It is not easy to offer a diagnosis based on your story.
It will be interesting to know since when this happen?
You have installed software or installed updates in recent days.
Try to roll back the OS to an earlier time to see if this will be fixed.

I have a laptop Toshiba Satellite A300 with operating system Windows Vista Home Edition.
After a few weeks of work with my laptop, it cling.
I reinstalled the OS but and it works fine for 1 or two months, then the laptop to hang again.
    October 2008, I bought this laptop and I reinstalled Vista 3 o 4 times.

    What can I do?

You mean that Vista does not answer after some time?
Well my friend, this may be a software problem.

I mean there is no quick fix for these issues, I assume that you have installed and used many different applications on this laptop.
It is possible that one of the applications is causing this problem
It would be also possible that entries in registry and system files have been changed during Microsoft updates

In my opinion, you must use some cleaning as for example the CCLeaner tools.
It s free and it cleans your registry and other files

You should also check the applications that are running while the system would begin to cling
Finally and above all I recommend you memory, you can run a memory test (www.memtest.org, www.memtest86.com) in order to find some problems of memory.

    Good luck

  • Satellite A300 - Windows 7, causing overheating

    Hey all,.

I have an A300/y01 toshi (psagca - 02y010) and that you have recently upgraded to windows 7 64-bit, since the upgrade, I was unable to find a toshiba power saver, which is compatible with win 7, and my pc is a lot hotter then he did a few days under vista, I was in power and configured options plan of power for maximum performance in heating tho is unchanged. also when I turn the pc on the fan does not seem to do his spin test as fast as he did.

There is still the hot air from the vent on the left and has not extinguished because of excessive heat, tho have not heard the fan out like before and laptop base and hand rests become much warmer, then they have never before.

Have been to a few different forums that suggest different things like fan.exe tho other comments I've read it does not seem to recognize the fans of toshiba, plan ripping off the base in the next few days and by checking the dust build up, although this may explain the high heat does not explain why the fan works differently under the new operating system and why heat jumped up so much coinciding with the change.

If someone has any suggestions pls help!

I have European Satellite A300-1LI, and last week, I installed Win7 as any new install, no updates.
I must say that the laptop works well and I did not notice much of a difference to Vista. Laptop runs pretty quiet. I must also say that my laptop is supported with Win7 and I installed Win7 VAp, which includes Toshiba power saver.

Have you checked the Toshiba download page to your country? Your model of laptop is fully supported for Win7?
Try to use the balanced power plan. Performance will be reduced but also CPU and graphics activity and I presume that laptop will not heat so much as under high-performance power management where the material is required to perform to maximum.

If the Toshiba power saver is installed on your laptop you can find it on the same place as on Vista. Here you can change the parameters for the method of cooling.

What is the internal webcam A300?

  • Satellite A300 - Windows Vista restarts on shutdown

I just have to drive HARD on Satellite A300, Vista recovery and it gives me problems when I try to close it, it just restarts. It doesn't matter if it is on battery or plugged in. I have the point on the BIOS, did you install in power options, but still the same problem. I have the card WiFi and non-functional network, if anyone thinks that maybe that's the problem. All entries are welcome.
    Thank you

    Hi dadtheman,

Did you check if all devices are properly installed in Device Manager? Check for exclamation marks Device Manager yellow and if there are some unknown devices.

Also try to disable wake up on LAN and keyboard as Akuma has suggested.

  • Satellite A300 windows on the grid does not

    Hello.

I have a Satellite A300 only recently begun to close without warning. I first thought this may be a virus problem, but after the execution of various virus programs I excluded it as likely a cause. Thinking that the problem can be caused by a recently installed program, I did a restore of the system without result. The problem got worse for a few weeks, and after a lot of tests and trials, I now have the following problem:. The laptop runs without problem on the farm, but if I plug my adapter, it stops a few seconds. It will run on the network in SafeMode for hours, but if I try to start it with hands attached, it will go beyond the start of Toshiba for the "bars" screen and then stop. The battery is charged, but only when the laptop is turned off.

