Satellite A200 PSAECE - fan of Windows 7 (& BIOS)

Dear community,

I installed the latest version of BIOS Toshiba offers for Windows Vista (v.1.80 21/08/07) and I'm running on Windows 7 on a Satellite A200 PSAECE.

The fan is very VERY strong. I've heard talk of a solution would be to return to a previous version of the BIOS but I can't find it anywhere.

No indication of how to proceed? Something must be done about it, cannot even bring the laptop to the cause of the library of people complain. (The fan was MUCH less noisy before...)

Thank you!

G.

Hello

Go to the Windows 7 power management and change the settings of the most friendly battery.
There should also be an option that decrease the performance of the processor, and this could slow down the cooling performance.

Welcome them

  • Satellite A200-PSAECE: need W - Lan driver WinXP

    Hello

I have the Satellite A200-PSAECE. I downgraded it from Vista to XP. Also I updated the BIOS for XP and then reinstalled Windows XP and now my wireless network does not work, even in the card reader.

I tried to install the atheros wireless lan driver, but the system said that there is no connected equipment (switch is on). I don't know what to do now. It would be great if someone could help me.

    Hello

Some units of the Satellite A200-PSAECE series were equipped with the Intel WLan card and some portable computers support the Atheros card.
If the driver Atheros didn t work, then your wireless network card must be an Intel card and you must use the Intel driver.

The two pilots; Intel and Atheros is on the page of Toshiba.

Just follow the path mentioned by InvaderZim.

In addition, the BIOS must be updated to version XP.

  • Satellite A200-1AD - downgrade from Windows XP Home edition

I've read all the other different threads around the upgrade/downgrade to XP, but I have a few questions.

    1. What do I need to change the BIOS before I start to replace Vista by XP or can I wait until I loaded the base XP and then make the BIOS change?

    2. If I try and update the BIOS for XP and it crunches the laptop is covered by the warranty?

If the 2 answer is Yes, then I'll save a step by step process that I do to change the operating system from Vista to XP. Any help much appreciated.

    Hello Ken

All I know is some BIOS designed for Windows XP Home edition for computer series laptop Satellite A200. I installed Windows XP Home edition on my A200 but some FN keys do not work properly. Other stuff works well and WXP turns quite quickly.

I recommend installing WXP without updated BIOS to see if there is a serious problem. If this is not the case, leave such BIOS what.

  • Satellite A200-1YO - problems installing Windows XP Home edition

    Hi guys,.

First of all I'm new here so Hello to everyone here and I hope you can help me with my problems of software.

I recently bought a laptop model Toshiba Satellite A200-1YO provided with windows vista (which must be frank, pants and IMO too demanding for the machine) and I have a problem with vista, because some of its features do not seem to work, for example, I'm having a lot of trouble getting some of the webpages to open now, they simply hang out.

now, I didn't install windows xp but I don't have an external floppy drive. This is not a problem but because I can use Nlite to integrate the drivers in a new ISO of Windows XP.

The problem is that I have 4 sets of drivers: ICH7M_32bit, ICH7M_64bit, ICH8M_32bit and ICH8M_64bit. As I install Windows XP 32-bit while I'm more or less some that I have not need 64-bit drivers but when I install Windows XP by using the modified version of windows xp slipstreamed, what I get at startup is a BSD error telling me that something has crashed on my hard drive , however I can't say which crashed as the screen disappears after 15 seconds if that so I guess there is something wrong with the drivers I use (though I must admit that I'm not sure the drivers 32-bit to use)

advice and assistance regarding being able to install windows xp would be welcome, as I said above, however, I can only use Nlite since I do not have a usb floppy drive.

Satellite A200-1YO has a chip with the ICH8M southbridge Intel GM965.

So you need the driver for SATA ICH8M_32bit.

  • Satellite A200-1DN - the update of the BIOS for Windows 7

I am running 32-bit Windows 7 on a Satellite A200 1DN. I had battery problems (plugged in, does not support) and I understand that I have to update my BIOS. However I can't find an update of the BIOS for Windows 7, only Vista and XP.

Can anyone help? I should update with the BIOS in Vista? Are there other options to fix this battery? I already tried an ATX reset and uninstall method battery Microsoft ACPI compatible controls.

Any advice would be much appreciated.

    Thank you
    Ian

Theoretically, you can install Windows Vista to update Bios and return Win 7, then. Before you do, try this:

Unplug the computer from the power adapter and turn it on. Let the computer battery power until the computer turns off
Remove the battery. Using a soft cloth, wipe the battery packs connectors and AC adapters.
Reinsert the battery and plug it into the power adapter

    > I tried an ATX reset and uninstall method battery Microsoft ACPI compatible controls.

also, have you had the same problem before installing Win 7?

