Satellite A30: Cannot install OS after HARD drive crash

My hard drive failed and I installed a new hard drive and bought a copy of XP Professional.

But after formatting HD and begins to load the software, it stops saying cannot load drivers.

Hello

Do you have what OS tried to install?
Have you tried to install the Toshiba Recovery CD or from the original Windows XP CD?

    I did an upgrade from vista to Windows 7 2 years. I bought the drive and installed, but my hard drive had to be replaced and I put vista back on it. Can I reinstall windows 7 using the same key code?  If anyone can help with this?

    Yes, you can reinstall Windows 7 using the same product key, you may have to reactivate if by phone.

    How to activate Windows 7 manually (activate by phone)

    1) click Start and in the search for box type: slui.exe 4

    (2) press the ENTER"" key.

    (3) select your "country" in the list.

    (4) choose the option "activate phone".

    (5) stay on the phone (do not select/press all options) and wait for a person to help you with the activation.

    (6) explain your problem clearly to the support person.

  • Can satellite A30 - I install a larger HARD drive?

    I thought I had taken care with boards and pieces of kit. but after the reconstruction of my A30 (having the replaced DC Jack), he comes up with the following messages:

    * SMART failure provided on hard disk 0: TOSHIBA MK4018GAS (PM) *.
    * WARNING: Immediately back up your data and replace your hard drive. A failure may be imminent.*
    * Press F1 to continue. *

    I tried winding connector to HARD drive decision-making, which seems OK.

    So start thinking I killed this disk somehow. If Yes, can I install a larger drive, say 80 or even 160 GB and should I look for a magic word MK4018GAS, or is it SATA or IDE, I'm looking.

    Thank you. Robin

    Hello!

    If you delete the old HDD, you can see if an IDE or SATA HDD but the Satellite A30 is equipped with an IDE HDD.

    You can use a larger HARD drive. This should not be a problem, but as far as I know this laptop has a limitation of LBA 28 bits. This means that the disc size limit is 128GB and so you can use a 120 GB HARD drive.
    If you want to learn more about this read the article on Wikipedia or here: http://www.48bitlba.com

    So, you can buy a 120 GB HARD drive or an 80 GB HARD drive as you suggest. I have good experiences with Hitachi and Seagate hard drives.

    In any case, I think that it s a good idea to exchange the HARD drive. SMART error message appears as if there is something wrong with the HARD drive to back up your data as quickly as possible. ;)

    Good bye

  • How to install Windows XP on Portege S100 home after HARD drive crash

    In my laptop s100-s1133 of a HARD drive crash. I buy a new one. Now, I can not intall OS (Windows XP). Windows is not installed, because it does not find my HARD drive. I got downlad drivers for toshiba (Toshiba RAID driver for XP (v1.3.8.0, 10/04/2006; 465 K)). After the installation of win98, it cannot detect the CD-rom...
    Y at - it a recovery for this model cd? or can say smb, how can I install WinXP on this model

    Hello

    You are right that you must install the first RAID driver before installing the operating system.
    If you have installed the RAID the installation Win driver will ask you to format the HARD drive.
    In this case, do NOT format the HARD drive because the RAID driver will remove and it is not possible to install the Windows XP.

    Now your question Win98; is on the page of the Toshiba driver you will find not all drivers for Win98 for this device and I assume that you need a particular driver for the CD/DVD drive to activate this device.

    I give you a warning regarding the use of the WinXP

    PS: On the Toshiba driver page, you will find the installation instructions. Follow this guide!

  • BSOD on install of Windows 7 after hard drive crash

    I have a HP Dv7 with Intel i7 and 8 GB memory. About 3 years.

    Recently, I lost my hard drive to a physical failure. I bought a 120 GB SSD as the principal and a 1 TB drive 7200 RPM as the secondary to be replaced. I ordered the HP restore kit to reinstall Windows 7, but each installation stops at "loading drivers" step and gives me a BSOD. I tried to remove the SSD drive and using only the hard drive, but the same results. Also tried to do a clean install of Windows 7 with an ISO image to a bootable USB key. The same problem. I also tried swapping the primary/secondary locations for readers.

    Nothing I have tried seems to work. I'm desperate for a solution! Why would I get a BSOD on a reinstallation of the software factory?

    I am trying install Windows 7 without SP1 to see if that works, but have no chance. What else can I try? What I have to install Windows 8 to work with the new hard drive or SSD? »

    I tried to restore 4 times (3 hours + per attempt). I tried the clean install of Windows 7 SP1 at least 10 times, each of them do not reach the exact spot. Windows won't INSTALL, so that steps can be taken?