I have already spend a lop of time on it and have tried different adapters to exclude the possibility that it may be defective. I also disassembled the unit and clean the fans, etc.

After reading some suggestions on different forums, I'm now trying to upgrade the bios (there is one available for this model), but have now run into a brick wall. I continue to receive various error messages when I try to update the bios. 1 insyde flash can't load the driver... He told me to run as administrator (I am), and the suggestion that it is for me, it's that I can't upgrade the Bios on battery... BUT that's all that I can run. The only time that it is running on the electric network is in safe mode, and then it won't let me upgrade the Bios. Help Help Help. The laptop is about to become landfill. The only thing I haven't done is reset to the factory setting. Suggestions for my bios problem please...

    Thanks in advance

    Hello

In my opinion the update of the BIOS would not help you to solve this power off of the issue.
Even if the BIOS is not updated, the laptop must turn off not with the AC adapter.

To be honest, I think the problem might have something to do with the motherboard.

Usually laptops would be shut down automatically due to a higher temperature, but in your case, I doubt its problem of temperature from the laptop stops immediately start the operating system.

    Back to BIOS update issue:
As far as I know, the adapter must be connected in order to update the BIOS. In SafeMode it s not possible to update the BIOS.

I not quite sure if faulty RAM could bring this maybe not RAM problem, but of course, you can try to start the device using a module of RAM only Mr. you test the two Rams in each slot.

However, if anything would help him, the technician should run some diagnostics to determine the cause.

  • Satellite A300-1MT freezes from time to time

    Hello.

My lay is old and only 3 days and the only problem is that it freezes every time.
I use it on AC/high performance. I just work on it, and when I run the installation of a game it freezes usually, when sometimes I'm working on it, just browse the internet or write in word, it just freezes, did some stupid lines on the screen and that's it.
I have to stop it by pressing the button for 6 seconds.

I watched the temperatures. CPU is the GU of 60-65, 50-55 and HDD on 40-45 degrees. and when it's freezing, HDD Led goes off, all the others are bright white.

Can someone tell me what to do? What is the problem?
Should I take it back and get a new one?

    TNX

    Hello!

It is not easy to say what is the reason for this problem, but I think this could be a problem of the RAM or the motherboard.

In your case, I would check the RAM with Memtest86:

Did you install the laptop with the Toshiba recovery disc or disc of Microsoft?
Maybe reinstall Windows might also solve the problem. Try it.

    Good bye

  • Satellite A300 - Windows 7 does not recognize external devices

Windows 7 (32-bit) an upgrade of Vista and couldn't be more peripheral to work due to driver problems. Talked to Microsoft and they found that my drivers are still there but can not find them unless I tell them where to look, and so all devices I plug I need to install drivers for both times.

Any body have ideas how to solve this problem?

    Hi doug47,

To be honest, I think I can t help you because I know you want to know exactly.

External devices, you mean? Not everything you need drivers, like external hard drives, USB sticks, etc. These discs will be recognized automatically (plug & play) and they are read to use after connecting.

If you mean printer or mobile phones you have need of additional drivers. You can get it from the manufacture.

    Hello

Does this mean that only your touchpad freezes or the computer?

So without more information it of difficult to say something about this but I recommend you to install the latest driver for the touchpad on Toshiba website:

  • Satellite A300-1EG freezes at startup

I recently repartitioned (some partitions, including recovery, have been removed) drive and tried to install Windows 7. During installation, after choosing the installation partition Setup stopped responding (I could move the mouse pointer, but nothing else).

I turned off laptop by pressing the power on button for 5 seconds, but now system crashes at "Toshiba Leading Innovation" screen whenever I turn it on.

I can't access selector installation or startup, multimedia keys are flashing when you press on, lights work and respond to plug/unplug AC. Only the HHD led is turned on, but dimmed by comparing to others. Caps lock does not, laptop turns off after pressing power, without holding it.

