Satellite A500 and TV tuner feature

Hi all

I have a satellite A500 mahcine (PSAR9A - 01 H 001), who was supposedly a digital tv tuner integrated in it.

When I got to the machine he had windows 7 home - which has been upgraded to the work for Win 7 teacher I needed access to the domain.

The thing is that there is no sign in the hardware of a tv tuner card Manager and WMC reports no card installed.

Ive tried to download and install the drivers from the toshiba site, but it's just runs and does nothing

Someone told me everything clues how to get this running thing (if it actually comes out)

Thank you

Hello

What do you mean with supposedly? Has your laptop TV tuner or not?
I tried to find the exact specification for laptop, but unfortunately I didn't find it.

I ve checked the Toshiba download page and wasn't able to find the driver TV tuner so I think that your model of laptop (PSAR9A) - 001 01 H has not.

By the way: If your laptop is a TV tuner on the right side for laptop it should be placed taking TV tuner. It should be between the ports USB and DC Jack.

  • Satellite A500 and annoying problem HDMI

    Hello world

I bought a Satellite A500 a year ago and I'm trying to use it with my Pannasonic Veria Plasma TV connected via HDMI. The way I use it is I leave the HDMI cable connected all the time and then swap between the use of the TV and my laptop. The problem I have is that it will not failover to the HDMI, I even try to disconnect the cable and by him plugging back in - then the screen turns off to switch but then it goes to the rear of the laptop screen.

After doing during up to 10 times it will eventually reverse but will then swap back to the laptop after about 10 seconds and that case I must keep trying until it finally works - VERY BORING

    Hoping someone can help.

    Thank you

    The

And what happens when you start your laptop without HDMI cable connected?
Connect when the OS is fully charged, then when the active TV and HDMI port correctly, try to switch to TV ONLY using FN + F5.

It works or the same thing happens again?

I understand your question, but there is not a special solution. Connection HDMI either works or not.

By the way: do you use original with Toshiba drivers Toshiba (preinstalled OS) recovery image?

  • Satellite A500 and use external monitor

    Hello

I bought recently (yesterday) a Toshiba Satellite A500.

I am using an external monitor AND the laptop screen. At this point, the two screens are working well but have the same images/windows.

I want to do is have each screen show another window/program running and being able to drag and drop etc seamlessly between screens.

When I bought the laptop, I asked about this and was informed that Windows would recognize the second monitor and would encourage me to choose from a list of display options, however it is not happened.

    Can you help me?

    Kind regards

What you need is the parameters of good monitors. So what you have now is the clone mode and you need to enlarge the bureau. I put t know precise adjustments on this model of laptop, but enter the screen resolution settings and check if there is possibility to enlarge the bureau. If not, t go into the advanced settings and check if you can find it here.

I Don t monitor external and impossible to check it for you, but I m you will find.

  • Satellite A500 - crackling sounds and blue screen

    Hey everybody.

I bought a laptop Toshiba Satellite A500-19w about 4 days ago (today it is Sunday, March 7, 2010).

I had the sounds of crackling of my speakers which have been mentioned so many times in the forums, no real solution.
I also experienced the crash of the blue screen, that's already happened 7 times while I was not strongly using my newly buy laptop.
I'm not looking for a repair or a replacement, because I find it quite unacceptable to have to think about the errors, faults & fixes as much as the laptop is brand new.

What I want is a refund, but I'm not sure on how to do it.

I know that Toshiba has some sort of refund policy, but if someone can tell me exactly how it works, because I want to get rid of my laptop as soon as possible (I will not buy any more portable Toshiba, especially since I had some similar problems with my Qosmio f30).
If someone can give me some guidance, because I don't want to be mocked or used and cheated out of refund.
I bought my Toshiba in the Middle East (perhaps refund policies are different here).
    Thank you.

    Hi mihran.

If you want to pay off your laptop, you should talk with your computer store where you bought it. Only the can repay your laptop and not Toshiba directly.
Of course it is also depending on the country where you life, but normally you can pay within 14 days I think. So in your case I speak with the seller or give them a call. They explain how to do this.

But let me give you a little advice: regarding your problems with the crackling sound and blue screen I recommend that you contact an authorized service provider or ask a new A500 (this should be possible if you have only 4 days). Generally, I can say that a friend of mine has Satellite A500 and he is quite satisfied with her. This laptop has a great design equipped with new material for a good price. :)

  • Satellite A500 - upgrade the processor and RAM void my warranty?

I have a Toshiba Satellite A500, and I think to upgrade my processor CPU and RAM. If I open it invalidate or do I need a Toshiba authority to open it? Removes the card RAM will void the warranty?

All I need to know is that can I put RAM and CPU processor without voiding the warranty

    Hey,.

If you upgrade the CPU, you will cancel the warranty because this upgrade is not supported from Toshiba.
In addition, I put t understand why you buy a laptop, and then you think of some hardware upgrades. In your case, I'd rather bought a laptop with faster processor and more RAM.

