Satellite A210-171 - replacement screen and HARD drive

Hello

My partner is having some problems with his laptop computer, namely one - screen flickering Guard (lines run through, like a jump of TV) indicates that there may be a problem to use. She's out of its warranty, so I'm going to replace the screen.
Can anyone suggest where to look for a replacement, we are not rich - I have a budget for it and so I'm looking for some advice.

Second, she had a replacement hard drive recently, the person who put the new, has done so with a lot less of it, 60 GB instead of 160 GB, I'm looking to replace it in the same was as above.

So, can you give me advice on this practice as the last time I worked on a portable computer was 2001 (the size of a house!) and also make suggestions on alternatives less expensive which would continue to operate.

The laptop in question; http://www.morecomputers.com/extra.asp?PN=psafje-003003ks

We are resident in the United Kingdom.

Thank you very much

Hey Buddy,

In this case, you must contact an authorized service provider. Guys can order all spare parts Toshiba they will agree and will function properly. On the Toshiba site, you can find a list of them!

On the LCD, you should choose an original. There are many different screen on the market and it is difficult to tell if another would work in your notebook.

The HARD drive, you can buy everywhere. Just ask Google for some online stores where you can buy it. I have good experiences with Western Digital.

  • Satellite C660 - compatibility between motherboard and hard drive internal

Hi, I have a problem with the compatibility between the internal (1 terabyte) hard drive and installing windows 7 pro.
I broke my old internal hard drive (320 GB) and I bought the new hd (1 tb), but during the installation it says that w7 cannot be installed on this new hard drive.

Can my pc motherboard (serial number: 3B071014k) support the new hard drive (serial number: wd10jpvx)?
and if the answer is 'yes', how can I make it work?

First of all the question has nothing to do with the motherboard and HARD drive compatibility.
If the HARD drive is visible in the BIOS (first page), the HARD drive is supported by the BIOS and HARD disk controller.
In the case where the drive HARD isn't recognized, you will need to replace this HARD drive with another. I guess the smaller size of the 2.5 SATA HDD THAT would be taken in charge (500 GB)

However, in case the HARD disk is visible in the BIOS, you should be able to install Windows 7.
Before starting the installation, you must format the HARD drive and should create the system partition.
For this procedure, I recommend to use some tools such as partitions for example: GParted
GParted is a freeware Linux tool.
You can create a bootable USB key in order to start the device using GParted:
    http://gparted.sourceforge.NET/LiveCD.php

Then, you should be able to format the HARD disk and create partitions.

  • Satellite A210 - 11 p - gos black screen and HARD drive does not

    Hello

My Satellite A210 - 11 p suddenly goes to a black screen and the hard drive stops working. It is always under tension and if I want to restart I have to unplug the unit and remove the battery.

I thought it was overheating and checked the time and they were really high in the 1980s. I took the fan and cleaned (very dusty) and the basic form of thermal paste. Temperatures plummeted now immediately but I still have the same problem, I updated the graphics driver and watched the temp on GPU (which is fine) but the problem is still happening. I used a number of programs to check for errors on the hard drive and no reported problems. I reloaded Windows 7 but still no joy.
The problem seems to occur at any time and is not due to the execution of a given program, even just browsing with firefox

Not too sure what to do and any advice would be welcome.

    Hey Buddy,

    > I reloaded Windows 7 but still no joy.
Have you ever tried with Toshiba Recovery disk operating system?

The Toshiba recovery disc there is an image of the settings from the factory with all the drivers and tools. If you install Windows on this disk, you factory back.

That would mean if you have the same problem after the installation of recovery it s really bad hardware working because you have pretested settings of Toshiba. In this case an authorized service provider can help you make an accurate diagnosis what part is affected.

    Hello

Someone would be able to help me in upgrading my computer portable HARD drive?

When looking on the Toshiba support, can't get a reference to the HARD drive.

Looking around on the net, I found a few 500 GB for example:
-Western Digital WD5000BPVT WD Blue Mobile HDD internal 2.5 "SATA II 5400 RPM 500 GB
-Western Digital WD Scorpio 500 GB 16 MB 7200 RPM black, WD5000BPKT

Two of these SATA2 HDD would work in my laptop?

Or shall I seek another Ref.?

    Thanks in advance

    Eric

I think you can use both of them. I just hope that all capacity 500 GB is recognized correctly.
After upgrade, please test and send feedback.

  • Control of satellite A210 - 171 Panel\Hardware and its lack of Realtek HD Audio

    Hello

I made a few updates, the other night and went into msconfig,
I think I clicked Hide microsoft services and invalidate all or most of the unsure.
But usually when I go to control Panel\Hardware and the sound I can see a tab realtek hd audio
When I click that I get another panel of control/window where I have some options to change sound
As if I had a few options where I could select to use effects such as Hall, disco, party etc.

Also installed realtek AC 97, not sure if need, I can't see the realtek files in program files well.
He has another option to set the sound level that is practical to give a small boost to the volume.

Could someone tell me how to get realtek control Panel\Hardware and the sound

    Thanks in advance

    Hello

What operating system do you use?
I presume that you don t use original OS that you got with your laptop, right?

  • Satellite A210-171 - maximum capacity of a hard drive?

What is the max HDD capacity satellite a210-171 may take?

    Hi turboiwan,

As much I know satellite A210-171 has already interface SATA HARD drive so that you can install each HARD drive with this interface because the standard SATA are without capacity limits. This means that hard drives of 500 GB or more may work.

