Satellite A200/W00 - abandoned game performance

I have a laptop Toshiba A200/W00.
It has 32 bit Vista Home Premium installed on it, a 2.2 gHz Core 2 Duo processor, 2 GB of RAM and an index of performance of 4.7.
It has two hard drives of 160 GB in it.

Several months ago I had problems with my laptop which made me resort to having to run my recovery disks to bring the laptop to default values. This bothers me not at all, as everything I had on it was recoverable.

This recovery wiped only my HDD 'hand', leaving the other completely intact and works perfectly, all this that was on it was always there, etc.

After I had reinstalled, updated my laptop completely (running DirectX 10 as opposed to the 11 that I had before), there has been a noticeable drop in performance in my games.

The games that I could run easily before no longer work. I used to be able to play Assassin Creed on parameters almost at the maximum and play Unreal Tournament 3 on smaller settings without a single problem. But trying to play these games now, they usually freeze and crash when I try to play them. An other ways I noticed a drop in performance was in the Warcraft 3 game with friends, playing DotA.

My laptop used to load at the same exact time as laptop from my friend and now mine takes about twice as long as it used to load up. And to add on top of that: I bought a laptop a few years older than mine as my Toshiba loaded faster early last year.

If someone would get to know what may have reduced the performance of my laptop and can help me, I would be very grateful. Thank you.

In many cases a slow game performance is caused by a wrong or old graphics driver.
So is that you have updated your graphics driver? You can find it on the Toshiba site.

In addition, you must install the latest version of DirectX.
Visit the Microsoft Web site to download and make sure you have Service Pack 1 installed.

Everything right now that s what I can say.

    Hello.

I'm running a laptop Toshiba Satellite A200/W00 (PSAF6A-0W00IN), and I recently installed my brand new Windows 7 Professional that I just bought.

I found drivers for Windows 7 for my laptop on site and installed the Protector Suite QL 5.8.0.4024, and very comfortable.

Once I restart my computer after installing on the connection screen where the button scan fingerprints is connect it says "Cannot read the scanning device", or something in that sense.

When I connect another pop up with the program on the bar showing the same thing, that my fingerprints, the scanner must be connected tasks. It is built into the laptop, it should not need to "plug".

I tried to uninstall the drivers for my biometric device, and then on the analysis of the physical changes he immediately detected my fingerprint again reader and reinstalled the drivers of it.

So my fingerprint reader is clearly working, but Protector Suite QL is not detect it. I don't understand why.

Someone has discovered this problem or knows how to fix? I can't exactly check the State of my scanner as it is built into my laptop.

You can use fingerprints (TrueSuite Access Manager) software and all the features it?
You have registered your fingerprints? Some problems?

Check the settings from there and be sure connect password option replace Windows with the connection of the fingerprint is enabled.
In all this history it's really strange that only the windows fingerprint logon cannot correctly detect the device.

I have a Qosmio x 300 with fingerprints. Have updated Win7 and everything works well. I may simply have more luck then you have. ;)

However, Vista was preinstalled on my laptop and obviously I don't have the disk. Anyone knows where I can get hold of it or have the same problem with the similar updates. I tried to disable my antivirus, firewall, antispyware drive controls, clean ups etc and nothing.

    Any help would be appreciated.

    Thank you

  • Satellite A200-1BP: very slow performance

I'm not completely satisfied with the performance of my laptop Satellite A200-1BP.
It is so slow that I expected although it has 2 GB of ram.

    What could be the problem?
It is thanks to Norton Antivirus what?

How can I configure my phone for maximum performance?

    Someone help please!

Maximum performance is fairly general term. I hope that you know very well that Vista needs far more resources than Windows XP Home edition and, in general, it might be a little more slowly. Of course, performance is dependent on all the background running processes.

To be honest, the first thing I did is to delete preinstalled Norton. I'm sure that without Norton System work better. Please also check all the tools and utilities that begin with OS (START > RUN > MSCONFIG) and disable all the stuff, you do not need.

What you can also do is to disable all hardware components, you must not like modem or PCMCIA slot. As you can see there are many ways to optimize the operating system and to run faster.

    Good bye

  • Satellite Pro M70: The game performance with Vista and Intel 915GM graphics card

    I have a satellite Pro M70 1.73Ghz with 768 MB of RAM.
Although many would condemn the 915GM chipset (with graphic GMA900) as garbage, I was surprised to find on XP it can run quite a few games like Need for Speed Underground 2.
I've heard some bad comments on the chipset with vista, and I was wondering if there is anyone out there who knows if I'll get the same kind of performance 3D with vista or not.

    Hey guys

You have a Mobile Intel 915GM 8MB - 128 MB shared memory graphics memory. What do you expect?
Check on the Microsoft website, the terms of Vista!

It s not a graphics card performance and the games will not work with fast performance under XP and not Vista OS.

    Expect too buddy!

    Hello

    I have a Satellite A200 - 25 X (originally performed with Vista) and just installed Windows 7.

Problem is that now my remote (model No. G83C0008A110) no longer works. So far, I have not found all the drivers for the remote control.

