Satellite A200 - no visible CD/DVD drive in the BIOS & workstation

Hi all!

I have this problem.
I downgraded from Win Vista to XP.
First, everything was working fine, now after reinstallation, I discovered my DVD ROM is not in my computer, not even in the bios.

Also does not work when I try to reinstall the system (boot from cd drive is not found).
It is possible to open my CD Rom, is light flashing everything looks just ok I can't use it.
I would say that I need drivers for the cdrom or whatever, I don't really know.

I was looking at this forum all night, until now. Please help me with this, it's URGENT. I was trying to install a lots different drivers, nothing has worked.

Please someone contact me here or at the [email protected] as soon as possible.
Thank you so much everyone.
PS Sorry for my bad English I hope you understood my problem well.

Enter the BIOS, the default settings and check again.
CD/DVD drive is listed as boot device when you press F12 at the beginning upward?

    Hello
I have a Satellite A200 - 1 2 and I can not see the SATA HDD in bios, or start. I checked if the hard drive has the power and he has some, any other ideas?

Hmm, you say that it does not appear in the BIOS?
Try to start the A200 and check the operating system device manager.
The HARD drive should be listed.

By the way; I have a laptop with a SATA HDD too and in the BIOS homepage appears only as Toshiba MK1637GSX HARD drive name. Nothing mentioned about SATA.

I imagine that the same details appear in the BIOS you.

So I tried to install my old windows XP Professional sp2. Here's the problem:

During installation, Xp procres say there is no hard drive.
Hmm, I thought I should have a look on other forums. There, they said to integrate a sata driver on the xp cd.
But I don't understand the using nLite to use.

Could you show me how I had to reinstall my old XP?

    Hello

The nLite is a freeware program that helps you to integrate the SATA (Intel matrix Storage Manager) driver in the original XP operating system.

If you want to know how to use nLite software, then glasses a bit.
There are many websites that explain how to use nLite.

(Driver SATA) Intel Storage Manager can be downloaded from the Toshiba driver page.

Last month, I created a new XP CD using the nLite.
I've included a few pilots, SP2 and some patches it of really not very difficult.

As I said... Scope of protection is a key ;)

  • Satellite A200-1vp with Vista - code 39 of the CD/DVD drive failure

    Hello

I was burning and watch DVDs on my Satellite A200 - 1 VP, with vista, since February, the last time I burned anything was a couple of weeks.

Suddenly, there is a problem, no response when I insert a disc and my divx player says me no recorder found.

When I am looking in the Device Manager I get the message 'windows cannot load the driver for this hardware' (code 39) "driver is damaged or missing.

I tried to uninstall it and using the limit filter upper/lower of Toshiba, repair tool but on restart it still cannot install.

Should I try the Toshiba Recovery Disc and lose a lot of that programs/files, as a last resort?
    Would this work?
    Anyone have any ideas?

Here's an interesting article from Microsoft Knowledge:
    http://support.Microsoft.com/kb/270008/en-us

You must first access the Device Manager and should remove the reader of CD/DVD from the list of devices.
Then should access the registry and delete the Upperfilters and Lowerfilters completely from the following registry key values:
    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Contro l\Class\ {4D36E965-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318}

Reboot the laptop and check if the CD/DVD drive would work again!

  • Satellite A200 - 23P - mechanic of DVD - rom does not

I'm sorry for my English in advance this topic! -Thank you

I have a very big problem with my engraver of DVD (RM).
    I bought SAT A200 - 23P three weeks ago.
The Win VISTA operating system has been installed. DVD - rom worked well.

If I have installed Win XP to the second partition on my HARD drive (to install the disk with driver for sata drive in nlite) and installed all the drivers and utilities for Toshiba laptop, I found that my DVD-rom is not working while I press eject button.

Mechanic of DVD is not responding to eject in XP and not even in the BIOS!
It is interesting, mechanic DVD is the detection in BIOS, detects in XP, XP operating system votes - mechanic to the DVD works properly - its fable.

However, if I have installed XP on the second partition, Win Vista does not load :(
I don't have a second chance for second selection (Vista and XP).
I now have XP only, even if Vista is on the first partition - I didn't delete it.

Do you think that the DVD-rom is HW or SW problem?
I think that, given that the DVD-rom does not in the BIOS - HW error.

