  So my sisters laptop (satellite A300) was more than heating for basically since we bought it, but now I think that has caused a serious problem.

  I think that this is related to the problem of equipment; Maybe this problem of motherboard or power suply electronics problem.

  In Control Panel, you can find the sound and Audio devices. Here, you can change the settings to different controls. Check if the mute option on Audio CD control is not marked.

• Satellite P100-160: Mono sound when you use MciSendString() calling Winmm.dll

  I have a Satellite P100-160.
  The sound works well for some programs, Windows Media Player, etc. Audigy.

  I suggest to access XM Radio using Windows Media Player on your computer and check if you can hear the sound. To play in Windows Media player follow the steps below:

  a. open 'Windows Media Player'
  b. Select 'display '.
  c. Select "online stores".
  d. Select 'XM Satellite Radio' in the list of online stores and continue by entering your user name and password.

  If you are able to hear sound in Windows Media Player, you can contact support XM radio to check if you need to change the settings.
