Satellite A500 is too hot

Hello

I got what I call a sort of problem.
For awhile now, my laptop (A500 - 14L) become sometimes too hot and turns off automatically. I discovered that it was specifically the left side of the computer (I guess, display driver) which was raging upwards and can sometimes get to use the computer for a long time if I put only halfway on a table (left side on anything...)

Today, I tried to buy a cooler (logitech) and tried to play starcraft 2... Well, I can simply! .... Cooler is not enough, and, according to a software that I just downloaded, GPU quickly rises to more than 100 ° C and 230 ° F. It's too hot I guess, but I don't know what to do? What more that a cooler could buy? Is - this usual? My GPU is an Ati Radeon 4650
I thank very you much for any help. As you may have guessed, it's pretty frustrating...

How much time do you have your Satellite A500?
I can imagine cooling grill is full of dust and maybe the laptop needs to be cleaned.

You can use some additional coolers, but if the cooling rack is blocked by dust it help at all.

Unfortunately there is not much you can do about it. Cooling fan is controlled automatically. I put t know which options have the power that you have changed, but please try to change the option for cooling method. You can find it in the advanced power options > Toshiba power Saver saver > cooling method.
Use the optimized battery option. This should reduce the activity of fan cooling.

  • Satellite L500 becomes too hot - fan starts at boot only!

My Satellite L500 overheats and stops without warning. I first thought that the fan is defect because it won't start unter SP2 of Vista, but when I reboot it works then on BIOS level.

But as soon as Vista takes over during initialization the fan stops. I tried Speedfan but it is somehow not able to start the fan. he reads only the different temperatures, the fan speed.

I don't know, but maybe this problem occurred after I've upgraded to Vista SP 2 two months ago who was not released by Toshiba. It seems that this will happen by Toshiba more but that's another question.

The laptop is almost 2 years and come with Vista SP1.
The only thing on the side of software is always upgrading the BIOS, there seems to be a newer version of May 2011.

I cleaned the intake with a vacuum cleaner, but the main problem is probably not dust, but the fan does not start. Someone an idea how I can start? Can be a software or a setting somewhere in Windows?

    > I don't know but maybe this problem occurred after I've upgraded to Vista SP 2 two months ago who was not released by Toshiba. It seems that this will happen by Toshiba more but that's another question.

Are you talking about Vista Service Pack 2?
Service Packs for Windows operating systems are released by Microsoft and not the laptop manufacturers. ;) Release of the laptop manufacturers only the drivers own for portable devices unique ;)

So you would update of the BIOS?
    If not try this

Where can I find driver updates?

    Thanks for the reply.

Where can I find driver updates?

Unfortunately, it seems that the Satellite A500 is too old and will not be Windows 10 drivers.
I found the Toshiba site, which provides information on the Toshiba models supported for upgrading to Windows 10 and the A500 is not which are listed there.
    http://win10upgrade.Toshiba.com/swup...SPX?region=TEG

Generally, all Toshiba drivers earn 10 for other models of laptops can be downloaded on this page:
    http://win10upgrade.Toshiba.com/swup...SPX?region=TEG
then maybe you can see the drivers released for other series...

I also read that some of the riders Win 8 could also work in the frame to win 10.

  • P series too hot and sound card problem

    Hello

in recent weeks, I have a problem with the temperature. The P series of satellites is much too hot, even if only the essential progs are running, the processor runs with 100% very often. Without the Task Manager (to close the CPRS) of "windows" the machine crashes several times down!

And since I've updated the driver sound in August this year, the sound may not be performed correctly. The sound card is not identified by diff. progs. MP3 direct cut and sound blaster, during the race.
I can't save anything! So bad!

    Hello!

Clean the laptop? You can use spry compressed air could blow the dust from the cooling fans. So do not disassemble anything.

Which audio driver use? Toshiba or manufacturing as Realtek? Maybe there already is a new or try again with the old driver.

Moreover, what Satellite phone do you have?

  • Satellite A300 - Touchpad gets too hot

I bought a Satellite A300 last week and I noticed that when I use the computer for an hour or so the touchpad becomes very hot.
And also the area of the left hand next to the touchpad.

Is this normal? Is there a way to reduce it?

    Thank you

    Pedro.

    Hi Pedro,

I put t know what what is for you hot and wasn't, but on my Toshiba Satellite laptop I've never had a problem that it too hot.

Normally, I recommend to clean the laptop with a jet of compressed air, but I think that is not necessary because the laptop is only a week.
Maybe the fan or the heatpipe is malfunctioning. Or the thermal grease to be renewed

I put t know but in your case, I would go to an authorized service provider. Technicians can check your laptop and it should be free, because the laptop must be under warranty if it s a week-old.

    Greeting
    Schaumi

    Hello

Try to clean the cooling fans with a jet of compressed air.
Dust and debris inside fans might prevent air circulation, which leads to a higher temperature.

You must also use the graphics card drivers Toshiba instead of all the other drivers of all pages on 3rd. The drivers of Toshiba page contains a GPU overheating which other drivers don't.

