Satellite A30 hard drive upgrade

Hello

I would like to know if there is a panel that is easy to open to upgrade the hard drive?

If not, then how to open Notepad in order to improve memory?

MUCHAS gracias...

Hi Omar,.

Your hard drive is in the DVD-ROM on the bottom of your A30. To access it, you need to remove the DVD-ROM first by unscrewing the screws marked F5 on the bottom of your device. The DVD-ROM will then slide toward the front of your A30.

With the DVD - ROM removed the hard drive will be visible fixed by four screws Phillips. Remove these screws and gently slide the hard drive toward the front of the laptop to free the pins is connecting.

To upgrade the memeory that you will need to remove the small cover on the bottom of the laptop (held in by two small screws. We then see the RAM modules. The details on how to remove/replace the in your online user manual.

    Hello

Recovery of my Satellite A30 CDs become damaged so I acquired a full oem version of XP Home and installed after activation etc, I installed the drivers provided by the tools and utilities CDROM, but after installation the HDD is really slow, it takes 15 minutes to start and has a time, there is nothing wrong with the hard drive that I placed in a casing external and tested , and he turned to normal speed etc.
Does anyone have an idea about this problem? #

    Thank you

    Ewan

    Hello Ewan

It is not easy to say what the problem is here. Are you sure that the HARD drive is OK 100%. I recommend you scan the HARD drive and see if there may be some bad sectors. I had a similar situation with my old 1800 satellite. In the beginning, everything is ok, but with more content and more on the drive HARD, HARD drive was slower and slower.

15 minutes to boot after installation of clean operating system is really strange.

  • Satellite A30: HARD drive, modem and USB controller

Hi, I have problems with my laptop A30. The HARD drive looks like it will fail (bad sectors) utility that I downloaded on the Hitachi site tells me that it is a hardware failure.

I am also unable to use my modem that I also get a "cannot open port ' error even if everything looks fine in Device Manager and I have a problem with a USB controller that is apparently not entirely installed but I can not find the drivers for it!

I am not a happy customer of Toshiba and it seems that there is a general failure with these the 30 GB Hitachi hard drives!

    Retro Hi,

Maybe not much consolation, but my original 30 GB hard drive has been replaced after only 6 weeks of use. The replacement lasted 8 weeks and the third disc rotate a little better at 16 weeks. Readers were a mixture of Toshiba and Hitachi drives. After the failure of the third car, I decided to buy a bigger HDD (80 GB) and install it myself rather than lose the laptop for another two weeks so that it has been repaired. Then, I bought a new smaller HARD drive that I have installed in an external enclosure (USB) which I use now for regular backups of entire system weekly.

The HARD drive inside my A30 notebook on the right side directly on the optical drive, and there was a noticeable temperature increase when I work with the optical drive. I have a theory for pets, this increase in heat may adversely affect the HARD drive at times.

The last drive (a Toshiba MK8025GAS) is in place for 7 months but Norton Ghost has recently begun to report bad sectors so it looks like a new drive could soon be made to order.

  • Satellite L300 - hard drive upgrade

    Hey guys,.

I had a quick search, but I'm sorry if this has already been asked and answered successfully... But anyway.

My girlfriend has easily filled its 120 GB hard drive and wants to expand. I see that it can be improved in two other sizes (including the 360 GB), but which is the maximum? I am able to get a hard drive say 500 GB/1 TB in size?

    Thanks in advance.

    Hello

Satellite L300 supports SATA HDDs and this means that there is no capacity limit. So, you can also install disk 500 GB or 1 TB, which should be no problem.

Interface SATA has no capacity limits older IDE interface so Don t worry about the size. Just buy a model that you think that it s ok. It is only important that it s 2.5 HARD drive with SATA interface.

    Hello

Have unfortunately not find specific info, but I'm sure you can use 6 or even 10 GB HARD drive. If you want to be sure to contact the Service partner in your country or research on the net some supplier of HARD drive. They have this kind of information.

  • Satellite A100 - hard drive upgrade

    Hi all

I want to improve my Satellite A100-847 with disk bigger and harder. I chose hitachi "travelstar", like the original, but running on 7200 RPM. My question is can I use SATA II 3 Gb/s model, or should I choose SATA I 1.5 Gb/s as the original. because if my laptop does not support SATA II, the hard drive will not work.

    Thanks in advance!

Well, as far as I know the A100-847 supports a SATA interface.
SATA II drives are backward compatible, but may not work with some older motherboards.

If I you would be then I would not risk compatibility problems and choose the SATA/150 (SATA I) HARD drive.
In this case, you can be sure that your new HARD drive would be recognized correctly.

In addition, you must make sure that your new HARD drive size would be too strong.
The fact is that not all HARD drive sizes are supported by the BIOS.

You device was equipped with a 100 GB HARD drive. Am I wrong? Well, in this case, you might try some 120GB, 160GB and maybe a 200 GB HARD drive.

    Best regards

  • Satellite L40 - HARD drive upgrade

    So, I have a Toshiba MK8037GSX in a Toshiba L40 laptop.
I would like to be updated on the drive hard Toshiba MK2552GSX.

