Satellite A40: Question about upgrade from the DVD UJ-850

Hello

I have a satellite A40, I recently installed a new motherboard to. Everything now works perfectly, and I plan to change the CDRW/DVD drive to a dvd burner.

The current player is a panasonic-UJDA750. I intend to replace it with a UJ-850 for the dvd burner. Could someone please advise whether it is a good drive to go to any other suggestion and if I need different drivers for the drive to work or is it just a straight swap out.

See you soon,.

Hello

Before you buy a slim drive you must be sure that this drive is compatible with the Satellite A40.
There is a big difference between external drives for desktop PCs and laptops.
The master/slave/c-salt settings on slim drives are fixed and cannot be changed.

If you buy a slim with wrong settings drive, the BIOS does not recognize the drive and you'll get an error IDE #1.

I recommend that you contact the service provider allowed in your country and ask guys for compatible DVD burner for you A40.

As a reader of DVD-R/RW compatible, you can use the Toshiba SD-R6112 or drive Pioneer G8CC0001L810 drive.
I also found some readers of DVD-Multi (CD-R/RW DVD-RAM/R/RW) compatible:
Panasonic G8CC00019810
TEAC G8CC00013810

Sorry for the strange number, but I guess these are the numbers of Toshiba.
Try google. You may find a full name.

  • Satellite A60: Question about upgrade from the CD - RW drive

I have a laptop A60 sitting with a CD-ROM/DVD-ROM drive. I want to upgrade to a CD-RW/DVD-ROM drive. I understand that I have the choice between UJDA 750 and the SD-R2512. Someone can offer a preference and I need firmware / drivers for these to work?
Is it simply a matter of just replacing the unit?

    Thank you.

    Hello

I assume that the best idea is to have the DVD burner. In this case, there is possibility to burn CDs and DVDs all formats. I found the info A60 also comes with super-multi drive (TEAC DV-W24E) and this should be also compatible with your A60.

For the feature, the firmware is not relevant as the compatibility of the player.

  • Satellite A40 - question about upgrading the processor

If I upgrade my Satellite A40 processor with hyper-threading technology to 3 .00GHz, the problem s s don't past not my chipset for hypo threads, should I have a problem on my terms of portable?...

    Hello

If you open your notebook and do something about yourself, you will lose your warranty.

Just FYI; the processors used in laptops are connected to the motherboard using a process called TCP (tape carrier package). It is a method of permanent connection and is used in the interest of miniaturization and heat dissipation. As far as I know because of this method of connection, upgrade the CPU is not possible.

    Good luck!

  • IDE #1 ERROR Satellite A40-151 - no upgrade of the dvd/cd player

    Hello
Yesterday, I was using my A40-151, as I do every day, and I noticed that I don't have a dvd player on my computer anymore. I opened the drive and put a cd inside. The player makes all the usual noise and then stopped, but there was still not a dvd drive on my computer icon.

I rebooted and noticed that the IDE #1 Error message appears at the top right of the screen on power upward. eventually the laptop just starts as normal, and all operations seem normal (touch wood!).

I have not upgraded / removed the drive. In fact I've never opened the laptop once and it was a year ago to upgrade the RAM.

I "googled" the problem, but I'm still no wiser despite a few threads on various reading forums.

I'd appreciate any help that my thesis is due soon and I need my car!

    Hello

This error usually appears because of the evil master /slave on the STRANGE settings.
But in this case, the BIOS would not recognize the drive and it is not possible to boot from the CD/DVD-ROM.
So maybe the problem is related to another question.

    Hello

How have you tried to ask Toshiba? As far as I know, you can ask the service provider authorized in your country information but not a Toshiba directly.

However, I studied a bit here in the forum and found this thread:
    http://forums.computers.Toshiba-Europe.com/forums/thread.jspa?threadID=13208&MessageID=48597

    and this one

It seems that there is no official information, but the user henrivdw has updated the A30 (similar to A40) with 80 GB HARD drive successfully.

  • Satellite C70D - how to start from the DVD

    Hello
You just bought a Satellite C70D with Win 8.1. Everything works (as much as I know to knowledge), except start it from the DVD. I disabled the Secure Boot in the bios and changed the boot order on a DVD first, then USB and HARD drive. The DVD player starts, but then it jumps on the HARD disk and Windows is started. First time I tried there was a message like "DVD boot not supported" or something like that.
The DVD is bootable, so it's not the problem.
I want to install Linux Mint alongside Windows.
Someone has already solved this problem?

