Satellite A300 - Windows Vista restarts on shutdown

I just have to drive HARD on Satellite A300, Vista recovery and it gives me problems when I try to close it, it just restarts. It doesn't matter if it is on battery or plugged in. I have the point on the BIOS, did you install in power options, but still the same problem. I have the card WiFi and non-functional network, if anyone thinks that maybe that's the problem. All entries are welcome.
Thank you

Hi dadtheman,

Did you check if all devices are properly installed in Device Manager? Check for exclamation marks Device Manager yellow and if there are some unknown devices.

Also try to disable wake up on LAN and keyboard as Akuma has suggested.

I have a laptop Toshiba Satellite A300 with operating system Windows Vista Home Edition.

I reinstalled the OS but and it works fine for 1 or two months, then the laptop to hang again.
    October 2008, I bought this laptop and I reinstalled Vista 3 o 4 times.

    What can I do?

You mean that Vista does not answer after some time?
Well my friend, this may be a software problem.

I mean there is no quick fix for these issues, I assume that you have installed and used many different applications on this laptop.
It is possible that one of the applications is causing this problem
It would be also possible that entries in registry and system files have been changed during Microsoft updates

In my opinion, you must use some cleaning as for example the CCLeaner tools.
It s free and it cleans your registry and other files

You should also check the applications that are running while the system would begin to cling
Finally and above all I recommend you memory, you can run a memory test (www.memtest.org, www.memtest86.com) in order to find some problems of memory.

  • Satellite A300 - Win Vista instalation disk missing

    Hello world.

This is my first time on any forum ever :)

In August 2008, I bought laptop Toshiba Satellite A300 - 149. There was a lot of turbulence in our relationship, but we always went by them so far.

Some time ago I added an additional hard drive just for the system. I did it just to have all important data in the entity. This extra drive decided to die.

The problem is that there is no more the oryginal disc recovery so I have a laptop, hard drive and the product key for windows, but no instalation windows disk or at least file.

Can you please help me and tell what should I do now because I can't undo what I've done already :)

    Hello

Your A300 was delivered with the operating system from Vista preinstalled (recovery image). This recovery image is saved on the HARD disk. Operating manuals s described document that each owner of the laptop must create the installation of recovery disk using pre-installed recovery media creator tool.

If I understand you right you didn't he create if it is your only error.
    What can you do now?
    You have two options:
1 / you can order the original recovery disc - https://backupmedia.toshiba.eu/landing.aspx
2 / you can install own OS version

I have too many A300 and for three years I use it with Windows 7 32 bit. It works perfectly and much better than original Vista.

In any case, you do need to make the decision. If you have any other questions do not hesitate to ask.

    Good bye

    Hello

I have a toshiba satellite A300 - 16L. And it must recover Vista.
    But he'll do.
I tried the F8 key during startup, but that foesnot give me the recovery menu.
I tried the solution key 0. But this does not work either.

It remains startsup windows in a recovery status. And ends with a message (in Dutch): "Kan geinstalleerde niet het programma starten. Klik op OK als u wilt uitschakelen computer.

I do however can start with a knoppix cd and see the entire disk. And I could save almost all the data.

    Can someone help here?

    eyes of Jan

You have created DVDs of recovery following advice in the document s user manuals?
If Yes use this support to reinstall the original Vista recovery image.
Is preinstalled original Toshiba Vista or your own installation?

By the way: I have the same machine and I use Win7 32 bit. It works perfectly on the A300.

  • Satellite A300-1J1 - Vista does not start, a lot of corrupted files

My PC (toshiba satellite A300 1J1) suffered some random freezes for the past month. A few days ago it froze so I restarted and it could not start. He got as far as the scrolling green bar under the name of microsoft and then progress any more. I tried to start it in all different modes but without prevail. I tried to do a system restore, but it can't find any restore point, or all the files to reset to factory specifications.

The hard drive works as I could locate all my files via the command prompt. When I run the check disk tool it says many files are unreadable, so I want to reset the PC but can't due to lack of points on each side of the partioned reset disk.

My PC came with no recovery disk and I fear that in the past, I accidentally deleted file recovery on the HARD drive. What can I do? will be Toshiba sent me disks so I ask them or I have to wipe the drive and buy windows 7 as a last resort?

    > will be Toshiba sent me disks so I ask them or I have to wipe the drive and buy windows 7 as a last resort?

No, dude, it won't send you free and you must order for money https://backupmedia.toshiba.eu/landing.aspx you can also install Win copy yourself if you get the windows disk.

    Hello

Have you installed the right graphics card driver?
The Sat A300-1GN belongs to the PSAGCE series.
    I checked the page of the Toshiba driver and there are two pilots;
I think that you should choose the ATI driver 8.477 display because this driver supports the Mobility Radeon HD 34xx/36xx chips.

