Satellite A300 - after update BIOS black screen

Hi all
I just applied the update to the BIOS on my Satellite A300. After the update is successful, the system carries out a restart. Now when I try to start it I get no display, I can hear the proceedings to hear it, the CD player, the DVD, playback led flashes.

The ASP Toshiba rang me (phone call), the motherboard must be replaced after a bios update, but it is very expensive for me :(
Please can you tell me if they are a way to fix it without replacing the motherboard? The bios is an Insyde and according to the site Internet the bios bios [recovery technology | http://www.insydesw.com/press/2008/press_060308.htm]. I guess that the ASP does not know that.

Please can you tell me how to start the recovery procedure it is possible (combination?),.
Any help on fixing the laptop without replacing the motherboard will be much appreciated.

Hello!

I think that the ASP is just and in the worst cases, the motherboard should be replaced.

You can try to remove the battery and the AC adapter. Wait one hour and then connect the AC adapter and the battery and try again.

If it doesn't work you should go to an ASP. Perhaps a BIOS reset can solve the problem, but it can be done from an ASP.

Good bye

  • Satellite A300 - after the BIOS update I can not install two OS

    Hello everyone:

I bought a laptop Toshiba Satellite A300-247 with Windows Vista Home Premium.

Then I formatted it and divided the hard (320 GB) into 6 partitions and installed Windows Vista and Windows XP on drive C to drive D after having changed the SATA controller mode in the BIOS for compatibility. The computer worked well with 2 operating systems. However, when I updated the BIOS to version 1.9, two operating systems stop working and one of them can be installed: XP can be installed when SATA controller mode is placed on compatibility and Vista can be installed only when the SATA is changed to AHCI.

Is there is no explanation of what past? And can I install operating systems 2 together again?

    Thank you

    Hello

First of all, I doubt that this has something to do with the BIOS update. I think that after the BIOS update HARD drive mode has been changed from AHCI to compatibility and therefore the OS didn't start.

Anyway, in compatibility mode you can install Vista and XP without the SATA drivers. This should t be a problem.

But do you know the difference between compatibility and AHCI? AHCI mode is faster and therefore I would recommend this mode.
Like you said Vista you can already install in AHCI mode and for XP, you need Intel Storage Manager. This package includes the SATA drivers you need and here is a step by step guide to use these drivers:
    http://APS2.toshiba-tro.de/KB0/HTD9401AN0000R01.htm

Last but not least, you can install 2 OS. You can do what you want! ;)

  • Satellite L300 - update BIOS black screen caused to go

Got Tempro opinion on Satellite L300 Bios upgrade. During the upgrade installation, laptop rebooted by itself. Result is fresh light on and power light, fan turns but black screen. What should I do to recover the machine.

    Try this:

Remove the battery and the AC and let sit for an hour, then try to start again.
Open memory cover and remove the second Module of RAM (or change the size of the RAM). This may reset the system and startup.

If this fails, the BIOS was damaged, in which case you will have to send the laptop to an ASP for repair.

I chose the option "start windows normally". Since (I assume) the laptop does not drive. Any, I have to start from there. Everything else works fine.

It is because of the update of the BIOS, or something else could cause this problem? Any idea or help appreciated!

The optical drive is recognized from the BIOS?
You can read the disc in Windows?

I try to get my 15-d017cl to start after upgrading the bios, here's what happened:

    Help!

    Hi mscir,.

You make the W + B bad smell!

First thing, it's that you need to load the BIOS DEFAULT settings

You turn the computer off (if its currently turned off the coast)

Turn it back on, then press the ESC far away so that you can access the START MENU

Press F10, press F9 and then press F10 to save the changes and then press on enter if you are prompted.

If the fix above does not solve your problem, then perform emergency Bios dump

Many computers of portable HP have a BIOS for emergency recovery feature that allows to retrieve and install the latest well-known version of the BIOS from the hard drive, as long as the hard drive remains functional. This emergency recovery feature is separated from the BIOS and is designed to operate in the event of a catastrophic failure of the BIOS.

    > If I decide to upgrade, what are the benefits? It is really necessary or just recommended?
The BIOS update is recommended only if you have problems with your laptop.
If your laptop is running properly, then a BIOS update is not necessary!

    > Besides, if I would upgrade with a new 500 GB hard drive, it works correctly with the 1.70 bios or new HDD needs higher BIOS?
The new HARD drive should be recognized by the BIOS correctly event it s an old version.
It's not easy to say what HARD drive is the best.
Usually faster HARD drive with rpm higher can be stronger and can develop more heat as a slower HARD drive.

