Satellite A200-1TS - get only 117 Mbps on Draft N

Hey there,

I have a Linksys WAG160N (large router).

The problem is here, in my laptop (running on Windows 7), he gets up to 117.00mbps...

But on the other hand, sister of desktop PC (very old haha xD) with an of D-Link USB wireless adapter, he gets up to 320mbps (or 240mbps one of those who do not remember) but way higher than my laptop.

Why?

I really want my laptop by wireless but I want him to have several Mbps wireless-n, that should I do or what is the problem?

Hello

Depends on the speed of transmission of data to the server where the data would be received. This means that your download speed is different. Sometimes it could be higher, and sometimes it might be lower.
In addition, it seems that you share the connection with other computers.
This could affect the speed too.

Finally and above all your OS is not a final version. There are still many bugs.
I put t know if it s related to your Win 7 but nothing is impossible

Cheers mate

    Hello

I have a laptop toshiba Satellite A200-1TS with processor intel core 2 duo T7500 mobile.
Here is my model: http://ark.intel.com/Product.aspx?id=29761&processor=T7500&spec-codes=SLA3N, SLA44, SLADM, SLAF8,.

I want to change the processor with Intel core duo T7800 mobile.
This is the model: http://ark.intel.com/Product.aspx?id=31729&processor=T7800&spec-codes=SLA75, SLAF6

Is it possible to change this?
Because is not a diference betwwen T7500 and T7800.
The only diference is that T7800 has 2, 6 GHz. And my motherboard supports any other procesors as T8XXX or T9XXX?

    Thank you

Why do you want to upgrade?
Only due to the fact that the new processor takes in charge the 2.6 Ghz instead of 2.2 Ghz?

To be honest, you will notice no no performance gain after these updates.
Of course, the processor is faster, but would not really noticeable.

In addition, you should know that a CPU upgrade on laptop is very complicated.
First disassembly of the laptop is really complicated. It may be damaged other parts during disassembly procedure and more, you will lose the warranty.

Theoretically, this processor should be compatible, but as much as I know the Toshiba does not support updates and there could be a conflict of BIOS.

So I would not recommend these updates.

PS: Check your chipset and look at the Intel page for more information about the various CPU media.

  • Satellite A200-1TS - question on the frequency of the DRAM

    Hello

I have the Satellite A200-1TS with bios vista x 64 vers.2.60 and I upgraded the RAM with (slot 1 and slot 2) each module 2 GB 800 MHz, and work, but the cpu - z program is detect the TIMINGS TABLE frequency is what is good for 800 MHz to 400 MHz, but the DRAM frequency is always working with 332,5 MHz (667 mhz).

What is the problem? Can I do something to work at 400 MHz?

    Hello

I think that the RAM works on 333 MHz because it s always according to the FSB of the processor.
It seems therefore that the CPU has a 333 MHz FSB and RAM also runs on this speed.

If you have any other questions, please let us know! :)

  • Satellite A200 plays not only will not play DVD

I'm a first time user on this forum so Hello to everyone.

My problem is that my Satellite A200 of (duration Vista) won't play DVD. When I try I get the following message: "Windows Media Player cannot play video DVDs. You may need to adjust your Windows display settings. Open display settings in Control Panel, and then try to lower your screen resolution and color quality settings. Needless to say, I've played a bit with the appropriate settings and there was no change in the situation. In a response published in another forum, someone suggested that I ditch Windows Media Player in favor of something better. I thought that the alternative program, he has proposed would be free, but it wasn't. In any case, I tried to play the DVD with other programs and received the same basic message. Is not a thing of Windows Media Player, it's a thing of DVD playback. In addition, it does not matter if WMP isn't the BEST DVD player - I just want to play DVD! I wrote to one of support from Microsoft customer care and they wrote in saying that it wasn't their problem. They consider it a "question of material". I don't buy that.

Just a bit of history - I bought the computer second hand a good friend. Now, I don't ever remember playing a DVD on the computer, which somewhat confuses things for the following reasons. Just after I bought the computer, which is running Vista, I installed MP3 player software which has expressed its disagreement with the CD/DVD drive drivers. What I think is a quite common problem. This time Microsoft representatives were happy to help me and told me to delete two lines of registry keys. That fixed the problem to a certain extent, because now the reader a) still existed and b) could read and play CDs. But when I tried to play a DVD I got the above message.

