Satellite A200 PSAF6A - question of upgrading the Bios

I have a Satellite A200 PSAF6A and I am trying to upgrade the Bios as the current has a virus or something in it and I want to know how to do this with a floppy disk based BACK or how to make a boot disk for bios.

Any help would be so appreciated thanks.

> I'm trying to upgrade the Bios because the current has a virus or something in it
Virus in the BIOS?
Sorry mate but I put t believe that! Why do you think the ROM module where the BIOS is stored could be affected by the virus?

In addition, the traditional BIOS (BACK as you say) is not available for download!
You can find a BIOS based on the victory and these BIOS can be updated from windows system!

    Hello

I would use the BIOS XP because most producers BIOS meet OS at the level of the back. The BIOS for ME maybe not compatible with XP.

  • Satellite A100-386 - how to upgrade the BIOS?

    Hello

I wanted just to update my old Satellite A100-386 with 4 GB of RAM (2x2gb Crucial) instead of 1 GB, as I am now running Windows7 Pro 64 bit instead of the original XP 32.

I read that I had to upgrade the BIOS as mine is v2.00. So, I downloaded the last of them.
It seems to be an automatic upgrade of BIOS (S10V600.exe) as mentioned on the site Web of Toshiba.
But when hit the .exe, I have a box of error message saying:
"LOADPEDRV. "EXE: could not start the service.

My question is: do I have to be 32-bit OS to run the upgrade of the automatic BIOS or is it possible to Flash the BIOS with a Windows7 64 bit OS run?

Thanks a lot for all answer as I found no 'how to' in search on this forum.

    Best regards
    François

    Hi FPSim,

Who said that you need to update the BIOS to upgrade RAM? The maximum RAM capacity depends on the motherboard and chipset and not BIOS.

Official website of Toshiba, I have seen that the model supports 4 GB of RAM so the BIOS update is not necessary. Increase the RAM and everything is ok.

  • Satellite A60-106: Question about updating the BIOS and the BIOS Flash

Fact the BIOS Flash update the BIOS or that requires a different file. I've updated a Satellite A60 BIOS to 1.9 but am not sure if cela flashed the BIOS as well.

If this isn't the case, where I could get a file to Flash BIOS for satellite A60-106?

    Hello

Sorry, but you question is a bit confusing.
The update of the BIOS flashing the ROM module I put t know which version is installed before upgrading the BIOS, but if after the upgrade, a new version of the BIOS appears then the procedure was a success.

The good BIOS and how to upgrade the BIOS information you will find on the page of Toshiba.

How can I upgrade the Bios and firmware on my 2800-600? I want to install a new Combodrive. Which drives are supported? Where can I find the drivers and firmware etc... Please let me know. Thank you.

Another point of view - I bought MS Windows XP Pro and haven´t you have a PC to install it on. Can I install this OS on my Satellite? Will it work? Where can I find the drivers for touchpoint etc etc... Normally, the Toshiba works with Windows ME and I can not use ITunes on ME... if XP would be great - what do you think?

    Hello Jürgen

In my opinion, if you install the operating system on the unit you you use the recovery CD provided because it has been tested and it works without any problem. But if you want to install another system on your laptop, you can use the original Microsoft OS and all the necessary drivers, you can find the Toshiba site.

  • Satellite A200-1CR: Question about upgrade HARD drive

    Hi all...
I would like to ask something...

I have toshiba Satellite A200-1cr with 120 GB HARD drive...

I would like to change my HARD drive. I found a disk hard 2.5 "with 250 GB.

    My questions are the following:

    (1) my knowledge of the workstations are very very good. Is it easy to change myself?
I guess it is, but I want to be sure... I guess that is on IDE, right? No SATA at all?

    (2) if I changed it I lose my warranty?

    (3) can I give my laptop Toshiba in Greece official store and let them make the change?
May I take in an informal shop, too?

    (4) can be put on the laptop 2 x 250 GB such US new computers laptops from toshiba?
Is there enough space in the laptop for such a change?

    Thank you in advance...

    Hey Buddy

It is good that ask you the question.

    (1) the Satellite A200-1CR supports SATA and no IDE interface and that's why you need a SATA HDD. It of really not difficult to replace the HARD drive and as far as I know, you should find a few details in the user manual. There is a useful statement and photos that explain the entire procedure.

    (2) hm AFAIK the drive replacement HARD will not void the warranty, and has no effect on the State of security.

    (3) you can also contact the maintainer authorized Toshiba in your country for a HARD drive replacement, but in my opinion that is not really necessary because the replacement is not very sensitive. As I said above, check the user manual.

    (4) I don t think that your laptop will support 2 x 250 GB HARD drive.
Of course, there are a few other series laptops which are abele to support two hard drives but I n t think that your laptop A200 support.

Just a small comment on the new HARD drive:
The fact is that some more HARD drive are not supported by the BIOS. I mean an upgrade to 120 GB to 250 GB drive HARD is really a leap one possibly your BIOS would not recognize the HARD drive correctly.
So I recommend to test the HDD first before buying.

    Good bye

  • Re: Satellite A200-1TS - can I upgrade the CPU Intel Core Duo T7800 mobile

    Hello

I have a laptop toshiba Satellite A200-1TS with processor intel core 2 duo T7500 mobile.
Here is my model: http://ark.intel.com/Product.aspx?id=29761&processor=T7500&spec-codes=SLA3N, SLA44, SLADM, SLAF8,.

