    Hello

As far as I know, you can enable and disable the lighting in the BIOS.
Go to BIOS and check if you can activate it.

By the way; you said that buttons don t work with Vista.
Have you tested this with Vista OS preinstalled Toshiba?

    Hello world

I'm new here but I have an urgent problem. I hope that you guys can tell me what to do. I have this laptop SATELLITE A100-1011E model. My AV button which located on the left side of the keyboard does not work.

I'm sure that it works always 3 days ago, but I don't know what I did and it doesn't now. I n it's a driver issue cause I just bought this phone 5 days ago. I checked with this 'Toshiba' commands in the Panel and I've assigned to the right program (windows media player 10) but it does not work when I press a key.

Can someone help me with this? :( Thank you very much.

  • Spilled beer on Satellite A300-16I - now button does not work:

    Hello

I accidentally spilled beer on my computer... not really what you need to do: S
Well now, I have a little problem that my key 'h' that is not responding.
So, when I press it and does not work... without 'h' are written.

Is there a way I could fix this cause I don t feel like using the copy / paste function to write the letter "h"... Well I hope someone like solution :)

    Hello

Hmm, in all likelihood, your keyboard needs to be replaced.
I doubt that the only button H can be fixed and thus the entire keyboard needs to be replaced.

Contact the ASP in your country and request a replacement.

However, you can also use an external USB keyboard, but I think that it of better to have a laptop keyboard that works properly.

  • Satellite A500-138 - lighting buttons does not work even in the BIOS

    Hello.

I'm just curious to know if anyone else has a problem with the (play/pause excatly) multimedia keyboard backlight? Mine died today, and there is nothing I can do to make it work again.

The key still works, but when I turn on the backlight, backlight on everyone, but the play/pause (the backlight of the other keys work, touchpad and Satellite logo too).

I use Windows 7, but the problem persists even in the BIOS.

I think the backlight of the button is just dead.

I have to admit I'm really disappointed with this laptop. Config is great, design and are also involved, but I can just take the couine noise that makes C2D (RMClock, one utility, I know that to solve this problem, does not recognize the A500 motherboard) and the fan almost never works to 70%, and now that the backlight...

If the backlight of the multimedia key stops working after 3 weeks of use, which will be in the future? It's too scary to think ;)

I was really excited by Toshiba, but day after day I come to the conclusion, that it is the first and the last laptop that I bought at Toshiba - never had similar problems on other laptops, same nonames.

Of course, I know that I can has sent for fix, I guarantee (and wait about a month to get a backlight fixed stupid). But why hell not the backlight stoped working, if LEDs vitality is long as hell? It can mean two things: I really don't have a chance, or Toshiba did not pay too much attention to detail during production A500s. And after 3 weeks of use, I fear that the second option is much more likely...

Then, someone has a feeling similar to this topic? And someone has a problem with backlight?

    Hello

He damage of s to hear that your light has stopped working, but I think that it s just a software problem.
I have a Satellite A500 equipped with buttons of enlightenment and everything works great with Vista and XP I m very satisfied.
Unfortunately until that yet I didn't test with Win 7.

I doubt you want to send this laptop for ASP, as I said, there seems to be a software problem and you can find it easily
You must set the notebook to factory settings I mean that you must use the recovery disc in order to get the same State as on the first day of purchase

Moreover, I visited the European driver of Toshiba page and, unfortunately, I didn't see no Win 7 drivers for this series at this time
I guess that Windows 7 drivers will be released in the near future.
So I wonder how you came to the button illumination because this feature requires the Toshiba driver and tools as well as the drivers aren't there?  :|

  • Satellite L840/03R - FN buttons does not work properly after Win 8 upgrade

I bought a new L840/03R and installed Windows 8 using the Toshiba Upgrade Wizard. There is no error message.

The function keys do not work with the CTRL and ALT keys So I can't use the shortcuts like ALT-F4 to close windows - which gives "second screen" options. It does this for F4 on its own, or by pressing CTRL, ALT or SHIFT key.

In addition, F11 activates / deactivates sound we / off rather than go full screen in chrome. F12 allows flying mode instead of "Save as" in word.
Just downloaded and installed the package of value added.

Am I missing something really obvious?

  • Satellite P300-1EJ - Mute button does not work

    Hello world

Press mute on the media panel is no longer functional.
    I have the Satellite P300 1EJ.

    Help, please

    Hello!

Is - it only the mute button not working or other buttons too?

Normally you need for these buttons the Toshiba value added package if you are using Vista. I think you should try to reinstall. So to remove the older version, reboot the laptop and install the most recent version that you can download from the Toshiba site:
    http://EU.computers.Toshiba-Europe.com-online decision-making supported Downloads & => Download drivers

    Good luck!

    Good bye

  • Satellite Pro L500 - wireless button does not work

I have problem with my wireless switch. Take a look at this [photo: http://bildr.no/view/591716]. It is said "bryterstatus: pa ' which is translated (badly) to" change status: on»

Although, when I press Fn + F8, nothing happens. All the other 'random' shortcuts button + FN keyboard works well. In other words, I can not connect to my wireless. I know it works because I can connect with my iPhone. There is also nothing wrong with the connection, I tried Michael / active on and outside. Tried to restart my laptop. I even downloaded the new drivers. Nothing seems to work. How can I activate the switch?

