Satellite A30, PC shutdown due to overheating of the CPU

My Satellite A30 has a new problem, the PC shuts down due to overheating.
Fans are set to Max Performance. The cooling fans are not blocked by dust.
I think that the CPU is overheating for some reason any.
Can someone explain what parameters can be modified to avoid this problem?
I also saw that the other Toshiba PC needed a BIOS upgrade, it will be necessary for the A30?

Hello David

Your device is certainly full of dust and cannot be properly cooled. If I remember the unit has two vents on the lower part. The must be removed and cleaned properly.

Trust me on this machine, the dust is placed behind the fans and if you look they seems to be clean, but they are not. Contact the customer Service of your country partner. The cleaning procedure takes about 20-30 minutes. I can't imagine that it will be expensive.

Good bye

    Hello

For me, it looks like overheating and not as a software problem!
Usually, all Toshiba laptops support an overheating protection. This feature stops the laptop automatically to avoid material damage!

I think that don t cooling modules work correctly and therefore the temperature rises to a higher level. Especially the dust blocks the cooling fans!

So, in my opinion, you should try to clean the fans.
Vacuuming can help! But be careful! The strong suction can damage the fan!

    Hello.
I am facing this problem of overheating since the last 3 years and it is getting worse with every passing summer.

Whenever I have run a software or try to play a game on this laptop he gets shutdown. The body is not physically warm enough for a hot machine. I also changed the thermal paste about 6 months ago. I worked pretty well in the first week but right after that one week he began to do the same thing again. Now, even when there is no load on the CPU and I launch the web browser or any other software, its CPU temperature starts rising and only about 90 degrees Celsius, it turns off.

It's really frustrating because I can't do assignments or other everything works fine on my machine. Kindly help me and tell me what should I do to fix this problem.

    Hello

There is not much to explain. On the low side in the Middle it is placed to cover memory (fixed with two screws). Remove the cover and you will see 2 slots there. • Satellite P30 133 blocks due to overheating

I have a P30-133 which overheats and crashes regularly. It will not work on a flat surface, it must be away from any surface to give fans a chance to cool enough. Is this a known issue with the P30-133 and, if so, is it possible to solve?

I also notice that my battery not upward. These problems could be related?

    Hello

I don't want to speculate on known issues, but what I know is that Satellite P30 is very old model of laptop. It takes about 6 years. If your laptop has never been cleaned, I imagine that the cooling system is full of dust.

I phone 4 years old and I already cleaned 2 times. You can't imagine how many dust I found inside.
I can imagine, is that, after so long time, the small rubber feet down are slim now and there is not enough space between you laptop and the desktop. What I do is to rehabilitate the part of the laptop to two boxes of music CD and then there is more space and portable can be cooled a lot better.

Think about these two things. Maybe it will help you.

  • Satellite A30 does not see other devices in the wireless network

I recently bought a Toshiba Wireless LAN Mini PCI Card, I installed and was able to recognize my broadband, but he does not see the other network devices. I have not provided with drivers or software for the operation of the card (I bought a decent retailer). Can you recommend me to downloads that would be this card?

I have a laptop of Satelite A30 1 GB ram 60 GB HDD.

Large files sometimes also stop transfer (crashes) when you use my USB connection. The usb controller uses the driver microsoft 5.1.2600.0 dated June 1, 2002.

    Is this a driver problem?

    Hello

If the wireless network adapter is properly installed if you have not configured you.
I put t know which devices in broadband services, you want to say but generally if you want to communicate or transfer files between laptops through the WiFi network so all the computers must be in the same domain or workgroup.

I can't give you a correct answer, but only a suggestion. I have red that sometimes a lower potency could be responsible for this show. Try turning off the safe power option in the properties of the hub USB root in Device Manager.

  • Satellite A30 PSA33E - his correct and missing on the page of Toshiba modem drivers

    Hello

I just installed XP on a laptop the A30/PSA33E of opportunity (do not have a recovery CD) from scratch.
Also, I added all Toshibas page driver drivers.
Everything worked nice - except the audio and modem (in the list of devices XP exclamation point),
because XP has refused to install the drivers of Toshibas web site ("not the right driver for this hardware").

After investigating the thing more far away (I work as a programmer, so I don't know that sort of thing)
I could understand that XP is right - drivers do not fit the material in my laptop.

For example - PCI vendor-ID for the modem is 0 x 1002, device ID is 0x434D.
But if you look at the ".inf" - files from the (two) avaiable-for the A30 modem drivers
This PCI device is not supported by one of the two drivers.

For audio I could use from the site Web of Realtek audio Realtek AC97 drivers to work around the problem,
but I have no idea on how to find a working driver for the modem (soft-).

Does anyone have a suggestion on how to fix this?

    Hello

I can't believe that you're not able to install the modem driver.
For several years the A30 and the drivers are available on the market and all the drivers worked.
Yes, I think it s has only an installation problem.

All the drivers, tools and utilities must be installed in the correct order!
The chipset utility is important and must be installed at the beginning.

Ask driver for modem? Well, I found the modem drivers Toshiba page for different countries.
For example; the version of the driver 2122ALL05 and 31116ALL5 is available for the United Kingdom. Check these two versions.