I want to change the processor with Intel core duo T7800 mobile.
This is the model: http://ark.intel.com/Product.aspx?id=31729&processor=T7800&spec-codes=SLA75, SLAF6

Is it possible to change this?
Because is not a diference betwwen T7500 and T7800.
The only diference is that T7800 has 2, 6 GHz. And my motherboard supports any other procesors as T8XXX or T9XXX?

    Thank you

Why do you want to upgrade?
Only due to the fact that the new processor takes in charge the 2.6 Ghz instead of 2.2 Ghz?

To be honest, you will notice no no performance gain after these updates.
Of course, the processor is faster, but would not really noticeable.

In addition, you should know that a CPU upgrade on laptop is very complicated.
First disassembly of the laptop is really complicated. It may be damaged other parts during disassembly procedure and more, you will lose the warranty.

Theoretically, this processor should be compatible, but as much as I know the Toshiba does not support updates and there could be a conflict of BIOS.

So I would not recommend these updates.

PS: Check your chipset and look at the Intel page for more information about the various CPU media.

  • Satellite L50-B-177 - after upgrading the BIOS can not use the Polish symbols

Hi, I'm newbie here. This is my first post, so sorry for the plain text.

I have a problem with the laptop Satellite L50-B-177 1 month of my wife. After update BIOS (from Toshiba Service Station) to version 1.70 I have this problem: it is impossible to use symbols of Polish that comes with ALT + z, ALT + x, ALT + c. other - ALT + a - works normally.

Problem is the operating system independent (even on the live session of Ubuntu). I understand that this is a specific problem for the location of the Poles, but causes cell useless for my wife (she is a teacher and write a lot of text). As much as I know BIOS downgrade is not available for customers, and the weeks of waiting for the new package of BIOS is out of the question.

    Any suggestions will be appreciated.

    Hello

This problem occurred imadiately after updating the BIOS?

Have you tried to set the BIOS settings by default once the update is complete?
    If this isn't it.

Also, check if the Polish keyboard language was chosen correctly and as a default value.

    Comments are greatly appreciated.

In fact, the Toshiba never release notes on their BIOS updates.

Unfortunately, I didn't find all the details on the changes to the BIOS on Toshiba European pages.
I found a log file BIOS on the site Web of Toshiba us but Satellite A200-PSAE6E is a European model and I doubt that the news of the Toshiba page relates us to the A200 models.

  • Satellite A200 - strange question after updating the graphics driver

The problem is with the driver Mobile Intel (r) 965 Express Chipset Family. System: Grand VISTA 32 bit Home Premium Service Pack 1. Laptop: Satellite A200.

I have installed the new driver of this (suggestion by Toshiba TEMPO) source:

    http://CE.computers.Toshiba-Europe.com/innovation/download_driver_details.jsp?id=65340&OSID=26&drive rLanguage = 42 & SOURCE = TEMPO & LNG = 20

After switching on the computer, the system is constantly asking me ("warning on securities"), whether to execute (open) 3 files: C:\Windows\System32\igfxtray.exe /... hkcmd.exe /... igfxpers.exe. Disabling the option "Always ask before opening the file" does not help. I have to choose the option "Open / cancel / close" to continue the implementation of the windows (an option to switch). Please don't forget that I translated above mentioned communications of poles.

Answer to the question, I received the support of Intel (r):

++ This is not really a problem with our drivers. This is related to the rights of the user/administrator and security functions defined by Windows * Vista. ++

    Yours faithfully,

    Maciej Kochan

When you install the drivers, you must right click on the EXE file and choose "Run as Administrator".

You should also temporarily disable your security software or reconfigure it to allow the file system.
Tools such as AdAware and Spybot spyware removal (or spyware in your Internet Security package tool) may block the file system.

  • Satellite A200-1WF does ' t, even the bios boot

    Hi all

    I have a laptop Toshiba Satellite A200-1WF (PSAE3E-04R01DDU).
Two weeks ago, the LCD screen is broken, so I bought a new one and it succeeded. After I replaced the lcd screen and all assembled, I want to start the laptop.
But I don't see anything on the screen, I saw only light blue this laptop is connected to the adapter and for a few seconds the battery. After a few seconds he exploded, the same for the hard drive.

I connect my laptop to an external monitor, no signal. I opened the several times of laptop to check if everything is connected well and as far as I know it is. I also replaced the broken one because it works. There of just scratches and a few blackheads. Unfortunately which also did not work.

I read somewhere on the forum to hold the button for 30 seconds, without adaptor and batteries. After that, replace the adapter and the battery and start it. Also, did not work.

After that, I check if the laptop recognizes the memory if I don't have one. so I did and the adpater transformed light orange. If it works.

What I tried also, that's when I start the laptop to hit the ESC key and f1. Also nothing and no sound I have touched many keys.

    Please help me.

Seems you did something wrong during the disassembly procedure.
No one will be able to tell what is badly done, it is that you did something that infringes on the motherboard or another party

It s really not advisable to disassemble laptops because the procedure is delicate and during removal, you can damage parts of the essential equipment

In my opinion, you should get in contact with a technician who could run some tests or check parts of a malfunction

    Mate good luck

    Thanks for anyones help.

    Hello

Upgrading the CPU is a bit tricky on laptops and more often than not desirable and is not possible.
After the CPU overheating upgrade, it would be possible that don t cooling modules are working properly and the laptop.
Why? Well well, the CPU new and stronger products, more heat and the temperature would be Monte. The fan table that is stored in the BIOS will not correspond with the new CPU and the cooling fans would not correctly work.
In addition, upgrading CPU will void your warranty! It's very risky!

Anyway, looks like you certainly want to upgrade the processor?
So I would check the chipset installed on your laptop.
Try to know the details of the chipset and Intel page for compatible processors research!
