Hi all, I have a Satellite A300, which gave me problems in the past few weeks...

    I use Windows Vista

There are about 2 months in the beginning of the laptop problem, it restarts itself automatically before enter in windows (while in the windows loading screen, no blue screen, screen just suddenly darkens and restarts itself), but it will get finally in windows successfully after a few loops

but about 3 weeks ago, it just keeps looping and never get into windows, good news, it is that it can capture mode safe without problem

I've done everything I can to try and save, as play with msconfig, drivers, removing the Rams etc, but not luck

so, I save everything in safe mode and decided to restore the machine factory, but the problem is that when I boot up the computer by pressing 0 and enters the recovery screen, reboot loop will happen!

any idea? or y at - it another way to restore to factory without touching the windows installed in my laptop? is it a hardware problem or software?

I thought about the creation of recovery disks but my cd drive is not working properly, and I don't want to take the risk of buying an external cd drive not knowing not if the problem can be solved...

    Thank you very much!

    >.. .i don't want to take the risk of buying an external cd drive not knowing not if the problem can be solved...
That of right, but you must understand that it is not easy on this virtual path to offer an accurate explanation and diagnosis for your problem.

It is not easy to tell whether it is hardware or software related issue. best way to test is installation of recovery image. Recovery image is tested and if there are no some portable hardware problem should work fine. How to install the recovery image, which you can read on http://aps2.toshiba-tro.de/kb0/HTD1303440001R02.htm

    >.. .or is there another way to restore to factory without touching the windows installed in my laptop?
Something like this is not possible. Windows that you use now needs to be reinstalled. I don't know why you the laptop restarts, but it's also the risk of recovery image installation. In case this recovery image installation will be interrupted, you will have two problems:
-image of original recovery saved on your HARD drive will be unusable
-you will not be able to start t

In your situation the best is to minimize this risk and have original recovery DVD that can be used if something goes wrong.
    > but the problem is that when I boot up the computer by pressing 0 and enters the recovery screen, reboot loop will happen!
Can you please explain what is exactly happening? Is - this laptop is simply cut off / go to the coast and then reboot again or what?

  • Satellite A300: cannot start: blocked by Phoenix TrustedCore Setup Utility

    {SUMMARY: "Phoenix TrustedCore Setup Utility" appears every time you start, requesting a non-existent password.} How to get rid of this request? }

This one is a little weird. We have a Tosh Satellite A300-193 mobile (Code manufacturer: PSAJ1E-01000XEN) purchased from July 2008 (via Getech educational scheme). We have (had) Kaspersky Anti-virus on this subject, but since his license has expired (and they didn't really like it), I was going to remove and install Avast.

Kasperky removal instructions involve have their tool "kavremove" who say their instructions must be run in safe mode. So, after downloading the tool, I pressed F8 to boot into safe mode...

... And that's where things went wrong. Instead of typical black screen startup options screen, I got a splash screen at the level type, with a request for password of "Phoenix TrustedCore Setup Utility. We have never set a password on this computer, and I've never seen this particular screen before. After three bad guess (of course they're wrong!, and it does not matter if I leave the field blank), the unit turns off.

Now when I turn it on, it just goes right to the request for password of Phoenix: I hit F2, F12, F8 or whatever it is. I can't establish why it should do, or how I can possibly bypass it. None of my password guess work (of course).

I googled for hours (literally), closes the thing, I could find were instructions in [a post on the forum USA | http://forums.toshiba.com/t5/Windows-Vista-Windows-XP/Satellite-A205-Cannot-Access-BIOS/m-p/123075#M7749]. It was a partial solution: we can start the machine with this procedure (phew!).

Unfortunately, it is not a permanent solution. After EACH stop, at the next start-up presents impossible demand "password." So it comes to pull the battery (again), to the phase of "discharging", battery, turn on and - it boots. Or at least, he has every time so far.

This is going to be extremely painful. Any tips or to tackle the problem of pointers, which would be welcome. I will never see this request for password "Setup Utility".

    Thank you!

    Hello

I think the password loss is the BIOS password.
I m wondering why this password is displayed when starting if you have not set it

However, the point is that the BIOS password can be removed if you n t know this password.
Unknown BIOS password can be removed by a Toshiba authorized service partner.