Other base system devices could be Bridge Media slot (for SD cards), touchpad, HDMI Control Manager.

I didn't find these drivers 64-bit on Toshiba page. Maybe you should choose some drivers for Vista 32 bit

  • Satellite L300 & Windows Vista aren't grateful Ipod

Hi, I hope you can help! I was directed here by Microsoft & Apple - here is my question and also Microsofts response:

I have an ipod nano 3rd generation, work outside the home a near new laptop with windows vista. iTunes is the entire installation, no problems with the ipod at all but when I plug the ipod in, it only charges the ipod.

computer doesn't recognize any, the ipod under windows or itunes. It there is no portable device driver in Device Manager, or anywhere at all.

It is not the usb port as another usb have been recognized. I have tried in all the other usb ports as well. bottom line is that windows vista (and itunes) is not to recognize the ipod at all.

I've been in contact with apple, with anything. I googled solutions for hundreds of other posts with exactly the same problem but no useful solution. Windows vista has no port of portable device - how can we get this on their pc?

I've been at this for 4 days now and you have uninstalled/reinstalled much too often and I'm out! all tips (other that "have you tried another usb port' or ' have you reset the ipod" or something similar) would be much appreciated.

once more, there is no drive of laptop/ipod device located on this computer. Please, I really hope someone can help =)

    * Microsofts response: *.

    Hello

Step 1: enable USB bus power back

If the laptop is configured to save power by turning off the power on the USB (Universal Serial Bus) port, it may not recognize a connected iPod.

To activate the rear USB bus power, you can follow the steps mentioned in the link from Apple below
    http://support.Apple.com/kb/TS1401

You said Windows vista has no port of portable device normally, all portable devices are connected via a USB port and they appear under Bus USB controllers in Device Manager.

Step 2: reinstall the USB controllers.

First of all, please disconnect all USB devices and then perform the following steps:

    1. click on 'Start', type device manager in the search bar and press "Enter." If necessary, click on continue.

    2. in Device Manager, double-click to expand the "USB Bus controllers", right-click on the "host controller", click "Uninstall" and click "OK".

    3. Repeat step 2 to uninstall all items under 'USB Bus controllers'.

Then, restart your computer and windows will automatically reinstall all USB controllers.

    If the problem persists,

    * Step 3:Download and install the latest drivers from the computer chipset laptop manufacturer s online.*

    * So here I am with the issue still not resolved. * How can I download and install the latest chipset drivers for the Toshiba Satellite L300 & Microsoft Vista to recognize my ipod? *

    Thanks in advance!

    > 3:Download step and install the latest drivers for chipset on the website s laptop manufacturer.
    > * so here the issue still not resolved. How can I download and install the latest chipset drivers > for the Toshiba Satellite L300 & Microsoft Vista to recognize my ipod?

Install a material like Everest home Edition or similar diagnostic tool.
This tool would enable details of the hardware on your laptop.
It lists all the devices and chipset name too.
I think that it s Intel chipset, so you can find the driver on the Intel page

  • Satellite A300 PSAG0A: Vista to XP downgrade question

I just bought a Satellite A300 with the following details:

Model satellite A300/Y00 (exclusive to Dikc Smith Electronics in Australia)
    PSAG0A-02Y009
    2.1 Ghz Intel Core 2 Duo T8100
    2 GB RAM DDR2 (667 MHz)
    250 GB SATA HARD drive
    Graphics Intel X 3100 (GM965)
MS Windows Vista Business pre installed
MS WIndows XP downgrade for A300 recovery disk media

Basically, I just turned on and configure everything, nothing about that fact yet, not even other software installed.
I immediately made 2 copies of the recovery of the product for Vista media. So the disc XP and Vista should have all the drivers on them.

I want to install a software particularly (for programming electronic components), but the company said that it is not fully compatible with Vista. Therefore, I would like to downgrade to XP and use it for 6 to 12 months, and later POSSIBLY roll back to Vista.

Now, the information provided by Toshiba are limited with respect to the downgrading to XP. (And there is absolutely nothing about to go back to Vista).
The documentation provided shows four options at retirement:
    1) recover to out-of-box-state,.
    (2) covers the single State of Windows,
    (3) recover without changing hard disk partitions,
    4) recover on a custom size partition. He then goes on to say "Please do not select 'Recover without changing the partitions of hard drive' as a method of recovery." Windows XP cannot be used by the composition of the partition of Windows Vista".

First of all, what are the ramifications of the other options? What is the best/worst one and why?

If I understand correctly, the partitioning of the hard drive must be changed for the downgrade to XP.
But in Vista, there is a separate partition to store data recovery, so that the partition will be changed (lost).
If ever I decide to go back to Vista, the Vista recovery media I created also change the partitioning to the way it was originally?

