Satellite A200-21dts: 64-bit Windows recognizes only 3 GB instead of 4 GB of RAM

Hello!

I have an A200 21 T with windows 7 (ultimate * 64) install.
My problem is that windows takes only 3 GB! How to 'use' the ram?

Go safety start-Control Panel of configuration-system-configuration-boot system Administrative Tools - Advanced options
Make sure the maximum memory of the option is not checked. If it is checked, uncheck, press on apply, Ok and restart.

  • Satellite A200-10W recognize only 3 GB instead of 4 GB of RAM

2 years ago, I bought the laptop Toshiba A200-10w.
He had 1 GB of memory installed (at the time, the seller said that ram can be expandable to 4 GB).

Recently, I bought RAM 2x2gb modules.
When I installed the modules I had to update the update of the BIOS-Windows X, to recognize all the ram installed, but during POST only 3071 MB of RAM is checked (even though the main BIOS screen lists that 4096 Mb is installed).

Even if I use FreeBSD 64-bit operating system I can only access 3071 MB of RAM.
Is there a solution to this problem?

    Hello

To access the full 4 GB of RAM as the three components; Operating system and BIOS of the Chipset must support 4 GB of RAM.

If one of these parts does not support the 4 GB of RAM then your laptop will not handle and will not recognize the full 4 GB of RAM.

Check your chipset and look into the details to the Intel page.
There, you can find an info if your chipset is capable of 4 GB.

  • Satellite A200-1YO - problems installing Windows XP Home edition

    Hi guys,.

First of all I'm new here so Hello to everyone here and I hope you can help me with my problems of software.

I recently bought a laptop model Toshiba Satellite A200-1YO provided with windows vista (which must be frank, pants and IMO too demanding for the machine) and I have a problem with vista, because some of its features do not seem to work, for example, I'm having a lot of trouble getting some of the webpages to open now, they simply hang out.

now, I didn't install windows xp but I don't have an external floppy drive. This is not a problem but because I can use Nlite to integrate the drivers in a new ISO of Windows XP.

The problem is that I have 4 sets of drivers: ICH7M_32bit, ICH7M_64bit, ICH8M_32bit and ICH8M_64bit. As I install Windows XP 32-bit while I'm more or less some that I have not need 64-bit drivers but when I install Windows XP by using the modified version of windows xp slipstreamed, what I get at startup is a BSD error telling me that something has crashed on my hard drive , however I can't say which crashed as the screen disappears after 15 seconds if that so I guess there is something wrong with the drivers I use (though I must admit that I'm not sure the drivers 32-bit to use)

advice and assistance regarding being able to install windows xp would be welcome, as I said above, however, I can only use Nlite since I do not have a usb floppy drive.

Satellite A200-1YO has a chip with the ICH8M southbridge Intel GM965.

So you need the driver for SATA ICH8M_32bit.

  • 10 32-bit Windows uses only 3 GB of RAM, despite a higher setting in VMware

I just created a 32-bit Windows 10 virtual machine fees. No matter how I put the memory in VMware settings, Windows 10 reports that 3 GB of RAM.

Why is configured for 4 GB of RAM?

Here are the steps I took:

    * I've created and activated a new Windows 7 32 - bit (pre - SP1) since an installation DVD. This Windows 7 original had material v11, 2 hearts, and 2048 MB of RAM in VMware settings.

    * I mounted the ISO image of CD / DVD of Windows 32-bit and run 10 the installer of Windows 7. I did a "clean install" (do not store data, applications, etc.).

    * I updated Windows 10 entirely and the VMware Tools installed.

    * I changed the setting from memory several times to 6144 and 8192 MB, but nothing has changed.

    * I also changed hardware v12 and changed the type of operating system from Windows 7 to Windows 10.

Despite the changes, 10 (32-bit) Windows reports only 3 GB of physical memory. I checked systeminfo (3071 MB), System-> settings (3.00 GB) and several other sources, and they are all auto-coherent to 3 GB.

The Configuration of the system, advanced STARTUP Options, memory Maximum box is unchecked (disabled).

    Any ideas?

Please take a look at VMware KB https://kb.vmware.com/kb/1014006 which explains the 3 072 MB limit, i.e. the reserve of memory of 1 024 MB.

    Article:

PC architecture reserves a part of the address space that is less than 4 GB for PCI devices. This space cannot be used for system memory. Note also that this is one of the main reasons for clients not to recognize that all assigned physical memory.

  • Satellite A200-21dts CD/DVD drive with a Blu - ray drive replacement

    Hello

    I have a laptop Satellite A200-21dts supplied with the mat * a UJ-850 drive.

My original disk no longer works...
I plan to buy a new one, but I wish that whoever has a buit in the Blu - ray dvd player.

I've heard that not all players are working with Toshiba laptops, so I would like a little help to find a bluray player that would work with my laptop.

    Two readers caught my attention:
the Panasonic UJ - 120 and the Sony BC 5500 has.

    These drivers work with Toshibas?
    Anyone have another suggestion?

Thank you much for the help!

    Hello

    > These drivers work with Toshibas?
I think you will have to test it yourself.
As much as I know Toshiba didn t nothing said about Blueray players compatible Satellite A200.

The fact is that not all readers are compatible due to different master/slave/c-salt settings.
With the help of ODD is not compatible you will get an IDE #1 error and the drive will not be recognized by the BIOS.

But I've read here in the forum that some guy managed to upgrade own Toshiba units with a blue ray player
So I m thinking you've got a good opportunity to update.

  • Satellite A200-1AD - downgrade from Windows XP Home edition

I've read all the other different threads around the upgrade/downgrade to XP, but I have a few questions.

    1. What do I need to change the BIOS before I start to replace Vista by XP or can I wait until I loaded the base XP and then make the BIOS change?

