  The problem of memory could be responsible for BSOD, but if this BSOD appears only using USB drive then I would recommend testing other external USB HDD.

  Hi all,

  I recently bought my new laptop A500 and I am facing a strange problem [about the usefulness of the VAP (?)].
  A have installed all the drivers compatible + latest version of the bios on the official site for my model (windows 7 64-bit, a500-1gh-PSAR9E) and I have the following problems:

  (i) the ECO button does not work (I hear the characteristic beep sound when I touch it and its cord flashes once, but nothing happens and the button is not turning green - it turns to green but only when I turn on ECO Utility from the utility application ECO)
  (II) the key backlight illumination does not work either (the noise is heard again and it flashes once but nothing happens)
  (III) the button that activates / deactivates my (located just above the touchpad) touchpad does not work either (but FN + F9 to toggle the touchpad)

  I would also like to mention the following (if he can be of any help). When I uninstall the VAP utility:

  (i) ECO button has the same behavior, as described above
  (II) backlight touch key now works perfectly as a button on / off SOUND (MUTE)
  (III) Touchpad toggle button works perfectly.

  I don't understand what the problem is... it would be a mismatch of latest version VAP?
  Any help would be appreciated!

  The whole story is really strange and I m room very important is missing:
  Have you noticed this problem from the first moment (after only the first beginning OS) or later?

  To be honest I have don t think anyone here will be able to explain why this happens. Maybe some software Toshiba experts can do this, but I don't think you will get such explanation here.
  Why discuss it here and wait a few comments? If the laptop is new, I presume that there is possibility to install recovery image once more to see if everything works again.

  To do this, you can use HARD drive recovery facility. Do it and test the functionality with the factory settings.

  Yes, it is a known problem with the vga driver in this forum. Already, you said it yourself, nobody has solved this problem :( I can just recommend you try to install a vga from nvidia.com driver. In my case, I have NVIDIA Gt 230 M, driver update has solved.

• Satellite A500 - video/dvd player is not compatible with Windows 10

  After having recently updated of my laptop for windows 10 I discovered that the dvd player does not work. A message is displayed informing that the player is not compatible with this version of windows. A scan using Norton suggests dvd will not work because it needs to be configured.

  Usually the CPU upgrade not is not supported by Toshiba... but if you use the CPU of the same family of CPU (i5 - 520 M, i5 - 540 M), then you should have a good chance that the laptop would be compatible with this CPU... but I would not recommend these updates.

  Why?
  (1) you will not see any performance gain
  (2) you will lose the warranty

  I boot from dvd press the option to install windows 7 and then I get the following error message:
