Satellite A200-1SC: which tool controls the fan?

Hello

I'm looking for a program that I can control the fan speed. Because my fan turns on all 10 dry:(sans charge cpu!)

Or someone has a Bios more elders where the fan runs slower? My bios version is 1.70

Hello

I use the FanSpeed on my laptop Toshiba-No.
But I don't think it will work on your A200.
The fan table that is stored in the BIOS controls modules cooling and, therefore, it s unlikely that this tool is running.

My laptop CPU fan always turns to 74-80% of max speed. That's a lot of noise. I tried cpucool, but it did not work.

If does not work, the fan speed will remain at the temperature of 0 with cpu at 38 oC. But with any operation tiny, like the click of the mouse, it will change again to 74%, CPU temperature does not change.

I ask this question because my laptop rarely use the fan at a higher speed.

Today, I listened to more than the normal fan, I have check the temperatures and the CPU was Core1:95ºC Core2:99ºC
I'll clean the fan, but I want to know how can I manually control the fan (of course with the software: P)

    Hello

I guess that the Toshiba Power Saver has been installed on your laptop and you use this software from Toshiba.

If you are using Win XP and that the GST is installed, then you can check the configuration of basic settings and you might find the options to control CPU, CPU processing speed and method of cooling.

If you are using Vista, then you should check the Vista Power Options:
Check this thread how to manage Windows Vista power management features

But in most cases, the cooling modules are controlled by fan that is stored in the BIOS table.

  • Satellite A200 PSAE6E: Impossible to install the audio drivers after installing Win XP realtek

    Hello...

Recently, I repartitioned my laptop HD to install XP and kubuntu (it came with vista)... However, I was not able to install audio drivers for its audio devices...

The laptop is a toshiba Satellite A200-PSAE6E and everest indicates the following audio controllers:

ATI hd 2xxx hdmi @ ati radeon hd 2600 - controller high definition audio
    Realtek alc268 @ intel 82801hbm ich8m - audio controller high definition

First I tried to download the audio drivers high definition realtek web site (32-bit version of windows xp). I tried to run the installation, manually navigating to WDM file during the installation of the pilot and navigation manually the folders where the drivers have been copied during the installation under c:\windows\system32\... all to nothing done...

Then I tried to download drivers toshiba official of the support web site of europe from toshiba for the realtek chip... I've lived the same behavior (both when you run the Setup program and install manually force pilots)

Then I tried to download the drivers for ATI HDMI audio device from realtek website... with the same results...

Windows tells me that it was impossible to find a driver in the any of the archives...

The only thing that could be the culprit because as far as I can tell, is that I installed service pack 3 RC2...

Any help would be greatly appreciated,
    Tasos

P.S. I've tried the two automatic installation through specification of a folder and choose the options "I will manually choose a driver from the list" in the hardware installation wizard... the result is always the same... Note that the audio works perfectly under ubuntu...

P.S.2 IMPORTANT! I recently discovered that toshiba offers bios versions for the A200 PSAE6E depending on if it is equipped with windows xp or vista...

This refers to which the operating system has been installed when the system was purchased, or the operating system that is currently used? Can I upgrade the Bios of my laptop with the XP version or this break from things?

    Hello

    Regarding the sound issue.
A lot of people already asked for it here on the forum and my knowledge the driver sound doesn't work because that some Member States the fixes and patches are missing.

    Please check this thread:

You will need to install KB888111 and KB835221 hotfix

    With regard to the BIOS;
Yes, some series of laptops needs a version of XP BIOS if you want to install and use the XP on the laptop. AFAIK the A200 is one of these series of laptops.

  • How to control the fan on Portege Z830?

I have a Portege Z830 with BIOS version 1.7 and I am very upset by the noise of the fan.
I was wondering if it is possible to control the fan noise, so I started to experiment with a little utility called SpeedFan. I put in place so that the fan will not turn on until the temperature of the processor exceeds a defined number. But it does not; It seems that the BIOS is ignorant these parameters.

So my question is how can I set the fan to work my way?

There are not many options to control the fan.

The fan is controlled by the BIOS. The fan table that is stored in the BIOS contains information how a cooling module must operate.

As mentioned by Liam, you can change the settings of power plant of Win 7 more battery as a way to minimize the performance of fans
    This should help a little...

In other http://forums.computers.toshiba-europe.com/forums/thread.jspa?threadID=65068 thread, I found a neat trick of the last user... He replaced Z830 fan with the fan of Z930 origin...
    It worked.

  • Control the fan on Satellite Pro 2100

I used to see the analysis of the cpu temp with speedfan, I'd see when the temp (labeled local or remote or temp1, I don't remember.) Maybe 'local').
    reached 50 or 50 >, fan went.

But I can't find that now. The fan still works ' cos I can activate it with speedfan saying speedfan set to 50% or more, then it lights.
(less than 50% it is not lit, or at low speed - I think a constant - it is inaudible).

I would like to know why the fan is not when the temperature reaches 50 > more... When the setting is...
is there a program I can use to do?

    He finds...
you know toshiba replaces the thing of power management with its own thing in toshiba power saver. Toshiba power saver thing had a framework...

    "Cooling method.
    and
    "Intel Speedstep Technology.

Each is adjustable to the Performance, or optimized battery or something.

More course set the method of 'performance' of cooling... If you say 'battery optimized' then I think that the processor gets hot enough.

Whereas, for the technology intel speedstep... I do not remember that I put there, but I guess that optimized battery would make the CPU cooler.

However, I noticed when changing the settings of the more advanced page of toshiba power saver setting processor speed to the lowest, it was extremely slow but still an idle at high temperature, about 50 I think, not so much if any difference there.

I think it was less 0 charge, or charge of 0 to 10. I watch the load with notebook hardware control, speedfan and maybe other programs... However, only was necessary.

  • Satellite A200 - STARTING problems, freezes on the connection of the power adapter

My 3 YO A200 (PSAF3A-08202D has developed a problem with starting.
I can start on battery power with WINDOWS VISTA BUSINESS (after 10 attempts, but freezes immediately when the power adapter is plugged in.)
Display sometimes boots wide-screen, but mostly freezes before windows welcome.

When running, the battery produces about 1 to 2 hours before a complete evacuation.
When executing a battery, computer freezes when I plug Charger AC/DC immediately and going with my A100 charger as an alternative.

Initial problem was a faulty hard drive and super hot air flow due to fluff the cooling block fan.
Tech replaced original 120G HDD with 500 G and reloaded at the factory. works well for 3 months, then started with the same problems so conclude original disk HARD was just a secondary issue.

So maybe fixed I overheated components on the motherboard. Reset of data cards initially fixed a problem starting but is gradually degraded.

Reading through the forums seems that there is a huge amount of these laptops with similar issues. Is this a design flaw, like my other Satellite A100 is solid as a rock. All forums, which suggests resetting the cpu is running slow or be disconnected seem to be temporary repairs. Boot in safe mode and reset the default settings have no effect.

A suggestion that a capacitor is at fault seems to be the fix is valid but which involves specialized tools is not available locally. Local agent of Harvey Norman for Toshiba are best part of unnecessary because they can send in Australia from Toshiba. Machine has been close to $2000 and is now worth Zip.

I am unable to do anything with this machine, as all the ways of upgrading or resetting calls for AC power available and running.

I'm about to do radical things and hope that this forum can enlighten us.

    Hi Mickaël

You might be right. It seems that the motherboard is affected.
Don't know why but higher temperature can still affect the internal parts.
The temperature may increase if cooling fans n t working correctly. For example dust or debris leads to a higher temperature because cooling air cannot circulate properly.

I have to clean my laptop's cooling grilles from time to time using a jet of compressed air. This allows to keep the temperature at the lower level.
Of course the internal temperature is not always a reason for portable computers hardware malfunction equipment can begin to malfunction as always in an other products too: TVs, cars, game consoles

I bought an extended warranty for my laptop, also for my LCD TV mercy always if a high-end product begin to malfunction and in the case of a warranty claim, the fault can be fixed free of charge.

  • Satellite A200-08J: how to configure the command buttons

I read many posts but nothing seems to make sense.

Why Toshiba would put these buttons here if they are so difficult to configure? or not able to be configured?

FYI same Windows Media Player does not meet any of them.

    I use Vista Business 32...

I would like to configure all the 6 buttons next to the button On / Off (internet, media, play/pause, stop, previous/next.

    Thank you...

    Hello

To my knowledge, not all keys are configurable. The buttons like pause, play, stop, etc. cannot be configured with different functions.
    It is not possible.

But you can use the key Toshiba control utility to configure the buttons such as Internet and CD/DVD.
You can find this tool in Toshiba Assist-> optimize

There you can assign new applications to these buttons.

By the way; Satellite A200-08J seems to be a model Canadian that is why it would be desirable and recommended to use the drivers & tools from the Canadian driver page.

  • Satellite A200 PSAE3A - where to find the XP SATA driver

    Hello

I'm going through many discussions here
    (for example, http://forums.computers.toshiba-europe.com/forums/thread.jspa?threadID=25749)

But I can not all drivers referred to work, I lived about three downloads.

I'm working on an A200 PSAE3A - 07M 007, a teacher who have requested to be downgraded to XP so that school software can work on it.