My question is if I have compatibility problems...
The older MK8037GSX ATA-7, while MK2552GSX, is ATA - 8. No problem with that?

Should I do anything else in addition to taking on the old hdd and put it in the new?
It will interfere with the big cable that connects to the hard drive, I have to change it?

    Hello

No, you should not get problems using ATA-8 HARD drive.
The point is that the SATA controller is down.
Means that you can use SATA I and SATA II HDD without any big problems

    > Will I have to do any other thing in addition to taking on the old hdd and put it in the new?
No, after the HARD drive has been connected to the laptop, go into the BIOS and check if it s is recognized correctly. The new installation of the operating system should not be a problem as well. The installation disc must format the HARD drive and you could install the operating system.

  • Satellite A50-111 - HARD drive upgrade

    Hello!

I need to upgrade hard drive of my laptop because it is very slow. However, I know it's a 60 GB to factory-installed 4200 RPM.
I'm ready to be upgraded to a fast 7200 RPM, if possible, with a decent capacity, but I'm not sure of the supported hard drive type (IDE?, 2.5?) is a model of 5 years. In my view, there are incompatibilities with the laptops today, hard drive formats, so I really need help.
Thank you very much for your help!

    Hey Buddy,

In my opinion the HARD drive upgrade will not increase performance well then you should try the other options first as reinstalling Windows, or upgrade the RAM.

Anyway, Satellite A50 use IDE interface, so you can use hard disks of 120 GB of disk space.
Of course, you can take a model at 7200 RPM, but they need more energy and produce more noise.
    I recommend a 120 GB 5400 RPM model. That s pretty fast!

    Hello

I found the info your device comes with 40 GB IDE (ATA - 5) HARD drive. I think in your case, to capacity. High-capacity hard drives are not recognized properly, but I think that with 60 or 80 GB HDD should perhaps be recognized correctly.

If anyone on this forum can give you accurate information, I recommend you contact your local dealer or service in your country. They are experts upgrade material and they have accurate info on HARD drive upgrade.

  • Update on Satellite L850 HARD drive

    Hello

I bought Toshiba Satellite L850-A846 already for several months and my hard is completely filled
and the cause of the nature of my work, I can't buy an external hard

So I wonder if I can replace my hard intern (640g) with (2 t)
I don't know my motherboard type and if it is compatible or not?

Also, I want to know if I can do it. Will this void my warranty license?

My number if you want to:
    PSKDLV

Problem is that Toshiba doesn't provide any update list where you can find a list of compatible parts that can be improved.
Still, HARD drive upgrade can be done by the owner for s (described in the manuals) laptop and it will not void phone warranty s.

To find out what drives and what capacity max can be problematic.
You can just hope that someone here has any experience with this and will issue a brief report.
Otherwise, you can try to contact the nearest Toshiba service provider and ask for help. Maybe they can help you with all this.

HP 6470 b 2nd hard drive upgrade. How fast this port works on? SATA I, II or III

I want to put in a 60 GB SSD into the CD slot and want to see how fast it will support as this will be used for the Cache

    Thank you

The published information is not explicit; He says only: SATA for the expansion Bay while the main hard drive Bay expressly says SATA-III. However, given that this isn't just an optical drive Bay, but also a general 'Bay expansion', it is safe to assume it of on the same SATA bus as main drive and is a SATA III interface.

    Data sheet

6470b is also supposed to have a slot for a WSSD mSATA, but he is not described in the Manual:

    Manual

Obviously the WSSD would work better for cache but you can use a 60 gig SSD in an expansion bay for both cache adapter. Even if the connection is SATA-II, it will be much faster to work for a cache of acceleration.

  • Upgrade the HARD drive, memory and display on Satellite A30 921 driver

I got a model a30-921, satellite phone for two years now. I would ask someone who could help me how to put my hard drive from 40 to the majority and the memory to 1 g. and also where can I find the latest driver for ati mobility radeon igp 9000.

Thank you and looking forward to here from you soon.

    Hi Remelito,

I use a 80 GB hard drive in my SA30 and I suspect it would probably work with a 100 GB drive. However, as portable hard drives tend to suffer ruptures busiest I think their close office 80 GB is perfectly o.k. for me. I tend to have 25-30 GB used with the rest of the temporary files during editing of the videos etc. The hard drive in the A30 is usually under the optical drive to remove all first in order to access the hard drive.

Your A30 can be upgraded to a maximum of 2 GB of RAM in two slots. Currently, you will have 2 X 128 MB or 2 X 256 MB modules of RAM installed. You can get the modules of memory in the sizes of 128 MB, 256 MB, 512 MB or 1 GB. the following URL provides information on reference numbers (the United Kingdom site), but you can Google for a suitable provider.

Toshiba unfortunately do not provide regular updates to their display drivers (at least in my experience). Like you, I have an ATI Mobility Radeon 9000IGP in my SA30 and I resorted to a driver Omega catalyst in order to play newer games. I ran this Omega driver for many months now with still no Bul.