But in most cases it is not question of speed, HARD drive is it shouldn't t be a temperature problem

    Hello

No won´t you be able to recover the old BIOS. The only two options are:

    1. try to update BIOS and check if it work s
    2. in the case of no success, please visit the [ASP Locator | http://eu.computers.toshiba-europe.com/cgi-bin/ToshibaCSG/generic_content.jsp?service=EU&ID=ASP_SUPPORT] to search for the nearest ASP in your country and ask them for a checkup of material and repair.

  • Satellite A200 (PSAE0C-AH308C) - after the BIOS black screen update

    Hello

I have a Toshiba Satellite (model No. A200; Part No. PSAE0C - AH308C) and to install Windows XP on a version already corrupted Vista (which had 4 partitions, that have been corrected, erased, then reformatted in a solid block). Now, I have installed all the appropriate drivers off Toshiba Canada support site...

Everything worked, but I wanted to see in Windows (since I just got this computer) if everything was in place and working normally until I installed Ubuntu... Then I did the update to the BIOS flash. The program is supported in two formats, one for Vista and one for XP... for XP has a more high at 5.20 and Vista BIOS version the 1.80 revision of BIOS... that are marked as being updated by the Toshiba site. I opted to download the latest version of the BIOS.

Things got ugly as soon as I unzipped the self-extracting program. First of all he said he could not find a .dll file (even if it is clear from there), so that seemed as if it started to Flash the BIOS but has not finished (it was just what happened when I opened the program)... I think he got to the ROM of compensation but did not have any code in there... Windows attempted to close the program because he did not respond, and I tried to take the program... had the same .dll error, but this time, the screen of the program was just gray...

Given that this program is not Flash the BIOS unless the user selects the button "Flash BIOS", I have reason to believe that it was a bug in the program, or a combination of it and Windows comes to interfere (no program were running at the time, while he was supposed to be a dedicated flash). I can only flash in the Win.

Now, I rebooted the computer, twice... the screen turns black, the HARD disc spins, the DVD drive has done his usual clicking sound when the computer starts, but it seems to stop as there is no BIOS entact.

Can I replace the BIOS chip? There is no way for me to access the BIOS at all.

Thanks for any help on this

    Thank you & best regards

    Hello

Unfortunately, the BIOS update has failed and now BIOS is damaged. For this reason, you cannot start and use your laptop. I agree with Luke. Please contact nearest Toshiba authorized maintainer and ask for help. Talk with them and I am sure that you will find the best solution to this problem.

Satellite A200 is quite long on the market and it is hard to believe that updating the BIOS on the Canadian page may have a bug. All updates are tested and used by millions of users and service providers. If there is something wrong, I do not believe that this update will be available on the page of public support.

In any case, contact the nearest service provider and explain the situation. Believe me this is the best thing you can do now.

    Good luck!

  • Update BIOS - black screen now on Satellite C660

First of all Hello first post. I have 2 laptops computers C660 girls 1 satellite crashed a while a go so she began using mines. Mine C665D now broke screen can see some of the screen. Decided to try first permutation screen not switch different connectors then swapped hardy Bank 665 to 660 and clean install win7 pro. Was good, but had no network drivers. Do not have another pc iPads allows only a bit difficult to download driver swapped so Hardrive back download driver 660 exchanged again for driver loaded all good work. Reading tips says update all drivers. Started at the top of the page of the Toshiba driver and did the bios update. Crash! During installation stop 'corrupts' BIOS and now will not start. Push button power led both come the fan starts and then just stops. Fact a little research, and it seems that the bios flash was not a good option, too bad it's on the driver download page, won't happen again. I tried to leave without battery f2 etc but still stops. Any help would be appreciated as I am defiantly out of my depth now. The two pieces currently in the laptop, but I'm pretty well on the menu drop-down put back together thing, tempted to bin then all but both will see if you guys can help.

A bit of an update might help others?
It seems that I need Ref lash the bios. From what I had read the reading process.
    1. make a bootable usb stick (at this stage now)
    2. download the bios. I downloaded back wi to be able to extract the files. There are 4 files as follows.
    1 bios. ROM 4 356 kalonji
2 BiosCheck 1 kalonji (it is a Notepad I read file)
    3. ec.ROM 128 kalonji
    4 configuration 1389 kalonji
Not exactly what file to be copied to a guess, I would say 1 but maybe all necessary?