    As I posted earlier, I had problems with installing Windows 7 on my laptop HP Pavilion Dv7 after replacing a hard drive defective. I ordered the kit of training materials ($60) and the operating system of restoration kit (essentially Windows 7 and drivers) on a 4 disc set. I paid the extra money for all accelerated for me.

    After you have installed a 120 GB SSD and the new 1 TB drive 7200 RPM, I tried to install the operating system using the DVD restore I ordered. Each installation took about 4 hours and each of the 3 times (i.e. 12 hours!) installation has failed at the end of the installation process. Then I downloaded a clean version of Windows 7 ISO and burned a bootable USB an attempt installs another 15, which also failed at the end of the installation process.

    In desperation, I contacted HP support and was informed that I had to pay for technical support. I must say that I was really disappointed by HP and HP «each incident» support I spent $59 and 3 hours talk with some idiots in the new Delhli, who accompanied me through a few tests of BIOS of base no matter what 3-year-old could have understood, I sent them a picture of the BSOD and error code, and they arrived at their 'solution' to send me my laptop to HP for them to install a new hard drive and reinstall the operating system for the pittance of $200 and 7 to 9 days!

    I refused their generous offer to relieve myself of the burden of $ 200 in my wallet and took the laptop to Fry when I bought it. After 15 minutes of discussion about my question, the tech told me that I needed to install the Intel drivers during the installation of Windows 7. He popped a USB key containing the Intel drivers, I've needed, continued with the installation of Windows 7, and I was back at home with a working machine within the hour. It cost me $35. A BARGAIN, given that HP, the company that BUILT my laptop was completely distraught about this problem and the only solution was to deprive me of my laptop for 9 days and during this time, charge me $200.

    So to all who read this, please pay NOT for the HP "per incident" support. They are slightly educated idiots who know no more about the HP product than your typical 3 yr old child. For example, they suggested that the HP laptop in my possession was "very sensitive" and I wouldn't be able to put 'any hard disk that was not exactly to the same specification as that was in it from the factory'.  Idiots.

    I you need to re - install Windows 7 on your laptop, visit the Intel website and download "floppy" (i.e. not the executable versions which self install) versions of their drivers for your laptop, load on a USB stick and when begins the installation of Windows 7 where it asks if you want to load the drivers, select the drivers on your USB key and installation will be smooth.

    Again, how is it possible that HP and their support forums are not aware of the problem or the solution? Seriously. This is probably the last HP I buy. Just exhausting and annoying to deal with this.

    Craig

    PS - My HP Pavillion DV7 is smoking quickly with the new solid-state drive and updated 7200 RPM secondary drive. * beep * thing boots like 20 seconds and Photoshop load almost INSTANTLY. Incredible.

  • Reinstall Vista upgrade Express of Business to ultimate after hard drive crash

    When I bought my first computer at Dell, it had Windows Vista Business installed on the computer.  Shortly after the purchase, I bought an upgrade on Amazon.com to upgrade to Vista Ultimate.  I remember that when I upgraded, a file has been downloaded and executed on the computer that has provided the additional functionality of Vista Ultimate.  The file is stored in my service digital locker.  I think I have the product key that was used after the upgrade (it of in my notes, but does not match the original product code which is on the side of my computer).  In any case, the hard drive crashed and I reinstalled windows vista professional, on the recovery provided by Dell CD.  However, I can't seem to find a way to present a new request the ultimate improvement to the computer (it only gives me vista professional).  Now that the digital locker is gone, I can't recover this file and emails informing her service digital locker went went to an old email account I'm not "check very often (I located the email I was trying to research on mine)."

    Can someone provide me with instructions on how to apply a full new vista computer?  If I think I have the product key for the upgrade, is it possible for this punch in and extract the upgrade feature?  Thanks in advance!

  • Reinstalling after hard drive crash

    My son's hard drive crashed. We have installed a new drive is in any way to get windows vista comes with the purchase of a new copy.

    There is no Vista free download legal available.

    Contact your computer manufacturer and ask them to send a recovery disk/s Vista set.

    Normally, they do this for a cost of $ small.