Update: changing of UEFI CMS in the Advanced BIOS tab at the start of the DVD, but Windows no longer starts. Is it possible to boot from DVDE and still be able to start Windows as well?

  • Satellite A40: Question about product dvd recovery

    Hello

Please help me on my computer toshiba Satellite A40 laptop...
I want to reformat my HARD drive with operating system XP...

My first question is, it installs my XP OS after that I run the recovery cd?
I'm afraid that after I run the recovery cd, I'll lose my OS XP...

I don't have an XP CD... I only got this product recovery cd (disc1)

There a disc2 because the cd that I got was just disc1...

    Please help me with this...
    Thank you

Restore CD contains recovery image. Recovery image include the operating system, drivers, utilities and software tools extra.

When you install recovery image you own preinstalled WXP. For cell old models were most two disks: 1/2 and 2/2 so if you the second you will not be able to install the OS completely.

  • Satellite A100-334: Question about upgrading from XP to Vista

I need help to upgrade my A100-334 to vista!
I use the disks provided by toshiba. It is said that the new Bios is already installed (vers.5.60).

After running the second drive it says I need to uninstall Driver driver/BD DVD-RAM and Toshiba configfree.

Then he said that the following issues will not prevent the upgrade of the execution but that some applications or elements may not work properly. The list is long.

    Here are some examples:
Diagnostic tool for TOSHIBA, Sun Java Scheduler, TOSHIBA controls, Bluetooth TOSHIBA Power saver settings and so on.

It is recommended to uninstall all of these objects?
    What can I do?

I appreciate any help thanks - Detlef

    Hi Detlef

Well, what to say if I understand your question you didn t make a new, clean install Vista, but you tried to upgrade the full XP to Vista.

I don't wonder that this doesn't update good conduct and that you get notifications on the tools and driver compatibility issues.

The fact is that many drivers, tools and utilities that are designed for the operating system XP don t run on the Vista operating system. That is why it s necessary and desirable to remove any programs that are not compatible with Vista!

In my opinion, you must perform a clean installation of Vista, and then you can download and install all the drivers Toshiba Vista required and utilities.

Best regards and greetings to Germany ;)

  • Satellite A200SE - Questions about upgrading the HARD drive

I am trying to upgrade the disk of 60 GB to 250 GB. The operating system is Windows Vista Business. The new drive is a Western Digital Scorpio SATA.

1 - image backup of the disk system external HARD using backup/restore Vista
    2. use the system recovery disk to reload Windows.
3 - the disk is formatted and Windows installs apparently. (From recovery disk.)
    4. after reboot, Setup is aborted with message saying (roughly) "Setup cannot continue because of the configuration".
5 - as usual the message gives no indication as to the cause.

All the tips and forums involve replacing drive HARD is simple. Does anyone have an idea?

    Ideas would be very appreciated!

    Hi scamp126,

I m wondering recovery disc doesn t work because usually this disk still works, you install a new HARD drive

What you can try is a Microsoft Windows disk. Perhaps that the recovery disk is scratched and the files can't be read properly.

  • Question about upgrading to the Aspire 5542-1462

I wanted to improve my Aspire 5542-1462 memory from 4 GB to 8 GB, but I was told that since my Aspire 5542-1462 has two locations of memory with cards of 2 GB each and the PC can handle 4 GB, my PC is not expandable memory to 8 GB is it true? And how can I upgrade the RAM or the HARD DRIVE if possible, thanks in advance http://www.cnet.com/laptops/acer-aspire-5542-1462/4505-3121_7-33895355.html < with="" 2="" memory="">

I'm afraid that it seems that you are correct, at least as much as I can tell from my research (fast).  The alternative is to reduce the amount of memory that uses the operating system, including the essential utilities (such as the antivirus/anti-spyware), stop programs and services running in the background that you don't need and so on.  There is a lot of information on the internet about optimizing Windows.

    Good luck!

    Hello
I have a computer laptop 'satellite 1700-500' with Windows XP Home SP2 operating system installed and wish to update.
    1. thesis topic:
My wish is to extend more than 512 MB memory, if possible. The user manual mentions that the maximum ram is 192 MB so added a module of memory of 128 MB (64 MB of non-removable memory). But the program "SiSoftware Sandra Pro 2005" detects and indicates:
    "Number of memory slots: 3.
    "Bank0(64M), Bank1(64MB), Bank2 (empty).
    "Maximum Installable memory 1 GB.

