8 and 8.1 Win

By the way: the Windows requires the installation of the SATA (driver Intel RST) driver to recognize the HARD drive correctly.
I think that such driver SATA missing in the Linux distribution can also affect the initialization of the system.

    Hello

I agree with deepblue. Please do not forget that your device has BT device on board. The fact is that software BT is preinstalled sometimes even if the laptop has not BT on board. It is sometimes confusing, but there are simply an explanation for it.

Models of laptop computers in the United States are not known to me, but a similar situation is here in Europe. Satellite A120 laptop series comes with many different hardware configurations. Because of this, you may notice description A120-xxx. It is not possible to create images for each model and it's created an image of standard facilities. For this reason, it can happen that you have BT software preinstalled on your device that BT is not available.

Please check again if your mobile phone has BT aboard.

I have Toshiba A135-S2356 and am having the same problem.
Mine started to do after I was I had problems with only 2 of my usb ports work.

I saw a topic on it and there was a link to update the system bios, http://laptopforums.toshiba.com/t5/General-Technology/My-Satellite-A135-S2356-is-having-USB-port-issues/m-p/17285, through this site.

I clicked on the link and downloaded the update. Once I clicked on install the computer froze and I couldn't restart at all. The only way was for me to take the battery. Once I have the battery in I tried to return to power and that's when this current question has started to happen.

    Hi Forum:

I try to restore the factory default in my laptop Satellite A135 where to finish the process I have received an Error Message and press ok and disable my laptop automaticlly.

NOTE: Only use the CD/DVD, my laptop does not have the partition hiding any help?

    Hello

I googled a bit for this error message and it seems that the error would have apparently due to HARD drive failure.
So in your case, it would be desirable to replace the HARD drive and to verify if the error persists using a new HARD drive.

  • Satellite A135-S2386 - DVD - RAM drive problems

Hi guys, I have a Toshiba Satellite A135-S2386.
I had once repaired because it is over heated and died.

One problem I noticed, the fool who fixed, he didn't put it back correctly, and the DVD player has been hot glued...
I fixed in March, April. But I'm used to, I can anyway...

However, there is a significant problem.
Written DVD player and bed PERFECTLY well in windows, however it cannot not be detected in the BIOS or what not.
As XPInstallation Windows, Vista install detects it but BIOS can't.

Can I update the firmware of the DVD-RAM? It's years Panasonic UJ-840.
Or I can update the BIOS of the machine itself?

You can boot from the CD? If the boot of CD work, then the BIOS is to see it properly.

You could try an update of the BIOS anyway, go to http://eu.computers.toshiba-europe.com/cgi-bin/ToshibaCSG/download_drivers_bios.jsp

  • Satellite A135-S2356 - BIOS will not identify SATA hard

Hello everyone, hope you can help out me.

Got a Satellite A135-2356 opportunity, everything seems fine but BIOS will not identify SATA HDD, shows no disk BIOS downgraded to 1.30, not good, upgraded to 1.40, not good. BIOS has no change/test/detection of HDD/SATA settings options. Tested the drive in another laptop and it reads very well. Received the Toshiba (Vista Basic 32) recovery CD, but given that the BIOS will not read the disk, can't do anything. Cleaned contacts, not good. This HARD disk must be too large, or something for the Board of Directors.

    * Hitachi HTS541612J9SA00 120 GB SATA, 5400 RPM *.

    Thanks for the help!

    Hello Richie

To be honest, I do not think the disc is too big for your laptop. I can imagine that your laptop can handle with drives of 160 GB too. Unfortunately there is no public document on the possibilities of HARD drive upgrade. I can imagine that ASP in your country has information about such things.

It's also quite strange that HDD is not recognized correctly. Long ago, I had the same problem. Every time when I used F12 at startup disk HARD were not as boot device. Solution in my case was to upgrade the BIOS to the default settings. I believe that your BIOS has already the default settings, but try to do it again.

  • Drivers Windows XP for Satellite A135-S2246

I've been running the default Vista on my A135-S2246 with a total of 1 GB of installed memory. It's just dog-slow; My wife & I can no longer take it.

No driver for Win XP is available at Toshiba for this model. A colleague has an A105-S2141 which I thought that can be almost identical, so I downloaded all the drivers.

So far, on a partitioned hard drive freshly, I installed WinXP Pro, patched to SP2 and got most of these s2141 drivers to install successfully. Right now I'm left with only two unknown devices in Device Manager, which I think is related to ACPI and buttons 'special' - all the FUNCTION keys and the four buttons to the left of the normal keyboard (web/music, play, stop, prev/fwd?).

What I know is that I can't get the ACPI common Modules (common_modules_24589A.exe) function to install - it says: "the usefulness of this software does not support this system. Installation will end. Because of this failure, a few other pilots s2141 install because they report that they need these "common modules" to be installed first. Other drivers who are not the Hotkey Utility, enable/disable Touchpad and utilities Toshiba for Windows XP.

Everything is fine - video drivers, devices pci, usb, dvd/cdrom, ide, lan, atheros wireless drivers - they are all happy happy with the Win XP downgrade. But I don't want this o/s officially unless I set the unknown devices and get my FUNCTION keys working again.

    Any suggestions?

    Hello

Satellite A135-S2246 has been designed for an American market and you should look for on the Toshiba site we drivers compatible.
In fact the XP drivers are not available at this time!

So you can use other XP drivers on other computers that support the same card WLan, LAN, graphics card, etc.
But you will not be able to install utilities such as common modules, keys Fn etc because these tools must be designed specially for the series of the laptop.

I don t see it differently as to wait for the release of the XP disc

  • Satellite A135: Vista will not start after replacing HARD drive using the recovery disk

Toshiba Satellite A135-s7403 HARD drive failed, I have replaced the 80 GB with a WD Scorpio blue 250 GB hitachi. This computer' only option is to click OK.

Where to click ok, you get an another msg that says "windows could not complete the installation, install reinstall windows. I tried like 50 times now. Hello

Have you tried another HARD drive in your Satellite A135?
I ask this question because if the HARD drive works fine in another computer looks like the HARD drive on the motherboard controller is defective

Please check another HARD drive and see what happens. Either the disk is defective or the HARD disk on the motherboard controller.

  • How to restore the Satellite A135-S4727?

I bought this computer about two months ago and I'm going to buy a new one soon.
I'll give the Satellite A135 to my sister.
How to restore all the default values with spoil them my warranty or something like that.
    help please

    It's easy:

If you have recovery media, it just put in your DVD/CD player, press F12 when the toshiba logo appears, and then choose the CD drive to boot from.

After that, a Recovery Wizard will guide you trough the rest of the reocvery process. After that, the HARD drive would be like "factory-installed" which means it would be you bought the machine and the OS is like the first day so use.
