Satellite A500-1GL - fails self-test on start up

My A500-1GL fails self-test on startup upward and freezes with screen Toshiba is innovation leader displayed. Try F2 for Setup and F12 for the boot menu in which two cases, in what it says entering start menu or enter the setup and remains like that.

The manual even tried F7 to find the computer from scratch, but nothing, even the CD drive does not open. Very frustrating.

Can someone help me with this please?

Hello

> F2 tried for menu setup and F12 for start in which menu two cases, she said entry menu or entering the Setup program starts and stay like that.

It may be Bios or hardware malfunction. Sorry, mate, but I think you should contact the Asp (SAV). I guess your knees is small stream under warranty, so can be fixed for free

    Hi freddo

Have you tried to load default BIOS settings?
Entry of the parameters press F9 BIOS and save the settings.

    Check if this happens again.

  • Satellite A500-1GL - cannot upgrade the BIOS

    Hello

I tried to upgrade the BIOS on my Satellite A500-1GL (PSAR9E) for awhile now, but a dead battery so I can not go beyond the security check at the beginning. Is it all of the way around it, like I'm connected with current alternative, so I don't see what the problem is! Could I have possibly self-extracting zip files.

Any help would be appreciated as this is very frustrating!

    Hello

I think that you will not be able to update the BIOS, if your battery is dead.
Victory based BIOS update can be updated from Windows system, and there is a security option that allow you to update the BIOS only if the laptop is connected to the power adapter and if the battery is charged.

You can update the BIOS using a traditional BIOS version, but as far as I know that Toshiba service partner could do that.

    If you have two options:
Purchase a battery in order to update the BIOS by using win according to BIOS version or you will get in touch with an ASP in your country and will ask you to update the BIOS by using the traditional version of BIOS.

But the BIOS update is necessary to you?

I have a laptop with the old BIOS version and I don't have that day even if the new version has been released.

  • Satellite A500-1GL: recovery reached Office Reboot again and again - solved

I did a restore on my Satellite A500-1GL using F8 to recovery on the HARD drive.

However after the computer goes through the implementation of Windows 7 for the first time, from desktop it immediately disconnects and restarts.

This process of setting up Windows for the first time, including initialization screen white with logoff bar then immediate green and stop constantly repeats.

Same result with Recovery CD I created again.

It is no longer an option to repair the computer when you press F8.

    Any suggestions please?

If I end up having to reinstall Windows 7 from another copy, then how can I go about it like
Windows 7 license serial number rubbed off the label on the bottom of the laptop?

    Thanks in advance.

    -* SOLVED * -.

-It turns out that he must restart about 6 - 7 times to complete the installation.

    Hello

As I see that everything is fine. It is logical that laptop restarts several times while recovery facility is running. I do not know how it looks with your machine, but when I use the recovery machine it starts with the number 1/64. With other words, it must be installed 64 components (software) and then some of them laptop restarts simply but installation will continue.

When the recovery image is complete it is still displayed on the screen and the laptop owner is notified that installation of recovery has been completed successfully.

  • Satellite A500-1GL - slow WiFi

Bought a Satellite A500-1GL, because he promised performance a few weeks ago and I was disappointed.
Lasts longer the laptop much longer than children should start up, but this isn't the painful question, I had struggled to trouble.
When connected to the router it downloads to 9,46 Mb/s but I bought a laptop for mobile convenience.
When there is wireless download speed gives a very painful 0.09 Mb/s.
Here's what I've tried so far.

Seller told me it was a problem of Internet Explorer and download Firefox.
It took nearly an hour and has not made a difference.
I disabled the virus checking and firewall individually and collectively and no help.

Was told to change the channel on the router, I've done and no difference.

Then said that if I changed the TX auto at 100% power level the problem should be solved.
Download but always at the same painful level.

Laptop of the child works very well exactly in the same places in the House, at 9 more Mbps, where my brand new Toshiba crawls to 0.09, or sometimes 0.10 MB/s.

I also tried to turn all devices wireless into house arrest, but it did not help.

Can someone help me please. I'm at my wits end and regretting spending so much money on this «high-performance notebook»

Oh, I'm on Windows 7, have updated the Realtek RTL8191SE Wireless LAN 802.11n PCI-E NIC and am ready for the hills.

Have now updated the WLAN and the BIOS (?) but still not good.
A lot of reading of problems like that of machines Toshiba.
Really thought it was a good brand.
    Blood pressure is very high.
I guess I'll be back tomorrow and get my money back.

  • Satellite A500-1GL - power of Windows 7 and the games options

    Hi all

Some know maybe my previous posts about my problem with the fan on my Satellite A500-1GL worry when I'm online game. It is disturbing to hit the 90%. And his pass even with the update of the BIOS and Toshiba now advise to do a factory restore then fails to send in for repair.
    Looking at the power options,

I was wondering if someone could recommend this power options I should consider and it would have made no difference for the wise game fan (secondlife seems to be the main problem with the fan turn the crank to the top)

Any help would be appreciated, trying to think of something that might help which may be a simple solution to this problem of fan
    Torti :)

    Hello

To be honest, a lot of activity of fan during the games would be normal I think because games need a lot of CPU and GPU power, they always run at a very high level. This means a lot of heat will occur and it must be cooled to avoid damage.