  • P30-145 satellite - computer cooling system becomes too hot

    Hello

Can someone tell me the speed of maximum ventilation for Satellite P30-145, Im of the problems with the cooling system, because my computer is because cutting as its not too hot, Ive currently had raised by 1 inch on wooden beams to help the circulation of air, and I wanted to know what the speed of the fan is the possibility of an update of fan.

    Thanks for your help.
    Michael

    Hello

The fan that was installed in the satellite P100 expected works well and should be able to cool the CPU without any problem.
I recommend you to check the settings in the energy saver. There, you can choose between different modes.
It is also important that the fan grids are free. The air circulation is very important for the cooling of the processor

  • Dead by Satellite A500-1pj after involuntary Bios Update

    Hello world

A friend of mine bought a new PC laptop toshiba Satellite A500-1pj a month ago. Windows 7 pro 64-bit pre-installed.
Also preinstalled: support software toshiba who - correctly - configured search automatically and installs updates and critical fixes.

Last Sunday this wonderful software recommended an update 'critical' to my friend - she's no expert but a user experienced who can make the difference between an update of the bios (and avoid this!) and a security patch, she agreed to download and install what she believed to be a security update.

Sure, she gave permission to an update of the bios being installed. During the process of updating the machine froze completely. She waited for three hours and then pulled the plug. Guess what: the machine is now completely gone. Does not display without fan, simply nothing.

Hotline support Toshiba told him that his cell two weeks old is not under warranty because this warranty does not cover software 'problems and the Bios updates are software upgrades.

The company repair says a repair will very probably equal to buy a new laptop so here we are...

    My questions:

    (1) the laptop is a Satellite A500-1pj (PSAR9E-01M00QGR) fitted to a phoenix UEFI bios (bios toshiba/phoenix, 1.1.26 update tool is pretty radical - no warning at all! he tried to update me my computer dell laptop, lucky!).
I found some posts on older machines that can be reflashed using a usb disk, hot spare bios back and a combination of keys (Fn + B or Fn + F...). is it possible to do this with a UEFI bios too?

    (2) anyone out there have the same problem?

    (3) any chance of toshiba help us with that issue and prevent others from making the same mistake to understand at least a warning in their bios updates?

    Thanks for your help!

    Tony

    > The company repair says a repair will very probably equal to buy a new laptop so here we are...
    I doubt that
I think that the module ROM BIOS was flashed incorrectly (don't know why) and therefore you can not start the laptop.
This can happen for different reasons, maybe that the update process was interrupted due to a process running in the background, etc.

In order to solve this problem, the ROM module must be flashed again using a special crisis disk BIOS... that's all.

The update of the BIOS is always a sensitive procedure but if everything was done correctly, then update the BIOS must successfully complete.

I found this very interesting and useful to Toshiba and HowTo doc correctly updated the BIOS!

  • Satellite A500-17 x restart automatically if I play Warhammer

    Hello
I just bought a Satellite A500-17 x a few days ago. There is a very big prblem with laptop is.

When I play the game Warhammer Online, the laptop will automatically resart every time. Little time is 10 minutes, sometimes is 20minuts. First time I thought is a
problem of temperature but the laptop isn't too hot anyway. I have try to disable the restart to see there is no information, unluckly the laoptop always restart automatically when I play the game.

Can help me Fig that out?

    Hello

This only happens if you play Warhammer Online or in other games too? Have you noticed this problem only on Windows?

At the moment it is not easy to say why this happens, but you need to update the display driver. Check the Toshiba site for an update:
    http://EU.computers.Toshiba-Europe.com > support & downloads > download drivers

It is important that you use a display of a 3rd party site driver because only Toshiba drivers have overheating protection.

In addition, it would be interesting to know what operating system you are running. Is it preinstalled OS from Toshiba or another?

  • Satellite A500 - 19 X - cannot activate Win7 installed on new SSD

    Hi guys,.

my hard drive failed and I replaced it with a new solid state drive. I installed Windows 7 Home premium 64-bit sp1 and I used the product key I got for my old drive entered pre loaded when I bought the laptop. Unfortunately, what it won't validate. Microsoft is a key valid and contact Toshiba.
Toshiba tell me that because she was pre loaded on my laptop will not work for my new drive.

My laptop model is a toshiba Satellite A500-19 x help please

Your laptop comes with Windows preinstalled, and this version has already been activated. The product key you have on the Microsoft sticker belongs to the original version of Windows and cannot be used for activation if you want to use the own version of Win. With the new laptop, you bought Windows and a valid license too.

I don't know if you created the recovery DVDs as described in manuals s but if you use it for the installation of the OS. If you do not have this recovery DVDs that you have a problem.

In my opinion, there are two options: either you're going to pay for the new license or you order original recovery disk ad original recovery image on your laptop.

  • Satellite A500 - slower with videos on Windows 7

Hi, I desperately need advice, I am 78 years old and going into the wall.