    3. remove the hard drive and optical drive
4 remove battery insert bootable usb, apparently, it is imperative that you keep it F key kept in then plug power on keep pressing the button F let go after a certain time (30 seconds not sure how long I'll try) release the F key. If you have a USB stick with a light if it lights it is working, wait just restart the system and I hope that you can now enter the rest of the system.
I got my old Acer laptop installed fresh closet 7 win was running very slow spen so much more sorting, day was services using 100% cpu, Windows update, this turned out well and now pretty well I hope make bootable usb and put on the Flash Toshiba bios.
Feel free to add if I missed something.

  • Satellite C855D-135 - corrupt BIOS, black screen, keypad does not work

    Hello everyone.

I had some problems with my laptop Toshiba Satellite C855D-135. I had to change my internal hard drive, so I decided to install windows 7 on it (I used to have windows 8 but do not have the CD and I could not find the license key sticker).
So I went into the BIOS it go from UEFI to CSM, but something was not right and he seems to have corrupted the bios.
I think I have it bricked, but some things still work.

    When I turn it on:
-l' screen stays black (Yes, I tried it on another screen)
-the keyboard is not working (the leds do not turn when I press the caps lock)
    -the fan works fine
    -cd player works fine
-When I plug a USB key, it quickly flashes once, which seems to work
-When I removed the memory bar, the computer has done is the series of beeps

-J' tried to remove the battery, unplug and pressing the power button for centuries. (no luck)
-J' tried to remove the CMOS battery to restore default bios. (no luck)
-J' tried flashing the bios on a USB key, until I realized that the keyboard was not working and it was in vain.
-J' tried to update the bios on a CD and it ran for a while, but nothing happened in the end. I tried to put these files on the CD:
    -IBIOS. BAT
-C8610. FD (in the folder of Win8)
-C610. FD (in the WIN7 folder)
-J' tried to rename C8610. FD to the BIOS. FD

I am out of ideas now.
Could someone help me? Pretty please?
I hope that this is not the motherboard that broke, coz I really didn't have the money to send it off to be repaired.

In the history sounds very strange to me I never heard that that it would affect the BIOS to change the boot UEFI to MSC mode.
In my opinion, there is a serious hardware problem. As you already linked to, it would probably be a motherboard failure.

I recommend you to ask some technicians for hardware diagnostics to check the motherboard in order to be 100% sure about the fault.

If you n t have enough money and the motherboard is really affected you could try to recover a part of 2nd hand

  • Satellite P500 - after update BIOS on the numeric keypad does not work anymore

I just had a Satellite P500 and am running Windows 7. I downloaded all the latest drivers and updated the system BIOS to version 1.70 (from Toshiba support website). Now, my numeric keypad of the keyboard does not work.

The NumLock light is on and when I hit the key "6" on the pavement, he turns the power light, but the behavior of the other keys does not change that it is on or off. The '-' key to enter a '6', but none of the other keys (except "enter" does nothing.

I removed the keyboard driver and rebooted to reinstall the keyboard driver, but has no effect. The keyboard has worked for a few days after that I flashed the bios but seems to have stopped since I started using a USB mouse. I tried to uninstall the USB mouse driver, but who have nothing do either (it was a Logitech driver).

Anyone have any ideas? Thanks in advance

  • Satellite U400 - after update BIOS lighting lights

Since the update the BIOS on my U400-15E (Vista 32), lighting of the multimedia keys, touchpad always turn after the restart, recovery from the sleep or Hibernate. Touch the illuminance on the off button once does that second touch them will turn off until the next reboot.

Illumination is disabled in the configuration of the bios and also through HWsetup. After reboot/wake up, without touching the illumination button, accessing the illumination in HWSetup tab / illumination is shown as turned off even if it's on. Touch the power button can toggle illumination to without changing the real light on keyboard. Next key activates / deactivates them both off.

This isn't a pain important but very frustrating. Any ideas?

    Hello

A friend of mine had a similar problem with the buttons of the illumination and the reason was an update of Windows or software that is not compatible.
Anyway, he did also reinstall the VAP and updated the BIOS but no luck. At the end of the story he reinstalled Windows using recovery disc HARD option and everything worked very well.

Maybe a new facility with Toshiba Recovery disk or HARD drive recovery option can help you, buddy.
