Not to say could not upgrade from Vista Home Premium to Windows 7 Professional
I pre-ordered Windows 7 months with no indication that I couldn't switch from Vista Home Premium to Windows 7 Professional without performing a new installation. Now I learn that I have to re - install all THE programs, once I have perform this upgrade / 'clean install '. All the criticism of Windows Vista pales in comparison to my irritation at says this news AFTER the purchase, and not before. Failure of the installation of the Windows 7 Upgrade Advisor to note any problem. All previous Windows upgrades went flawless. Needless to say I am extremely disappointed by this turn events and we hope that Microsoft will improve its pre-purchase counseling in the future.
I guess I have no choice now but to do a clean install of Windows 7 and then reinstall on my computer that will put me out of use for a long period of time? I backed up the entire hard drive before trying to install, but I doubt I can get by simply restoring this backup. Is this correct?
Hi pwcushman,
Thank you for visiting Microsoft Answers.
Windows Live OneCare Backup works in stages. You start by setting up how you want Backup to run and save the configuration. The backup will then run according to schedule and backup your files according to the saved configuration. You can make changes to this list or add other files and folders.
You can restore all files and folders, but you will have to reinstall all the programs.
Check this link for more information:

My readers Optiarc DVD - RW AD-7530 ATA Device DVD/CD-ROM & the Bison Webcam built into my laptop. Does not work after I upgraded from Vista home premium to Windows 7 Home premium.
Although of course, the CD-ROM drive worked during the upgrade.
I noticed that when I turn firstly on the laptop, the last two lines of the front entry from Windows 7 are the following.
PXE - E6i:Media Test Failure, Check Cable
PXE - MOF: Exit PXE Rom
During the audit of each Properties in Device Manager devices", I learned that they both work correctly. In the list in the printers and the @Devices the only Webcam shown is also a "USB 2.0 Camera"
Can someone help me please?
Best regards
JohnBesides what abdelhak says:
The message of PXE boot that you receive when you start your computer has nothing to do with your CD/DVD-Rom drive. Your computer uses a PXE boot method to attempt to load Windows from a location on your network. Since you do not have this configuration, it is safe to ignore it. If it slows down the startup time of your system, contact your manufacturer and ask them for instructions on how to "disable PXE Network Boot of the BIOS.
Hope this helps,
Thank you! Ryan Thieman

Downgrade my Vista Home Premium to Windows XP
Hello
I'm fed up with Vista, and I bet that lots of ppl would agree with me.
It is slow and eats a lot of my energy to the battery.I would like Microsoft to tell me how I can downgrade to XP, free of Charge!
I can't be expected to pay for the XP operating system software, Vista is really a scam. Microsoft should not ask customers to pay for their mistakes.A customer very FRUSTRATED.
There is no free XP for your version of Vista.
Can I downgrade my OEM version of Windows Vista business to Windows XP Professional?
Yes. Right of demotion OEM desktop operating systems PC apply to Windows Vista business and Windows Vista Edition full, as stated in the terms of the license. Please note, downgrade versions OEM Windows Vista business and Windows Vista Ultimate are limited to Windows XP Professional (including Windows XP Edition Tablet PC and Windows XP x 64 edition). End users can use the following media for their downgrade: Volume Licensing media (provided that the end-user has a Volume License Agreement), trade retail (FPP) or System Builder hologram CD (provided that the software is acquired in accordance with the Microsoft OEM System Builder License). Use of degraded operating system is governed by the Windows Vista Business license terms, and the end user cannot use the downgrade and professional Windows Vista operating system. There is no right of demotion for Windows Vista Home Basic or Windows Vista Edition Home Premium.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Installation of XP instead of Vista:
Come on first, site of the manufacturer of your computer, check to see if your model computer has XP drivers available for it...
If the XP drivers are not available for your model, forget the idea.
If Yes, download and save to a CD or Flash drive.
Then buy a disc XP and license.
Save all your data because it will be lost during the installation of XP.
Then follow the steps below to do a clean install.
http://www.winsupersite.com/showcase/windowsxp_sg_clean.asp
Once installed, reload ALL your other programs of original media, or download again.
Reload all drivers and utilities for your motherboard.
See you soon.
Upgrade of Vista Home Premium to Windows 7 Ultimate
Can I switch from Vista Home Premium to Windows 7 Ultimate 32 bit?
