  As I m not wrong not the A300 was equipped with HARD drive recovery option.
  This means that you can grab the laptop and set it to factory settings very easy and without use of the Recovery DVD!

  Then turn on the laptop, press the F8 key and choose the option called fix my computer.

  It s your choice what joystick you want to buy. Go to a computer store and take a look at all the joysticks and buy one of them.

  AFAIK, the chipset drivers are responsible for the usb, esata functions but you already reinstalled it. Have you tried to remove the chipset drivers in Device Manager and reinstall again?