So as I said, I never even remember reading a DVD on the drive, I don't know if the problems are related to the problem of shock of MP3 software, although it seems unlikely that they are related. Finally, the computer has been less than a year when I bought it and in all other respects, it has been very well (unbearable slowness of Vista by derogation). Unfortunately the extended warranty is now sold out so I hope this isn't a hardware problem. The fact is that, given that I've never even played a DVD on this thing, and he plays the CD without any problem (in addition, the drive can READ DVD, he can tell me all the chapters that are on a DVD and play the files that he - she won't just play movies), I don't think it's material. I think that there is a current bug.

If someone could shed some light on this matter, I would be eternally grateful!

    Hi mate

I m using the VLC Player as well.
I m totally happy! It s for free, it s small, don t need a lot of material resources and manages almost all file formats.
    That s awesome!

I totally agree with you. VLC Player is more than recommended!

  • Satellite A200-1TS (PSAE6E) freezes

    Hello world

First of all, my English is very bad, so I hope someone can understand me. In any case thanks for the effort.

I have a Toshiba A200-1TS I bought 10 months ago. I have two problems that I don't know how to solve. One of the problems is that Vista SP1 starts very slowly, it takes about 4-5 minutes before I can use any program. I have a long startup list, but many of these startup applications come from drivers Toshiba so I guess they can't be disabled. Here is the list I have...

    http://www.imageflux.NET/ver.php?v=774738startup.jpg

As you can see, I added 3 applications, Comodo Firewall, Antivir Personal Edition and Driver printer HP4380. I installed these applications on my other computer and I don't think they are the reason for the slow start. The boot process is fast until I see the office, then the volume, network and battery icons are loaded, and after that I have to wait 2 minutes see the Comodo or Antirvirus icon...

I am very disappointed with that because my computer have never started quickly (my sister has a computer with a slower processor (NOT T7500) and does not have these problems). After 10 minutes of my Toshiba becomes what it takes 'Ferrari' (sorry jeje).

The second problem is more serious. I can't use any of the Fn keys(F1-F12) because my computer hangs when I press the fn (the one which is near the CTRL key). I noticed this problem two months ago (my work leaves me not a lot of time to solve this problem) and I decide to reinstall with the CD of factory two weeks ago.

Everything was fine, I use no problem for 3 three days and after a Windows Update, I noticed the problem again. Then I formatted my HARD drive and I installed a clean Windows Vista SP1 version (thinking that might be a problem of Factory Settings CD so I spent money for nothing), I installed the drivers from the website of toshiba europe, everything seemed OK, but once again after a Windows Update, I can not push FN key because my computer crashes.

I don't know if it could be a Windows problem. Yesterday when I went to sleep, worked the keys Fn and hardware configuration. I accept the updates of windows and does not check after the process.

Today, the computer crashes when I try to load the installer of equipment, or when I press the FN key, so can't change brightness, turn off the touchpad or use the zoom utility (use of flash-cards with the mouse is OK, but I prefer to use the FN keys).

    Thank you in advance.

    Hello

I also put t that this could be a hardware problem, due to the fact that your machine and the FN keys worked properly after installing new Toshiba DVD recovery.

I recommend you to download the new VAP Toshiba Toshiba European pilot page and reinstall.
You need to remove the old VAP first. Then clean the BONES and the registry using the CCleaner (it the free tool) and after a reboot reinstalled the VAP.

  • Satellite A200 - 1JS PSAE6: only stereo sound using HDMI - why?

    Hello

I have an A200-1JS (PSAE6) with a HDMI and HD DVD player.
I connect my A200 to a LCD screen with an HDMI cable and its ok. Good picture and sound.

BUT, when I want to see a movie (without using the HD DVD player) with a surround sound (5.1) the only thing that I get stereo sound coming out of the HDMI.
I went to the control panel realtek option and in the HDMI output and I can only choose stereo.

So my question is: its possible to get more audio channels (5.1) of the HDMI cable and if so, what should I do to play a movie with surround sound via HDMI?

    Best regards

    Pedro

    Hello

As far as I know is not possible. HDMI cable offers transfer better video/audio signals to your TV and you can watch movies in best quality.