For example, I upgraded my laptop with 500 GB Western Digital drive HARD and this worked great.

  • Satellite Pro L50 - a: how to replace the memory, HARD drive and battery

I just uploaded 2 new video from Youtube on the L50 - A. Satellite Pro

The first is a tear down showing how to replace the memory, hard drive and battery (you can also clean the fan if it detects overheating).

    http://www.YouTube.com/watch?v=IG0lW7t92bI

BTW why they made it so difficult to get just to the battery in this model?

WARNING - proceed at your own risk and don't forget static precautions!

Hope they help and if you have any questions let me know.

+ The message was edited: link has been removed ad channel may not +.

Thanks for these videos. It may be useful to replace the memory, but I think that the owners of the laptop should not open the case. This may void the warranty.
    Be careful about this.

  • Satellite L70-A-139 - guaranteed zero when removing the cover for the RAM and HARD drive

    Hi all

    I have a Satellite L70-A-139 youcef.
And at the back of the laptop, there is a cover that is fixed with a screw.

Wil I void the warranty when I unscrew and take a look?
I want to upgrade my HDD to SSD.
The motherboard supports Sata III: D.

    Thank you!

No, the mandate must still be valid.
There is a removable cover at the bottom of the unit as shown here:
    [Toshiba Satellite C70 / C75 / C70D / C75D / L70 / L70t / S70 / HARD S70t drive replacement procedure | http://aps2.toshiba-tro.de/kb0/CRU3703HG0000R01.htm]

Then you should be able to upgrade the RAM and HARD drive.
I think this info should be mentioned in the user manual too.

  • Satellite A210-171 - how can I change the contrast and brightness?

I have myself in a bit of a mess here!
I am a digital artist and because I had trouble with my colors of the laptop to the printer I have advised me of many artist to buy a color calibrator.

My software has come today, but I was not able to do anything with it yet because it asks me to put my * contrast and brightness to 50% maximum setting * and I can't find where it is?

I have a satellite A210-171 - please someone help me
    I'm desperate!

    Hello!

  • Can satellite A100-847 - I replace my current HARD drive with a SATA2 HARD drive?

    Hello

I am currently using a Satellite A100-847 with a 100 GB SATA 5400 RPM HARD drive. I plan to change with a Western Digital WD2500BEKT 250 GB SATA2 16 MB 2.5 inch laptop hard drive 7200 TRM. Is it possible to replace my current HARD drive which is SATA with a one SATA2?

And if not what is my best option upgrade of the mine to a HARD fast (7200 RPM) disc?

    Hello!

Yes, you can replace the current drive with a SATA2 HARD disk. You already have a SATA interface, and this means that you can use each HDD with SATA interface.

I don't know Mr. but as far as I know the Satellite A100 cannot use the speed of SATA1. This means that the new HARD drive maybe won't work with SATA1 speed but there is no significant difference in performance.

A HARD drive with 7200 RPM is really fast, but don t forget it produces more heat and needs more electric battery. A HARD disk at 5400 RPM is perhaps fast enough for you?

    Good bye

  • Satellite A50: Question about type RAM and HARD drive

Anyone out there who would try to open their laptop Toshiba Satellite A50, what type of RAM and hard disk of brand you all have inside?
All the portable toshiba comes with Toshiba RAM and hard drive?

    Hello

As far as I know the Satellite A50 uses DDR PC2700 modules. These modules must be compatible:
    PC2700 256 MB (PA3311U - 1 M 25)
    PC2700 512 MB (PA3312U - 1 M 51)
    1024MO PC2700 (PA3313U-1M1G)

There are different models of Satellite A50, but I think that there should be a drive HARD IDE(ATA-6) 60 GB 4200 RPM with 8 MB buffer size.

Here is all the information I found.

I downloaded the driver from the website of UK.

Could someone help me please in installation or help resolve the problems I'm having
    See you soon

    Hello Shadow

Maybe a stupid question, but I would like to know why you need to install driver WLAN. As far as I know your laptop comes with Vista Home Premium. The recovery image (factory settings) contains the right WLAN driver.
You have lost the feature or what?
Are you still using an original preinstalled OS or you try ti install your own operating system?

  • I upgraded my card mother cpu ram and hard drive. I reinstalled windows xp home edition has got all of the updates. After 9 latest updates download and installtion went well, I restarted the computer, I get a blue screen and the computer restarts

I upgraded my card mother cpu ram and hard drive. I reinstalled windows xp home edition has got all of the updates. After 9 latest updates download and installtion was going well until I rebooted the computer and go to page window showing all the icons that I get a blue screen and the computer restarts its self and does not stop. How can this be corrected?

    Hi KevinRy,

Welcome to the Microsoft Answers site!

    Unplug all external devices.

Try to start in safe mode. If you can start in safe mode, and then do a system restore to restore the computer to an earlier point in time.

Change the recovery settings to disable automatic reboot, if you are able to boot up to the desktop computer:

    1.

Right-click my computerand then click Properties.

    2.

    Click the Advanced tab.

    3.

Under Startup and recovery, click settings to open the Startup and recovery dialog box.

    4.

Clear the automatically restart check box, and then click OK many times necessary.

    5.

Restart your computer so that the settings take effect.

Now, when you are going to close and a fatal error occurs, you will see at least and it won't cause an automatic restart.

Please reply back with the error message you get because it helps us to resolve the error.

    Kind regards
    Amal-Microsoft Support.