I dared not touch anything until I'm 100% sure of what needs to be done.
If anyone has any experience with this or advice, I would be grateful for your expertise.
Feel free to be as detailed and technical that you like - I want to 'understand' and not just 'do '.

    Thanks in advance,
    Robert.

    Hi Robert

I put t have Satellite A300 and I don t have an Australian notebook but I m, owner of another European model Satellite with preinstalled Vista operating system!
In any case, I want to share my experience with Vista and XP and of course the recovery procedure on E

First I noticed that the new notebook series is not delivered with the Toshiba Recovery CD but the image recovery is store on the HARD drive and you can create and burn image from own DVD.
    Seems that you already have.

As you already suggested the Vista supports 2 different partitions. A partition is the system partition and the partition of the other, smaller, hidden was created for Vista backup files. So if something goes wrong with your Vista operating system, you can use the repair function on Vista to repair the operating system. In this case, small backup partitions, hidden in necessary.

I also like Xp and that's why I installed it on my laptop. I didn't format t disc installed HARD but the XP on a new created partition.
You can create a partition in Vista's disk management.
In any case, I now have a dual boot OS and I use Vista and XP.

    With regard to the use of the Vista DVD recovery;
If you want to go back to Vista, you will need to boot from the Toshiba Recovery CD and the Vista installation process should begin.
But be aware that the Vista recovery CD would format the whole HARD drive.
It would erase the partitions and remove stored data.
Therefore, you must back up your data before that you would use the recovery CD!

Hope this little info will help you.

    Good bye

  • Satellite A300 - Windows 7, causing overheating

    Hey all,.

I have an A300/y01 toshi (psagca - 02y010) and that you have recently upgraded to windows 7 64-bit, since the upgrade, I was unable to find a toshiba power saver, which is compatible with win 7, and my pc is a lot hotter then he did a few days under vista, I was in power and configured options plan of power for maximum performance in heating tho is unchanged. also when I turn the pc on the fan does not seem to do his spin test as fast as he did.

There is still the hot air from the vent on the left and has not extinguished because of excessive heat, tho have not heard the fan out like before and laptop base and hand rests become much warmer, then they have never before.

Have been to a few different forums that suggest different things like fan.exe tho other comments I've read it does not seem to recognize the fans of toshiba, plan ripping off the base in the next few days and by checking the dust build up, although this may explain the high heat does not explain why the fan works differently under the new operating system and why heat jumped up so much coinciding with the change.

If someone has any suggestions pls help!

I have European Satellite A300-1LI, and last week, I installed Win7 as any new install, no updates.
I must say that the laptop works well and I did not notice much of a difference to Vista. Laptop runs pretty quiet. I must also say that my laptop is supported with Win7 and I installed Win7 VAp, which includes Toshiba power saver.

Have you checked the Toshiba download page to your country? Your model of laptop is fully supported for Win7?
Try to use the balanced power plan. Performance will be reduced but also CPU and graphics activity and I presume that laptop will not heat so much as under high-performance power management where the material is required to perform to maximum.

If the Toshiba power saver is installed on your laptop you can find it on the same place as on Vista. Here you can change the parameters for the method of cooling.

  • Satellite A300-29N - auto restart within a time

    Hello

I have laptop Toshiba Satellite A300-29N, recently, I noticed that my laptop auto-redémarre after 5 minutes, I thought that this could be a problem of charger so I replaced it, and nothing has changed, so I thought that maybe the power so I plugged the power regulator and no change, finally I opened to check for problems of heating and changed the CPU cooler and nothing has changed as well.

This occurs if the operating system is Windows or Linux, so is hardware not software problems, recently, time went from 5 minutes to 30 seconds, directly after the OS loads, I don't really know what's wrong with it, I tried everything I suspected it might be the problem, anyone have any idea why what is happening?.

    Thank you
    Ahmed

    Hi Chambers

It is not easy to say why this is happening. Can you please do a little test?
Start your laptop and enter the BIOS settings. Leave it for a while and let us know if the same thing happens again.

  • Satellite Pro U400-130 - restarts after shutdown down

    Hello

I bought a laptop Toshiba Satellite Pro U400-130. The operating system is Windows Vista 32 bit.

I have a problem when I try to quit the Menu Start-Shut Down laptop. The system will reboot after that. Then if I select closes without connecting to my account, it really stops.

Please, could you help me with this?

It's a little confusing because you said if I select shut down without logging in to my account, it really stops.
    Say you stop without connection?

However, I think you make a mistake.
Make sure you have all the Service Packs and hotfixes installed for Vista.

Maybe the button closure is misconfigured. The default action is sleep. To verify this action. Open a command prompt and enter
    Powercfg.cpl, 1
There you can change the action of power button in the start menu.
