Satellite A500 - display driver failed

Hello

Recently, my three year old Toshiba A500 (0400E PSAM3A) has started to display the message "Display Driver failed" and the screen became all BEHLULI and weird. I'm sure it's the graphics card, open the computer self and he cleaned it with an air compressor that makes it better for one day, but then he returned to normal. I also formatted which did not help.

I just want a second opinion as to whether it IS in fact the graphics card (not drivers), and if replacement of the graphics card would be a possibility? I had a quick glance when I was cleaning up the outside, and the map is not soldered to the motherboard.

Any advice would be great,
Thanks in advance!

Did you notice this problem when you start Notepad in safe mode too?
Have you also tried to reinstall the recovery image and test the feature with the factory settings? Is - this result is the same?

General replacement of the GPU is not supported, and because of the design of specific laptops (cooling system) GPU shouldn't be improved.
Replacement? Can you do this alone eventually?

    Hello!
    I have a portable Satellite A500-1EE causing me trouble lately. Several times a day, the screen goes black and after a few seconds, it retrieves, with the message:
    "Display driver has stopped and recovered. Display NVIDIA Windows Kernel Mode Driver, Version 257.21 driver stopped responding and has successfully recovered."

    Please give me advice on how to solve the problem.

    Thank you

    From time to time it happens on my P500 too but especially if I look at a Web page with flash player but after driver recover everything is OK again.
    To be honest, I don't see it as a major problem.

    Is there a particular situation when it occurs on your A500?

  • Satellite A500 - display driver stopped responding

    Hello

    3 weeks ago, I bought a brand new Toshiba A500. I post here because I found no useful solution.
    Here are the specs:

    Processor: intel core i3 M330 2.13 GHz
    Graphics: NVIDIA GeForce GT 330M (1024 MB)
    Hard drive: MJA2320BH G2 (320 GB, 5400 RPM, SATA-II)
    RAM: 2 X 2 GB DDR3 - 1066 DDR3 SDRAM (7-7-7-20 @ 533 MHz) (6-6-6-18 @ 457 MHz)
    Audio: Realtek ALC272 @ Intel Ibex Peak PCH
    System: Windows 7 64-bit, made at Toshiba

    The question is: random situations, the screen is in turn black for a few seconds, then the message is pop up saying "display driver stopped responding and has recovered - display driver NVIDIA Kernel Mode Driver, Version 187.98 stopped responding and has successfully recovered" It happens several times a day.

    Display driver sometimes can not be recovered and the system hangs and must be reset. Problem occur on the first day after five minutes of use (when it was not install anything without OS).

    Problem always occurs during normal operation with applications (MS office, firefox, etc.). It's completely random - there are no two the same situations - so when I look at youtube on full screen hd movies it crashes several times, but when I restart the OS and to play the same movie, it works properly.

    Causes of demand, this problem is called TDR (timeout detection and recovery).
    This application GPU reset when get failed for 2 sec. But in a register of Windows7 have entered controlled this application.

    Since I tried following solutions:
    -Updated BIOS.
    -System of resettlement;
    -Display driver update to version 197.16;
    -Check the temperature on the graphics card (when the problem occurs on the graphics card temperature does not exceed 47deg and 36deg processor);
    -Java Update (old version of can of Java causes some device problems);
    -Updated adobe (even Java);
    -Disable aero;
    -Updates of Windows 7;
    -Disable audio (realtek card);

    None of them works.

    The problem occurs during the games (i.ex. The Witcher). I can play 8 hours and nothing weird happens.
    I noticed that this problem occurs also during opening some applications or enter new tasks (when demand for energy is growing rapidly).

    I'm asking this is a driver problem or should I return the laptop to the service.
    I suspect that the problem may be large difference of voltage on the graphics card but I can not verified that.

    If anyone has experience this problem, I'd appreciate any help.

    Hello

    I had the same problem with my A500-1dn equipped GT 230 M, the message, the display driver stopped responding. I've updated the video card driver from nvidia.com 3 weeks ago and since that time, it ' s gone (hopefully forever).

  • Satellite A500: display driver & CD burning problem

    I have problems with the Nvidia Windows Kernel Mode Driver Version 187.98. I went back to Harvey Norman where I bought it and they said to update the driver. I got the update and it still happens. Sometimes more than 6 times within a few hours.

    Now I have problems burning photos on a disc.

    I really want to have this computer at the door and I have had for 3 months and have had nothing else into trouble with him.
    All Satellite A500 work like that

    > All Satellite A500 work like that
    I don t think so

    You must use the Toshiba graphics card driver in most cases that these drivers are pre-tested and should work correctly. BIOS should be also updated!