I see only a single slot in the memory compartment. Where is "Bank2?
According to data of Sandra, I install a module of 512 MB increasing memory in a total of 576 MB? What do you suggest for me? Finally, what is the maximum memory extension of this machine? What types, models and brands of memory I can install? buffered or not?

    2. on the hard disk:
Can I install a 120 GB ATA-100 drive? Otherwise, what is the maximum size that can be installed?
    BIOS have been updated (v 1.30 (a)

Please tell me details in both cases.
    Thank you very much.

    Hello

The 1700-500dvd Satellite has an internal memory of 64 MB. According to the user manual it of not possible to remove it. In addition you can upgrade memory for max 192 MB (64 MB + 128 MB). There is a max value.

In addition, these modules are supported:
    32 MB PA3003U memory
    PA3004U 64 MB of memory
    PA3005U 128 MB of memory

  • Question about restoring from the download in the libraries tab

Its pretty much exactly as the title suggests.

l accidentally moved the shortcut for my tab download in the library section and the stupid thing doesn't let me bring him back.

If the click with the right button on library and click on restore it does not bring back the short cut of download. l know right stupid?

In my explorer, "downloads" is a favorite not a library.

You right click on library or favorite? If you click library, try Favorites and "restore favorite links."

  • Satellite C660 don't start from the HDDs or recovery

    Hi people,

Post this question for my neighbor, as there is now no internet access as mobile does not not - Satellite C660 running Win7.

In the event of power he gets the Toshiba screen then a white screen with the cursor at the top left flashing.

Tried to boot from the DVD of Win7 (you press F12 for boot & changed options on DVD), can hear the reader tries to access the dvd but then get the message 'impossible '. DVD of Win7 works in my laptop and desktop pc computer.

    Any ideas.

    Thank you

    Nigel

    > When the power he gets the Toshiba screen then a white screen with the cursor at the top left flashing.

    Possibly the HARD drive died.
That try you to the power of the unit and press F2
Now you should be able to access the BIOS.

If the disk HARD isn t appearing on the first page of the BIOS, this means that HDD isn't recognised by the BIOS, which means that the HARD drive is faulty.

  • Cannot install the boot from the DVD - OEM of Windows 7 (full)

Generally, I am able to reset the priority of readers, so a computer will boot from a DVD.  It's my first time on Win7 and I can't make it work.  Insert the disc in Windows (XP currently installed - 'not real') indicates the drive is not compatible with this version of Windows.  I thought that booting from the DVD would help, but I'm prompted to "press any key to boot from the CD/DVD" and every time he ignores me and goes backward to boot from the XP/hard drive.

At this point, I tried to affect the CD/DVD drive that all the priorities, not only the first condition.  I tried to use the other DVD player because there is another - still no luck.  Isn't this updated software in place to work this way?  It should be bootable, no?

    Thanks for any help...

Here's a question I would ask. Your computer is 64-bit compatible? If it isn't, it's probably one of the reasons why you would receive this error message. Please run the Windows Upgrade Advisor to see if your computer is ready for 64-bit.

  • every time I try to load it from the DVD the error appears as: "the application could not be started because SPWIZENG.» DLL was not found. Reinstalling the application may fix this problem. »

    Original title: SPWIZENG.dll

Hi, I got a cd of Windows 7 from my friend who is a software engineer so he gets all the programs (operating systems). It burned in a DVD instead of CD. So, every time I try to load from the DVD the error appears as:

«The application failed to start because SPWIZENG.» DLL was not found. Reinstalling the application may fix this problem. »

Then when I click ok, it says:

The file 'Autorun.dll' could not be loaded or is corrupt. Setup cannot continue.

Help, please. I'm not good with computers and I honestly don't know what to do.

    Thanks in advance,

    :)

    Hello

Are you able to play or open other CD or DVD?

Step 1: These error messages may be due to corrupted media. Try to use the same media on another computer and check if you are able to use it.

Step 2: Search for the issue in the clean boot state.

From your computer by using a minimal set of drivers and startup programs so that you can determine if a background program is interfering with your game or program. This type of boot is known as a "clean boot".

    Reference:
How to configure Windows XP to start in a "clean boot" State
    http://support.Microsoft.com/kb/310353

When you are finished troubleshooting, follow these steps to reset the computer to start as usual:
    1. click on start and then click Run.
    2. type msconfig and click OK.

The System Configuration Utility dialog box appears.

    3. click on the tab general, click Normal Startup - load all services and device drivers and then click OK.
    4. When prompted, click on restart to restart the computer.