Before that I had some problems with the HDD, rare file system errors and Windows XP Setup was not working (frozen after Installer message determines the configuration system and constantly read disk until you restart).

    Hello

Well, according to you the description, a HARD disk error may be possible.
Have you tested the HARD drive?
    Isn't it?

Then, you should do this; There is a nice drive test tool called HARD HARD drive Fitness Test.
You can download it from various pages just google and you will find

If the HARD drive fitness test will detect some errors then you replace the HARD drive.

    That s my personal opinion

  • Satellite A300 immediately freezes after startup

Laptop running this morning and got a warning from Norton telling that my Antivirus software has been disabled.
I never turned it off before so could not understand this.
In any case, I clicked on the icon of fix in Norton, but it's stuck on 7%.

I could still move the cursor on the screen, but nothing would work. I tried CTRL + ALT + DELETE, but that made no difference.
Shut down the laptop by holding the power button. Once re-boot returned to Norton to try the complete analysis of the system, but after a few minutes it may stuck as before.
Once again restarted and connected to the internet but once again after a few minutes it may jam. It seems, no matter what I do, it only takes 4-5 minutes before locking up.

I looked on other forums using pc at work for possible corrections. Similar problems appear to be at with good overheating that found a site that suggests, it might be Service Pack associated.

    Does this sound right?
    Any help please welcome.

Please answer in bases, as I am not an expert.

    Thanks in advance.

    Hello

I think the software Norton Atntivirus could be the reason for your mobile number.
It seems that this software does not work properly now, maybe you should reinstall it and update again.

    Or I have another idea.

You could remove the software from the system and could switch to another tool called Avira Antivir I use this antivirus software and it s free and really big because this does not focus on the system such as Symantec's Norton.
I read that Norton Antivir needs a lot of system resources. This might be the reason of your gel

  • Satellite A300-20V - not all drivers Windows 7 published?

There are some drivers Windows Vista HW unpublished for Windows 7?

This means that missing drivers are combined with other drivers...?
    OR
    It would be published later...?
    OR
Drivers of HW can I vista can be used also for windows 7... ?

    Hello

Satellite A300-20V belongs to the PSAGCE series and so already a lot of drivers for Windows 7 is released and also for 32-bit and 64-bit.

    What drivers need you exactly?

And Yes, you can use the Vista on Windows 7 drivers. Many of them also work.
On my Satellite A300 Windows 7 works really well. I got all the drivers for it and it works better then Vista in my opinion.

  • Satellite A300 - guard wireless is disconnected!

    Hello

I use a Toshiba Satellite A300 windows vista.
Internet worked fine for 2 months until I keep get disconnected after 10 minutes since last week.
It has now become very annoying...

I tried everything I could. If you can help me in anyway it would be much appreciated...

Other pc and laptop computers work properly at home so this means that there is nothing wrong with the router. I have not installed anything (e.g. Skype) which would cause this... I don't know how it happened all of a sudden? It was working perfectly before.
I've updated the drivers and all...

I think to take it to a store, but I don't know if even they could repair?
I've seen other people with the same problem similar model face.

    Any solution?

Please help me im really looking forward to y. Thanks in advance.

OK buddy, you said you have updated the drivers and all that you have updated exactly?
Normally if you have some problems with your WIFI connection it of only necessary to update the BIOS and the driver WLAN. Did you do that?

In addition, you must disable WLAN energy saving function Windows power options. This Toshiba document can help you to:
    http://APS2.toshiba-tro.de/KB0/HTD84026Q0000R01.htm

Did you check if the laptop and the router uses the same standard WLAN? For example, the G project? The two devices must use the same to verify this!

Incidentally, you launch the factory settings or you have installed your own version of Windows? In the worst cases, you should try to restore the factory using Toshiba Recovery disk settings. It is recommended to determine if it s a hardware or software problem.

Now I m of ideas but I hope I could help you! :)