    > Now, I have a burning problem of the photos on a disc.
    You should check if the new CD/DVD firmware is available for your CD/DVD drive.
    You should look on the European driver Toshiba page. In addition to information, you will get a few details on the firmware available.

    If there is no firmware available, then you should test different CD and DVD from different manufacturers

  • Satellite A350 - display driver stopped responding and has recovered

    Hi guys

    I'm new to the forum

    My Satellite A350 recovered above this message 3 times and every time I've seen the blue screen.

    I checked my BIOS driver is updated by a check from Microsoft of the driver.

    The thing I did differently is recently I joined a second monitor for the purposes of the study as a form of additional reading... and I wonder if this has caused the pilot to fail and that I shouldn't use it more (or for a short time only?)

    Thanks for the help :)

    Use of the external monitor is not critical, and it is not the reason why this happens. In my opinion, there are some unwanted software.
    Using certain applications requiring a real graphic performance?
    Are you using the original recovery image Toshiba (supplied with the notebook OS)?

    Hello
    I have a Toshiba Satellite L850-1j9, (PSKG8E-02D00KCE), in collaboration with i7-3630QM and an AMD Radeon HD M 7670.

    The problem is, I'm not able to install the AMD display driver. When I try to install the software and drivers this problem appears: https://youtu.be/AOiPq8WVz_M

    The first time that I was using Win 10. I did the update to win 10 about a month ago and everything was ok until 4 days ago. I was working with my laptop with an external screen connected by HDMI and all of a sudden the screen started to Flash some green lines with a black background (something like you can see in the video).

    I saw on the internet that some people have problems making the update to wion10, I have installed new Windows 8 to see if has something related to win10 but the problem persists.

  • Satellite A500-1GL - Driver NVIDIA GeForce GT300m for Windows 7 32 bit

    Hi, I'm French, I bought this phone 2 weeks ago, and I did a new install of Windows7 32 bit.
    I'm looking for the display driver (for my Nvidia GeForce GT 300 m), but the only one I found is for Windows 7 64 bit :'(

    Do you know if Toshiba will realease a driver? Do I need a specific driver for my laptop? Or can I install the nvidia official driver (when they go out there)?

    Thank you

    Ivan

    Hello Ivan,.

    I checked the Web from Toshiba site and you concerning the right of no display driver for Windows 7 32 bit. :(

    But I think you can use the display to another series of Toshiba laptop driver. I checked the site Web of Toshiba for Satellite P500, you can find a Windows 7 64-bit display driver, and they are also equipped with nVidia graphics cards.
    Check this driver, it should work!

  • Satellite A500 - HARD drive recovery option is no longer available at the F8 Menu

    Hello, this my phone trees.
    I reset my Satellite A500 and due to a power failure reset did not finish. When I have inexplicable with F8 I can see HARD drive recovery option, and then must log on my account that I did not at all because of the power failure.
    Then I installed a copy of Vista retail, hoping to create an account and be able to retrieve from the HARD drive.
    PROBLEM! : Now I don't see the "Recovery disk" option at all.
    QUESTION: There must be a way to integrate this option in the windows Startmenu (F8). Can someone help me with this issue? I burn the DVD recovery and the recovery partition is still there.
    Thanks in advance.

    More big mistake made you ve, it's that you don't l l create recovery DVD such as recommended by Toshiba.

    Why you didn t ask how it works before you do anything?
    You've misunderstood with username and account.

    Now, when you use your own installation, you need to remove the option for installation of HARD drive recovery and the recovery image can be installed with recovery only DVDs.
    Now, you have two options:
    -to order the new recovery DVDs or
    d ' use the clean install of the OS.

    What do you think of this?
    To be honest, I think you need to use Windows 7 on this laptop.

    I recommend you to install Win7. Download page for all the necessary drivers, you can find and download from Toshiba

  • Satellite A300D - Display driver for Win 7 32 bit that support WDDM

    Hello

    I recently got Windows 7 on my laptop Satellite A300D and I have problems with the Aero graphics.
    I can't fix it because my display driver does not support aero graphics and my driver (which I downloaded it the TOSHIBAS DRIVERS site) does not have something on WDDM...

    Please helpo me...

    Thank you very much

    Hello

    WDDM means Windows Display Driver Model.
    Check out this MS page for more details
    http://msdn.Microsoft.com/library/aa480220.aspx

    and Wikipedia:
    http://en.Wikipedia.org/wiki/Windows_Display_Driver_Model

    Usually, the graphics card driver should support this
    As much as I know, that you need to install the latest DirectX Windows 7 supports DirectX10 and Vista supported DirectX9.

    What to say; I use the driver of Toshiba page and I was able to use Aero m.
    But note; Aero must be supported by the graphics card and other components of portable equipment. If the hardware requirements is too low, then you would not be able to activate Aero.

    Welcome them