    Hey,.

Have you ever seen the Toshiba driver download page? You have an older model laptop, so pilots are moved to the archives, but it is possible to download all the drivers:

  • Drop in severe performance on extended usage - Satellite A200-1AX

    Hello world
I have problems with my Satellite A200 about long (3-4 + hrs) periods of use.

After this period, the machine knows performance progressive, starting from piercing screams while playing sounds to complete unable to play videos or music, run the processor intensive software and so on. Also, the laptop seems to overheat a little beyond this period. In addition, while experiencing problems and try to improve the performance by closing unnecessary programs, I am unable to do it normally / the level of Task Manager (they are somehow insensitive to menu dialogue Vista or 3rd party software for killing processes).

The problem started to appear after about 1 month because using Recovery Kit of products due to corrupted 7 days ago. DLL (it worked fine for the month).

I also ran several software spies/virus checks (by ZoneAlarm/AVG/AdAware) no available, registry cleaning carried out, checked Vista and driver updates. However, the problem persists.

What should I do to solve the problem? Everyone knows these declines in performance, before?

It's very strange, and it is not easy to say why this can happen. Nobody knows what you do with your laptop to us or which applications you use for every day use. I use the Satellite A200 to my work and I use it more than 8 hours a day.

My work is on the Internet, write emails and the intensive use of IE7 and Opera at the same time. All the time works Internet radio on WinAMP and time to copy different files from our corporate network. Everything works and you don't believe me, laptop is not yet hot.

Please do not forget that your laptop is placed correctly on the table. Maybe you can put two CD boxes under the rear of your laptop to make the greatest distance between the party office and bottom of your laptop. Make sure that nothing is blocking the cooling fans and your laptop can be cooled properly.

Disable the autostart for all applications, you do not need for your work. I don't know if there's anything you need, so many applications for virus/spyware controls. I guess that all programs soon or later, one of them got in the way with each other.

It can be so many things, but no one here will be able to say with certainty what the problem is here.

  • While the graphics of games download scrambled and freezes Satellite A200-1j0

    Hello

I have a problem of great graphics with my laptop. Its a Satellite A200-1j0 with HD 2600 running vista 32 bit.
When I start a game, only the graphics are scrambled and the nb freezes.

I have been using the nb for casual games, since I bought it (1 year ago) without any problem.
But a few days, a few games (hl2, far cry 2) started my freezing system rarely and at random times.
Today, I've updated the drivers from the Toshiba site and it got worse.

It happens now in almost all games, and, as soon as the graphics appear after loading screens.
Windows will run without problems, however.

Here are some pictures of the laptop when the graphics get scrambled

Doesn't look good I agree with Akuma.
Check if the BIOS and driver graphics card to day helps.
If that does not solve the graphics problem then ASP support is necessary.

  • Satellite A200 - 1 M 8: issue playing in Open GL games

    Hello!

I am the proud owner of the Satellite A200 - 1 M 8 (graphics card: ATI Mobility Radeon HD 2600). I have problem with playing the games in the graph Open GL system (Jedi Academy or other Quake III-chart-based on a gaming system, for example).

When I was looking for a answer to my problem, I have based a single thread, also marked useful, but unfortunately is not updated, site of the user's response is no longer available (http://forums.computers.toshiba-europe.com/forums/thread.jspa?messageID=13561㓹).

I used Vista, now I am running XP, I downloaded the latest display drivers for XP, for my Toshiba A200 - 1 M 8, and whenever I try to launch the game with Open GL, I get error like:
"GLW_StartOpenGL() - could not load OpenGL subsystem".
My question is: How can I solve this problem? Are there drivers or solution to make it works? As always, any help is appreciated.

    Greetings - Andrew Wysokiski.

    Hello

Did you google for GLW_StartOpenGL() - could not load OpenGL subsystem.
And you will get a huge amount of hits.

    It really looks like a graphic driver problem. For most updated could help to solve this;
As far as I know not all drivers GPU supports the OpenGL but DirectX.

Someone recommended to check if the OpenGL was chosen (if possible). IF this settings are available, then you might find somewhere in the graphics driver options.

    Bye and good luck

  • Can not watch the game on Satellite A200-1DB

    Hello

I recently bought a Toshiba Satellite A200-1DB with Intel Duo Core 1.86 GHz, 2 GB RAM (1 GB upgrade) and an NVIDIA GeForce GO 7300 TurboCache.

I tried to watch the Warcraft 3 introductory video, but he seemed to miss the picture but the sound did not work properly. I tried to configure the video settings, which resulted in an accident. It may not be a problem if the game. I tried to watch the introduction of Max Payne video that showed Visual effects but whose sound.

I tried to download several display drivers, but none of them seemed to work on this problem (from various locations such as NVIDIA, Toshiba, laptopvideo2go). What is the problem? I have to keep looking or switch to XP OS?

    Thanks in advance!

