Satellite A215-S7422 - cannot run the recovery disc - model corrupt system?

When you try to run reinstall on my Satellite A215-S7422 drive, the installer won't work, telling me that "this CD is for Satellite A210 A215 Satellite. Please use good CD.

When I run the information system, it identifies the model of my system a string as gibberish in the sense of: ' t.o &.

He could not work because of this? Is there a work around? How can I give a valid system model?

Hello

I have heard on a question as when the DMI information is missing or damaged. You can read about it in similar topics.

In any case, I think this happens when the motherboard was exchanged and the service center I forgot to update the DMI information on motherboard. If the computer model isn't recognized properly.

You should contact Toshiba service center. Guys can update DMI information and help you solve the problem. :)

  • Satellite A200: Can I use the recovery disc without wiping the drive

I read the threads on this forum, but I did not come with an exact answer to my problem.

With my regular PC, I got a disc of Installation of Vista, which is also a recovery disk (like that could do with XP). One of the most useful things is that when you start from the disc you have an option to "fix" the system, which means that all the vital files (such as the bootloader...) will be restored, but otherwise all data will remain. This is extremely important when for example you install a dual boot with Linux, when often Vista refuses to start and to repair the boot loader has solved the problem. Of course it can easily and quickly fix all kinds of other problems in the system as well.

My laptop Toshiba A200 (otherwise a wonderful machine), came with the Toshiba product recovery disc. From everything I read on the forum and what he says on the disc itself, I understand that it only allows a total reinstallation of the system, set at the factory, wiping your drive and everything on it.

Toshiba really leaves us without a 'repair' option '?
I find that quite amazing, because after all, I paid for the Vista operating system, so why shouldn't I get the options I would have if I had an original Vista disc?

If all the above I have is right, it means that if I want to install a dual boot with Ubuntu and would get a bootloader problem, I loose all my data when I have to repair the boot loader? (A problem which, with the option 'fix', takes only 5 minutes to fix!).

I would like to hear reactions, solutions, suggestions or alternatives.

    Thanks in advance,
    Yossi Beck

    Hey Yossi

I think you have misunderstood something!

You received with the image of Toshiba Toshiba Recovery CD! The image contains drivers Vista OS, Toshiba, tools, utilities, and additional programs!

Please don't compare this disc for the original CD of Microsoft Vista and don t mix it!

So using this disk, you can set the laptop back to factory settings!
This is very useful because this procedure takes about 10 minutes only and you get everything functioning OS with all the drivers, tools, etc.

Please note that no all users and customers who buy these phones are technicians and scientists ;) but simply newbie and such possibility of recovery is always welcome!

but the use of this recovery CD format the whole HARD drive and erases all partitions.
That is why it s advisable to back up the data before using the recovery CD/DVDs

  • Satellite L10-194 cannot run after recovery

Hello! I used my Satellite L10-194 for a few years, and he started to be really slow, I decided to reinstall the system (recover) to make it cleaner and faster.
I found my recovery of product L10 DVD - ROM, but when I finished the system restore would not start. I tried the recovery for some time, and it does not help. Whenever I try to start the computer, when it goes to load the system it just turns off (I think that it is something like the blue screen flashes for a second).

I checked the disk file image in advanced mode and HARD, and that's OK. But when I do HDD-> image in advance mode, after it is sometimes a moment when I have access to the command line. After getting "dir C:" I don't see a Windows directory (?), when restarting the computer does not work as usual. I'm doing something wrong?

I tried another CD of product recovery of the second Toshiba laptop that I have, and it works, it installs Windows but without pilots and things (it's a completely different model from Toshiba). What should I do? I'm not sure if the use of system preinstalled for model is the right idea (and legal)?

I had some problems with my front L10, and I had to change the motherboard. In service, what they said that they can't find a motherboard identical like that in my L10, so they used some different model. It's maybe the problem of recovery does not work why?

    PS.
Sorry for my English, please correct me in my errors, to help me improve the language :)

    > I had a few problems with my front L10, and I had to change the motherboard. In service, what they said that they can't find a motherboard identical like that in my L10, so they used some different model. It's maybe the problem of recovery does not work why?

I think that this is the reason why your laptop does not start after the recovery procedure.
Seems that the drivers that are part of the image are not compatible with the new motherboard.
Maybe the driver chipset or make sure you graphics card drivers some worries and windows crashes before starting the system
Maybe you could star the windows in safe mode. Press F8 just after pressing the power button / stop. Then choose Safe mode.
In safe mode, uninstall the chipset driver and the graphics driver and then try to start it again.

If that does not help, then install windows using a clean Microsoft CD.
Pilots should be placed on the page of European driver of Toshiba.

    welcome them

    Hey,.

As far as I know for notebooks, it s not possible to order an online Toshiba Recovery disk.

For older computers, you will need to order a disk at an authorized service provider. List of them which you can find here:

  • Satellite A215-S7414 - cannot open the control panel

I'm trying to get the dial upward through the phone line, but cannot access control panel. The screen acts like he wants to come but soon left out.

The laptop itself is a battlefield. I have to disable the player application to Windows loading. I can't access Windows on my administrative journal to and instead go through another user, I created to manufacture and store music. Start menu opens, but most / all Windows clients will not open.

I remember 'cleaning up' in the Panel of control for more than a year, I don't remember when the last time was that I could get into the controls. Any help on how get opened would be gladly appreciated.

    Hello

To be honest I have never heard of these problems but theoretically, it could be a virus or something else or your Windows installation is damaged, who knows?

Do you have an AntiVirus tool? So, I can recommend the AntiVir freeware tool. It s small and fast and I have pretty good experience with it.
    Check this box!