Of more if I have the games, it s not important how the fan noise creates because I hear music or dialogue game Isn t it so? ;)

In any case, from time to time it s advisable to clean the cooling system of your laptop using a jet of compressed air:
[How to clean a Toshiba laptop cooling system? | http://forums.computers.toshiba-europe.com/forums/ann.jspa?annID=40]

And for games, you can use high power option or balanced Windows Performance.

  • Satellite A500-1GL - Video driver not responding

I have a _ * Satellite A500-1GL * with the _ _ * Nvidia GeForce GT 330 M * _. When I use the webcam and watch a few videos the screen goes black and is showed the following error:

_ * "VIDEO DRIVER IS NOT RESPONDING AND WAS RECOVERED SUCCESSFULLY. DRIVER NVIDIA WINDOWS KERNEL MODE DRIVER, VERSION 275.33 VIDEO UNRESPONSIVE AND WAS RECOVERED SUCCESSFULLY. » *_

I've already updated the video driver and the bios did not work. _ Yes * I can't use webcam * _. Since I bought the laptop, I have this problem and I can not solve.

    Help, please!

    Thank you

    Hello

The version of the video driver 275.33 is not an official version of Toshiba. I checked the Web from Toshiba site and for your model of laptop (model PSAR9E number) version 8.16.11.8875 is the most recent. So I recommend installing this display driver because it s pre-tested Toshiba designed for your model of laptop display driver.

    I hope that helps! :)

  • Satellite A500-1GL - graphic card problem and overheating

    TOSHIBA SATELLITE A500-1GL - I almost year.
Already, the first problem appeared immediately after the purchase.
After a telephone conversation with the service and install some problem driver disappeared but unfortunately it was another, computer laptop start overheating especially on games but evan on movies more make strange noise.
I ve already used about 7 different cooling pads but none of them helped, I change the fan settings, cleaning by compressed air did not help at all.

Is there a way I can fix this?

Should I send it to Toshiba as it is still under warranty?

Can you please tell us what is the first problem?
To be honest, you should let Toshiba service to check this and give you 100% of mobile working.

What you want to do? If the same symptoms are there even if laptop with factory settings, I think it is certainly the issue of guarantee.

  • F2 BIOS SET-UP button stopped working on the Satellite A500-1GL

    I recently bought a Satellite A500-1GL
The use of the F2 key at startup to access the BIOS worked fine until I changed the settings in BIOS to get a faster position for Windows 7, then after this change, that the F2 key gets me to the BIOS, the computer laptop just posts to Windows 7.

I downloaded and installed Hardware Set Up program of Toshiba which adjusts the BIOS settings while still in Windows, but how the "F2" to work again?
I thought changing the hard drive might work, but it did not.
I seemed to have lost access to the bios using the F2 key.

    > changed the settings in the BIOS to get a faster position for Windows 7
Now to maybe stupid question, but what is the name of this option?

When you start your laptop you see on the background info on the use of F2 to enter the BIOS settings, or too?

  • Touchpad no longer works after update BIOS on Satellite A500-1GL

    Hello world

I just bought my laptop Satellite A500-1GL today. I started at the top and plays a bit (nothing serious). The touchpad worked very well at the moment.

Then I discovered this tool to update the material and the update of the BIOS that worked without any problems. After I restarted the laptop, BIOS, loaded the default values of the installation and recorded.
After that Windows 7 (x 64) started the touchpad no longer works...

I downloaded the driver here and installed again once, still does not. I went into the BIOS, disabled the touchpad (I thought that maybe it's a bug...) and started again. It still does not...

I enabled it again in the BIOS, tried to push the function + F9, but it still does not... Finally, I used the recovery and installed a Windows 7 costs.
    But unfortunately it still doesn't.

Now, I'm out of ideas, can anyone help?
Is there a chance to get the older version of BIOS to downgrade it?

    Thanks in advance ;)

    Hello

It seems strange that after update Bios touchpad no longer works.

    > Is there a chance to get the older version of BIOS to downgrade it?

To be honest, I don't know where to find. In any case, do a search on Google. Perhaps, other users of the forum can give you a link to download.
The downgrade of the Bios is riskier upgrade procedure. So, be careful the next time...
Advice for the future; Do not touch the running system.

    Good luck!

I accidentally spilled a drink on my keyboard of my Toshiba Satellite A500-1GL.

    Hello

You should turn the unit upside down and have to wait as the dry reel.
In the best of cases that the unit should turns correctly but it could be possible that your motherboard or another party as a RAM module or keyboard could be affected.

Something similar happened to my girlfriend s book. In my case the RAM module was dead and laptop could no longer starts up I have replaced the RAM and was happy to see the Toshiba homepage

I recently bought a Toshiba A500 1GL. No sooner had started kicking fan who is very very loud and continuous.

The new laptop does the same thing, the fan is so noisy.

I have two other laptops Toshiba and nor do anywhere near as much noise and are not on as often.

    Hi mate

Fan activities depend on the heat dissipation!
There is a simple explanation; more the CPU and GPU, the higher heat dissipation and a higher temperature which requires stronger and faster fans!

If don t wonder about this fact!
What you can do is to allow the Eco utility.
You can also change some settings and the option in Windows 7 power management!

You can find and beautiful how here:
    http://forums.computers.Toshiba-Europe.com/forums/Ann.jspa?annID=41

Very interesting is the option called: TOSHIBA Power Saver Settings-> cooling method