Upgrade paths:
When important changes to your computer, for example an upgrade, it is always recommended that you back up your system before installing a new version of Windows. In your case, you can upgrade to Windows 7 depending on the edition and the architecture of Windows Vista, you have installed. If you are running a 32-bit version of Vista and upgrade to a 64-bit (Windows 7 edition) version, you'll have a pure make install, it is the opposite case.If you are using Windows Vista Home Basic or Premium consumer editions, you can only upgrade to Windows 7 Home Premium or Ultimate. In addition, you can make downgrades, which means, if you are running Windows Vista Ultimate Edition now, you cannot downgrade to Windows 7 Home Premium. You perform logical upgrades:
Windows Vista Home Basic > Windows 7 Home Basic, Premium or Ultimate
Windows Vista Edition Home Premium > Windows 7 Home Premium or Ultimate
Windows Vista Business > Windows 7 Professional, enterprise or ultimate edition
Windows Vista Business > Windows 7 Enterprise
Windows Vista Ultimate > Windows 7 Ultimate.Also run the Windows 7 Upgrade Advisor:
http://www.Microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyId=1b544e90-7659-4BD9-9e51-2497c146af15&displaylang=enThis will check your system for compatibility issues before making the upgrade so that you can resolve.
game Windows does not
Hello Rob Broome.
Thanks for posting on the Microsoft answers Forum.
This error is probably the result of a damaged registration service.
To resolve this problem: -.
1 start, run and type cmd
2. type msiexec / unregister (note the space before the slash) and press enter
3. type msiexec/regserver (note the space before the slash) and press enterClick here to download the Windows Installer Cleanup utility. You can use the utility to remove installation information for programs that were installed by using Windows Installer. Remember that Windows Installer CleanUp Utility does not remove the actual program from your computer. However, it will remove the installation files so that you can start the installation, upgrade, or uninstall on. Delete the mention of the problem program or software.
Then try again and install any program you install problems.
I hope this helps.
Sincerely,
Marilyn
Downgrade from Windows Vista Home Edition to Windows XP Pro Dutch on Satellite P200-15N
Not knowing where I really should put this... I put it in this part of the forum too :)
So:
Hello
I bought a new laptop with Vista Home and two Partitions... I would like to install on the second partition "Windows XP pro" (with official key & SP2 included)! But when I run the XP Cd I get an error that the HD is not recognized... So I searched on the forum here, to see if there is a possibility of passby he...
So what I did:
(1) I download the "Intel storage drivers" of->
http://Downloadcenter.Intel.com/Filter_Results.aspx?strTypes=all&ProductID=2101&OS FullName = Windows * + XP + Professional & lang = eng & strOSs = 44 & submit = Go %21(2) I used the Floppy machine, to create a floppy disk with the necessary drivers (also from the above site)
(3) I downloaded a copy of freeware "Nlite".
(4) I also downloaded the additional drivers on the "Toshiba" site itself (Lan, storage,...)
(5) I did a "Xp Pro P200-15N" card and put all the drivers... Including the Exe I downloaded from the link above named "iata76_cd.exe"...
(6) I have made a new Win XP bootable CD with "Nlite" & added all the drivers that I downloaded and followed the procedure given by "Nlite". He made a new bootable CD (with all the drivers and .exe and .inf, etc...)
(7) then I boot my laptop with the CD, but it always gives an error on sata drives... (that it can not be found...)
So my question is... What I'm doing wrong and what should the other drivers I download to make it work? I have an external USB floppy drive... If additional drivers must be added... So I hope that there is someone can help to Ho...
I install XP for professional reasons. Things Vista Home can not handle...
Hope I got a respons soon... CZ, looks really URGENT...
THX in advance and sorry if there are errors in my writing (I still am of Belgium)
UPDATE *.
The method above does not work for me... So took my USB floppy drive and put the drivers on it (hit 'F6' at the start, added the drivers found on the link above, it install it)...
Then I could also choose a partition...So far so good... He asked me if wanted to format it or not... I said ok...
Then, when he wanted to start the copy, I got:Insert the CD-rom or the floppy disk with the name
Driver Intel Matrix Storage Manager
In station of A:* Press ENTER when you are ready...
And I do not know what I do... CZ hitting enter doesn't do anything: s
So what I'm doing wrong, it becomes really ANNOYING and frustrating... I did everything they said in the link, in fact the method with f6, but still now reaction: s... Everyone?
Sincerely,
FrédéricThanks for the latest info!
