    > I am running on the assumption that A = Australia & E = Europe.
    > Can anyone clarify this for me.

You are right that the last digit or the letter designates the region. Then E means Europe and Australian way.

It s an Australian series for Toshiba laptop and, therefore, you need to download the drivers from Toshiba Australian page

The BSOD may be a result of not fully compatible drivers

  • Re: Satellite A300 PSAGCA-03C010 - downgrade from Vista to XP

    Hello

I'm really new to all this, so I hope that will not ask a question that has already been answered :)

I bought a laptop Toshiba Satellite A300 (model PSAGCA-03C010) in October 08. It came with a preinstalled version of Windows Vista Home Premium.

Initially, using Vista was not too bad, but it happened at a point now where his things slows down and is really frustrating. Want to downgrade (/ upgrade) go back to Windows XP and I want to know the "implications" of this and if the Toshiba Utilities are consistent and will work with XP.

First of all, can I use my ID current product that came with Vista and it enter the product ID when I install XP?

Also, I am concerned about the Wi - fi, bluetooth, finger scan and HDMI applications - will this work with XP?

Finally, when I created the "recovery disk", should everything go 'bad' when installing XP or if something does not work, can I use this recovery disc to return to the original "out of the box" installation?

Thanks in advance and again once, apologies if these qns have already answered in other posts (im not too technical).

In many cases, these questions have been answered already and you might find useful views by using the Advanced ;) search option

    > Want to downgrade (/ upgrade) go back to Windows XP and I want to know the "implications" of this and if the Toshiba Utilities are consistent and will work with XP.
Tools and Vista drivers are not compatible with Win XP. If you want to install Win XP and want to use all the features of the laptop you must make sure that the Win XP drivers are available for this model of laptop.

Satellite A300 PSAGCA seems to be an Australian model. The drivers are placed here:
    http://www.ISD.Toshiba.com.au

I checked this and found a few tools and drivers for this device.

    > First of all, can I use my ID current product that came with Vista and it enter the product ID when I install XP?
No, you can not use it because it belongs to the Vista operating system preinstalled on your laptop.

    > Finally, when I created the "recovery disk", should everything go 'bad' when installing XP or if something does not work, can I use this recovery disc to return to the original "out of the box" installation?
Yes, the recovery disk allows to reverse the laptop back to factory settings.
You will get the same as on the first day of purchase

  • Impossible to install Vista on Satellite A300 PSAGCE - not ACPI compliant

    Hello

I'm recovering the laptop from a friend.
He has installed Windows XP on its Satellite A300 PSAGCE and concluded that of course XP 32-bit Windows does not support the full functionality of the laptop.

Now I wanted to reinstall Vista that came with it. I have two recovery DVD but when I wanted to start them (them two DVDs) I always get the error message that the system is not fully ACPI-compatible.

Now of course this laptop should work with Vista and the provided restore DVD should work as well, no?
I tried to download a Bios nw, but it seems 1.10 is the most recent.

I also can't find all the ACPI settings in the BIOS that I could activate.

    Could someone help me?
It is really urgent and driving me crazy!

    Thank you!

    Hello

Strange! Usually, if you have created the DVD recovery Toshiba using the TOSHIBA Recovery Disc Creator then everything should work correctly and you should be able to install Vista on this A300!

I put t know if you have changed something in the BIOS or elsewhere, but you should access the BIOS and should define the default settings.
Then try to boot from the recovery DVD Toshiba again.

    Good luck

  • Re: Satellite A300 PSAGCA: how to install Win XP as 2nd OS

Hey any reader for the first time and shows for the first time.
My comp is the Satellite A300 PSAGCA-02U010

You 2 questions, hopefully someone can help me with.

The issue of the first: like many people, I hate Vista.
How can I run XP as a second OS that don't live my warranty?

    2. the volume level is not very strong (sound) when you watch a DVD etc. I tried different settings, and every time I do I have to restart to take effect, which is a pain that vista is slow to restart. I have downloaded the driver, but noticed that it is exactly the same as what is installed already :(

    See you soon

    > How can I use as a second OS XP who don't live my warranty?
Installing programs or operating system would not avoid the warranty!
You can install the Win XP as second OS without fear.

But before install you anything, I would recommend the Toshiba recovery disc creation!

    With regard to the sound:
As far as I know the parameters which are changes in the player are not not in trouble. You must increase the volume of every time when you start the software again.
But have you tested different actors? For example, VLC player is a simple and free tools.
    I recommend to test

  • Win7 drivers for Satellite A300 PSAGCE

Toshiba will support win7 for Satellite A300 PSAGCE?
If so it will be soon? There is no driver for this model how is it?

Satellite A300 will be definitely supported, but no one knows for sure when the Win7 drivers for some this model will be available.
Every day there are more pilots. From time to time check the support page. I think that these days, pilots should be there.

  • Can I use European 2.1 BIOS update for Satellite A300 PSAGCA?

    Hello

    My toshiba's Satellite A300 PSAGCA-02Y010, bought in September 2008.
I want BIOS update latest version 2.10 for windows 7, but in the Web of Toshiba-NZ site, I can only find the version 1.9, I find 2.10 for A300 Toshiba Europe, but Europe models are all different from NZ.