    2. If I try and update the BIOS for XP and it crunches the laptop is covered by the warranty?

If the 2 answer is Yes, then I'll save a step by step process that I do to change the operating system from Vista to XP. Any help much appreciated.

    Hello Ken

All I know is some BIOS designed for Windows XP Home edition for computer series laptop Satellite A200. I installed Windows XP Home edition on my A200 but some FN keys do not work properly. Other stuff works well and WXP turns quite quickly.

I recommend installing WXP without updated BIOS to see if there is a serious problem. If this is not the case, leave such BIOS what.

    Hello

to be honest, this problem is one of the most annoying problem as the failure of Bios in this forum.

    > BIOS see 3 GB (BIOS available on the toshiba Web site is for win XP and Vista only)

I think that problem is in the Bios, it does not recognize the 4 GB, but only 3 GB.

  • Satellite Pro A200 - shows only 3 GB instead of 4 GB of RAM

    Hello

2 years ago I had a Satellite Pro A200 as a professional laptop and it works with XP SP2, later with SP3. With 2 GB, it shows 2 GB memory in Windows - and I know it's a Radeon 7500 with 256 MB memory graphics individual, and there is no shared memory.

I upgraded to 4 GB, but Windows shows exactly 3 GB. BIOS shows 4 GB and ATI system monitor shows 4 GB. I know that 4 GB is not possible under XP 32-bit, only on Windows 2003 R2 32 bit or Vista - but on desktop systems, I've seen values between 3.3 and 3.7 GB.

So, where's the memory? It looks like a bug - the chips of memory have two 2 GB I checked this. Because it's a company laptop I can not just switch to 64-bit XP :-(

There's no option in the BIOS - first I thought that it is the graphics card, but mine has independent graphics with own memory so that the computer comes up with MB 2048 or 4096 after the upgrade.

Shared memory would show about 1900 MB of RAM for the operating system as my private EEEpc.

    Hi shadowmaster_1,

    > I know that 4 GB is not possible under XP 32 bit
Then why do you ask this question here if you already know? Moreover, it s not a limitation in XP, it s a material limitation on all 32-bit systems

    > only on Windows 2003 R2 32 bit or Vista
And who says that Windows 2003 or Vista can use 4 GB? Okay, there's an update for Vista where 4 GB correct displayed in system properties, but that doesn't make no difference. Vista 32 bit peut t use all of 4GB, it s only cosmetic improvements! ;)

    > So where is memory?
Memory is installed on your computer, but can t be used complelty with a 32 bit OS.

At the end of the story: If you want to use 4 GB, you need to install a 64 bit OS. On all the 32 bit OS, you can use only upward to ~3.2GB RAM!

  • Satellite A200 restarts continuously after Windows update

    Hey all,.

The model Satellite A200 - 1 GB (PSAE6E) worked perfectly for two years now (with Vista 32-bit).
Since running windows update yesterday and restart, the laptop summer stuck in a reboot loop, restart immediately after the 'POST' (the Toshiba logo, etc) screen with a flash of blue screen.
Holding F8 to read the message, it says INACCESSIBLE_BOOT_DEVICE (0x000007B)...
Try to restore to a point before the blackout failed for an unknown reason (gave an error).
Search in Google gave a possible cause - maybe the hard disk driver was changed by an incompatible type. There were some suggestions to turn off the AHCI in the bios, but it doesn't have this option.
The bios was not updated since purchase (this is version 1.4), but I can't update because it seems that the only update provided by Toshiba requires windows.

Someone has any idea how to fix the computer without having to reinstall windows? No matter what?

    Thanks in advance,
    Ofir

    Hello

I doubt that it could be a hardware error (my personal opinion) but nothing is impossible, that you know
The fact is that a BSOD can be caused by hardware error, but also a serious software problem
In my opinion, something went wrong during the update

If you are not able to boot the operating system even by using a safe mode then a new install of the OS would be the last chance to get this sort problem

I think you should try a new installation to see if this could be a hardware problem because there is a small remnant of risk that this could be a hardware problem

  • Satellite C55-B1079 - 32-bit Windows 8 drivers needed

How can I download drivers for windows 8 (X 86)

    TNX

There is no 32-bit drivers of Windows 8 for Satellite C55-B1079 PSKTWV-01D00LAR

On the page of the Toshiba UE driver you can find drivers for 64-bit Windows 8.1.

I recommend the use of 64-bit Windows 8.1 system because 64-bit recognizes more than 3.2 GB of RAM

  • Re: Satellite A200: Question about the Windows Vista serial key

I have a Toshiba Satellite A200 and I doubt, in everest, I can see the key of Windows Vista, but it's different to the Windows key in the tile to the bottom of the laptop.
I change anything in the laptop because I bought, I have use once the recovery cd, but I have not a pirate key or something like that.

    Why this different key?

    Post edited by: Admin

I agree with the user above.
The serial key you will find at the bottom of the device is not similar to the serial key that can be read using a few 3rd party applications!

But you don t need such series on your Toshiba laptop key.
The restore CD contains an image of Toshiba which is already activated!

  • Satellite A200-1js: I can burn DVDs only at 4 x

    Hello people.

My of my Satellite A200-1js dvd rom is not working very well. When I try to burn, a dvd is only recording at 4 x.
But I want more speed because the original dvd are 16 x and it can operate at this speed.

    A firmware update fix this?

If yes how can I do this?

    Thnkx

As far as I know burning and playback speed depends on the material (CD/DVD drive). Looks like your CD/DVD drive can burn to DVD at 4 X max.

    > A firmware update fix this?
Don t think so; first an update is not available, and second, the material is not able to burn faster.

By the way; I burn my DVD still at 1 x because the quality is much better and more DVD players can read burned environment!