    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
    Or borrow a good Microsoft Vista DVD (not Dell, HP, etc).
    A good Vista DVD contains all versions of Vista.
    The product key determines which version of Vista is installed.
    There are 2 disks of Vista: one for 32-bit operating system, and one for 64-bit operating system.
    If install a cleaning is required with a good DVD of Vista (not HP, Dell recovery disks):
    Go to your Bios/Setup, or the Boot Menu at startup and change the Boot order to make the DVD/CD drive 1st in the boot order, then reboot with the disk in the drive.
    At the startup/power on you should see at the bottom of the screen either F2 or DELETE, go to Setup/Bios or F12 for the Boot Menu
  • Satellite A100: Cannot install recovery after having deleted the Ubuntu partition
    Hello friends,
    I have the Satellite A 100. I was using dual OS - windows vista home edition and Ubuntu. Now I wanted to remove Ubuntu and so I did the stupidest thing - directly delete the partition with Ubuntu which had the GRUB files. Then to the laptop computer restart of course the Grub bootloader wasn't there and if the computer is not started or load any OS. Then I thought that I will reinstall Vista with product recovery CD but the progress reached at 2% and then I keep getting error 1117 a failure to read. I tried so many times without success. I even tried to install XP, but it says Intel boot agent cannot make connection. And it also fails.
    Please help to reinstall Vista or XP. I'm really stuck and I learned a lesson not to tinker in mobile when it isn't those of Cup of tea!
    Any help is greatly appreciated.
    Thank you!
    > Now if I download EasyBCD how would I be able to run it or how should I use it?
    You will not be able to run EasyBCD because you are not able to boot Vista.
    EasyBCD can be installed only in Vista and will allow you to change the Vista Boot Manager.
    I think you need to format the entire disk HARD again should erase all partitions and must attempt to reinstall Vista.
    I recommend using a free tool called GParted LiveCD. Google for what it helps format the HARD drive!
  • Satellite A200-193 - installing an extra HARD drive
    Hello
    I have a Satellite A200-193 and I would like to install one additional go 160 HARD drive into the free location.
    The problem is that there is no SATA connector to this place (switch on the motherboard, not more).
    I know there are computer A200 laptop with a second HDD and my question is "if I go into an official TOSHIBA Service Center, it is possible to install a SATA connector in this free site, this is to allow the installation of additional HARD drive?
    If someone could help me on this point, it would be great.
    Thank you.
    Hi Mathieu
    I see that you are a bit confused ;)
    As you known t n, there are probably different Satellite A200 series a series helps the second HARD drive upgrade and some A200 series cannot be upgraded
    But the A200 series was equipped with the same laptop covers
    This means that you will find the second drive HARD on all mobile A200 Bay but the drive HARD (SATA) connectors don t exist on each series.
    It seems that your laptop cannot be upgraded with the second HARD disk because of the second missing HARD drive interface.
    I hope I can clarify this confusing question ;)
    Good bye
  • Satellite A300 - cannot read the second HARD drive
    Greetings from the Spain,
    I got 1 month there is a serious problem with my laptop (which is 5 months old), associated with crcdisk.sys.
    I gave up after several hours studying, and send the computer serving techniques. (Vista was does not load and no recovery was possible)
    Technical services changed 1 hard drive and the motherboard (don't ask me why)
    This computer cams with 2 HD (these 2 devices)
    The first has a recovery partition.
    The problem now is that I see the second HD (D :) but I can't read or access it.)
    However, McAfee, it can scan and I can see the names of files (they were there before sending it to T.Service) during the scan.
    The only solution I have Toshiba is "send it back", but with the previous experience I've had with this guy, maybe now they put a new keyboard and wait another month...
    Any ideas?
    Thank you
    _Update_
    Now I can read the second disc of Internet expolrer..., i.e. D:\documents... I read a few videos, I got there and seems to work.
    However, I cannot read with ordinary windows Explorer or cannot write files from any program.
    BTW. I can access from the Explorer, but just the files, i.e. d:\documents\letters, but not to the root?
    You have installed the laptop with the recovery disk? Try this!
    What operating system do you use? If you are using Vista control this information from Toshiba:
    Ok
    complete failure of the hard drive, no recovery cd was created, reloaded windows 7, looked up and downloaded the drivers from Toshiba, BUT there are only two video drivers listed, amd and Intel, both marked "for model only supported" its an Intel machine so I tried the Intel driver but it doesn't install, it just closes which I believe if the corresponding material is not found is the default action for these drivers.
    But I'm stuck with 'standard VGA graphics adapt' all other drivers loaded perfectly, (I installed the driver from chipset Intel first and rebooted, so it should be ok but it s not)
    Hello
    > Current display driver: Mobile Intel (r) Express ChipSet Family 945GM
    And then you want to install a nVidia display driver?
    LOL :D
    I think that you can not install a nVidia display driver because your laptop is equipped with an Intel chipset and graphics card.
    You will never be able to install nVidia display driver and thus make the message that you do not have the correct material.
    Intel and nVidia graphics cards graphics cards are different things, so don't mix do not!
    Some P105 was equipped with nVidia cards and others with Intel card and it seems that you have an Intel card.