See also this article from Toshiba:
[Is it possible to upgrade the CPU or GPU of a Toshiba laptop computer? | http://APS2.Toshiba-tro.de/KB0/TSB9401AX0001R01.htm]

Finally and above all a RAM upgrade is not a problem. So check your user manual how to do this.

  • Satellite A500 Win8 has encountered a problem during installation

    Hello
Ive got a Satellite A500 and get at the end of the installation and its reversal to say he had a problem. Do you need to do something special?

I looked on the site to support Toshiba win 8 and it does not show the Satellite A500 in one of the lists of supported or not supported for Win8 so because you did it gave me some hope.

    See you soon

    Hello

Here you can find information on models of laptops that will make the Win 8 Toshiba Upgrade Wizard:
    http://APS2.toshiba-tro.de/KB0/TSB2A03EU0000R01.htm

Those notebooks of Win 7 will get Win 8 drivers.
If your laptop is not mentioned in this list, then you will get no win 8 drivers.

Of course, you can always install the 8 to win but you need find drivers manually in your own hand.

  • Satellite A500: card reader cause BSOD

Hi I have a satellite A500 and its card reader (jmicron) is dead.
It is for me a bsod.
I solved my problem without installing driver jmicron and use xp.
In win 7 gives me a bsod always because win 7 driver jmicron.

    My question is:
Can I remove the motherboard card reader?

    Sorry for my English thanks

No, you can't do that I think that the card reader is part of the mobo and it s not removable.
But you can turn off the card reader in Device Manager.
Have you tried that? If this isn't it!

  • Satellite A500 - mousepad crashes whenever I go on the internet

    Hi all

I have a Toshiba Satellite A500 and every time I go on the internet my mouse pad freezes. The only option I have is to restart the computer again. This is getting very frustrating because I don't know what to do?
If anyone can help it would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

    See you soon

    Karen.

    Hello, Karen

To be honest I have never heard of something like this and you believe one with this strange issue.
I would like to know since when you noticed this? I can't imagine that this problem persists since the first day.
You have an original preinstalled operating system?

I guess the first step can be updated to BIOS. Latest version of the BIOS is installed on your laptop satellite?

  • Satellite A500: Low resolution using Win 7

    Hello

I have looked around the forum and have found no real solution to my problem so...
I recently bought a Satellite A500 and did a clean installation of Windows 7 Professional on this subject.

Apparently, I had to just update to keep the drivers, but being the noob that I am, I have not.
So now that my resolution is stuck at 1024 x 768 or 800 x 600, neither of which are native.

I downloaded the drivers 64-bit win7 on the Toshiba site, but apparently, I already have the latest ATI driver installed.
However, I can't always change the resolution, and my monitor is recognized as generic non - PnP.
Is it possible to check if I have the display driver?

And also all the solutions for the display problem would be very grateful. It's the only thing that remains now bothering me on this new laptop.

    Hello

I assume you are using Win 7 64 bit OS because you selected the display of Win 7 64-bit driver is good?

    What A500-xxx you have exactly?
The European driver Toshiba page provides three different display drivers for the A500 series. Intel, nVidia and ATI
Seems three different graphics chips were installed in series A500

You should first check what graphics chip using your laptop
Then go to Device Manager and uninstall the display driver.
Then visit the page of the European driver Toshiba, download the display on the right for the graphics chip driver and install it.

Then restart the device and check how would go to the laptop.

    Welcome them

  • Satellite A500 - nothing appears on the screen of laptop

My laptop is a Satellite A500 and I had for about a year and a half, he has never dropped or slammed, and up to this point, it worked correctly, most of the time.

One night, I unplugged and turned it off and the next morning, the display would not work. There was no flicker and the display had never before gone so far here. Curiously, some of the LEDs on the laptop keyboard area stopped work as well, such as the light touch pad, the volume key, etc..
However, the webcam and power/network lights still work. In addition to these problems, everything still works and I can still use an external monitor, such as a monitor.

Based on these details, does anyone have an idea as to what is the problem? Or how I should go about fixing it?

If there is no reaction on the screen there must be a problem with the LCD connection to the motherboard.

Without accurate diagnosis, it is not easy to say exactly, what may be defective. Fact is that all these symptoms say there must be a hardware problem and you should clear it with Toshiba service.

    Warranty is still valid?

  • Re: Satellite A500 - keyboard is not recognized

    Hello

I have a Satellite A500 and I can't get the computer to recognize the keystrokes when I type my password to get into the computer. This is why I can't on the computer at all. The cursor flashes in the password box and when I click it with the mouse also recognizes this function but I can't go any further.
This has happened a number of times now and it's been really annoying

Does anyone have a solution for this please? Is it to do with tapping? FN + F9 don't working.

    Australian salvation,

You mean the password for your Windows user account? Normally, if you start the computer, you can begin with password enter because the cursor blinks already in the password box.

Can you enter the password if you connect an external keyboard? If so, this would mean that the internal keyboard is defective. In addition, it would be interesting to know if you can access the BIOS by pressing F2 on the internal keyboard. So, you can check if the problem comes from related software or not.

By the way: FN + F9 can only toggle the touchpad, but not the keyboard.
