Satellite A300D-156 - repair under warranty?

Please help me! My laptop is under warranty since 27/06/2009. Yesterday I brought to the after-sales service in Ukraine, Kiev, "Ivira. The problem is auto off after 10-15 minutes of work and the loud noise of the cooler (for laptop is very hot near cooler). That's why the problem was more dust and the drying up of the termopaste. Service center said that's not warranty repair, and I have to pay $ 50 for the repair.

The repair is not free if my laptop is under warranty of truth? What should I do?

Hello

If you disassemble your laptop, it is still under warranty and they should fix it for free. However, it depends on customer Service... In any case, you should insist on fixing it for free. I know, how Ukrainian service centres work :) Just want your money

  • Satellite C660-174 - rattling under warranty?

I have a Toshiba Satellite C660-174 and it vibrates in the corner near the CD drive, as if something is loose.

I wonder if I should send it the laptop back to be repaired under warranty or if there is a way to solve the problem myself?

    Thank you

    Hi Parkish,

Usually this rattling should also be covered by the guarantee because it seems like a hardware malfunction and it s is not a software problem.

You should contact the nearest authorized service provider then you can ask for help and the guys will do anything to help you.

  • Portege R500 - only partially repaired under warranty

I went back to my laptop from Toshiba R500 to repair under warranty, but it has not been fully repaired.

The problem was first a noisy fan that resembled a scraping noise and the fan seems to slow or stop, the entire computer became sometimes very hot (too hot to the touch under). Also the computer worked VERY slowly when it is hot. I returned it to Toshiba and repair officer replaced the cooling fan but quoted me for additional repairs, that they were 'out of warranty' £650.

My question is this: how Toshiba may refuse to repair damage caused by severe overheating legitimate?
The fact that they have replaced the fan probably indicates that they accept that the fan was defective.

    > Please treat this as a warning against the R500 (in particular, I have no knowledge of other machines from Toshiba).
    > It gets VERY hot in the normal conditions of use. If the fan fails, as mine did, too hot to the touch.

Sorry but I don't agree with you... One of my friends owns a R500. Everything works fine. Of course some areas notebook placed near the cooling modules, and cooling grids are hot but it's nothing unusual.

You will encounter this issue on all, small (12.1 "and similar) cell phones (not only the portable Toshiba) because these books do not have enough room for the cooling of the huge modules as on the portable 15"or 17".
So you will always notice that the upper part of the cover or the keyboard is hot.
Also, the case cannot be broken because of the higher temperature.

However, I don't want to defend anyone or anybody, but this simply isn't fair to say that it is a poor build quality...

Finally and above all, I must say that I had good experience with Toshiba laptops (I have two different models of Satellite: U400 and A210).
U400 is a small model similar to the R500 to 13.2 "and I noticed that the keyboard is hot on the left side because of the cooling module and the grids on the left.

    To return to your question
Has anyone else had similar problems?

Yes, as mentioned, I noticed that my keyboard or the left side is warm but it is not a problem but a behavior common to all small notebooks

Sorry, but man I must say: forget it.
You can't go to the graphics chip. It will not work and the BIOS would not accept.

  • Repairs under warranty in the United Kingdom

I bought a Toshiba M305D-S4830 in the United States, with limited international warranty Standard (1 year). Currently, I am now in England.

My screen flashes (no fault of mine), and I'd like to get it fixed now, that my warranty expires in September this year. I looked at the authorized service providers in the United Kingdom which would fix a laptop with the International Service guarantee, and I contacted the closest to here where I live now. The repair shop said that it would cost 17 pounds to ship the laptop per trip (which is 34 pounds!) for the service.

(It is ridiculous, because when I was in the United States and had laptops from other brands, shipping was free, or I had to pay for Fedex shipping for only one way. My laptop at the time were bought in Malaysia and was under warranty international too in the United States).

In any case, I expect a cheaper method. If I send the deposit of Toshiba UK & Ireland, is it cheaper? Everybody here experience with repairs under warranty for this ASP and have knowledge about the costs of shipping?

    Hello

Of course, there is difference between Americans and Europeans of the rules. To be honest, I think these rules also depending on the country and may not be the same for all European countries.
Have you tried to contact other SPAS in the United Kingdom? Just to see if there is some difference.

My portable German model was repaired this year in Croatia (holiday).
After 10 days I went laptop repaired.
Service was not so far in my case and I brought here alone.
Maybe you can do the same. The key is that your laptop will be repaired.

  • Satellite L755-1NX repair and warranty

Two months ago, I bought a new Toshiba Satellite L755-1NX.
    *
After this short period of normal use, the connection between the charger and the computer was damaged from overheating problems. The laptop and the Charger AC/DC seem to be tonwork well outside this huge detail which prevents me from using the computer.
    *
I contacted Toshiba Service customer and went to a repair center with my laptop. There, I was informed that since this model had no known connection problem (something that I have translated as not enough complaints) the warranty does not cover repair.

If I am to fix that I have to spend an additional 90, setting a new computer and there is no guarantee that this problem will happen again in the future.

I complained to the service the customer in Spain and they stated that the warranty includes no physical damage to the laptop. I do not accept this answer, since there is an obvious defect in the connection. Asides from that, the law says clearly that it is up to the seller to prove the wrong use of any electronic device and not the customer to prove a defect.

Any ideas on how to proceed outside to make a formal complaint to the defence of client and not recommend Toshiba to anyone?

    Hello

To be honest, it is not easy to say what to do.
    >.. .the connection between the charger and the computer has been damaged from overheating issues
I really put t know how something like this can happen. I mean if the temperature was so high in this respect damage what is with laptop parts and other components. Following my logic, your laptop should be more damaged than that.