  • Re: Question on Satellite A200-1SX fan

    Hey everybody.
I recently bought a Satellite A200-1SX and I noticed that the fan is running constantly for about 5 seconds then turns off.
Does anyone have any ideas why this is happening? Is this normal? Is there a software that can help me?

    Thanks to a bouquet.

    Hi mate,

already tried a BIOS update? It would probably help, but I can't promise you...
To download the latest version of the BIOS on the Toshiba site just go here-> http://eu.computers.toshiba-europe.com/cgi-bin/ToshibaCSG/jsp/home.do?service=EU&from=http%3A//www.toshiba-europe.com/

and join the drivers download section is you just have to go to "Support and downloads"-> 'Support Home Page'-> ' download - download drivers ' and choose your machine and the desired driver/tool. (In your case the BIOS updated)

Another option would be to modify the powersaver, so that the won´t FAN turn all the time. You can keep your machine much quieter by choosing parameters of performance lower (I think that the low performance shouldn´t be recognizable during 'normal' work) which translates (or should) in less than rotation of the FAN.

Just check it out by clicking on 'Toshiba Powersaver' in the 'Control Panel'.

  • Satellite A200 (PSAE6) - RAM on Windows 7 32 bit upgrade

I have a Satellite A200 (PSAE6) and I wanted to put more 2 GB of RAM, but tell me the Windows 7 Ultimate 32 recognizes only 1 GB means a total of 3 GB.

    Is this true?

    Hello

Usually the OS 32-bit Windows recognizes ONLY 3.2 GB of RAM due to the limitation of the 32 bit OS.
Therefore, you cannot use 4 GB of RAM with Windows OS 32-bit (Win XP, Vista, Win 7).

But the upgrade to 4 GB RAM also depends on the chipset and BIOS.
If both parties (BIOS and chipset) are not 4 GB RAM capable then you would not be able to use 4 GB of RAM, even using the 64 bit OS.

  • Satellite A200 restarts continuously after Windows update

    Hey all,.

The model Satellite A200 - 1 GB (PSAE6E) worked perfectly for two years now (with Vista 32-bit).
Since running windows update yesterday and restart, the laptop summer stuck in a reboot loop, restart immediately after the 'POST' (the Toshiba logo, etc) screen with a flash of blue screen.
Holding F8 to read the message, it says INACCESSIBLE_BOOT_DEVICE (0x000007B)...
Try to restore to a point before the blackout failed for an unknown reason (gave an error).
Search in Google gave a possible cause - maybe the hard disk driver was changed by an incompatible type. There were some suggestions to turn off the AHCI in the bios, but it doesn't have this option.
The bios was not updated since purchase (this is version 1.4), but I can't update because it seems that the only update provided by Toshiba requires windows.

Someone has any idea how to fix the computer without having to reinstall windows? No matter what?

    Thanks in advance,
    Ofir

    Hello

I doubt that it could be a hardware error (my personal opinion) but nothing is impossible, that you know
The fact is that a BSOD can be caused by hardware error, but also a serious software problem
In my opinion, something went wrong during the update

If you are not able to boot the operating system even by using a safe mode then a new install of the OS would be the last chance to get this sort problem

I think you should try a new installation to see if this could be a hardware problem because there is a small remnant of risk that this could be a hardware problem

  • Satellite A200-130 - had black screen after BIOS updated

I have Satellite A200-130 I install a windows Vista OS with success and after that, I have saved all the driver I DOWNLOAD and put on a single folder... but then I accidentally open the configuration files of the BIOS that is "setup.exe" with the file "skae180a.rom".

I tried to restart my laptop using the touchpad and after reboot I just get BLACK SCREEN and HD led flash just once and my CD/DVD drive is displayed for 5 seconds and nothing happens.

  • Satellite A200 PSAF6A - question of upgrading the Bios

I have a Satellite A200 PSAF6A and I am trying to upgrade the Bios as the current has a virus or something in it and I want to know how to do this with a floppy disk based BACK or how to make a boot disk for bios.

Any help would be so appreciated thanks.

    > I'm trying to upgrade the Bios because the current has a virus or something in it
    Virus in the BIOS?
Sorry mate but I put t believe that! Why do you think the ROM module where the BIOS is stored could be affected by the virus?

In addition, the traditional BIOS (BACK as you say) is not available for download!
You can find a BIOS based on the victory and these BIOS can be updated from windows system!

Would you help me how to remove the password of the BIOS for the Satellite A200-130 PSAE0E-00Y00YAR model?

My laptop was asked to enter the password when I put under tension.

    Hello

    Just check this article:
[How do I remove a BIOS password if I forgot it? | http://forums.computers.toshiba-europe.com/forums/ann.jspa?annID=11]

As you can see it s not possible to remove the BIOS password. It can only be done from an authorized service provider.

So, you should contact the guy and ask for help. They are able to remove a password from BIOS :)