  • Keyboard Satellite A300 problem

I saw a lot of problems of keyboard with the series 'A' here, but not like this. In the middle of a chat session my keyboard getting different letters as I type. Worse, even the key enter got transposed to a different key, the 'h' Hey. So now I can not connect to windows because all keys are flawed. I could enter the repair system that Vista comes with and set it to the American keyboard type. The same problem. I even tried to load Linux, but the problem starts when the computer does, so I can't yet start the restore CD

Please let know us if any of you have seen this before. I'm going to call Toshiba technical support shortly, but I wanted to see if anyone of you had seen this before. Thank you very much for your help.

    CS

    Hi mate

I think that the issue cannot be resolved using the recovery disk
For me it seems that this problem of keyboard would also happen outside the Windows OS, it means that this has nothing to do with the software, the keyboard driver, etc.

I think it's a hardware problem simple keyboard and I think you should ask the ASP in your country for replacement of s.

A300 should always be covered by the guarantee, so the laptop must be set free

    Good luck and good weekend.

  • Satellite A300 - is the recovery disk contains all the drivers?

I bought a new Satellite A300 and now I have to reinstall Windows Vista. My question is:

Through the recovery disk I already have all the necessary drivers for my computer?
What I have to download them one by one in line?

    Thank you for your help

    Ciao

    Michele

    Hello

Yes, the Toshiba Recovery disk contains all the drivers and tools for your laptop. After using the Toshiba Recovery disk, you have the same settings that you have started the laptop the first (out of the box). This means that the disc contains a picture of the factory settings.

The disc is very easy to use: you only have to boot from it and follow the instructions on the screen. Windows, and all drivers will be reinstalled in a few minutes.

  • Re: Satellite A300 - error creating recovery disc

I'm not really providing any solution, but is facing a similar problem with my laptop Satellite A300-1EI, bought in Dubai, UNITED Arab Emirates. I tried to make records of recovery through Toshiba Recovery Disc Creator. However, each time, I got an error message. I tried with Verbatim, Philips DVD-R and lost several DVDs. Meanwhile on the net surfing, I discovered that the engraver of DVD from Toshiba is a little sensitive and try to use Verbatim DVD - R brand. I tried with Verbatim 2 days and at the last moment when I was about to dance with joy that the first DVD is created, received an error like below

    * "The following issue occurred during the recording of the data of the disc.*
    Current process will be stopped.*

    * A power calibration area error occurred.*
    * Please check if the disc is scratched or dirty.*
    * If Yes, please try again with a new disc.*

    "* (Error code: 0E01B5-26-00037304)."

I don't really understand the message. Can advise you on how to create the recovery disks.

    Kind regards
    Vijay

    Hello

To me, it seems that the used DVD discs are not completely supported by ODD.
It seems to be a compatibility issue.

I had this problem in the past, but I could resolve it using another DVD from another manufacturer.
I had a good experience with TDK DVD-R.
Using the R disk I was able to burn the disc, but using the + R I received an error message.

    See you soon

  • Satellite A300-1QD - start some time and memory errors won't test

    Hello

I have some real problems with a brand new satellite A300 1QD.
After update of Windows Vista Home Premium 64-bit (Service Pack2) Vista unbootable. After the reboot of forst, it showed a message:

    File: \windows\system32\winload.exe
    Status: 0xc0000221
Info: the file is corupt possibaly. the header checksum does not match the checksum calculated.

AprΦs the dΘmarrage of the original CD Vista Home Premium or the Systembuilder OEM another error appeared:

    Error: 0xc000000f
    Missing or damaged \Windows\system32\winload.exe

Does not even work by pressing F8 during startup. I have a chance to start even a repair because there is no option that I could choose.

After a few resets the A300 seems to have some problems.
A few times the display does not start, after the other it does not, start by hanging up during the automatic test etc.
I have reset the BIOS by default Options, but it does not help.

The A300 are one week. Am I allowed to remove a RAM bar without losing the warranty?
I have read that sometimes it helps. I was able to do a memtest software vista. It is said that some hardware conflicts appeared.