My Satellite A500 / 03P was bought with preinstalled Vista and worked fine. My particular interest is the functioning and the creation of video clips from training for other seniors, like video purchased has worked, stutter free. I took the offer to upgrade to Windows 7 and bought the upgrade, things went quickly downhill since. Installing Windows 7 became crazy during the installation, I have to take the computer to a maintenance shop. He was returned with Windows 7 installed, but has been considerably slower with videos run from the hard drive stuttering, worse still, my connection Internet ADSL2 running about 1.25 m bits per second.

After a while I got to service man and $ 200 later was provided with a dual boot hard drive, Windows 7 32-bit and 64-bit Windows 7. The system is practically unusable for video. I downloaded and installed all the 32 and 64-bit drivers provided by Toshiba but had to give up the 64-bit completely as unusable. I tried to install another copy of Vista Ultimate, bought for my old desktop PC, but could not get Internet to work, either directly or via the WIFI on the laptop.

I tried to run the Toshiba on the 32-bit Windows 7, but the laptop is too slow, that even my email creeps to e-mail readere. Any advice would be most appreciated that my pension will not bear the costs of local peoples. Should I buy the Toshiba original disks and return to 'ex factory Vistor State' or what.

    Concerning
    LeslieB

    Hi Leslie,.

I m really wondering why your A500 has so many problems with Windows 7. From my own experience I can say it s really great and better than Vista OS. I use 1.5 years now and everything is working a lot on it.

In any case, did you check if all devices are properly installed in Device Manager and if there is no yellow exclamation?
When you watch videos, have you selected the power profile high performance in Windows?

    > Should I buy the Toshiba original disks and return to 'ex factory Vistor State' or what.
That would be an option, Yes.
You don t have the Toshiba Recovery disk? If this isn't the case, you can get it from a provider of service authorized in your country.

  • Satellite A500 - 15 M: unable to connect to the TV with HDMI

    Hello

I have a Satellite A500 - 15M. I recently tried to connect to my TV so I could watch certain shows online on my Hannspree Xv HD ready TV.
The HDMI out does any record on the TV - the TV displays a message "not supported" and remains off (as if there is no signal) - display settings on the PC it does not recognize the TV... actually it [Intel Graphics and Media Control Panel] indicates that the TV/monitor settings are not supported.

But I can connect via the VGA output - although I have to delete the display settings to 1024 x 768 to show on TV. In addition the display on the TV then is mainly pink and red, even if my pc display peak is most often blue. -start of the Toshiba screen displays on the TV, without any problems and one or twice the login screen was displayed too much, but then sometimes it isn't...
I know that's not the VGA cable as I can connect to the TV with it on netbook advent my wife without any problem.
Are there drivers, I need to update / download? Or I need to change the settings?
How can I get my screen on my TV?

Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you

    Hello

First, you must connect the two machines (laptop and TV via HDMI) when the two devices are turned off. After turn on the TV and the laptop.

You must choose the HDMI on TV channel and should then use the FN + F5 key combination to switch the video output to the TV.

If this does not help, try updating the graphics card driver.
It seems that your laptop supports the Intel graphics chip. Therefore, you can see the Intel page for new drivers.

    Welcome them

  • Satellite A500 - 19L - loss of a WiFi sygnal

    Hello

After trying many solutions with and without success, I got here.

Since 2009, I have a Toshiba Satellite A500 - 19L, but has the problem appear just a few weeks ago.
Windows 7 is installed, Toshiba system recovery CD.

Sometimes without reason, I lost my wifi connection and wifi may not be new launch (the witness about the orange button stop working). And I can't find THE solution to restart again.

Then, as this problem appear weeks, I tested different solutions which worked sometimes but not all the time:

    -restart the computer
    -power wifi card
    -Reset toshiba card
    -power toshiba wireless card
    -system restore
    -restore the old driver

Also, I formatted my computer once and the problem always appear...

Recently (about 15 minutes) ago something very strange has happened, I was downloading (steamed) with the computer (WiFi) and the use of firefox. At one point, the wifi works plus as mentioned above, computer still worked but wasn't keyboard and pad "work (I was able to use the computer with my mouse)."

As this problem appear without reason, I can't find a real solution that can fix.

    Hope someone could help me.

Sorry for my English, not native language...

    Hello

You talk about the WiFi connection, but it would be interesting to know if the same problems using the local network.
    Have you tried this link?

It's hard to say exactly why the problems of connection Wlan appears. There are different reasons for this. It could be the problem router Wlan or compatibility problem between the router and the wireless network card. Some routers and Wlan cards don t manage all types of encryption.
In addition these interruptions may be related to interference and low signal.

As I said above: you need to check if the same happens using the connection to the local network.
Also recommend resetting the router and the parameters.
Test WLan using different types of encryption. In addition, you can test the connection using WLan/no open. But do it only for testing purposes.

Also turn off the TCP/IPv6 and use only TCP/IPv4 for WLan connection.
I also recommend to renew the IP address. You can do this in console (type CMD in search to start the console) using the command IPCONFIG / renew