Please don t get me wrong now, but anyway this is a strange question. You are also the first person who reported about it so I sure this is nothing else than to isolated reports of m.
    > Any ideas on how to proceed outside to make a formal complaint to the defence of the client...
Be cool and try to clarify this point with the service. They have their own rules as any other serous company.
    >.. .and not recommend Toshiba to anyone?
I put t know what to say on this subject. For me, it sounds rather childish. When I read it, this looks like some sort of revenge and how to get satisfaction. Don t waste your time with something that won't help at all. You would do the same if you have problems with TV, VCR, phone, car... and and and... I don t think so. Where is the end?

In the past, I had several problems with different products in my house or my car. That s the life my friend. Sometimes, everything is OK, but sometimes, we just... .bad luck.

  • Repair under warranty in India

I'm from my laptop United Kingdom and me are in India. I triggered a rift with Toshiba, it has taken to the service center in Delhi, they said it was full of dust and just installed real player and went on live messenger etc.

I call Toshiba again to say that the fault had not been fixed.
I took it to a different service center this time and they said it takes a new motherboard and it will take at least 4 WEEKS!

I am a computer professional study in India for several qualities. I have a laptop, so for the past week I have rented one for my school to 7USD per day rate. I think 4 weeks is too long it's going to cost me like less 49USD x 5 = 245USD.

Toshiba in the United Kingdom have no email address to communicate with the people of service or warranty.

    Please advise me.

    Thank you very much.

    Hello doug123,

First of all, it would be interesting to know if you talked with an authorized service provider or another repair service. If you have contacted an ASP it of ok and I think that it takes so long because not all parts available for the moment. Normally, such a remedy should take only a few days or so, but if the parts are not available, you must wait until they can get it.

Don t get me wrong, but these things can happen. There is no other warranty or the extended warranty that the laptop will be repaired in just a few days. If there is no spare parts, that s bad luck no more, not less.

Finally and above all, I doubt that it would be useful to contact Toshiba. Your first point of contact is the authorized service provider and not Toshiba. Toshiba laptop repair doesn't so I guess that they don t have the part too.

Anyway, maybe you can get a laptop from a friend, or where you are studying. This should be possible.
The ASP undertakes to repair your laptop as soon as possible, but now he must wait until the part will be available

  • Satellite A300D - 156 BIOS update failed - I need assistance with recovery

    Hello

I know it is old enough, but until now, it was just good enough for my use.
In any case, after I did a restore of the Windows Vista operating system came with my computer, I got a notification of one of the tools of Toshiba that an updated BIOS is available for my computer.
I downloaded and tried to perform an update. After that the process had finished (probably), the computer has not responded to the pad touchscreen and keyboard. I was not sure if the update really took place, especially because it looked like the computer has been is frozen. So I left it for the next +/-30 minutes, but no change.
So I decided to reset it as even the power button did not work. So I had to remove the battery and unplug the AC power.

... and the computer has (almost) dead then.

Now, it is that when I press the power button it seems to power up but the screen remains blank, fan works and Windows is not booting. It's just a short scratching sound of the DVD drive noise, and that's all.

My question is, what is the recovery procedure in my situation? I tried to look for potential assistance on the Internet and I found a few forum or articles messages indicating that there is some recovery for the different BIOS procedures, but what is the procedure for my BIOS? The only thing I found the 'work' was that if I press the power button now the keys Fn + Esc, computer laptop powers on with power button / stop flashes. But how to force recovery BIOS flashing procedure?

Thanks in advance for any help!

It's really stupid situation now. You will not be able to fix it with a simple recovery operation. BIOS is broken.
In the past I have faced no such situation but on this forum I found a very interesting thread on BIOS recovery. Please take some time and visit this thread.

Maybe this will help you with your machine.

  • Satellite A300D - audio problem under Win XP

When I try to install audio driver I get the error message: the driver Installation failed: could not find the MEDIA device for this driver.
The last time I used an update of the hotfix (KB...) and it worked, but I can not find...

    Hello

I know that this question. I got it with my laptop after installing Windows XP.
The point is that Win XP SP2 does not contain the MS patches

You could resolve this install SP3 since SP3 contains fixes.

But the SP3 must be installed before installing the audio driver.
If you have installed the driver sound first then remove it from the Device Manager and then install SP3.
    After following with driver sound

  • Y50 - Fn + F6 touchpad control does not work after the repair under warranty.

I sent my Y50 (Win7 64 bit) to get a fixed hinge. Technicians have updated the BIOS, and I guess that's why now my FN toggle to deactivate/activate the touchpad no longer works.

I tried to reinstall the drivers in a bunch of ways. Completely tried their device manager uninstall, then install it from the Lenovo Web site, the button still does not work. I tried to uninstall completely and restarting the computer and let windows install the default drivers. still does not work.

I even tried to install Lenovo Power Manager reading that some forum messages online. Has nothing.

I don't know what to do to get this function key to work again. Work of the other function key end combo. But it does not work.

I would REALLY appreciate the help as it affects my productivity. The touchpad gets false keys of my Palm, so I would like to have this option disabled. Apparently there are settings for this, but mine is not working either.

    Please and thank you.

It seems that "Lenovo settings" is only available for Windows 10. I'm running Win7 64 bit.

Thanks for the reply, I really appreciate it.

EDIT: I thought about it! I'll put the instructions here in case someone else found it.

Go into the BIOS, go to the option to load the default settings. Select the inheritance settings and before be reinitialized. It seems that it must be set to legacy so that it works on any OS older than Win8.1. apply the settings and it should work.

Just before I did I installed again Lenovo Power Manager. Although it itself does not solve the problem, I don't know if it wasn't some combined settings that solved. Whatever it is, solved!