For sound 5.1, you need port optical audio output, and according to the specifications of the laptop, this port is not available.

    Thank you very much
    Sasch

    Hello

The 32-bit of Windows XP manages 3.2 GB of RAM max.
3.2 GB of RAM are only possible due to the limitation of the 32 bit OS.

The ATI graphics card supports dedicated video memory and he shares part of the main memory too.
But look, man. everything is controlled automatically. This means that the graphics card driver assigns parts of memory needed.
If memory is not necessary the graphics card driver assigns not all memory main room in memory of the graphics card.

    Welcome them

  • Satellite A200-10W recognize only 3 GB instead of 4 GB of RAM

2 years ago, I bought the laptop Toshiba A200-10w.
He had 1 GB of memory installed (at the time, the seller said that ram can be expandable to 4 GB).

Recently, I bought RAM 2x2gb modules.
When I installed the modules I had to update the update of the BIOS-Windows X, to recognize all the ram installed, but during POST only 3071 MB of RAM is checked (even though the main BIOS screen lists that 4096 Mb is installed).

Even if I use FreeBSD 64-bit operating system I can only access 3071 MB of RAM.
Is there a solution to this problem?

    Hello

To access the full 4 GB of RAM as the three components; Operating system and BIOS of the Chipset must support 4 GB of RAM.

If one of these parts does not support the 4 GB of RAM then your laptop will not handle and will not recognize the full 4 GB of RAM.

Check your chipset and look into the details to the Intel page.
There, you can find an info if your chipset is capable of 4 GB.

  • Satellite A200-1TS - "D" key is broken

    Hey,.

My "D" key does not work properly I push VERY, VERY hard. I feel there is a dirt inside probably coz sometimes it works, but not too often.

Any way to remove the key one then replace?

    Thank you!

    > 1. If I replace this broken for the new, I'll lose warranty?
Withdrawal of the laptop parts (with the exception of the upgrade of RAM and HARD drive) will affect the warranty, and Yes, you will lose the warranty.

So in your case, I recommend you contact ASP (certified partner) in your country for assistance.
Usually guys should fix it for free if the warranty is valid.

I think it worth a try to get in touch with the guys, they should be able to provide more details

  • Satellite A200: games play only in the center of the screen

    Hello

    Can someone help me.
We use Vista and educational games to my son only play in the central panel of the screen.

    How to enlarge?
I have change the compatibility mode, without success.
Games worked on our another computer with vista, so it's something to do with the settings of Toshiba.

    Any suggestions?

    Teena

    Hello

Generally, the game settings supports certain options that should allow you to stretch the display mode.

You need to look something like: mode full-screen.
Also try to set the display on a lower resolution.
After you have reset the screen resolution in Windows, set the game to use the same resolution that is currently used in Windows.

Your comments would be very appreciated you...

  • Gigabit connection by getting only 100 Mbps

I just upgraded a 100 Mbps switch to a 1Gbps switch and 1 of my 2 pcs shows a gigabit connection, but the other shows 100 Mbps. Both are on auto negotiate. If I pass the 100 Mbps, one Gigabit full duplex he says cable unplugged network. This is probably the network adapter that is integrated into the issue of the card, switch or cable? Thank you.

You need at least a gigabit network CAT5e network cable.

Is the cable CAT5e or CAT6?

  • Satellite A200-1TS and Windows XP installation

    Hey,.

Last Christmas, I bought this laptop GREAT, I'm very happy with it so far, but im tired of Windows Vista does not work for some OLD games I have. I tried to install Windows XP (Original CD) but it does not detect my hard drive.

How I could still it? :(

This problem is described, I suppose, since Vista is on the market, about 1000 times.
Use the advanced search option, you can find a great number of discussions with the exact description what you need for the installation of Windows XP Home edition.

The HARD drive is not visible due to lack of driver SATA to be installed initially using the F6 key. For installing WXP using Windows XP SP2 home edition.

You can find it on the Toshiba support page. Choose your model of laptop (PSAE6E) please and download the Storage Manager. In the download file, you will find the F6flpy folder and inside this folder, you must ICH7M or ICH8M. For 32-bit, of course.

In order to check it please this document http://aps2.toshiba-tro.de/kb0/TSB8602DB0001R01.htm
    Everything is explained there.

If you have any other questions please let us know.