But is very strange, if I install XP from mechanic to the DVD and then close is, DVD - rom does not...:)

If I manually open and insert the CD, the DVD does not (diode led no blink, just if I turn off the computer, led blinked once).

    PLS help me someone-

    Thank you!

    Hi Michal

Your question is very strange, I mean the number of CD/DVD drive

The fact is that the readers of CD/DVD eject function functions should any operating system has been installed on your laptop. It has nothing to do with your software on the HARD drive.

So I wonder why the eject button works with Vista and not XP preinstalled OS?  :|

My only plausible explanation is that sometimes there is a bad connection between the laptop and the drive. However the problem could be related to the hardware problem too

As you see it s not easy to say what's wrong exactly, we can only speculate.

Now some details about your installation of OS double.

You cannot choose between Windows XP and Vista because Vista boot manager was obliterated during the installation of Win XP.
This happened to me also. I installed Win XP on my Satellite and could not start Vista.

The solution was simple; I used another original DVD of Vista (from my friend) and booted from this DVD. Vista has renewed the Boot Manager, and then I was able to boot Vista.

Then I downloaded the tool called Easy BCD.
This tool can change the Vista Boot Manager settings. I've edited and inserted a new Windwos XP OS entry.

    That s it!

  • Satellite A200 PSAF3A - ccreen goes black after installing the graphics driver

    Hello.

I have a Toshiba Satellite A200 which has the video adapter Mobile Intel (r) 965 Express Chipset Family (256 MB).

I bought my computer in Australia and is the SATELLITE A200 (PSAF3A-08202D) with Windows XP.
The computer began to be very slow, and since I had a lot of programs that I wanted more I restored it to the out of the box.

The problem is that the screen went black after the windows logo. He worked only in safe mode. I deleted the drivers of graphics cards and it works but without a graphics card.

Now, I can't play games or watch movies.
Whenever I try to install the driver, no matter if its from the cd that came with the computer, the toshiba Web page or the Web site intel it still restarts black screen.

I tried to disable the adapter instead of uninstall. When I enable it, she accepts and he will say his work but just with screen resolution of 640 x 480.

If I try to put it above it is always black.
    Can someone help me?

    Thank you very much

    Hello

First of all, you should visit this Australian page from Toshiba:
    http://www.ISD.Toshiba.com.au
You will find all the drivers for this model of laptop.

I checked and found that there is a BIOS v2.5.
Check if the BIOS needs to be updated (if the older BIOS is installed)

In addition, there is a display driver v14.29.1.4833 and chipset driver v8.2.0.1012
    Install it!

Last but not least the Win XP should be updated to the latest state!

    What should I do?

    Thanks in advance

    Hello

This problem is known to me and she related to the incorrect registry key.

First, you must remove the drive CD/DVD from the list of devices in Device Manager.
Then, you should access the registry and should remove the Upperfilters and Lowerfilters completely from the following registry key values:
    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Contro l\Class\ {4D36E965-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318}

Finally, restart the laptop and check the drive after Vista acknowledged again.

  • Loss of CD/DVD driver on the upgrade to Windows 10

I have a gateway all-in-One ZX4270 model which I updated from Windows 8.1 to 10.  Everything is OK except that I apparently lost my CD/DVD drive in the process.  He is still physically there, and he turns a drive when it is inserted, but the computer does not recognize the drive.  It is not shown on the file Explorer.   Based on the advice of the Microsoft forum, I first run the troubleshooter (no effect) and then uninstalled the driver in the Device Manager and rebooted, but no new driver has been installed.  I looked on the Acer website for a new driver to download, but none seem to be included.  Any help or ideas would be appreciated.

I'm sorry but I'm out of ideas.  I don't know if the registry change will help or cause problems.

I might even consider buying an external DVD and then plug it into a USB port.

My computer windows 8 HP Pavillion M8100n does not recognize the DVD drive or the SD card reader.  I have just upgraded to Windows 8 of Window Vista. Do you have any suggestions?

    Hello

I see nothing unusual, except that there should be a "0001", or even "0002"...

When you have made the registry change, you used the command line (Admin)?... the process may not work with the regular command prompt...

Also, try to go to Device Manager, right click on your DVD drive, click on uninstall and restart.