The problem persists there for a few days? If so, you can try a system restore to an earlier point. :)

  • Satellite L750 - if I use the recovery disc HARD Will this work?

    Guy Alrights

I have a L750 machine that gives me problems at the moment, so I'm going back to Strath, as when I brought brand new... So I wonder if I use HARD drive recovery which will be re install windows and all the drivers and all the pre install software? Or what will be installed?

    Hello

HARD drive recovery would fix the laptop back to factory settings.
Recovery of HARD drive installs the image of Toshiba. Toshiba is a package that contains the system Windows, drivers and tools and utilities.

But I read the other thread you created here, and it seems you did a clean installation
In this case the HARD disk recovery would not work more :(

    Hey Buddy,

I m not a Linux expert, but generally this Linux live CD can t be installed. You can start only to CD or a USB key because they don t write anything on the HARD drive. So I think that you need a different version.

Here most users use the version preinstalled Windows, but maybe this article can help you:

  • Disc of some issues concerning the recovery of Toshiba Satellite A215-S7422

    Dear all,

I have problem with my Satellite A215 - S7422 (AMD)
I bought this unit included Windows Vista Home Premium + recovery disk inside the packaging.
I love the Vista fitures, amazing!
But some programs I've had has not supported for Vista. It's too bad for me.
So, I tried to make new partition installed Windows XP SP2.
The problem is that my Vista not appeared more.
So I tried to recover my Vista with my recovery disk. But unfortunately, it has not worked at all.

    Issues related to the:
1 can recovery CD did not work if divide us the hard disk (make a few partitions)?
    2. my recovery disk file is .tib, so I try to use Acronis Image, while I have my laptop running program has not detected DVD player. I try to copy the file to two disk partition recovery empty, I can see the .tib file, but it did not work also. Can you explain what causes probably?
    3. If I format all the drives that make a player, can Recovery Disc works?

Please do me a favor for this
    Your help will be appreciated.

I'm not quite sure how it works on the American series, but I think that it s not very different from the series HAD m.

    (1) No, you can not divide the HARD disk by using the recovery disk. The recovery disc will format the whole HARD disk and create partitions as at the beginning.
    (2) I doubt you can burn using other 3rd party programs. Toshiba has installed creator Toshiba Recovery disk that should be used to burn the recovery disk
    (3) as I said in point 1-> recovery disk will format the whole HARD drive. It s no matter how many partitions is created on the HARD drive. Everything will be erased

  • Try to run the recovery on my Satellite A75 disc

When you try to run the recovery on my A75 disc, I get a message that it will not work on a machine not Toshiba. Looks like I'm missing some system files.

    Hello

You use the recovery disk shipped with this laptop?
Are you sure you have the right drive?

Other reasons might be wrong or missing information in the DMI.
The DMI contains details on the laptop model, serial number and other necessary details.
If this information is not correct, then the laptop cannot be recognized as a unit of Toshiba and so the Toshiba recovery procedure would not be possible.

    Check out this US page:
    http://www.CSD.Toshiba.com/cgi-bin/TAIS/support/JSP/outFrm.jsp?ofId=AskIris&SearchString=DMI+A75.------

You will find information on the DMI and the A75 Sat

  • Satellite L500D - can only burn the recovery of 1st and 2nd disc

I bought this 2nd hand computer laptop in the last two days with the factory default reset. However, I could only burn the 1st recovery disc 2 of 4 using Toshiba Recovery Disc Creator.

I am running Vista Home Premium SP2 32-bit. I started at F8 factory reset "out of the box" settings that went well. I did where there was a small problem when the previous owner restored to factory settings.

As he had SP1, I installed SP2. I upgraded the BIOS to 1.1 to 1.4, the latest. I also installed the latest version of Recovery Disc Creator for L500D, after uninstalling the old version.

    Downloads from http://www.mytoshiba.com.au/support/notebooks/satellite/l500/pslk0a-00r009/download.

I changed to another brand of DVD blank. I have checked and unchecked "Verify" in the Recovery Disc Creator. I also have the latest installed version of the Toshiba disc Creator software. I tried to burn discs 3 & 4 separately overall

I get no error message, just as the taskbar progress 3rd disc ends never quite at the end. The former owner has never created a set of the factory restore disks. Any thoughts would be appreciated.

    Hello

to be honest, I have not idea why t he does not burn it. I can offer you:

    1. use a high quality like Dvd - R verbatim media

    > I also installed the latest version of Recovery Disc Creator for L500D, after uninstalling the old version.

2 maybe, he won't burn with Toshiba disc creator software update. Restore back factory settings and try again with the old version of Toshiba disc creator.

    I have an A105 Satellite.

I lost the recovery disk that came with it, and I need to recover my entire hard drive.

    How can I do this

    Hello

You can order the recovery of the ASP disk in your country or you try to reinstall the operating system by using the original Microsoft disc.
This would be to install a clean Windows operating system and the missing drivers of Toshiba you can download and install from the Toshiba driver page we:

    Hello

Have you changed anything on your laptop?
I mean if your HARD drive recovery partition has been changed or the data partition thin o has been removed?

To be honest, for me, it looks like the issue of the BONE. I think that it s not a question of simple tool, but I think that the operating system was confused

Maybe you should try to recover the laptop using Toshiba HDD recovery and after the new installation of operating system on your laptop, you can try to create the recovery disk again.

To start the recovery, you must press the F8 key immediately after the laptop has been powered. Then, you choose the first option called fix my computer.
This would lead to a new window and there, you could choose Toshiba HDD recovery.

But note; This recovery would format the whole HARD drive then perhaps you need to back up data before you start this procedure.