My question is: could I use this BIOS 2.10 europe in my toshiba A300 nz? Thank you.

    Hello

I would not recommend using a BIOS that is not released for your laptop model.
There are a lot of different series for laptop on the market.

You must use the BIOS that is designed exactly for the portable model!
As you know, the BIOS update is a reasonable process and can damage the ROM chip using BIOS wrong!

  • Satellite A300-1QP - RAM upgrade question

    Hello world

After a few years, I decided to spend the money to upgrade the RAM.
Now, I'm pretty stuck to understand what to do.

I always knew that my laptop can be upgraded to 8 GB.
I also have many references for this information:

    -model: Satellite A300-1 q PSAGCE-07000QIT
    (http://www.toshiba.it/discontinued-products/satellite-a300-1qp/)

I checked physically slots: there are currently two slots of 2 GB each.
As long as no expert, I thought that the the more logical way to upgrade such a configuration is to buy the other two chips of 4 GB each to reach the 8GB.

However, it appears this combination didn't is not possible because I don't find not (I checked the site of Kingston and the Amazon). The upgrade of RAM I want to achieve is:
    -DDR2
    -800 Mhz
    -8 GB

If this can be useful, I note all the data on the other two RAM modules:
    2GB 2Rx8 PC2-64005-666-12-Z3
    800 Mhz DDR2-SDRAM

Can someone help me understand what to do to upgrade the RAM 8 GB?

    Thank you very much

    Francesco

    Hello

The laptop was equipped with the Intel GM45 Express chipset and the Intel ARK page this Chipset Mobile Intel GM45 Express is capable of dealing with the 8 GB of RAM
The chipset seems to support 667 MHz / 800 MHz/1066 modules MHz

If you want to increase the RAM up to 8 GB of RAM, the best option would be the use of 2 x SO-DIMM 4 GB (DDR2 800 Mhz) modules
The present modules must be removed and replaced with two modules of 4 GB.

Usually, you can use modules of different brand but modules good markets can cause a lot of problem different and strange. So I recommend you to buy good quality like Kingston, Toshiba, modules etc.

    Hello

    Please read here http://forums.computers.toshiba-europe.com/forums/ann.jspa?annID=13

As you can see, Cpu and Gpu upgrade is not a good idea. Even if your motherboard can handle it but the Bios is not pre-tested for her. In any case, you must contact the Asp (SAV), they can tell exactly whether it is supported or not.

  • XP installs not on Satellite A300 PSAGCA with the AHCI enabled

Hello... I hope someone can help,

As the owner of a Toshiba product and having to rebuild the .inf for the HD one audio file couple of years ago, I was invited devours advice here for my problems with XP facilities with several friends who have decided to abandon Vista and UPGRADE to XP.

My brother just bought an A300 PSAGCA-03C010 after that I made that I would be able to install XP as some of its video editing software which only works on XP.

In desperation after spending almost 2 full days to try to get it to work in AHCI mode... I have someone ask if they found appropriate for Intel drivers:

    Intel PM45 rev 07
South chip Intel 82801 IM (ich9-m)

I slide 3 dics streaming with the drivers of Intel so far and all go as far as loading XP but when finally restart XP get the BSOD... it is with AHCI in the bios. I can easily install XP with compatibility mode, but the performance of the system is slower than a P3 with 256 MB of ram.

I find drivers from Intel, but none of them actually SIMPLY specify ICH9-m or 82801-IM, which is the exact chipset of the laptop going by CPU - Z and, of course, none of them work after the initial format in AHCI setting.

So I'm better off just to exit the bios on the compatibility setting because it needs XP to its programs work and suffering from the loss of major speed or anyone know driver exact sata I need to wake or anyone know how to install the drivers after installing in XP compatibility mode... I tried several methods without success.

    Thank you
    Mark

    Hello

You have not installed the SATA drivers and so you are not able to install the XP with AHCI enabled.

You tired to include the wrong chipset. The SATA drivers are placed in Intel Matrix Storage Manager.
The IMSM contains the SATA files that could be included in Win XP using nLite software.

I recommend downloading the IMSM from Intel page and choose the package that contains the files and folder of disk I think the file is called F6FLPY

    Hi all

I have with me the notebook toshiba Satellite A300.
Bought the UNITED Arab Emirates. I just upgraded my pc to windows 7 and it seems to have affected my battery life, I guess.

Anyone has idea about hw long battery last, I mean hours.

Now, I can only use it for nearley 30 min... Some blog said of updateing the bios.

Is this the reason realley or is the problem of windows 7 with my battery, experts advise please.

    Thank you, vb sbar

    Hello

I don't know if the update of the BIOS would help, but if the new BIOS is available for you notebook series, then it s a m updated value.

But you should also check the Win 7 power management settings.
    Please check this Toshiba HowTo:
    http://forums.computers.Toshiba-Europe.com/forums/Ann.jspa?annID=41

It s on vista but Vista power management is very similar to Windows 7.

Here you must change the battery more user-friendly options.
    Check it!