    Best regards
    Miguel Rodrigues

    Hello Miguel

Your laptop factory settings or you changed something?
Have you installed the own operating system or laptop has always original operating system preinstalled?
Wireless network adapter installed and listed correctly in the Device Manager?

Use of WLAN is so simple, and by default, it should work correctly. The same principle is on all laptops from Toshiba even. When you want to use the WLAN you move WLAN switch in position ONE and use the FN + F8 key combination to activate the wireless network card. All that s.

What you can try is to reinstall the additional package of value?

    Hello

Go to the control panel and select the Toshiba control utility.
There you should find a TV key which must be set to output TV out

I think this should solve your problem.

  • Left click the Satellite C660 Touch Pad/buttons does not work

    Hi guys!
I own a Toshiba Satellite C660 (of course: P) anyway. Today, I was just doing what I do usually on my laptop,
when suddenly the left button of the mouse has stopped working. (Bare with me, it's very weird to explain xD!) Also I can not 'left click' on my touch pad. I can still move the cursor with the touchpad and right click with the right button.

I tried slightly shaking incase of crumbs, or something. Although I never eat around my laptop. It is not difficult to grow as there is something under it, it just doesn't work!

In summary, I can't left click. But I'm able to move and made a click right, weird!

For the moment I have my USB mouse plugged in my computer and it works fine, but it is very annoying!

Sorry if I don't explain it too well!

    Help, please!

On this virtual path, it is not easy to say what the problem is here. It is not easy to tell if the left touchpad button is faulty or disabled in some way.

As a first step, you should check all the settings for the touchpad. If your laptop computer has preinstalled software check Synaptics all parameters associated with the touchpad buttons.

  • Satellite A300-1HV: light button does not work

    Hi guys,.

I recently bought a Satellite A300-1HV, and while that in the store, the salesman showed me it was possible to turn off the light behind the function/media at the top of the keyboard buttons. It seems to do by simply pressing the first button (the mute button).

When I got home I tried several times, and he did in fact machine do what I expected (i.e. off lighting). The manual describes the first button under the button "Mute or LED power. Later that night, I tried the button again once, but this time it acted as a mute button and either turns off the lighting. In addition, the second button (CD/DVD) no longer seems to work at all, although it lights up when you press.

I tried the Toshiba Assist software and am able to manually turn off the lighting, but the 'Toshiba button Support' seems to have no effect on buttons. I guess this would allow me to set up manually a program runs when I press one of two buttons, but no matter what I ask it to run, it does nothing.

It's as if there is a piece of software that should be run, leading the keys, that I do not have (or at least no longer have).

    Any ideas?

    Hello

You can enable this back in the BIOS.
You can access this menu by pressing the F2 key when turned on the machine.

Select the Advanced section and turn on LED lighting.

    See you soon

  • Satellite A135-S2286 - USB ports does not work after BIOS update

I recently had the dreaded BIOS password prompt problem. I checked online to the toshiba support site and took the laptop to a toshiba authorized service center and is fixed by getting the updated BIOS updated to 1.60, but after update BIOS, none of my USB ports work.

When I connect a USB device, a warning from yellow pop up comes up unrecognized USB device. The same USB device works fine on other computers/laptops. I searched online for a solution and found on a lot of people have the same problem, but did not find any fix for this error.

It will be useful, if someone has a solution for this error.

    Hey Buddy,

Is there yellow exclamation marks in Device Manager next to USB ports or they appear correctly?

If you notice a yellow exclamation you must remove the USB port and restart the computer. All USB ports are installed automatically, you do not need an additional driver.

I hope that it helps :)

  • Satellite P300 - quick launch buttons does not work properly

I installed Windows 7 Pro on my Satellite P300 and everytime I try to use the button mute etc it starts the program set button assignment but no options are available to choose.

Has anyone encountered this and a fix?

    Hey Jones,.

Can you please tell us which version of Windows 7, you have exactly? I mean the 32-bit version or 64-bit and you downloaded the package of value added specially for Windows 7? From Toshiba Web site shows also different patterns of P300, what model number you have?

Have you ever tried to assign different functions to the button? For example, there is a file mute.exe as far as I know in case Toshiba should be assigned to the button mute. Check it!

Maybe reinstall the VAP might also be useful.

  • Re: Satellite M70-144 - Internet button does not work correctly

    Hello
I have a laptop M70-144. Pressing the button opens up internet Office level but will not start internet explore. This must be done manually. I have re-installed controls Toshiba and 1.5 Bios. Could someone please inform me of what may be wrong. I've never used the button so don't know not if she ever open IE.

    Thank you very much

    Hello

You n t need to reinstall the Toshiba controls again.

What you need to do is to properly configure the Toshiba control button.

In Control Panel, you can find the Toshiba control utility.

The first tab called buttons provides two parameter to configure the Internet and CD/DVD button.

There, you have to assign the Internet Explorer (default browser) to Internet button and apply the changes.

    It should help.