    I am desprate, please help.

    EDIT:
I did another test memory with linux 64 bit (openSUSE 11.1) and many erros occurred.
What can I do now? The laptop is a present fpr my girlfriend Monday 15. Can I order other RAM and return that broke with a Numbor RMA or something?

    EDIT2:
I recognized, that sometimes, when I start the laptop, the power led is the lightning to the top, but the satellite logo in the left corner remains dark.

Oh, by the way, excuse my English, I hope that I can make myself clear enough that you can help me ^^

I guess that you have solved this issue thank you for your comments mate!

  • Satellite A300 - and Vista recovery Question

I bought a Satellite A300 a few days previously, it automatically installed Vista without CD when I opened it.
Is it joint to come with a vista CD/DVD or I need to burn a Toshiba Recovery disk?

Pkozerski is right. Toshiba offers no support for recovery with new laptop models and this media must be created using the preinstalled recovery Toshiba creator tool.

To do this I advise you to use high quality in DVD-R format media. My favorite is TDK or Verbatim.
If you change anything in the future on your laptop, you'll be able to find your laptop using recovery image stored on the second partition.

If you need instructions specific to how make it please let me know.

  • Satellite A300 - displays error recovery disc creator

    Hello

I have a Toshiba Satellite A300 (PSAGCE) and I created the recovery by using the "TOSHIBA Recovery Disc Creator' disc but I did this a few months ago, but now the disc is scratched, and when I am formatting my computer it gives me an error when loading files. So I decided to create another disc, using the "TOSHIBA Recovery Disc Creator', but she also give me an error with one of the files during the creation of the disc. What should I do now?

I have a friend who has a Satellite A200, can I use the disk? I did a printscrean showing the error. Sorry the bad English, I'm Portuguese...

    Hello

It is good that you posted a screenshot of the error, but perhaps you can translate it into English, it would be more useful.

In any case, the disks that you use to create the recovery disk? I m using Verbatim DVD-R media. It worked perfectly for me and I can recommend this path.

In addition, you can see the Toshiba page for an update of the firmware of your CD/DVD drive.

Finally and above all, I doubt that for Satellite A200 recovery disk will work for you also. The models are different

  • Satellite A300 problem with Touch/set of keys

    Hi all

I have a relatively new Satellite A300 which was my serve. After turning on my laptop this morning, I found that the buttons of reading/Touch (the mute, play, stop, keys etc. which are located above the function keys) no longer work. The keys lights not when I turned on the computer first and did not work. After restarting my laptop, they have now come on, but do not work. Other software like Windows Media Player still work. If all goes well, can someone give me a race step by step through how to fix this, as I am not very familiar with the use of the computer? Very much appreciated!

On an additional note, I don't think I ran these latest updates which could have caused this?

    Thank you very much!
    Johanath

    Hello

Generally these buttons should if the VAP added Value Package is reinstalled, but try it please roll back OS to an earlier time using System Restore tool.
You can find under the menu start > all programs > Accessories > system tools.

Just roll back day or two back and test of functionality again.

  • Re: Satellite A300 of start-up problems and time

    Hello everyone,

I have a laptop Toshiba Satellite A 300, and I have some problems with it.

Problem is when I leave my computer (without external energy source) the time resets 2007, after several hours about (could be 6 hrs)., and computer quite often begins immediately after that I push the power button.

I don't know the cause of the problem, because the battery is OK., computer running long on battery.

I think the problem is in an internal battery in the CMOS, but I don't know if there is in portable computers.

    Suggestions will be highly appreciated!

    Kind regards

    Hello

    > The problem is when I leave my computer (without external energy source) the time resets 2007, after several hours about (could be 6 hrs)., and computer quite often begins immediately after that I push the power button.
Which is strange, I want to say the CMOS battery should not unload even the main battery is not empty as it s really strange to happen after 6 hours of non-use...

What you can do is to let the laptop connected to the AC adapter for over 24 hours
During this period the laptop should be lit!
Then you can check the operation of the CMOS battery and if this behavior will always be

If Yes, then you will need to contact a local ASP. Maybe the CMOS or the motherboard needs to be replaced
