  At first, I must say it's really strange that something like this happens so suddenly. It seems that your laptop can not find the HARD drive as a boot device.

  Start please your laptop, then press F2 to enter the BIOS settings. Check it please on the first page if the HARD drive is recognized and registered correctly. If Yes check it please boot option in the BIOS and don't forget HARD drive is set as the first boot device.

  Please post some info on the status of the BIOS and the HARD drive.

  I think that a screenshot would be very useful in this case.

  This error message means that an incorrect boot order is set and the computer tries to start between LAN port to the internal HARD disk space. It should therefore go into BIOS setup and change the boot order. Put the HARD drive as the first boot device internal.

  I have a Toshiba Satellite A100-590, and I am trying to install Windows XP Pro SP2 MSDNAA from a cd. But whenever I try to boot from it, I get the following error message:

  and it starts the already installed Windows XP Home Edition. On several boards of people say that this is caused by the boot loader tries to start from a network and not being able to find a server to boot from.   I have a Toshiba Satellite L500 only a few weeks, after a reboot I got the following error message,
  "For failure of Realtek PCI-E Ethernet Controller PXE - E61 Media Test, check cable PXE - M0F outgoing PXE ROM.

  I tried everything I could think off, ultimately exploitation 0 cash to restart to try to restore the factory default, however the laptop just made the turn, loading the operating system, drivers etc, restart, then back to the loading of the operating system again. I suspect the PXE - E61 error indicates the hard drive has developed a defect and will need to be replaced, but I would avoid to return under warranty if possible.

  Could someone either confirm that there is nothing I can do other than return under warranty or offer me a fix?

  I had a similar problem on my laptop HARD drive became faulty after a few weeks. I think that this is not uncommon and can still happen, so all data must always be backed up on a second disc.   Can you post more information about this behavior? What version of BIOS you are using at the moment and what BIOS update you try exactly?

  BIOS update requires administrator privileges, so you must run the update as an administrator. Also unzip all the files to zip archive before you start the update.

  May I ask * why * you want to update the BIOS?