I also looked at the Intel site, trying to find out which Chipset Intel is on this laptop, they said to go into the Device Manager, expand System devices and look for the Intel channel, here is what I found:

    Intel (r) 82801 PCI Bridge - 2448
    Intel(r) 82802 Firmware Hub Device
    Intel(r) ICH8 Family PCI Express Root Port 1 - 283F
    Intel(r) ICH8 Family PCI Express Root Port 2 - 2841
    Intel(r) ICH8 Family PCI Express Root Port 3 - 2843
    Intel(r) ICH8 Family PCI Express Root Port 4 - 2845
    Intel(r) ICH8 Family PCI Express Root Port 5 - 2847
    Intel(r) ICH8 Family SMBus Controller - 283E
    Mobile Intel (r) PM965 / GM965 / GL960 Express Processor to DRAM Controller - 2A 00

As you can see, it's hard to tell which is the right one and find the right driver for the drive SATA is painful.

Anyone here know what I should download to put on my external floppy drive so that when I hit F6 during installation of Xp professional, it will actually fill?

    Help, please!

I wonder really you were not be able to find it.
So let this next logical step:

-Obviously, you have mobile Australian model visit the to THE Toshiba support page and NZ
    -Choose laptop > Satellite A200-(PSAE3A)
-Follow the list with 52 drivers listed, and in the Middle, you'll find some DCIS XP F6 Install Tool

I think this is what you need. Check it out!

  • Possibility to control the fan and the temperature under Linux

    Hi all.

I suspect that my fan has stopped working. My satellite T110 tends to heat more quickly than in the past. After a brief search, I installed lm-sensors, and leave the settings by default yesterday reported temperature was 54 degrees. Today the same tool report processor temperature of 32 ° C when I went away and 50 ° C now, after 32 minutes. I was not be able to check the fan but as far as I can see the fan does not work. I would be really grateful if someone could tell me.

    1. If there is a reliable method to control es Linux pc (or even under windows, I have a system dual boot)
    2. What are the possible limits (non-hazardous)
    3. what could I do to fix my fan? It is easy to replace?
    4. a useful link to get information and support on the subject.

Thanks a lot to you all.
    jabbba

Is that what you found answers?
As you know Toshiba doesn't support Linux and doesn't offer solutions for this.
In my opinion, you should visit some Linux forum and try to find a solution with Linux experts.

  • Satellite A200-1Ai: how to get the digital multimedia card slot to work?

How can I get my slot of multimedia digital maps to work on my Satellite A200 laptop 1Ai?
I tried inserting xD card and it won't read or find the driver software

First: installed all the drivers and so on? It's really important. If you haven't already done so go on the toshiba driver download site and download them.

    Otherwise, follow these instructions:

Go to your control panel and open the administrative tools. After their opening, go to services, then the service 'smart card '. Start and 'activate' service to make your card reader work.

It should help, if not give a few short comments here.

    Welcome them

  • Satellite A200 - 14 d: CPU control method is defined on difficulty under Win XP

    Hello

I have a Toshiba Satellite A200 - 14 d, win XP on it, and I put the CPU: dynamic option in the BIOS (v1.5). PowerSaver is installed and apparently it works, but when I'm on the current, the 'control of the CPU method' is set to 'fix' and I watch the speed of the processor with CPU - Z, it shows which varies between ~ 700 Mhz and 1800 Mhz. But it supposed to be fixed.

This gives also (I think) the cooler being off, when the CPU is not used much, and rotating at high speed, when the processor is used a bit (for example open the workstation...)... then goes out... very annoying...

In the BIOS except "Dynamic" parameters, there is only 'low', which means constantly running on ~ 700 Mhz.

Is it possible to fix this? Thank you.

    Hello

CPU - Z does not for me and to be honest I m not 100% sure that if you get good values using this 3rd party software.

In any case, the conditions of the CPU can be defined in the Toshiba HWSetup!
There is a tab named CPU and you can switch dynamically switchable and always low

In addition, power options of Vista providing some options to configure the method of cooling.
You should find it in power options->-> cooling method and processor power management, advanced settings.

    Best regards

  • Satellite A200-1N7: activity 2, 10 - WIN fan of Bios

    Hi all

I know already what the problem discussed with high activity fan in bios 2.10 - WIN. But I have yet to find any solution.

    Model: A200 1N7
    OS: Windows Vista 32 b

Is a solution how to speed down the fan or reduce the activity of the fan?
TOSHIBA Power saver does not exist for this model and Vista.

Is it possible to downgrade to the previous version of the bios? Where to find it?

    Thank you very much.
    JK.

In my opinion the Toshiba engineers have changed some values in the BIOS and the cooling fan works now often than before. In my opinion, it is not any kind of problem. Maybe we can set it as the type of BIOS update of side effect.

Watch tool exist in Vista too but it is not easy to find because it is not designed as before as Windows XP Home edition. Please check the method of cooling sub - Panel control system & maintenance Power Startup Options? Select a settings change plan Plan to modify the Toshiba Power Saver V.xxx cooling method advanced power settings.

Test it with optimized battery option. I use the same option on my P200 and he cooling fan is much easier. I also use power BALANCED with reduced brightness profile. Try to do the same thing.