    Hello

If none of your intro´s games work... have you tried to update all THE drivers? Sometimes, do not display driver. (By the way, tried the omega drivers?).
Perhaps it would be really good to download the audio driver from www.realtek.com and a codecpack
    from here-> www.free-codecs.com/download/K_Lite_Codec_Pack.htm

In addition, I suggest you to restore your system before you install these drivers and just install the drivers and then the games to check if no doubt others software causes this error...

Would appreciate feedback on your situation.

    See you soon

  • Satellite A200-1BJ tends to overheat and cutting everything in game

    Hello

I have a problem with my laptop. He has a tendency to overheat and shut down when I play games. CPU was just before 107C the emergency stop.

Fan works, but fan speed gets ever faster from 70 ° C to stop. (I know it can go faster, because when I flashed the Bios, he spends at maximum speed.)

So my question is: is there a way I can force fan to move at full speed?

    Hi Jason

    > I have problem with my laptop. He has a tendency to overheat and shut down when I play games. CPU was just before 107C the emergency stop.
I agree with you. It really looks like an overheating problem.
If the internal temperature reaches a critical level then the laptop stops automatically to prevent the equipment from damage.

    Why a laptop overheat?
Well, there are various reasons such warm-ups.
First of all it is possible that don t cooling modules work correctly because of the dust and debris inside the laptop.

You must also make sure that there is enough free space around the laptop to ensure fresh air circulation.

At the other hand as a graphic driver non-Toshiba could cause an overheating problem.
This is why you should always use a graphics driver for the Toshiba driver page.

Please check the points mentioned and maybe you might know the reason for the overheating problem.

    See you soon

  • Satellite A200-1VP: Installation of recovery could not be performed

    Satellite A200-1VP
    Can someone help me please?
I used the Toshiba recovery disc yesterday and ended up with a much worse that I started with!
The process has worked for about 15 minutes and then I received a message that installation could not be completed because of damaged files.

Great - I tried to start the process again, but it all comes with the same message immediately.
I then installed Windows7 while I have an operating system & that seems to work OK but, of course, I've lost all drivers that came with the laptop.

Given the number of messages concerning problems with the recovery of the system, I am really surprised and disappointed that a company whose reputation of Toshiba seems unable to provide its customers a reliable method of recovery.

Anyone know if there is way I can reinstall the drivers needed please?

I'm not a very experienced user and I'm certainly not as young as I was so, if you are able to help, can you please explain it very simply!

you for any help you can give me.

    Hi mate

First of all it s really a shame that you cannot complete the installation of recovery.
I got my two laptops Toshiba different and every time the recover ran properly and could be finished so it's certainly ok with the restore process and possibly damaged files were responsible for your problem

However, I also installed a fee of Win 7 on my laptop A210 and in most cases the Win 7 automatically recognizes all the devices and I n t need to install all the drivers.

But I installed VAP (value added package) and utility support of flash memory card that I could download on page European driver Toshiba. But chose the L500 series because I couldn't find the VAP and support flash Cards for A210 utility. However, it worked.

Oh I forgot to say that I had to install the battery Bluetooth that I found it here:

  • Installing the program on HDD internal 2 on the Satellite A200 - 28 p

    Hello world

Can someone help me? My pc has 3 discs apparently (this is a Satellite A200 - 28 p) and when I do a disk defragment it says that there are 3 a windows and c and d. Now, my query is can I install programs on the d drive I have recovery discs so guess that means that this drive is empty, as says that there 91.5 GB free of 91.6 Go.

Does that mean so I can install programs on there, as have a print program of photo that is large enough and would be helpful if could install and a few other programs that use everyday, but like here when needed, on this other drive leaving my C drive for my Sims 2 games stuff and the stuff of Vista by default so that was a great help here before asking if everyone help me out my technical skills are basically could :-(zéro

But I'm willing to learn, and as it says this laptop comes with a think that means 120 GB HDD can use either but I wanted to check before tried anything that either don't want to take the risk of ruin if it's a recovery drive and not a single one of my personal programs.

Thank you so much to anyone who can help me with this question that wish had more technical knowledge.

    Debbie (Simreaper)

    Hi Debbie,.

I don't know what you mean to have three readers, it is indeed very strange for display in the Defragmenter, so for now will be only concerns on your C and D drives only (which should be fine). you said you have the recovery disc for the computer, in which case do not any space on the drives reserved for recovery (as in the case of some laptops Toshiba-no).

I would recommend only for purposes of recovery, to make a backup of all important data and settings on a separate DVD a regular and make sure that you have a factory DVD Toshiba-state recovery (i.e. one that is in the box when you bought the computer), or one that Toshiba has prompted you to do it yourself. You can also use software such as Acronis to create an easy to maintain the recovery point. I recommend you stick with a recovery DVD and a backup of all your work and folders however to get a clean install/recovery.

In terms of where to install your photo program/sims2 game, it is to you. As C is the primary drive the primary partition has the best performance on drives C and D. This is why I recommend to leave all your files of program out there and let the D drive for files/applications/games that you do not use as much. You could integrate the storage space of drives C and D in C only, but it's a little too complicated to explain here.

    I hope this helps.