To my knowledge the laptop uses a modem chip Askey of Agere Company.
If you want you can search for a driver that supports this type of chip

    Good luck

  • Edge of overheating of the CPU 545

    Hello

I wonder what is the operating temperature standard of the Thinkpad Edge 545, which has the dual amd processor core clocked at 2.9 GHz, because mine revolves around 85-105 degrees C right out of the box. Any help is appreciated.

If the fan runs at maximum speed, it will be too noisy, bearable during the noisy games, but not for editing documents or browsing the internet.

There is a useful presentation on the thermal management of the latest AMD processors to http://www.hotchips.org/wp-content/uploads/hc_archives/hc25/HC25.30-SoC2-epub/HC25.26.312-Richland_H...

This suggests that for your A6 - 5350M 2.9 GHz APU temperatures around the 100 c are not a problem.

  • Satellite A30 stops due to overheating

My Satellite A30 cutout due to overheating.
The cooling fans are free of dust.
    I put the Max-performance cooling.
Is there another reason of overheating?

    Hi David,

Everything that hinders the free movement of air across the processor HEAT SINK cooling will have the effect you describe. The problem is that dust can not be seen by looking at the fan grids because she has built up inside the unit. The easy way to remove it is to use a vacuum cleaner hose from the cleaner to the grids of aspiration air (using a piece of cloth to maximize suction). This should make the fans running at very high speed and can produce a WAD of debris inside the grids you'll need to choose carefully.

To be really complete, you need to remove the radiator cover (adjacent to the grids of aspiration and locked by two "torx" screws). With the cover removed, you will be able to see the heat sink itself fixed by four Phillips head screws (two on each side), delete them and remove the heat sink. Note that it will stick to the CPU because of thermal paste used during Assembly. DO NOT REMOVE THE DOUGH. Once the heatsink is removed, you will be able to see an accumulation of debris.

Reassembly is the reverse of the uninstall, but note sequence on the heat sink numbers, so that you can tighten the screws in the correct order.

    Kind regards

  • Satellite A30: Replace keyboard

    Hello
We have a Satellite A30 but dropped to a file of the box on this subject, and the J and K keys broke off the coast.
A key may be repairable, but the other's definitely got some plastic broken on the rods.

The machine is now out of big but I'm good enough with repairs PC but PC, no cell phones!

I'm guessing that a replacement keyboard will be easier to fix than the keys themselves. I saw them on the net for A £39 + VAT. All that miss me are many instructions on the removal of the keyboard and replace it. Instructions and guides are available for the A30 Saturday?

    Thanks in advance,

    Chris

    Hello

The keyboard can be ordered from the Toshiba ASP in your country.

If you want to remove the keyboard, you must first remove the thin plastic above the F1 - F12 buttons. Under this coverage, you will find 2 screws which fix the keyboard. These screws must be removed.
After that the two screws were removed, you could take the keyboard.
But be careful; It s connected to the motherboard with the flat cable which you should remove everything first!

    Good bye

  • Upgrading the Bios on Satellite A30

Can someone tell me please how can I update my bios apparently Toshiba seem to be wrong. OM my Satellite A30 using XP Pro I started having the blue screen everytime I turn on and he told me that there is something missing or incorrect in the Bios and it must be upgraded. I downloaded the correct update of Toshiba on my desktop Pc and followed the instructions which are

Extract the zip file containing the BIOS upgrade to a temporary folder.

Insert a 1.44 MB diskette formatted in the floppy drive.

Run the *.exe extracted to the temporary folder. Follow the instructions on the screen. A BIOS update diskette will be generated.

Make sure that the laptop is plugged into the sector.

    Turn off the laptop.

Place the floppy disk containing the BIOS upgrade in the floppy drive.

Turn on the laptop with the F12 key.

The BIOS boot menu appears. Select 'Removable Device', 'USB Floppy Drive' or the diskette symbol using arrow keys. Press "enter".

Notepad starts from the BIOS upgrade diskette.

The BIOS update will automatically launch.

After a few minutes, as the laptop turns off automatically, remove the disk and do a restart. If it does not then remove the disk and turn off the system and return to restart the laptop.

I did the first parts of the above, but when I try and run the file to a floppy disk on my desktop, the program seems to think that I am trying to upgrade the bios on this machine and of course, I get an error message and am not able to create a floppy disk. Can someone please?

    Hello

so, this BIOS is a bios "Windows update". This means that the Bios will be updated in windows and not with a floppy disk. I don't know why toshiba is to give such instructions, but I believe that they didn t update since these new BIOS instructions.

What version of Bios you downloaded? It should be the version 1.80. In the case of this version, just unpack the file in a folder in the zip and run it. They deposit with unzip itself C:\Windows\Temp\Winphlash and run the bios update procedure.

So, please try again and give me a 'big picture on your situation":)

    Welcome them

  • Satellite A30 - sound began to deteriorate

    Hello

I have a Toshiba Satellite A30 Latop (Service Pack 3) and, recently, the noise began to deteriorate and sometimes I have no sound at all if I was using the laptop for a while.

A reboot seems to fix the problem, but after 30 minutes, do it again, it's a mix of sound warping/slow down down/cracking.
The noise issue occurs if I play music through the speakers of the laptop or through headphone plug headphones or my hi-fi amp.

I reinstalled XP and updated through Windows update to the last parameters, but the problem is still there, not sure if it's a sound card problem or if it's the speakers or something else.
